But I donot know what is tha problem that the background color of my renderer always seems to be white. I have post the code. please help where I am wrong so that the background color becomes white. class CheckTreeCellRenderer extends JPanel implements TreeCellRenderer { private CheckTreeSelectionModel selectionModel; private MyRenderer delegate; private TristateCheckBox checkBox = new TristateCheckBox("", null, true); public static final State NOT_SELECTED = new State(); public static final State SELECTED = new State(); public static final State DONT_CARE = new State(); public CheckTreeCellRenderer(MyRenderer delegate, CheckTreeSelectionModel selectionModel) { this.delegate = delegate; this.selectionModel = selectionModel; setLayout(new BorderLayout()); setOpaque(true); setBackground(new Color(207, 219, 234)); checkBox.setState(Boolean.TRUE); checkBox.setOpaque(true); checkBox.setBackground(new Color(207, 219, 234)); } public Component getTreeCellRendererComponent(JTree tree, Object value, boolean selected, boolean expanded, boolean leaf, int row, boolean hasFocus) { Component renderer = delegate.getTreeCellRendererComponent(tree, value, selected, expanded, leaf, row, hasFocus); TreePath path = tree.getPathForRow(row); if (path != null) { if (selectionModel.isPathSelected(path, true)) { checkBox.setState(Boolean.TRUE); } else { checkBox.setState(selectionModel.isPartiallySelected(path) ? null : Boolean.FALSE); } } renderer.setBackground(new Color(207, 219, 234)); tree.setOpaque(true); tree.setBackground(new Color(207, 219, 234)); this.setOpaque(true); this.setBackground(new Color(207, 219, 234)); add(checkBox, BorderLayout.WEST); add(renderer, BorderLayout.CENTER); return this; } }

  • Drawing graphics on top of a JButton

    - by trinth
    I have a situation wherein I have a bunch of JButtons on a GridLayout. I need each of the JButtons to have: a background image (but retain the ability to keep the default button look if needed) custom graphics drawn on top by other classes I have no trouble with the background image, since I am using setIcon() but I am having problems drawing things on top of the background. At one point I was able to draw on top of the button, but after the button was clicked, the drawings disappeared. How can make the button keep this drawing state? Basically, I need a way for my JButtons to have public methods that would allow another class to draw anything on it such as: public void drawSomething() { Graphics g = this.getGraphics(); g.drawOval(3,2,2,2); repaint(); } or public Graphics getGraphics() { return this.getGraphics(); } then another class could do this: button.getGraphics().drawSomething(); The latter is more what I am looking for but the first is equally useful. Is there any way to go about this? Also, overriding the parent class method paintComponent() doesn't help since I need each button to have different graphics.

  • Error with swig: undefined symbol: _ZN7hosters11hostersLink7getLinkEi

    - by Eduardo
    I'm trying to make a python binding for the this library: http://code.google.com/p/hosterslib/. I'm using swig, heres is the code: %module pyhosters %{ include "hosters/hosters.hpp" %} %include "hosters/hosters.hpp" I run "swig -c++ -python -o swig_wrap.cxx swig.i" and I compile with "g++ -O2 -fPIC -shared -o _pyhosters.so swig_wrap.cxx python-config --libs --cflags -lhosters -lcln -lhtmlcxx pkg-config libglog --libs --cflags -I/usr/include/python2.6 -Wall -Wextra" But when I run python and I import it, I get: import pyhosters Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in File "./pyhosters.py", line 7, in import _pyhosters ImportError: ./_pyhosters.so: undefined symbol: _ZN7hosters11hostersLink7getLinkEi How can I solve that? Thanks.

