  • Encryption in PHP leaves unwanted characters

    - by MichaelH
    I have made an encryption function which encrypts a simple value and stores it in the database. Here is the code to encrypt and decrypt: public function encrypt($string){ $iv_size = mcrypt_get_iv_size(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB); $iv = mcrypt_create_iv($iv_size, MCRYPT_RAND); $value = mcrypt_encrypt(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, $this->key256, $string, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB, $iv); $value = base64_encode($value); return $value; } public function decrypt($string){ $value = base64_decode($string); $value = mcrypt_decrypt(MCRYPT_RIJNDAEL_128, $this->key256, $value, MCRYPT_MODE_ECB); return $value; } When I encrypt a simple value such as 'Michael' and decrypt again, I get the value: Michael????????? Is there a reason I get all those question marks or a way to get rid of them?

  • Extracting data form XML file with SimpleXML in PHP

    - by Cudos
    Introduction: I want to loop through XML files with flexible categories structure. Problem: I don't know to loop through a theoretical infinte subcategories without having to make x amount of "for each" statements (See coding example in the bottom). How do I dynamically traverse the categories structure? What I have now: I have no problem looping through XML files with a set structure: <catalog> <category name="Category - level 1"> <category name="Category - level 2"> <category name="Category - level 3" /> </category> <category name="Category - level 2"> <category name="Category - level 3" /> </category> </category> </catalog> Coding example: //$xml holds the XML file foreach ( $xml AS $category_level1 ) { echo $category_level1['name']; foreach ( $category_level1->category AS $category_level2 ) { echo $category_level2['name']; foreach ( $category_level2->category AS $category_level3 ) { echo $category_level3['name']; } } }

  • Dividing numbers between rows in MySQL + PHP

    - by André Figueira
    Hi I am working on a kind of raffle system which divides 1 million random numbers into an x amount of tickets, e.g. 1 million random numbers to 10,000 tickets. Each ticket is a row in a database, we then have another table ticket numbers in which i need to give 100 numbers to each ticket they are related by the ticket id. So at the moment this is my code: //Amount of the 1 million tickets divided to the tickets $numbersPerTickets = $_POST['numbersPerTicket']; //The total cost of the property $propertyPrice = $_POST['propertyPrice']; //The total amount of tickets $totalTickets = NUMBER_CIELING / $numbersPerTickets; //The ticket price $ticketPrice = $propertyPrice / $totalTickets; //Generate array with random numbers up to 999,999 $randomTicketNumbers = createTicketNumbers(); //Creation loop counter $ticketCreationCount = 1; //Loop and create each ticket while($ticketCreationCount <= $totalTickets) { //Create a padded ticket number $ticketNumber = str_pad($ticketCreationCount, 6, 0, STR_PAD_LEFT); $query = ' INSERT INTO tickets( propertyID, ticketNumber, price ) VALUES( "'.$propertyID.'", "'.$ticketNumber.'", "'.$ticketPrice.'" ) '; $db->query($query); //Get the ID of the inserted ticket to use to insert the ticket numbers $ticketID = $db->insert_id; $loopBreak = $numbersPerTickets; $addedNumberCount = 1; foreach($randomTicketNumbers as $key => $value) { $query = ' INSERT INTO ticketNumbers( ticketID, number ) VALUES( "'.$ticketID.'", "'.$value.'" ) '; $db->query($query); unset($randomTicketNumbers[$key]); if($addedNumberCount == $loopBreak){ break; }else{ $addedNumberCount++; } } $ticketCreationCount++; } But this isn't working it adds the right amount of tickets, which in the case for testing is 10,000 but then adds far too many ticket numbers, it ends up exceeding the million numbers in the random tickets array, The random tickets array is just a simple 1 tier array with 1 million numbers sorted randomly.

