  • Javascript game with css position

    - by newb125505
    I am trying to make a very simple helicopter game in javascript and I'm currently using css positions to move the objects. but I wanted to know if there was a better/other method for moving objects (divs) when a user is pressing a button here's a code i've got so far.. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Game 2 helicopter</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function num(x){ return parseInt(x.replace(/([^0-9]+)/g,'')); } function getPos(x, y){ var inum=Math.floor(Math.random()*(y+1-x)) + x; inum=inum; return inum; } function setTop(x,y){ x.style.top = y+'px'; } function setBot(x,y){ x.style.bottom = y+'px'; } function setLeft(x,y){ x.style.left = y+'px'; } function setRight(x,y){ x.style.right = y+'px'; } function getTop(x){ return num(x.style.top); } function getBot(x){ return num(x.style.bottom); } function getLeft(x){ return num(x.style.left); } function getRight(x){ return num(x.style.right); } function moveLeft(x,y){ var heli = document.getElementById('heli'); var obj = document.getElementById('obj'); var poss = [20,120,350,400]; var r_pos = getPos(1,4); var rand_pos = poss[r_pos]; xleft = getLeft(x)-y; if(xleft>0){ xleft=xleft; } else{ xleft=800; setTop(x,rand_pos); } setLeft(x,xleft); setTimeout(function(){moveLeft(x,y)},10); checkGame(heli,obj); } var heli; var obj; function checkGame(x,y){ var obj_right = getLeft(x) + 100; var yt = getTop(y); var yb = (getTop(y)+100); if(getTop(x) >= yt && getTop(x) <= yb && obj_right==getLeft(y)){ endGame(); } } function func(){ var x = document.getElementById('heli'); var y = document.getElementById('obj'); alert(getTop(x)+' '+getTop(y)+' '+(getTop(y)+200)); } function startGame(e){ document.getElementById('park').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('newgame').style.display='none'; heli = document.getElementById('heli'); obj = document.getElementById('obj'); hp = heli.style.top; op = obj.style.top; setTop(heli,20); setLeft(heli,20); setLeft(obj,800); setTop(obj,20); moveLeft(obj,5); } function newGameLoad(){ document.getElementById('park').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('newgame').style.display='block'; } function gamePos(e){ heli = document.getElementById('heli'); obj = document.getElementById('obj'); var keynum; var keychar; var numcheck; if(window.event){ // IE keynum = e.keyCode; } else if(e.which){ // Netscape/Firefox/Opera keynum = e.which; } keychar = String.fromCharCode(keynum); // up=38 down=40 left=37 right=39 /*if(keynum==37){ //left tl=tl-20; db.style.left = tl + 'px'; } if(keynum==39){ //right //stopPos(); tl=tl+20; db.style.left = tl + 'px'; }*/ curb = getTop(heli); if(keynum==38){ //top setTop(heli,curb-10); //alert(curb+10); } if(keynum==40){ //bottom setTop(heli,curb+10); //alert(curb-10); } } function endGame(){ clearTimeout(); newGameLoad(); } </script> <style type="text/css"> .play{position:absolute;color:#fff;} #heli{background:url(http://classroomclipart.com/images/gallery/Clipart/Transportation/Helicopter/TN_00-helicopter2.jpg);width:150px;height:59px;} #obj{background:red;width:20px;height:200px;} .park{height:550px;border:5px solid brown;border-left:none;border-right:none;} #newgame{display:none;} </style> </head> <body onload="startGame();" onkeydown="gamePos(event);"> <div class="park" id="park"> <div id="heli" class="play"></div> <div id="obj" class="play"></div> </div> <input type="button" id="newgame" style="position:absolute;top:25%;left:25%;" onclick="startGame();" value="New Game" /> </body> </html>

  • hadoop mapper static initialisation

    - by rakeshr
    Hi, I have a code fragment in which I am using a static code block to initialize a variable. public static class JoinMap extends Mapper<IntWritable, MbrWritable, LongWritable, IntWritable> { ....... public static RTree rt = null; static { String rtreeFileName = "R.rtree"; rt = new RTree(rtreeFileName); } public void map(IntWritable key, MbrWritable mbr,Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { ......... List elements = rt.overlaps(mbr.getRect()); ....... } } My problem is that the variable rt in the above code fragment is not getting initialised. Can anybody suggest a fix or an alternate way to initialise the variable. I don't want to initialise it inside my map function since that slows down the entire process.

