  • How to Execute an Oracle SQL Statements with VBScript

    - by Arno Conradie
I am trying to execute an Oracle SQL statement or Oracle Functions through Microsoft VBScript and the loop throught the result set or display the value returned by the function So far I have managed to connect to Oracle via SQLPlus*, but now I am stuck. Can anybody help? Dim output Dim WshShell, oExec, input set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") set oEnv=WshShell.Environment("Process") cmdString = "C:\Oracle\11g\product\11.1.0\ruby\BIN\sqlplus.exe -S stradmin/stradmin@ruby select * from dual" Set oExec = WshShell.Exec(cmdString) WScript.Echo "Status" & oExec.Status Do While oExec.Status = 0 WScript.Sleep 2 Loop input = "" Do While Not oExec.StdOut.AtEndOfStream input = input & oExec.StdOut.Read(1) Loop wscript.echo input

  • Android: setting up a google map class. bit of advice required.

    - by Capsud
Hey there, Ok so this is what i've got. Button anandabutton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.anandaAddressButton); anandabutton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { Intent myIntent = new Intent(view.getContext(),MapClass.class); startActivityForResult(myIntent,0); } }); This method opens up my MapClass class which at the moment I just have set to show the location of one place. But I have a load of buttons and rather than making a lot of different mapClass classes for each button, I am wondering can I just use the one class and depending on what button 'id' is pressed, it will check an 'if statement' and then put in the correct coordinates into the method to display the map. It would be a lot neater than coding up like 20-30 classes. I'm not sure if i've explained that right so if not let me know. Thanks for any help.

  • Textmate tab and de-tab selected block

    - by Derek Organ
Recently switched to Textmate on Mac for coding. On PC when ever I want to tab in or out a block of code I just highlight and press tab or shift+tab to move it in our out. It's very useful when you are adding an extra loop or conditional statement to a block of code to keep everything tidy and neatly indented. On Textmate however when I try this it just replaces my selected text with a tab. So is there a way to do tab and de-tab lines of code in textmate?

  • Most efficient way of checking for a return from a function call in Perl

    - by Gaurav Dadhania
I want to add the return value from the function call to an array iff something is returned (not by default, i.e. if I have a return statement in the subroutine.) so I'm using unshift @{$errors}, "HashValidator::$vfunction($hashref)"; but this actually adds the string of the function call to the array. I also tried unshift @{$errors}, $temp if defined my $temp = "HashValidator::$vfunction($hashref)"; with the same result. What would a perl one-liner look like that does this efficiently (I know I can do the ugly, multi-line check but I want to learn). Thanks,

  • How to convert Beautiful Soup Unicode into a decimal value?

    - by MikeTheCoder
I'm trying to Use python's Beautiful Soup Library to grab a bunch of divs from an html file, and from there get the string - which is a money value - that's inside the div. Then remove the dollar sign and convert it to a decimal so that I can use a greater than and less than conditional statement to compare values. I have googled the heck out of it and can't seem to come up with a way to convert this unicode string into a decimal value. I really could use some help here. How do I convert unicode into a decimal value? This was my last attempt: import unicodedata from bs4 import BeautifulSoup soup = BeautifulSoup(open("/Users/sm/Documents/python/htmldemo.html")) for tag in soup.findAll("div",attrs={"itemprop":"price"}) : val = tag.string new_val = val[8:] workable = int(new_val) if workable > 250: print(type(workable)) else: print(type(workable)) Edit: When I print the type of new_val I get : print(type(new_val))

  • HD Crash SQL server -> DBCC - consistency errors in table 'sysindexes'

    - by Julian de Wit
Hello A client of mine has had an HD crash an a SQL DB got corrupt : They did not make backups so they have a big problem. When I tried (an ultimate measure) to DBCC-repair I got the following message. Can anybody help me with this ? Server: Msg 8966, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Could not read and latch page (1:872) with latch type SH. sysindexes failed. Server: Msg 8944, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Table error: Object ID 2, index ID 0, page (1:872), row 11. Test (columnOffsets->IsComplex (varColumnNumber) && (ColumnId == COLID_HYDRA_TEXTPTR || ColumnId == COLID_INROW_ROOT || ColumnId == COLID_BACKPTR)) failed. Values are 2 and 5. The repair level on the DBCC statement caused this repair to be bypassed. CHECKTABLE found 0 allocation errors and 1 consistency errors in table 'sysindexes' (object ID 2). DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

  • Simplest way of creating java next/previous buttons

    - by Holly
I know that when creating buttons, like next and previous, that the code can be somewhat long to get those buttons to function. My professor gave us this example to create the next button: private void jbtnNext_Click() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Next" ,"Button Pressed", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); try { if (rset.next()) { fillTextFields(false); }else{ //Display result in a dialog box JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Not found"); } } catch (SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } Though, I do not really understand how that short and simple if statement is what makes the next button function. I see that the fillTextFields(false) uses a boolean value and that you need to initialize that boolean value in the beginning of the code I believe. I had put private fillTextFields boolean = false; but this does not seem to be right... I'm just hoping someone could explain it better. Thanks :)

  • C++ Why am I unable to use an enum declared globally outside of the class it was declared in?

