  • Jquery toggle with two elements

    - by Jesse
    I am using a toggle on a graphic to slide out a contact form. The problem is, the contact form can cover up the graphic element on low resolutions. I thought a solution would be to include a "close this" inside the form, that would use the same toggle effect. When I add the close this element to the code, instead of working in tandem with the original graphic element, it starts the chain back over, and slides the contact form even further out. Site is here: http://www.tritonloyaltysupport.com/status Code for toggle here: $(this).html(div_form); //show / hide function $('div.contactable').toggle( function() { $('#overlay').css({display: 'block'}); $('#contactForm').animate({"marginRight": "-=0px"}, "fast"); $('#contactForm').animate({"marginRight": "+=390px"}, "slow"); }, function() { $('#contactForm').animate({"marginRight": "-=390px"}, "slow"); $('#overlay').css({display: 'none'}); } );

  • jquery update div as text input is modified

    - by Piero
    Hi, So I have this text input in a form, and I want to update a div as the user types text in the text input. <p><label for="movie_name">Film: </label> <input type="text" name="movie_name" class="required" onkeydown="changediv2(this.value)" /></p> <p><div id="ajax_update"></div></p> My js method: function changediv2(str) { $('#ajax_update').html(geturl('http://url/search/movie?query='+str)); } If I type in a browser http://url/search/movie?query=someString, I get some html displayed. But when I call it via this ajax call, nothing happens... My geturl method: function geturl(addr) { var r = $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: addr, async: false }).responseText; return r; } I cannot see what is wrong in there... Please help me! :)

  • jQuery: If user clicks out of div

    - by Paul Knopf
    I am creating a popup in query. All is well with the popup on hover. I made it see a timer starts when user's mouse leaves the div to close it. If he enters the div again before the timer is done, then the timer is cleared. This is fine, but what if a user clicks out of the div? I want that to also close the div. The only problem is that I don't want to attach click events to the wrapper on the page (because it includes the popout menu). I have seen techniques that wraps entire screen with a transparent div, and then attach a click event to hit. Although this may work, it confuses the user if he clicks the hidden div intending to click a link. He will have to click the link twice. Once two close the div (hiding the link), and another time to actually click think. Also, you loose in mouse cursors attached to any masked elements on the page (such as links cursor pointer, etc). There has to be a way to check if the user clicked out of the div without a modal and without attaching events to the entire page (page wrappers and child elements included). onclicksomewhereelse="closeme();" lol.

  • Swap image with jquery and show zoom image

    - by Neil Bradley
    Hi there, On my site I have 4 thumbnail product images that when clicked on swap the main image. This part is working okay. However, on the main image I'm also trying to use the jQZoom script. The zoom script works for the most part, except that the zoomed image always displays the zoom of the first image, rather than the one selected. This can be seen in action here; http://www.wearecapital.com/productdetails-new.asp?id=6626 I was wondering if someone might be able to suggest a solution? My code for the page is here; <% if session("qstring") = "" then session("qstring") = "&amp;rf=latest" maxProducts = 6 prodID = request("id") if prodID = "" or not isnumeric(prodid) then response.Redirect("listproducts.asp?err=1" & session("qstring")) else prodId = cint(prodId) end if SQL = "Select * from products,subcategories,labels where subcat_id = prod_subcategory and label_id = prod_label and prod_id = " & prodID set conn = server.CreateObject("ADODB.connection") conn.Open(Application("DATABASE")) set rs = conn.Execute(SQL) if rs.eof then ' product is not valid name = "Error - product id " & prodID & " is not available" else image1 = rs.fields("prod_image1") image1Desc = rs.fields("prod_image1Desc") icon = rs.fields("prod_icon") subcat = rs.fields("prod_subcategory") image2 = rs.fields("prod_image2") image2Desc = rs.fields("prod_image2Desc") image3 = rs.fields("prod_image3") image3Desc = rs.fields("prod_image3Desc") image4 = rs.fields("prod_image4") image4Desc = rs.fields("prod_image4Desc") zoomimg = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg") zoomimg2 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg2") zoomimg3 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg3") zoomimg4 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg4") thumb1 = rs.fields("prod_preview1").value thumb2 = rs.fields("prod_preview2").value thumb3 = rs.fields("prod_preview3").value thumb4 = rs.fields("prod_preview4").value end if set rs = nothing conn.Close set conn = nothing %> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/head-product.asp" --> <body id="detail"> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/header.asp" --> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function switchImg(imgName) { var ImgX = document.getElementById("mainimg"); ImgX.src="/images/products/" + imgName; } </script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var options = { zoomWidth: 466, zoomHeight: 260, xOffset: 34, yOffset: 0, title: false, position: "right" //and MORE OPTIONS }; $(".MYCLASS").jqzoom(options); }); </script> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/nav.asp" --> <div id="column-left"> <div id="main-image"> <% if oldie = false then %><a href="/images/products/<%=zoomimg%>" class="MYCLASS" title="MYTITLE"><img src="/images/products/<%=image1%>" title="IMAGE TITLE" name="mainimg" id="mainimg" style="width:425px; height:638px;" ></a><% end if %> </div> </div> <div id="column-right"> <div id="altviews"> <h3 class="altviews">Alternative Views</h3> <ul> <% if oldie = false then writeThumb thumb1,image1,zoomimg,image1desc writeThumb thumb2,image2,zoomimg2,image2desc writeThumb thumb3,image3,zoomimg3,image3desc writeThumb thumb4,image4,zoomimg4,image4desc end if %> </ul> </div> </div> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/footer-test.asp" --> <% sub writeThumb(thumbfile, imgfile, zoomfile, thumbdesc) response.Write "<li>" if thumbfile <> "65/default_preview.jpg" and thumbfile <> "" and not isnull(thumbfile) then if imgFile <> "" and not isnull(imgfile) then rimgfile = replace(imgfile,"/","//") else rimgfile = "" if thumbdesc <> "" and not isnull(thumbdesc) then rDescription = replace(thumbdesc,"""","&quot;") else rDescription = "" response.write "<img src=""/images/products/"& thumbfile &""" style=""cursor: pointer"" border=""0"" style=""width:65px; height:98px;"" title="""& rDescription &""" onclick=""switchImg('" & rimgfile & "')"" />" & vbcrlf else response.write "<img src=""/images/products/65/default_preview.jpg"" alt="""" />" & vbCrLF end if response.write "</li>" & vbCrLF end sub %>

