• POST data getting lost: Content Length = 0

  I've been trying to find a solution for ages with no success. On our app, customers submit a form and on the next page we process it. Sometimes though the data never arrives. This seems to happen for just a few of our customers. Seems to happen with IE7 and using a proxy. • PHP Regex to remove nested form elements but not input elements

  I'm modifying a PHP script that I have and it is currently outputting a nested form. Something like: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <p>stuff here here, this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> <div>stuff here possibilly</div> Username: <input type="text" name="user" /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> <p>otherstuff this may or may not be in a div, script, etc..</p> </form> Nested form's are a no-no (IE hates them and basically causes the form to stop working), so I need to remove the nested form lines, but not the form items. I need to remove the nested: <form name="input" action="html_form_action.asp" method="get"> and </form> but not the outer <form and </form> or the input or submit stuff. Is this possible to do with regex? Note, the reason I just want to regex out the form rather than find the problem is because I know it will take some significant re-working to get rid of the double form... the regex solution is quick for now.

• onsubmit() does not work.

  Here is something that I find disturbing. I created a small form, and I'm using AJAX to validate for me. I have a javascript function authenticate() that works sometimes. <form method="post" action="" id="login_form" onsubmit="authenticate()";> // various inputs <input type="button" onclick="authenticate()" value="Log In"> </form> authenticate() works just fine when I click the button. However, if I press enter the form is submitted, and it fails. It also fails if I call onSubmit(). In my debugging, I alert the outgoing texts-- they are identical. However, the Prototype Ajax function calls it the onSuccess, but there is just no response from the server. (The server outputs either "Success" or "Failure"). Why the different behaviors for onClick() vs onSubmit()? The exact same function is called, but the results are different. Any help would be appreciated. --Dave

• How to create a view to manage associations between HABTM models? (Rails)

  Hello, I am using Ruby on Rails and need to create a view that allows the creation of records through a HABTM relationship to another model. Specifically, I have the following models: Customer and ServiceOverride, and a join table customers_serviceoverrides. Using the customer view for create/update, I need to be able to create, update and delete ServiceOverrides and manage the attributes of the associated model(s) from the same view. Visually I'd prefer to have something like a plus/minus sign to add/delete service overrides, and each serviceoverride record has two string entities which need to be displayed and editable as well. However, if I could just get the code (a kind of nested form, I'm assuming?) working, I could work out the UI aspects. The models are pretty simple: class ServiceOverride < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :customers end class Customer < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :serviceoverrides end The closest thing I've found explaining this online is on this blog but it doesn't really address what I'm trying to do (both manage the linkages to the other model, and edit attributes of that model. • WCF Web Service chnage wsdl name and targetNamespace

  All, I'm a little new to WCF over IIS but have done some ASMX web services before. My WCF service is up and running but the helper page generated by the web service for me has the default names, i.e. the page that says: You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://localhost:53456/ServicesHost.svc?wsdl In a standard ASMX site I would use method/class attributes to give the web service a name and a namespace. When I click on the link the WSDL has: <wsdl:definitions name="SearchServices" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/" i.e. not the WCF Service Contract Name and Namespace from my Interface. I assume the MEX is using some kind of default settings but I'd like to change them to be the correct names. How can I do this?

• website creation - for non web programmers?

  I thought I would find decent questions and answers for this, but none really caught my eye... I am a C++ developer and I own a few domains. I'd like to start off with simple web sites for each with a minimum of time and fuss and minimum learning. I have too many projects going and don't have the time to learn how to build websites. One is for a company that currently has only a single product with custom development as well. I hacked together some really bad html with paypal links on it. It is just one simple product. I want to add uservoice to it and maybe some other stuff like FAQ, forums, etc. Right now I just link to a google group I created. Another is a startup in development phase, but we want to provide simple content like whitepapers and press releases and a section for investors. - mostly an "about us" type of thing. We will also be providing details about our product. Then there is a blog site - currently using godaddy's quickblogcast. Not a bad start but I suspect I want to move to something else. The question is - is there a framework that I can use that will make decent, if not outstanding, sites? Again, I have my hands full with three projects in addition to my day job and don't have time to learn web programming. I also don;t want to just pay a web person and then be out in the cold for upgrades, changes, etc. I have been burned before. I am happy with a web-based app or a desktop app that builds html or whatever and then I can ftp it up to the hosting servers. To summarize: - simple to get started - low time to get a web page going - ability to integrate with a few hand-done pages - pay pal integration - uservoice integration - ability to put under my svn would be nice too EDIT Thanks to the responders. I understand now why my original searches failed. I was not searching for "CMS". I'll go back and do that. I would expect that this is a many-times-duplicate... EDIT: I am considering using Wordpress and Drupal - one for each of the sites. I did one Drupal site quickly just so I could qualify for one of the Microsoft programs for discounted dev tools - anyway - it was a quick and dirty homepage and I am still on the learning curve. I look forward to playing with it. So far it has been ok. I am not sure about doing a taste-test between the two - might be a waste of time where I could just become that much better at Drupal faster than spending time on wordpress... Will keep updated. EDIT: Selecting the Drupal answer by slim for now. That is what I am going with. Don't have time to check them all out. Wordpress sounds like a good option too, but such limited time... Results: I have tried wordpress and drupal so far. Wordpress is great for blogging or for a site that you want to run ads from, but I disagree that it is ready for a corporate site, unless you want to spend lots of time making your own theme, etc. But if you spend that time, why not work with drupal? Drupal was a little intimidating at first - but after spending about 4 hours reading the overview and step-by-step guide online was a HUGE step. I got a simple site up and running easily after that. Trying to make a website just by going to the admin panel without reading anything is a waste of time. You really need to read the docs. The site is great. start here: http://drupal.org/getting-started I'd suggest drupal to anyone. It has amazing capabilities, lots of support and lots of users. Just doing blogging? Wordpress is really great for that. So now I've got two sites running with a lot of the functionality I wanted - and they look good. ONE MORE EDIT Well, I have switched back to wordpress after buying a theme and then getting help from web developers. I guess either one will work - it is just a matter of getting comfortable witht he basics, using the right tools and trying things out.

