  • Add data to a list box from a dropdown

    - by bachchan
I have a listbox (listBox) and a dropdown list(dropDown). I want to be able to select an item from the dropDown and add them to the listBox. I have looked everywhere for this but all I ever see is adding data from a datasource instead of a dropdown. I want this to be dynamic so the listBox is populated based on the a user selected in the dropDown

  • Make SubSonic use existing <connectionstring> instead of new data provider

    - by paolodm
I am adding SubSonic to a legacy application. This application already defines a ConnectionString. Is there a way I can use this connectionstring instead of creating a new Data Provider entry? I know that one solution is programmatically setting this in the code (i.e. SubSonic.DataService.GetInstance("Name").SetDefaultConnectionString("ConnString") ). However, is there a more elegant solution?

  • How to post data in PHP using file_get_contents?

    - by Paras Chopra
I am using PHP's function file_get_contents() to fetch contents of a URL and then I process headers through the variable $http_response_header. Now the problem is that some of the URLs need some data to be posted to the URL (for example, login pages). How do I do that? I realize using stream_context I may be able to do that but I am not entirely clear. Thanks.

  • Databank for city information

    - by Kimble
I'm hacking on a semi commercial(ads) travel related web site and would like to add a couple of lines about the biggest cities in Europe. Just a few lines about what (if anything) the city is known for, main attractions and so on. Can someone recommend me a data source with a compatible license? Bonus points for being easily importable.

  • Are cookies enough for storing login data?

    - by jpjp
I am reading the Head First PHP/Mysql book and they say to store both the user's username, email into cookies and sessions. Is it safe to assume that everyone nowadays accepts cookies? Or should I store both in sessions and cookies? I am not storing any sensitive data in cookies such as password, etc.

  • Udp server sending only 0 bytes of data

    - by mawia
Hi all, This is a simple Udp server.I am trying to transmit data to some clients, but unfortunetly it is unable to transmit data.Though send is running quite successfully but it is returning with a return value meaning it has send nothing. On the client they are receiving but again obviously, zero bytes. void* UdpServerStreamToClients(void *fileToServe) { int sockfd,n=0,k; struct sockaddr_in servaddr, cliaddr; socklen_t len; char dataToSend[1000]; sockfd=socket(AF_INET,SOCK_DGRAM,0); bzero(&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr)); servaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; servaddr.sin_addr.s_addr=htonl(INADDR_ANY); servaddr.sin_port=htons(32000); bind(sockfd,(struct sockaddr *)&servaddr, sizeof(servaddr)); FILE *fp; if((fp=fopen((char*)fileToServe,"r"))==NULL) { printf("can not open file "); perror("fopen"); exit(1); } int dataRead=1; while(dataRead) { len = sizeof(cliaddr); if((dataRead=fread(dataToSend,1,500,fp))<0) { perror("fread"); exit(1); } //sleep(2); for(list<clientInfo>::iterator it=clients.begin();it!=clients.end();it++) { cliaddr.sin_family = AF_INET; inet_aton(inet_ntoa(it->addr.sin_addr),&cliaddr.sin_addr); cliaddr.sin_port = htons(it->udp_port); n=sendto(sockfd,dataToSend,sizeof(dataToSend),0,(struct sockaddr *)&cliaddr, len); cout<<"number of bytes send by udp: "<< n << endl; printf("SEND this message %d : %s to %s :%d \n",n,dataToSend,inet_ntoa(cliaddr.sin_addr), ntohs(cliaddr.sin_port)); } } } I am checking the value of sizeof(dataTosend) and it is pretty much as expected ie thousand ie the size of buffer. Are you people seeing some possible flaw in it. All of the help in this regard will be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Need Help Loading and Manipulating Bitmap Data

    - by Dave
Using VB6, I need to load a bitmap image and subsequently manipulate some of its data - specifically, I want to rotate a section within the image, and in the end keep the image intact with the rotated section. How do I (1) find out where an image gets loaded into memory (a physical address), and (2) in what format is it stored, a 1-D array, 2-D array, or what? Maybe you can even suggest a better way to do this. Thanks.

  • Create DB in Sql Server based on Visio Data Model

    - by Yaakov Ellis
I have created a database model in Visio Professional (2003). I know that the Enterprise version has the ability to create a DB in Sql Server based on the data in Visio. I do not have the option to install Enterprise. Aside from going through the entire thing one table and relationship at a time and creating the whole database from scratch, by hand, can anyone recommend any tool/utility/method for converting the visio database model into a Sql Script that can be used to create a new DB in Sql Server?

  • Data access layer using Linq to SQL

    - by Andrei Tanasescu
I am building a c# - linq - sql server winforms/asp.net application, accessing a database. I would like my business logic layer to be easily testable, and that means not littering it with Linq database queries everywhere. What design patterns/ best practices are available for the following use cases - inserting/updating a new object - searching for an object - loading a bunch of related data into a sort of "presentation" object that could be displayed by various views ?

  • How do I access Windows Event Viewer log data from Java

    - by MatthieuF
Is there any way to access the Windows Event Log from a java class. Has anyone written any APIs for this, and would there be any way to access the data from a remote machine? The scenario is: I run a process on a remote machine, from a controlling Java process. This remote process logs stuff to the Event Log, which I want to be able to see in the controlling process. Thanks in advance.

  • How to get structure of a Google Protobuf message without the definition

    - by dqminh
I have to get the message structure of a protobuf message transfered to me without the message's definition. Using UnknownFieldSet methods, I was able to get a string representation of the message as below: 1: "a" 2: { 3:"b" 4:"c" } What data structure does field 2 represent ? Using UnknownFieldSet.Field.getGroupList i was able to get the content of field 3 and 4, does that means field 2 has the "deprecated" group structure ?

  • Should a data warehouse developer know Powershell scripting?

    - by AEngelsrud
I am a SQL Server (2005 & 2008) data warehouse developer (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, SQL) and I am wondering if it would be worth the effort and time to learn Powershell scripting. Are there applicable uses from a development perspective? I understand that from a DBA view there is considerable power in Powershell for administration - does any of this translate to useful commands for a developer? Thanks!