  • Inheriting database connection in PHP OOP

    - by vrode
    My abstract class Database is made for database interaction and any child of this class (UserDatabase, ActionDatabase, EventDatabase) inherits its database connection which is defined as static. `abstract class Database { static $connection = mysql_connect( ); } class UserDatabase extends Database { ... public function __construct( ) { $connection ? "connected" : "not connected"; $this-table = "users"; mysql_query( "FROM " . $this-table . " SELECT *" ); } } ` Does that mean, that my database connection is only set up and stored in memory once and passed on to subclasses as reference without being replicated for each instance? Is this how you would implement you OOP-correct database interface?

  • compile a single ASP.NET (.aspx) page from the command line

    - by JoelFan
    I have a Perl script that calls aspnet_compiler.exe to compile a large ASP.NET website. The problem is that it takes very long to run. Is there any way to compile just a single .aspx file from the command line? (I think that would suit the needs of my script) It seems that all aspnet_compiler.exe can do is compile at a directory level.

  • Escaping quotes twice in PHP

    - by Genadinik
    Hello, I have a complicated form where I first have to take some _GET parameters and obviously I have to do a mysql_real_escape_string() on them since I look stuff up in the database with them. Them problem for me is after the initial db lookup. When the user submits a form, I send them along as a _POST request and obviously have to do this mysql_real_escape_string call again just in case someone tries to hack my site with a faked form submission. Then the problem I have is the arguments are escaped twice and my queries begin to look strange like this: select field1 , field2 , from my_table where some_id = \'.$lookup_id.\' ... So the system seems to be adding \' and it is messing me up :) Also, in my other forms I have not seen such behavior. Any ideas on what may be causing this? One weird thing is that I tried to send unescaped parameters to the post, and the same problem happens. That is a clue, but not a sufficient one for me. :( Thanks, Alex

  • Why can’t PHP script write a file on server 2008 via command line or task scheduler?

    - by rg89
    I created a question on serverfault.com, and it was recommended that I ask here. http://serverfault.com/questions/140669/why-cant-php-script-write-a-file-on-server-2008-via-command-line-or-task-schedul I have a PHP script. It runs well when I use a browser. It writes an XML file in the same directory. The script takes ~60 seconds to run, and the resulting XML file is ~16 MB. I am running PHP 5.2.13 via FastCGI on Windows Server Web edition SP1 64 bit. The code pulls inventory from SQL server, runs a loop to build an XML file for a third party. I created a task in task scheduler to run c:\php5\php.exe "D:\inetpub\tools\build.php" The task scheduler shows a time lapse of about a minute, which is how long the script takes to run in a browser. No error returned, but no file created. Each time I make a change to the scheduled task properties, a user password box comes up and I enter the administrator account password. If I run this same path and argument at a command line it does not error and does not create the file. When I right click run command prompt as an administrator, the file is still not created. I get my echo statement "file published" that is after the file creation and no error is returned. I am doing a simple fopen fwrite fclose to save the contents of a php variable to a .xml file, and the file only gets created when the script is run through the browser. Here's what happens after the xml-building loop: $feedContent .= "</feed"; sqlsrv_close( $conn ); echo "<p>feed built</p>"; $feedFile = "feed.xml"; $handler = fopen($feedFile, 'w'); fwrite( $handler, $feedContent ); fclose( $handler ); echo "<p>file published</p>"; Thanks

  • CSV file read fail (PHP )

    - by user1020069
    I am trying to read a csv file (delimited by commas) but unfortunately, it isn't responding as it ought to. I am not so sure what I am doing wrong here, but I'll paste out the contents of the code and the CSV file both : $row = 0; if($handle = fopen("SampleQuizData.csv","r") !== FALSE) { // WORKS UNTIL HERE, SO FILE IS BEING READ while(!feof(handle)){ $line = fgetcsv($handle, 1024, ",") ; echo $line[2]; // DOES NOT WORK } } And the CSV file is (the emails and names have been changed here to protect the identities of the users) parijat,something,[email protected] matthew,durp, [email protected] steve,vai,[email protected] rajni,kanth,[email protected]

  • Please explain this php expression "!$variable"