  I've recently been trying out Ankhsvn and I quite like it, and more importantly, it generally likes me. But I've hit a problem adding existing VS projects to subversion using AnkhSVN. Most Windows and Web projects are added fine, but I have a problem when I try to a Websites (as opposed to Web Applications), and in these cases I get the following error: No versioned parent directories After some googling, I've come across other people with the same problems and there have been one or two suggests for solving the problem, but non so far have worked. AnkhSVN is popular enough, and although web applications are often preferred to websites these days, I'm hoping that someone here has a ready solution available.

  Reading from the googleVis package vignette: "With the googleVis package users can create easily web pages with interactive charts based on R data frames and display them either via the R.rsp package or within their own sites". Following the instructions I was able to see the sample charts, using the plot method for gvis objects. This method by default creates a rsp-file in the rsp/myAnalysis folder of the googleVis package, using the type and chart id information of the object and displays the output using the local web server of the R.rsp package (port 8074 by default). Could anybody help me (or provide some link) on the procedure someone has to follow in order to embed such charts into an existing web site (e.g. a joomla site)?

• cgi.FieldStorage translating unicode strangely

  I have a form that is on a UTF-8 encoded page. When I submit the form cgi.FieldStorage converts any non-ascii character to an odd format. For example if I submit the value c. The browser will send %c4%87. I want to convert that to the string \xc4\x87. I have absolutely no idea why, as I know all the surrounding functions execute, and First_Array is populated.   Hi, I recently started to use AjaxControlToolkit v3.0.30930.0 in my application together with System.Web.Extension 3.5. My development environment is Visual Studio 2005, .NET Framework 2.0 and the development language is C#. The Ajax control I used is the ModalPopupExtender. I also used the UpdatePanel and updateprogress controls. Everything is working fine on my development machine. But I got a problem after I deployed the application to a server which does not have System.Web.Extension 3.5 installed, which is understandable. My question is, can the ajax controls I used work without System.Web.Extension 3.5? Say I revert the ajaxcontroltoolkit back to version 1.0.61025.0? I don't have the option to install .NET 3.5 as yet. Thank you for your help. John

• MS Access form_current() firing multiple times

  I have a form with two subforms (on separate tab pages). It's an MDB project in Access 2003. When it initially opens, Form_Current on the active subform fires once, as it should. But when you move to another record (ie. from the main form), it fires Form_Current on the active subform 4 times. Then subsequent record-moves result in Form_Current firing 2 times. This is a pain, because the subforms have a lot of fields that get moved and/or hidden and so it jumps around for every Form_Current, not to mention being slow. I am opening the form with a filter via DoCmd.OpenForm (actually it sends the filter in via OpenArgs). FilterOn is only set once, in Form_Open on the main form, never in the subforms. Form_Current is not called explicitly anywhere else in the code. When I look at the call stack when Form_Current fires moving the first time, it looks like: my_subform.Form_Current [<Debug Window>] my_subform.Form_Current So it seems like something in Form_Current is triggering another Form_Current event. But only on the first record move. The code in Form_Current is somewhat complex, involving custom classes and event callbacks, but generally does not touch the table data. The only thing I can think might be triggering a Form_Current is that it checks OldValue on form controls - could this be causing it? Or anything else come to mind? Thanks. Eric
