  • Post parameters to a frame of new window

    I have to modify an existing web search page. There is a page, where all the search filters are (form with name "searchform"). When the search button is pressed, results are shown in new window. Because the search takes up to 30 seconds, and while searching the window stays blank, I have to add a label "Searching. Please wait..." at the new created window with the results. So the search window is created, and I set it's location to a frameset. First frame will show the label, and the second will show the results. But i can't manage to update the second frame with the results.   • Auto height and the float issue.

    I have had this issue before and can't remember if and how I fixed it. I have to create a scenario where I have 2 DIV's floated left and right inside a parent DIV. The 2 floating DIV's have height:auto, but the parent ignores them (perfectly logical) and the background of the parent DIV can't be seen. I know what the issue is, but are there any suggestions of how to solve it? Or any alternatives, I am willing to try a new approach. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Some little extra space is being added when a drop-down is on :focus

    My problem is that when I place :focus style for our dropdown lists like so: input, select { margin: 0; padding: 0; } select:focus { background: #FFC; } ...the dropdown with the focused selection suddenly has an extra spacing on all sides (1-2px spacing). See images below: It may seem unnoticable on the photos above but when you do a selection, the increase in padding/spacing cannot be missed. I already tried removing margin: 0, padding: 0, thinking that the :focus state might be reverting to the padded version but still the same. Has anybody encountered this problem? Only happens in Firefox.

I have a database column called pymnt_meth_pref, which contains a comma separated string of payment methods chosen from a multiselect form. <td>Payment Methods Used:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Cash">I can pay with cash.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Check">I can pay by check.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Credit Card">I can pay by credit card.<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="pyment_meth_pref[]" value="Paypal">I can pay with Paypal.<br /> </td> This array is posted to a variable and turned into a comma separated string if (isset($_POST['pyment_meth_pref'])) $pymntmethpref = implode(", ", $_POST['pyment_meth_pref']); if (isset($_POST['pyment_meth_acc'])) $pymntmethacc = implode(", ", $_POST['pyment_meth_acc']); This is then inserted into the database as a comma separated string. What I would like to do, is take this string and apply the values to the original form when the user goes back to the form as 'pre-selected' checkboxes, indicated that the user has already selected those values previously, and keeping those values in the database if they choose to edit any other information in the form. I'm assuming this would need to be done with javascript but if there is a way to do it with PHP I'd rather do it that way.

  • Number of times a file (e.g., PDF) was accessed on a server

    I have a small website with several PDFs free for download. I use StatCounter to observe the number of page loads. It also shows me the number of my PDF downloads, but it considers only those downloads where a user clicks on the link from my website. But what's with the "external" access to the PDFs (e.g., directly from Google search)? How I can count those? Is there any possibility to use a tool such as StatCounter? Thanks.

  • How not to lose focus on a login page

    I have a simple login form with 2 input fields: "username" and "password". "username" field is focused by default. The problem is that when user clicks outside "username" or "password" fields, the focus is gone (it is neither on "username" nor on "password" fields"). How can I force the focus to be on these 2 fields only ? In my case, this is a really annoying behavior, so I really want to do this :) Can I do something like: $("*").focus(function() { if (!$(this).hasClass("my_inputs_class")) { // How to stop the focusing process here ? } }); ?

I have a table, and when i click on a row, i want the cells details to be filled into a form: so simple example <table id="table"> <tr><td class="field1">1 </td><td class="field2">2 </td></tr> </table> <input id="input" type="text" /> So the JQuery: $(document).ready(function() { $('#table tr').click(function() { $test = $(this).find('td').context.innerText) //problem here * $('#input').val( ); }) this returns the innertext of the tr (i.e "1 2" How am i supose to do it...   • Make links inside an iframe open in a new window

    I'm trying to display an map inside an iframe that has a needle which on mouseover shows some information about a certain company, the thing is once you click the link the page opens up inside the iframe which ruins the experience, so i was wondering is it possible to make the links inside an iframe open up in a new window instead perhaps using jquery or something similiar? the code i have atm is http://www.jsfiddle.net/rkd59/1/

    I need a scalable, automated, method of dumping the contents of "view page source" (DOM) to a file. Programs such as wget or curl will non-interactively retrieve a set of URLs, but do not execute javascript or any of that 'fancy stuff'. My ideal solution looks like any of the following (fantasy solutions): cat urls.txt | google-chrome --quiet --no-gui \ --output-sources-directory=~/urls-source (fantasy command line, no idea if flags like these exist) or cat urls.txt | python -c "import some-library; \ ... use some-library to process urls.txt ; output sources to ~/urls-source" As a secondary concern, I also need: dump all included javascript source to file (a la firebug) dump pdf/image of page to file (print to file)

    Hello all I would like to know your opinions on how to handle this. I need to create a link or advertisement that offers a phone app to be downloaded. I need that users who are viewing the page with their blackberry receive the download when they click the button but everyone else who would be viewing the page would get a form which asks that they insert a phone number to send the application to. Has anyone else already tackled this or something similar?

  • Div behind another div problem.

    Here is a (big) example of the massive problem I am having, when this page is live at euroworker.no/order, it is dynamically generated, I have supplied a static version for people to mess with. All I need is where it says "Endre Valg" to push the div wrapper under it down.. Sounds easy huh? I have tried many many things, I hope that some discussion and even trial and error can help us here. Sorry for the huge amount of code and stuff but this has taken me all day and I am out of ideas. Thanks.

  • CSS Differences Between IE and FF

    I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking a question that pertains to a project I'm working on. If you view my page here and view it in Firefox and again in Internet Explorer, the width of the main content boxes differs. In Firefox, everything aligns perfectly with the advertisement at the top of the page, but in IE, the width of the content boxes seems to fall short by about 20 or so pixels. My question is obvious by now, but what is causing the width in IE to fall short, and what would a simple solution be? If I happen to be breaking the rules by asking a question that is not generic enough to benefit others, then allow me to rephrase it; what would be the best approach to solving visual differences between browsers? Should I use a separate CSS file for IE, or is there a way to define lines in my CSS file that only get rendered by a specific browser? It would be best if someone could provide me with the necessary CSS to align things properly, but I would be more than happy to learn about how to make the CSS dynamic (if that's possible).     hi, I'm looking for a columnizer plugin (making columns of my small divs). It is very important it has the following features: 1) It has to be as light as possible (if it is only css would be great, but I guess it is difficult make it work on IE then...) 2) It has to be cross-browser (I don't need IE6... IE7 and IE8 compatibility is required). 3) The divs has not to be broken. In other terms, the nodes have to be moved to next block but not splitted in 2. The nodes are div elements, they might include other divs, images and text. 4) The column have to have a fixed width and fixed margin. This means that when I resize the browser, and new columns are created (become the window becomes wider), the new columns have to rigidly keep the same width and distance between them. (margin:20px) (width:200px) Would be great to have some css.. but I'm afraid I need some jQuery plugin because I need all 4 features being supported. I found several plugins and css styleshits with very good solutions, but I couldn't find a complete one. Thanks

  • Unknown margin being added to a footer in IE6 + 7

    So yeah, like I said, I've spent a few hours trying to fix this bug in the footer that add's an extra 20-30px on to the bottom of the page in IE6 and 7. I've currently set all bottom margins to 0 so as to find what's causing it, I then scoured ie developer tools but came up empty.