    - by Misha Moroshko
    Why the following code fails with: Error: class_a_jquery_objects[0].parent is not a function ? • jQuery fadeOut() function doesn't ALWAYS work in Chrome, Firefox, IE

    - by user365568
    Sometimes, the slideshow on my website, which uses fadeOut and fadeIn to cycle through three main images, will fadeIn a new photo without fading in the old one. This doesn't happen every time the page loads though. My site is here (the slideshow will take 7 seconds to change): http://codersarepeople.com/v2/ The code I use is this: slideshow = new Array('#slideshow1','#slideshow2','#slideshow3'); var i = Math.floor(Math.random()*3); $(slideshow[i]).fadeIn(125); var t = setInterval(function() { $(slideshow[i%3]).fadeOut(250,function() { $(slideshow[(i+1)%3]).fadeIn(250); }); i++; },7000);

  • jQuery datepicker calendar - call to function updates database

    - by erbaker
    So I'm using the datepicker plugin to make an availability calendar. Here is my javascript: http://pastebin.com/H7D9PcAg When dpSetSelected() is called it is also calling dateSelected() which triggers the AJAX call to my PHP script. I need a way to only update the database if the date is clicked on and not pre-loaded. When I pre-load the dates they are sent to the PHP page and subsequently removed.

  • JQuery\Javascript - Passing a function as a variable.

    - by Josh
    I was just curious if I could pass a function as a variable. For example: I have a function $('#validate').makeFloat({x:671,y:70,limitY:700}); I would like to do something like this: $('#validate').makeFloat({x:function(){ return $("#tabs").offset().left+$("#tabs").width();},y:70,limitY:700}); This does not work, but ideally every time the variable was accessed it would compute the new value. So if the window was resized it would automatically adjust as opposed to a variable passed in being static. I realize I can implement this directly inside the function\widget, but I was wondering if there was some way to do something like the above.

    - by haribo83
    Hi I have found the following code to create a search on my site - this works really well the only problem is in Internet Explorer the search doesn't work when you press the return key. Does anybody have any ideas? The search code is below - if anything else is needed please let me know. $(function() { $(".search_button").click(function() { var search_word = $("#search_box").val(); var dataString = 'search_word='+ search_word; if(search_word=='') { } else { $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "searchdata.php", data: dataString, cache: false, beforeSend: function(html) { document.getElementById("insert_search").innerHTML = ''; $("#flash").show(); $("#searchword").show(); $(".searchword").html(search_word); $("#flash").html('<img src="ajax-loader.gif" /> Loading Results...'); }, success: function(html){ $("#insert_search").show(); $("#insert_search").append(html); $("#flash").hide(); } }); } return false; }); });

  • Jquery prettyPhoto and star conflict....DOM not loading?