  • How to get rid of this sliver of white between DIVs?

    - by George Edison
    I am currently having trouble getting rid of a sliver of white... Here is an example page: http://m.stackoverflow.quickmediasolutions.com/view_question.php?id=97969&site=serverfault As you can see, the answers have a sliver of white stuffed between the top of the 'button' and the content. Here is some relevant code: <!-- this is the top of the 'button' --> <div class='top'></div> <!-- right here is where the space is --> <div class='content'></div> .top { height: 5px; } .content { display: block; padding-left: 10px; }

  • LINQ to Entites: How should I handle System.InvalidOperationException when checking for existance of

    - by chris
    I have a many-to-one relationship that users can edit via checkboxes. PK of Foo is ID, and fid contains the id from the checkbox. I'm checking to see if an element exists with: Foo ent; try { ent = ctx.Foo.First(f => f.ID == fid); } catch (System.InvalidOperationException ioe) { ent = new Foo(); } It seems to me that I should be able to do this without throwing an exception. What would be the best way to do this?

  • Get products to display on custom Magento page

    - by Eric
    How can you get products to display on a custom Magento page? Naturally, this is not an uncommon question but nothing that I've seen has solved it for me. The common response is to put the following code in through the CMS editor: {{block type="catalog/product_list" name="home.catalog.product.list" alias="products_homepage” template=”catalog/product/list.phtml”}} Which just displays the message "There are no products matching the selection." on my page. Other websites advise reindexing the data through the Magento admin controls, clearing the Magento cache, and making sure products are set to a store, none of which helped in my case. Anyone have any ideas?

  • What to do when ServerSocket throws IOException

    - by s5804
    Basically I want to create a rock solid server. while (keepRunning.get()) { try { Socket clientSocket = serverSocket.accept(); ... spawn a new thread to handle the client ... } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); // NOW WHAT? } } In the IOException block, what to do? Is the Server socket at fault so it need to be recreated? For example wait a few seconds and then serverSocket = ServerSocketFactory.getDefault().createServerSocket(MY_PORT); However if the server socket is still OK, then it is a pity to close it and kill all previously accepted connections that are still communicating.

  • How to dump STDIN to a file, using C++ STL?

    - by Jimm Chen
    HHello all, this is a straight forward question, but not a straight forward answer can be found by just Googling today. Hope someone can show me a concise answer before I dig into those thick C++ books and finally find the solution out. Thank you. I'm writing this program so to make a workaround in this issue: Why do I get 'Bad file descriptor' when trying sys.stdin.read() in subversion pre-revprop-change py script? Note: Content from STDIN may be arbitrary binary data. Please use C++ STL functions, iostream, ifstream etc . If the file creation/writing failed, I'd like to catch the exception to know the case.

  • How to determine the inner context node within an XSLT select

    - by Marcus Rickert
    Hi there! I'm trying to determine a subset of nodes stored in the variable objs by using a user defined function cube:is_active: <xsl:variable name="active_cubes" select="$objs[cube:is_active(XXX) = 'TRUE']"/ Since the function does not allow a local context I'm required to pass it as a parameter (denoted by XXX). However, the usual suspects "." or "current()" do not work since they refer to context node of the surrounding block and NOT to the current element of objs which is evaluated. The only solution so far which DOES work is: XXX=SOME_CHILD_TAG/.. But this is really ugly since it depends on the existence of the child tag for the parent node to work correctly. Is there any other way? Thanks!

  • Android XML file doesn't save

    - by Shane
    I'm writing a game with LibGDX, and I'm trying to save an XML file, but there's always an exception (java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/Slugfest/teams/Team1.xml: open failed: ENOENT (No such file or directory)) when saving the file. This code saves the file. public void save() { try { TransformerFactory transformerFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance(); Transformer transformer = transformerFactory.newTransformer(); DOMSource source = new DOMSource(doc); StreamResult result; if (Gdx.app.getType() == ApplicationType.Android) { result = new StreamResult(new File("/data/Slugfest/teams/" + name + ".xml")); } else { result = new StreamResult(new File(name + ".xml")); } transformer.transform(source, result); Gdx.app.log("Slugfest", "File saved."); } catch (TransformerException tfe) { Gdx.app.log("Slugfest", tfe.getLocalizedMessage()); } } My manifest file includes the WRITE/READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions, by the way.

