Hi,
I'm using a seekbar in my android application to set the volume. However the length of the seekbar is unesthetically too short. So is there a way to customize the length of a seek bar ?

Hello,
I'm looking for a way in an Android application to store a password within the memory as long as the application is running (cf. different activities). I was first thinking about the SharedPreferences, but then it's saved in the flash memory, which isn't that good for a password, I guess.
I'm unsure, what's the best way. What would you recommend me?
Is there any way (e.g. with the command-line) I can upload an APK to an android phone wirelessly (wifi or Bluetooth) and launch it on the phone from a desktop machine?
I can do this things with abd from the command line when a USB cable is attached but I'd like to know if I can do this without having to mess around with cables.
I've run this on a device and on the emulator. The app stops unexpectedly on both
I have not a clue what is wrong currently

I have created an application for a simple expandablelist. In the code i am displaying some textviews in the child . I am able to add a button in the child of the expandable list. But the problem I am facing is with the onclick event of the button.Since I am creating the button inside onChildClick(), the button appears, but its onclick event dosent take place. I also tried adding the button with its onclick event in the group as well, but I am facing similar problem there also.
If anyone could help , it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

My app needs to save files that will range from about 2-20mb. When I tried to do this I was getting an OutOfMemoryException. I did some reading and it's looking like Android has a file size limit of 1mb. Is this correct? If so, is there a way around this limitation, other than splitting up every file into 1mb chunks?
My application is a trail version apk. Once the period is completed, can I initiate another application to be installed/downloaded from the android market ( purchasing process) which is a paid application using the current running trail application.

I am trying to access a server that requires authorization using the WebView widget in Android. I think it's the .htaccess type of authorization.
I works with the default browser provided with the OS, but when I try it with a WebView.. it gives a 401 immediately.
Any ideas on how I can have a WebView present the dialog to enter the user/pass (and remember it)?
Thanks.
m.google.com somehow requests the current location when loaded in Android's browser.
I want to do the same thing from a web page being loaded into a WebView in my own application. Is the only way to go about this with WebView.addJavascriptInterface(), or is there already a javascript interface available for webapps to use?
I would like to create a Java-written RESTFul Web Service, possibly using an eclipse plugin.
This service should be consumed by an android application, using the apache HttpClient.
But my question is, which is the best/ideal technology (server side) to implement this kind of web service?
I'm using a default Eclipse project file generated for my Android application, and I want to keep it in a targets/ directory (along with other eclipse-specific files) in order to better organize my project structure (I also plan on adding a target for NetBeans).
Simple question, I suppose: Is this possible?
The wifi network is connected, the application setup a socket connection and exchange data with the remote server. But when turn off the wifi, the inteface is removed, while socket operation read/write on this socket is still like normal, no any IO exception reported. The application has to do some extra checking to avoid waiting for the data forever.
Is this the normal case for Android design? Is there any plan to fix it?
I am a beginner in Android programming. I want to build a simple application with a main list view in the screen and two buttons at the bottom of the screen.
When more items are added to the list view, the list view should scroll without increasing the overall length of the list view.
I used the tutorial on this website but i dont really understand how to get the file that i wont to be loaded into it. Does anyone know what i have to do to get a file in my res folder to show up in the webview through the content provider or even another way to do it?

am almost done with my project in android, now I want to make the executable version of the application.
I need to demonstrate it in .exe form as soft app as on emulator, not by built and debug process from eclipse.

Hi all,
Sorry if this is a noob question, I searched quite a bit and couldn't find an answer.
I'm developing a html5 app that relies on sqlite for local storage.
I'd like for it to appear as an app icon on the iPhone/Android screen, what's the best way to do this? Ie can I write some sort of "wrapper" app to achieve it?
Thanks!
From today, when I tried to run an app in NetBeans on a 2.3.3 Android platform, it shows me that:
Failed to allocate memory: 8
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
and the Emulator doesn't want to start.
This is for the first time when I see it, and google has no asnwers for this, I tried even with 2 versions of NetBeans 6.9.1 and 7.0.1, still the same error.