    - by VGambit
Right now, my project has two classes and a main. Since the two classes inherit from each other, they are both using forward declarations. In the first object, right underneath the #include statement, I initialize two enums, before the class definition. I can use both enums just fine inside that class. However, if I try to use those enums in the other class, which inherits from the first one, I get an error saying the enum has not been declared. If I try to redefine the enum in the second class, I get a redefinition error. I have even tried using a trick I just read about, and putting each enum in its own namespace; that didn't change anything.

  • Adding Postgres table cells based on same value

    - by russell kinch
I have a table called expenses. There are numerous columns but the ones involved in my php page are date, spplierinv, amount. I have created a page that lists all the expenses in a given month and totals it at the end. However, each row has a value, but many rows might be on the same supplier invoice. This means adding each row with the same supplierinv to get a total as per my bank statement. Is there anyway I can get a total for the rows based on the supplierinv. I mean say I have 10 rows. 5 on supplierinv 4, two on supplierinv 5 and 3 on supplierinv 12, how can a get 3 figures (inv 4, 5 and 12) and the grand total at the bottom. Many thanks

  • How do you access the value of an SQL count () query in a Java program

    - by Ankur
    I want to get to the value I am finding using the COUNT command of SQL. Normally I enter the column name I want to access into the getInt() getString() method, what do I do in this case when there is no specific column name. I have used 'AS' in the same manner as is used to alias a table, I am not sure if this is going to work, I would think not. Statement stmt3 = con.createStatement(); ResultSet rs3 = stmt3.executeQuery("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM "+lastTempTable+") AS count"); while(rs3.next()){ count = rs3.getInt("count"); }

  • Rails 3 beta 1 - Nested layouts - LocalJumpError

    - by Art Shayderov
Hi Nested layouts do not work in Rails 3. After I hit this I tried Rails Guides Example on a blank project (both ruby 1.9.1 and 1.8.7). LocalJumpError no block given on line <%= yield :stylesheets %. If you remove this line you will get the same error on the next yield statement. Could someone fix(patch) this? It's probably just a matter of calling block_given? in the right place. That would be great. Thanks Added on 4/3: Rails 3 beta 2 released. Problem fixed.

  • introduce a join to this query, possible?

    - by Iain Urquhart
    I'm trying to introduce a join to this query: SELECT `n`.*, round((`n`.`rgt` - `n`.`lft` - 1) / 2, 0) AS childs, count(*) - 1 + (`n`.`lft` > 1) + 1 AS level, ((min(`p`.`rgt`) - `n`.`rgt` - (`n`.`lft` > 1)) / 2) > 0 AS lower, (((`n`.`lft` - max(`p`.`lft`) > 1))) AS upper FROM `exp_node_tree_6` `n`, `exp_node_tree_6` `p`, `exp_node_tree_6` WHERE `n`.`lft` BETWEEN `p`.`lft` AND `p`.`rgt` AND ( `p`.`node_id` != `n`.`node_id` OR `n`.`lft` = 1 ) GROUP BY `n`.`node_id` ORDER BY `n`.`lft` by adding LEFT JOIN `exp_channel_titles` ON (`n`.`entry_id`=`exp_channel_titles`.`entry_id`) after the FROM statement... But when I introduce it, it fails with "Unknown column 'n.entry_id' in 'on clause'" Is it even possible to add a join to this query? Can anybody help, thanks!

  • Question about pipe in Perl

    - by Uri
The following code is working sort of fine: open( PIPE, '-|', 'ant' ); for( <PIPE> ) { print; } However, it doesn't do what I want. Since the Ant build can take 5 minutes, I would like to see the output line by line. Instead, I'm getting the entire input at the end of the process. Looking at it with the Perl debugger, Perl waits at the 'for' statement, until Ant terminates. Why is that?

  • rails large amount of data in single insert activerecord gave out

    - by Nik
So I have I think around 36,000 just to be safe, a number I wouldn't think was too large for a modern sql database like mysql. Each record has just two attributes. So I do: so I collected them into one single insert statement sql = "INSERT INTO tasks (attrib_a, attrib_b) VALUES (c1,d1),(c2,d2),(c3,d3)...(c36000,d36000);" ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute sql from C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract_adapter.rb:219:in `log' from C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.5/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/mysql_adapter.rb:323:in `execute_without_analyzer from c:/r/projects/vendor/plugins/rails-footnotes/lib/rails-footnotes/notes/queries_note.rb:130:in `execute' from C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/1.8/benchmark.rb:308:in `realtime' from c:/r/projects/vendor/plugins/rails-footnotes/lib/rails-footnotes/notes/queries_note.rb:130:in `execute' from (irb):53 from C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.5/lib/active_support/vendor/tzinfo-0.3.12/tzinfo/time_or_datetime.rb:242 I don't know if the above info is enough, please do ask for anything that I didn't provide here. So any idea what this is about? THANK YOU!!!!