    - by Dustin
    I'm working on an online ordering system for photography clients: Here. (Forgive the requirement of having to sign in). After signing in, the user is able to rate pictures using the stars listed below each picture, then subsequently view 3 star pics, or 4 star pics, etc. However, when the user clicks on an image, a lightbox expands (prettyPhoto namely) which contains the picture as well as the stars listed below. I want users to be able to star a picture within the lightbox, but the javascript is not being passed after the prettyPhoto lightbox is initialized. Consequently, they can't rate pictures within the lightbox. I've heard of something similar to this, but have no idea about how to go about tackling the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Replacing text with a link in jQuery

    - by Eli
    I'm trying to replace a small part of text in a large HTML document with my own element which I create on the fly. The text may be a huge bulk of text, html, images, what-ever, and what I want is to find the first (or all) the position of a certain string, and replace it with an element that I create using $('< span'). Using simple text.replace('the string', $('< span')); doesn't do the trick (I'm left with [object Object] and not the actual < span that I want. The reason I don't just inject direct HTML is because I want to retain all the binds that are related to the object I'm creating. and doing a replace with a custom ID, and then attaching binds to the ID after the HTML has been altered, seems a bit dirty. Thanks for the help! :)

  • Am I using too much jQuery? When am I crossing the line?

    - by Andrea
    Lately I found myself using jQuery and JavaScript a lot, often to do the same things that I did before using CSS. For example, I alternate table rows color or create buttons and links hover effects using JavaScript/jQuery. Is this acceptable? Or should I keep using CSS for these kinds of things? So the real question is: When I'm using too much jQuery? How can I understand when I'm crossing the line?

  • jQuery append css link to iframe head

    - by Micharch54
    I'm trying to append a css file to an iframe that is created on a page from a global script. I can access part of it, but for some reason I can't append to the head. It's not throwing errors either, which is frustrating. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#outline_text_ifr') .contents() .find('head') .append('<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="/include/outline.css" media="all" />'); }); </script>

  • jQuery fade in background colour

    - by Marcos Placona
    Hi, I'm trying to fade in the background colour of a table row, and can't get it right. The fade-in will happen when a button is clicked. I tried something like: $("#row_2").fadeIn('slow').css('background', 'gold') And although this will apply the colour to the table row, it won't fade in, but apply it at once. I'm sure this is a simple thing, but I can't find an answer to that. I've looked all over in this website, but still no luck for this specific thing. Thanks in advance

  • jQuery .toggle() called by window.setInterval() not functioning

    - by Paul Daly
    I am trying to alternate between two logos every 5 seconds using the following code: window.setInterval( function () { //breakpoint 1 $("#logo").toggle( function() { //breakpoint 2 $(this).attr('src', '/Images/logo1.png'); }, function() { //breakpoint 3 $(this).attr('src', '/Images/logo2.png'); } ); }, 5000 ); I can get a simple toggle to work, but when I introduce the toggle within window.setInterval(), the toggle's two handlers won't fire. I set breakpoints on the lines directly beneath the comments in the code above. Breakpoint 1 hits every 5 seconds. However, Breakpoint 2 and 3 never hit. Why are neither of the toggle function's handlers firing?

  • Jquery remove and add back click event

    - by London
    Is it possible to remove than add back click event to specific element? i.e I have a $("#elem").click(function{//some behaviour});, $(".elem").click(function{//some behaviour});(there are more than 1 element) while my other function getJson is executing I'd like to remove the click event from the #elem, and add it again onsuccess from getJson function, but preserve both mouseenter and mouseleave events the whole time? Or maybe create overlay to prevent clicking like in modal windows? is that better idea? edit : I've seen some really good answers, but there is one detail that I omitted not on purpose. There are more than one element, and I call the click function on the className not on elementId as I stated in the original question

  • jQuery .animate reveal contact form hidden in div with negative margin above header

    - by brhea
    Hi everyone, I've got my contact form hidden with a negative margin-top, so that when the visitor clicks "Contact" it reveals the div. <script type="text/javascript">$("#revealContact").click(function(){ $("#contact").animate({ marginTop: "+=620px" }, 1000); });</script> You can view it live here: http://www.brianrhea.com/index_contact.php -- click Contact link in top right My problem is that as soon as the form is submitted, it inherits the -620 margin and the success (or error) prompt is invisible. I'm running in to some other cross-compatibility issues as well with the margin spacing so I'm not even sure this is the best way to go about this. Obviously it'd be great if I could just begin with the div as display:hidden and then animate it to visible, but I haven't been able to do that. Any input is appreciated, either with advice on how to save the margin after form submission, or suggestion on better method to achieve this hide/reveal. Thanks, Brian

  • Dismiss Menu when Focus is lost, not on mouseout. jQuery

    - by Stacey
    I have jQuery that drops a menu down when its parent is clicked on, and dismisses it when they hover away from the menu. I am wanting to change the behavior so that it only dismisses if they click somewhere else on the page, or a different menu. Is this possible? jQuery.fn.dropdown = function () { return this.each(function () { $('.ui-dropdown-list > li > a').click(function () { $(this).addClass("ui-dropdown-hover"); }); $("ul.ui-dropdown-list > li > a").click(function () { $(this).parent().find("ul").show(); $(this).parent().hover(function () { }, function () { $(this).parent().find("ul").hide(); $(this).find('> a').removeClass("ui-dropdown-hover"); }); }); }); };
