  • how to make complex selectors with 'this' jquery

    - by Stomped
    I have an event handler that needs to do something to one of its children, based on some saved data. So what I'm currently doing is something like this: // Get the ID of 'this' item_id = $(this).attr('id'); // building a selector like $('#item1 .child_3') $('#' + item_id + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); But this seems a little cumbersome. I've tried: $(this + ' .child_' + spVal).addClass('blah'); and it doesn't work, which doesn't really surprise me. Is there a better way to do this then the successful way I've outlined above?

  • Jquery UI autocomplete event change

    - by Stenly.k
    Hi I got a problem with change event. By documntation there should be object ui.item After an item was selected; ui.item refers to the selected item. Always triggered after the close event. But when I try it ui.item is undefined :( I want unset s_town_id when input in autocomplete doesn't match with data from script. Thx for any help. <input id="s_town" type="text" name="s_town" /> <input type="text" id="s_town_id" name="s_town_id" /> $(function() { $("#s_town").autocomplete({ source: function(request, response) { $.ajax({ url: "/_system/_ajax/uiautocomplete.php", dataType: "json", data: { name: "s_town", term: request.term }, success: function(data) { response($.map(data, function(item) { return { label: item.whisper_name+ " [" + item.zip_code + " / " + item.lup_state + "]", value: item.whisper_name, id: item.whisper_id, zip_code: item.zip_code, lup_state: item.lup_state, stateid: item.stateid } })) } }) }, minLength: 2, select: function(event, ui) { $("#s_town_id").val(ui.item.id); }, change: function(event, ui) { // ui.item is undefined :( where is the problem? $("#s_town_id").val(ui.item.id); } }); });

  • jQuery ajax request response is empty in Internet Explorer

    - by Aprilia1982
    Hi, I'm doing the following ajax call: //exif loader function LoadExif(cImage) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost:62414/Default1.aspx/GetImageExif", data: "{iCurrentImage:" + cImage + "}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", error: ajaxFailed, success: function (data, status) { var sStr = ''; for (var count in data.d) { sStr = sStr + data.d[count]; }; alert(sStr); } }); }; In Firefox the request works really fine. When I try to run the code in Internet Explorer, the response is empty. Here is the webmethod witch is called: <WebMethod()> _ <ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat:=ResponseFormat.Json)> _ Public Shared Function GetImageExif(ByVal iCurrentImage As Integer) As String Dim sbTable As New StringBuilder sbTable.AppendLine("<table>") sbTable.AppendLine("<tr>") sbTable.AppendLine("<td>Name</td><td>" & gGallery.Images(iCurrentImage).File.Name & "</td>") sbTable.AppendLine("</tr>") sbTable.AppendLine("</table>") Return sbTable.ToString End Function Any ideas? • Jquery image slider window resize scaling issue

    - by eb_Dev
    Hi, I have created image gallery slider, the images of which scale with the window size. My problem is I can't seem to create the right formula to ensure that the slider is at the right position when the window is scaled. If I am at the first image and the slider 'left' offset is 0 then the scaling works fine and my offset is correct, however when I am on image two and my slider is offset by say -1500 and then the window is resized, the slider is then at the wrong offset. Taking this into account I figured I could just add / subtract the new window size difference from the slider offset and therefore have everything in the right position. I was wrong. It works for the first two images but then If I am at the end of my slider on the last image I get a nice big gap between the end of the last image and the border of the page. Can someone please show my where I am going wrong please? I've spent days on this :( The relevant code is as follows: $(window).bind('resize', function(event, delta) { /* Resize work images - resizes all to document width */ resizeWorkImages('div.page.work div#work ul'); /* Position slider controls */ positionSliderControls(); /* Get the difference between the old window width and the new */ var windowDiff = (gLastWindowWidth - $(window).width()) * -1; /* Apply difference to slider left position */ var newSliderLeftPos = stripPx($('div.page.work div#work ul').css('left')) - windowDiff; /* Apply to slider */ $('div.page.work div#work ul').css('left',newSliderLeftPos+'px') /* Update gSlider settings */ gSlider.update(); /* Record new window width */ gLastWindowWidth = $(window).width(); }); Thanks, eb_dev

    Hi, I have a series of select boxes within a table like so: <tr> <td><select></select></td> <td><select></select></td> <td><select></select></td> <td><select></select></td> </tr> With about 10 rows. I'm trying to reset all of the select boxes in the row to a default value, but having trouble with the syntax, can anyone help? This is what I have at the moment, but it dosen't seem to be working: $(row).children('td > select').each().val('0'); Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  • jquery, javascript and callback timing

    - by Blankman
    var blah = Some.Thing(data, function(a,b) { // code here }); Some.Thing = function(data, callback) { var a = Other.Thing(data, function() { }); }; My question is, will the part that says //code here fire ONLY after everything else and their callbacks fire? The //code here part seems to fire, and there seems to be some timing issue.

  • $this.attr() stops Jquery dialog from opening

    - by user342391
    I am using the following code to post my form data to player/index.php and open it in a dialog. Because I have multiple of these forms in my table I need to use $(this). But now it doesn't open in a dialog. New code (doesn't open dialog but display data in url): $("#recordingdialog").dialog({ //other options, width, height, etc... modal: true, bgiframe: true, autoOpen: false, height: 200, width: 350, draggable: true, resizeable: true, title: "Play Recording",}); $(this).click(function() { $.post('player/index.php', $(this).attr('form').serialize(), function (data) { $("#recordingdialog").html(data).dialog("open"); }); return false; }); Old code (only works on one form): $("#recordingdialog").dialog({ //other options, width, height, etc... modal: true, bgiframe: true, autoOpen: false, height: 550, width: 550, draggable: true, resizeable: true, title: "Play Recording",}); $("#wavajax button").click(function() { $.post('player/index.php', $("#wavajax").serialize(), function (data) { $("#recordingdialog").html(data).dialog("open"); }); return false; });

    - by Tristan

  • Jquery file format

    - by sarbe
    HI. I have multiple webpages. So I have a common external js file. And I have added this js file to every page. I have multiple check boxes in every page. And I have written the click event in the external, common js file. But I wonder how the js file should be? Currently I have written like this. $(document).ready(function() { $(".chk").click(function() { alert("hi"); }); }); But whenever I click a checkbox the click event is fired twice. it should be once. I dont know where is the error, is there any error in writing the js file? please comment.

  • jQuery on() method not working for appended elements

    - by behz4d
    I know I should use on() method for triggering appended elements and not use click(), so: $('#change_profile_img').on('click', function(){ alert(1); }); so the above code is working fine on any elements unless the appended elements, for example, I'm appending: $('.companylogo:first').append('<a id="change_profile_img" class="ic_change">CHANGE IMAGE</a>'); after it's appended, it's not working, but after a page refresh it works just fine. Another thing that I should mention, I'm doing the append from a modal page, it appends the button and everything but I could not trigger it anymore... I would appreciate any kind of help. Thanks