  • How does Ruby's Enumerator object iterate externally over an internal iterator?

    - by Salman Paracha
As per Ruby's documentation, the Enumerator object uses the each method (to enumerate) if no target method is provided to the to_enum or enum_for methods. Now, let's take the following monkey patch and its enumerator, as an example o = Object.new def o.each yield 1 yield 2 yield 3 end e = o.to_enum loop do puts e.next end Given that the Enumerator object uses the each method to answer when next is called, how do calls to the each method look like, every time next is called? Does the Enumeartor class pre-load all the contents of o.each and creates a local copy for enumeration? Or is there some sort of Ruby magic that hangs the operations at each yield statement until next is called on the enumeartor? If an internal copy is made, is it a deep copy? What about I/O objects that could be used for external enumeration? I'm using Ruby 1.9.2.

  • How do I select and group by a portion of a string?

    - by Russ Bradberry
Given I have data like the following, how can I select and group by portions of a string? Version Users 1.1.1 1 1.1.23 3 1.1.45 1 2.1.24 3 2.1.12 1 2.1.45 3 3.1.10 1 3.1.23 3 What I want is to sum up the users using version 1.1.x and 2.2.x and 3.3.x etc, but I'm not sure how I can group on a partial string in a select statement. edit What the data should return like is this: Version Users 1.1.XX 5 2.1.XX 7 3.1.XX 4 There is an infinite variable number of versions, some are in this format (major, minor, build) some are just major, minor and some are just major, the only time I want to "roll up" the versions is when there is a build.

  • What are some "mental steps" a developer must take to begin moving from SQL to NO-SQL (CouchDB, Fath

    - by Byron Sommardahl
I have my mind firmly wrapped around relational databases and how to code efficiently against them. Most of my experience is with MySQL and SQL. I like many of the things I'm hearing about document-based databases, especially when someone in a recent podcast mentioned huge performance benefits. So, if I'm going to go down that road, what are some of the mental steps I must take to shift from SQL to NO-SQL? If it makes any difference in your answer, I'm a C# developer primarily (today, anyhow). I'm used to ORM's like EF and Linq to SQL. Before ORMs, I rolled my own objects with generics and datareaders. Maybe that matters, maybe it doesn't. Here are some more specific: How do I need to think about joins? How will I query without a SELECT statement? What happens to my existing stored objects when I add a property in my code? (feel free to add questions of your own here)

  • PHP: $_POST array to XML file and display results.

    - by user633264
I'm creating a "Madlibs" page where visitors can create funny story things online. The original files are in XML format with the blanks enclosed in XML tags (Such as blablabla <PluralNoun></PluralNoun> blablabla <Verb></Verb> ). The form data is created using XSL and the results are saved using a $_POST array. How do I post the $_POST array between the matching XML tags and then display the result to the page? I'm sure it uses a "foreach" statement, but I'm just not familiar enough with PHP to figure out what functions to use. Any help would be great. Thanks, E

  • mysql boolean joins

    - by user280381
I want to use a JOIN to return a boolean result. Here's an example of the data... t1 id | data | 1 | abcd | 2 | 2425 | 3 | xyz | t2 id | data | t1_id | 1 | 75 | 2 | 2 | 79 | 2 | 3 | 45 | 3 | So with these two tables I want to select all the data from t1, and also whether a given variable appears in t2.data for each id. So say the variable is 79, the results should be id | data | t2_boolean 1 | abcd | 0 2 | abcd | 1 3 | xyz | 0 So I'm thinking some sort of join is needed, but without a WHERE clause. I've been banging my head about this one. Is it possible? I really need it inside the same statement as I want to sort results by the boolean field. As the boolean needs to be a field, can I put a join inside of a field? Thanks...

  • Can I customize the indentation of ternary operators in emacs' cperl-mode?

    - by Ryan Thompson
    In emacs cperl-mode, ternary operators are not treated specially. If you break them over multiple lines, cperl-mode simply indents each line the same way it indents any continued statement, like this: $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; This is not very readable. Is there some way that I can convince cperl-mode indent like this? $result = ($foo == $bar) ? 'result1' : ($foo == $baz) ? 'result2' : ($foo == $qux) ? 'result3' : ($foo == $quux) ? 'result4' : fail_result; By the way, code example from this question.

  • Separating an Array into a comma seperated string with quotes

    - by user548744
I'm manually building an SQL query where I'm using an Array in the params hash for an SQL IN statement, like: ("WHERE my_field IN('blue','green','red')"). So I need to take the contents of the array and output them into a string where each element is single quoted and comma seperated (and with no ending comma). So if the array was: my_array = ['blue','green','red'] I'd need a string that looked like: "'blue','green','red'" I'm pretty new to Ruby/Rails but came up with something that worked: if !params[:colors].nil? @categories_array = params[:colors][:categories] @categories_string ="" for x in @categories_array @categories_string += "'" + x + "'," end @categories_string.chop! #remove the last comma end So, I'm good but curious as to what a proper and more consise way of doing this would look like? Thanks
