  • Ideas for band site, which technology to use?

    I am attempting to design and build a website for my friends band. There is minimal content to be included such as bio,news,enbemdded Audio/Visual material. My web dev expertise is average. I'm basicaly looking for inspiration, I was edging towards embedding a silverlight deepzoom xap object to add some visual stimulation, perhaps by featuring a high res photo of the bandshardware/equipment which zooms when mouseover occurs. Does anyone have any cool ideas for a central feature for this site, and which way to approact it in terms of technique (js,css,silverlight etc) If anyone has any immediate ideas which they think would be cool then I am eager to hear them! Also if anyone can link me to any cool band sites they have come across recently I would be greatful,nothing too complicated though please I will be doing all the work myself. Im want the site to be simple but have a certain wow factor!

  • How to have multiple parts of a website in one page

    I want to make a website that will have multiple pages, but because of a unique navigation bar, I cannot simply link to a new file for each page. What is the best way to accomplish this. Some possibilities that I can think of are having all of them on one page, but using css and javascript to move the other pages offscreen, or using iframes and loading them with javascript. Could someone please direct me to some examples or tutorials?

  • IE6 is duplicating characters, can't figure out why. Suggestions?

    Problem is located on http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/ We have a dresses slider at the bottom, select tabs different dresses shown. Works fine everywhere else, but for some reason, in IE6, the letters "ls" (from the tab "Best Deals") are duplicating inside the content and causing rendering issues. I've yet to find anything that can fix this, or anything that can be blamed for causing this either. I've changed the letters at the end of Best Deals, and the duplicated letters change as well. Open to any suggestions.

  • Is it possible to hide the cursor in a webpage using CSS or Javascript?

    I want to hide the cursor when showing a webpage that is meant to display information in a building hall. It doesn't have to be interactive at all. I tried with the cursor property and a transparent cursor image but I didn't make it work. Does anybody know if this can be done? I suppose this can be thought as a security threat for a user that can't know where he is clicking on, so I'm not very optimistic... Thank you!

  • Passing along variable inside link works only on first word in multiple-word-variables, why?

    I have this code below. As you can see I am passing two variables along with the link. The second variabye (category) works whenever it consists of one word, but some categories are two words or more, and then on the receiving php page where I fetch the variable only the first word is fetched. Any ideas? Example: I pass along this: Rims & Tires Only this comes through: Rims $display_table .= "<a href='../ad.php?ad_id=$row[ad_id]&category=$row[category]' target='_parent'>"; Here is how I fetch it in the receiving php file (which the link is to): $cat = $_GET['category']; echo $cat; //displays only first word of multiple word categories.   • Navigation Dropdown Text Color doesn't work in FF and IE

    Hello, I was able to get the navigation dropdown to show the letters in a different color from the background (white in this case) in Chrome browser. But when I view the same page in IE or FF, the whole background is just all green. Here is an example of such a page: http://www.comehike.com/hikes/hikes_and_groups.php And here is the CSS code that makes the color show up white in Chrome navigation li li a {color:#white; text-decoration:none;} To see the difference, just mouse over the top right where it says "community" or "hikes" Thanks, Alex

  • Password verification; Is this way of doing it safe?

    I have a classifieds website, where everybody may put ads of their products. For each classified, the user has to enter a password (so that they can delete the classified whenever they wish). So basically, when somebody wants to delete a classified, they click on the classified, click on the delete button, and enter the pass. I use MySql as a database. I use this code basically: if ($pass==$row['poster_password']) where row[poster_password] is fetched from MySql... What do you think? Thanks

  • Get back the default browser styling for input fields

    I need to style all the input fields but one. So i have set a rule for all the inputs on the site. For the seachfield i need to use the browser default, so i was thinking i could just inherit all the values i have set for the general input fields. (have tried border: none to) This does not work in FF nor Safari :( The border just gets transparent. http://jsfiddle.net/N5KKH/1/ Any idea how i could get the default browser styling back?   • Preventing fixed footer from overlapping content

    I've fixed my footer DIV to the bottom of the viewport as follows: #Footer { position: fixed; bottom: 0; } This works well if there isn't much content on the page. However, if the content fills the full height of the page (i.e. the vertical scroll bar is visible) the footer overlaps the content, which I don't wont. How can I get the footer to stick to the bottom of the viewport, but never overlap the content?

    I am working on a menu navigation that has parent horizontal bar as static and a vertical accordion child menu that interacts with the parent. I have them working fine except one part where I want to toggle show() and hide() child menu when clicked on the same parent menu item. I've looked at toggle() jQuery API but couldn't get it working properly.     I have 30 categories in mysql. I have 450 subcategories which are related to the 30 categories in another table. Categories table id _ title _ Keywords 1 _ Animals _ animal, animals, pet, parrot 2 _ Books _ books, book, educational n _ xxx _ xxx Subcategories table id _ ref _ title _ keywords 1 _ 1 _ cats _ cats, persian cat, bengal cat 2 _ 1 _ dogs _ dogs, labrador, golder retriver 3 _ 2 _ Classic _ The davinci code, books, book, classical books I need to implement the filter to a textfield. If the users enters labrador in the textfield then show the categories or/and subcategories which contain 'labrador' in the keywords. In this case the "dogs" subcategory would appear! I know that this has been done using jquery. But is there anyway to implement this with angularJs? If you got a jsfiddle then it would be awesome! :) Thank you

    Is it possible to add a function to a plugin without modifying the actual plugin?   • Arrow in nav menus in CSS/JS (e.g. playframework.org)

    The navigation menu at the top of the www.playframework.org site features a small arrow pointing upward for the currently selected section (Home, Learn, Download,...). I tried to get behind the implementation they used, but I can't wrap my head around it - the resource does not show up in Chrome's Resources window, and an inspection of the elements did not show any signs of a background image, nor a JS interceptor (although I might have missed that). What in hellhound's name is going on there? :)