  • Stopping looping thread in Java

    - by halfwarp
    I'm using a thread that is continuously reading from a queue. Something like: public void run() { Object obj; while(true) { synchronized(objectsQueue) { if(objectesQueue.isEmpty()) { try { objectesQueue.wait(); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } obj = objectesQueue.poll(); } } // Do something with the Object obj } } What is the best way to stop this thread? I see two options: 1 - Since Thread.stop() is deprecated, I can implement a stopThisThread() method that uses a n atomic check-condition variable. 2 - Send a Death Event object or something like that to the queue. When the thread fetches a death event it exists. I prefer the 1st way, however, I don't know when to call the stopThisThread() method, as something might be on it's way to the queue and the stop signal can arrive first (not desirable). Any suggestions?

  • CSS image for submit button - clicking image must submit form

    - by Tom
    Please help, I have a form on wordpress. I want the user to be able to click an image instead of the standard submit button. I have the image appear and the submit button disappear - but nothing happens when I click on the image. This is the code I am using: .formBuilderForm .formBuilderSubmit { clear: both; text-align: right; display:block; width:228px; height:49px; background: url(my image url) no-repeat; text-indent:-999em; Before you say "google it" or try search: I have tried the methods mentioned here: http://www.queness.com/post/798/5-techniques-to-style-buttons-using-images-and-css I've read similar posts such as this on stackoverflow but they don't solve my frustratingly simple problem. How to change input button image using CSS? Thanks for your help.

  • How to debug "The type initializer for 'my class' threw an exception"

    - by JFB
    I am getting the exception: The type initializer for 'my class' threw an exception. in my browser after running my web application. Since this seems to be an error message generated from the view (.aspx), there is no way I can see the stack trace or any log for the source of this error. I have read a bit around the net and one solution to debugging is to throw a TypeInitializationException and then looking at the inner exception to find out what was wrong. How can I do this when I don't know where to surround code with a try/catch ?

  • jQuery code to track clicks on outgoing links (google analystics)

    Hello, I found this on the web: $('a[href^=http]:not("[href*=://' + document.domain + ']")').click(function() { pageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/' + $(this).attr('href')); }); But it's not working. In my Google Analytics account there are no /outgoing/ links showing (it's been 24+ hours since I implemented it). What's wrong with this code? I'm using jQuery of course ;) (PS : i already have : <script type="text/javascript"> var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? • Sinatra: How do I provide access to a login form while preventing access to the rest of my Sinatra a

    - by Brandon Toone
    I recently created a Sinatra app with a login form (no basic auth). To prevent access to the app unless the user logged in I put a before block in place before do unless request.path_info == '/login' authenticated? end end I quickly realized that this prevented me from accessing resources in the public directory like my style sheet and logo unless authenticated first as well. To get around that I changed my filter to the following: before do unless request.path_info == '/login' || request.path_info == "/stylesheets/master.css" || request.path_info == "/images/logo.png" authenticated? end end If there were lots of resources I needed to provide exceptions to this way of making them would quickly become overwhelming. What is a better way to code this so I can make exceptions for the public directory or even its specific sub-directories and files like /stylesheets, /images, /images/bg.png but not /secret or /secret/eyes-only.pdf? Or ... Is there a completely different best-practice to handle this situation of locking down everything except the stuff related to logging in (handlers, views, resources)?

  • Implementing clone on a LinkedList

    - by devoured elysium
    I am trying to implement a clone() method on a DoubleLinkedList. Now, the problem is that implementing it by "the convention" is a lot more troublesome than just creating a new DoubleLinkedList and filling it with all the elements of my current DoubleLinkedList. Is there any inconvenient I am not seeing when doing that? Here is my current approach: @Override public DoubleLinkedList<T> clone() { DoubleLinkedList<T> dll = new DoubleLinkedList<T>(); for (T element : dll) { dll.add(element); } return dll; } Here is what it would be by the convention: @Override public DoubleLinkedList<T> clone() { try { DoubleLinkedList<T> dll = (DoubleLinkedList<T>)super.clone(); //kinda complex code to copy elements return dll; } catch (CloneNotSupportedException e) { throw new InternalError(e.toString()); } }

It is necessary to use a transaction? or SQL SERVER it self uses a transaction for this type of sentences.