    - by DogBot
    What does an exclamaton mark in front of a variable mean? And how is it being used in this piece of code? EDIT: From the answers so far I suspect that I also should mention that this code is in a function where one of the parameters is $mytype ....would this be a way of checking if $mytype was passed? - Thanks to all of the responders so far. $myclass = null; if ($mytype == null && ($PAGE->pagetype <> 'site-index' && $PAGE->pagetype <>'admin-index')) { return $myclass; } elseif ($mytype == null && ($PAGE->pagetype == 'site-index' || $PAGE->pagetype =='admin-index')) { $myclass = ' active_tree_node'; return $myclass; } elseif (!$mytype == null && ($PAGE->pagetype == 'site-index' || $PAGE->pagetype =='admin-index')) { return $myclass; }`

  • PHP use function return value as array

    - by Richard Knop
    Why is it that this works: $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cache->load('externalData'); $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cacheMatchesNotPlayed['matchesNotPlayed']; But this doesn't work: $cacheMatchesNotPlayed = $cache->load('externalData')['matchesNotPlayed']; Is there some reason for it? The second bit is easier to write.

  • SQL return error within PHP

    - by Luke
    I use GET to get the id of a result. $id = $_GET['id']; I then use the following code: <? $q = $database->friendlyDetails($id); while( $row=mysql_fetch_assoc($q) ) { $hu = $row['home_user']; $ht = $row['home_team']; $hs = $row['home_score']; $au = $row['away_user']; $at = $row['away_team']; $as = $row['away_score']; $game = $row['game']; $name = $row['name']; $match = $row['match_report1']; $compid = $row['compid']; $date = $row['date_submitted']; $sub = $row['user_submitted']; } ?> And friendDetails- function friendlyDetails($i) { $q = "SELECT * FROM ".TBL_SUB_RESULTS." INNER JOIN ".TBL_FRIENDLY." ON ".TBL_FRIENDLY.".id = ".TBL_SUB_RESULTS.".compid WHERE ".TBL_SUB_RESULTS.".id = '$i'"; return mysql_query($q, $this->connection); } For some reason, the code will only return what is under id =1. Can anyone see anything obvious I am doing wrong?

  • PHP strip_tags only at the end of the string

    - by Solomon Closson
    Ok, well, I just want to use strip_tags function on the very end of a string to get rid of any <br /> tags. Here's what I have now, but this is no good because it strips these tags from everywhere in the string, which is not what I want. I only need them stripped out if it's at the end of the string... $string = strip_tags($string, strtr($string, array('<br />' => '&#10;'))); How can I do this same thing, except only at the very end of a string?? Thanks guys!!

  • JSON Returning Null in PHP

    - by kira423
    Here is the two scripts I have Script 1: if(sha1($json+$secret) == $_POST['signature']) { $conversion_id = md5(($obj['amount'])); echo "OK"; echo $conversion_id; mysql_query("INSERT INTO completed (`id`,`uid`,`completedid`) VALUES ('','".$obj['uid']."','".$conversion_id."')"); } else { } ?> Script 2: <? $json = $_POST['payload']; $secret = "78f12668216b562a79d46b170dc59f695070e532"; $obj = json_decode($json); if(sha1($json+$secret) == $_POST['signature']) { print "OK"; } else { } ?> The problem here is that it is returning all NULL values. I am not an expert with JSON so I have no idea what is going on here. I really have no way of testing it because the information is coming from an outside website sending information such as this: { payload: { uid: "900af657a65e", amount: 50, adjusted_amount: 25 }, signature: "4dd0f5da77ecaf88628967bbd91d9506" } The site allows me to test the script, but because json_decode is providing NULL values it will not get through the signature block. Is there a way I can test it myself? Or is there a simple error in this script that I may have just looked over?

  • PHP: How to forward on $_FILES using cURL

    - by Toby
    Hi. I'm trying to use cURL to forward on a http request from a form in a web application I'm developing. Essentially I need to submit the same form twice on different servers, for the second server I'm adding some security measures to the post data. I can receive $_POST information on the second form perfectly fine, however I'm having major troubles with my $_FILES - I've tried separating the two so there's a separate request for post and files data but still no luck. Is this possible?