  • Adding label and text box control to GUI

    - by Mike
    I would like to know what code to insert and where to add a simple label that can just say the word "Label" and a input text box that I can enter a number. public CalculateDimensions() { JTabbedPane Tab = new JTabbedPane(); JPanel jplInnerPanel1 = createInnerPanel("First Tab"); Tab.addTab("One", jplInnerPanel1); Tab.setSelectedIndex(0); JPanel jplInnerPanel2 = createInnerPanel("Second Tab"); Tab.addTab("Two", jplInnerPanel2); JPanel jplInnerPanel3 = createInnerPanel("Third Tab"); Tab.addTab("Three", jplInnerPanel3); JPanel jplInnerPanel4 = createInnerPanel("Fourth Tab"); Tab.addTab("Four", jplInnerPanel4); JPanel jplInnerPanel5 = createInnerPanel("Fifth Tab"); Tab.addTab("Five", jplInnerPanel5); setLayout(new GridLayout(1, 1)); add(Tab); } protected JPanel createInnerPanel(String text) { JPanel jplPanel = new JPanel(); JLabel jlbDisplay = new JLabel(text); jlbDisplay.setHorizontalAlignment(JLabel.CENTER); jplPanel.setLayout(new GridLayout(1, 1)); jplPanel.add(jlbDisplay); return jplPanel; } public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame frame = new JFrame("Calculations"); frame.addWindowListener(new WindowAdapter() { public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e) { System.exit(0); } }); frame.getContentPane().add(new CalculateDimensions(), BorderLayout.CENTER); frame.setSize(400, 400); frame.setVisible(true); } }

  • How can I remove a JPanel from a JFrame?

    - by Roman
    Recently I asked here how to add a new JPanel to JFrame. The answer helped me to get a working code. But not I have a related question: "How can I remove an old JPanel". I need that because of the following problem. A new JPanel appears appears when I want (either time limit is exceeded or user press the "Submit" button). But in several seconds some element of the old JPanel appears together with the component of the new JPanel. I do not understand why it happens. I thought that it is because I have to other threads which update the window. But the first thread just add the old panel once (so, it should be finished). And in the second thread I have a loop which is broken (so, it also should be finished). Here is my code: private Thread controller = new Thread() { public void run() { // First we set the initial pane (for the selection of partner). SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { frame.getContentPane().add(generatePartnerSelectionPanel()); frame.invalidate(); frame.validate(); } }); // Update the pane for the selection of the parnter. for (int i=40; i>0; i=i-1) { final int sec = i; SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { timeLeftLabel.setText(sec + " seconds left."); } }); try {Thread.sleep(1000);} catch (InterruptedException e) {} if (partnerSubmitted) {break;} } // For the given user the selection phase is finished (either the time is over or form was submitted). SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { frame.getContentPane().add(generateWaitForGamePanel()); frame.invalidate(); frame.validate(); } }); } };

  • JFrame.setBackground() not working -- why?

    - by devoured elysium
    JFrame mainFrame = new JFrame(); mainFrame.setSize(100, 100); mainFrame.setBackground(Color.CYAN); mainFrame.setVisible(true); My intent is to create a window with a cyan background. What is wrong with this? My window doesn't get cyan, as I'd expect! Also, could anyone point out why I seem to have all the colors in duplicate (there's a Color.CYAN and a Color.cyan). Is there any difference at all between the two? Maybe the older one was a constant from before there were enums in Java and the second one is from the Enum? Thanks

  • How to check whether the tab is active or not in JTabbedPane?

    - by Supereme
    Hi, How to check whether a tab in JTabbedPane instance is active or not, in the class of the tab(nested class) itself and not in the enclosing class? I know that there is a method 'booloean isEnabledAt(int index)'; but this method can only be called in the enclosing class whereas I want to check whether the tab is currently selected or not in the tab class (nested class) itself. Can anybody please suggest me something? Thank you!

  • Change size of ImageIcon in a JRadioButton

    - by Frederik Wordenskjold
    I simply want to change the size (diameter) of the actual (default) ImageIcon of my JRadioButton. I've changed the size of the font displayed in the widget, so it really looks silly with such a large radiobutton. JRadioButton button = new JRadioButton("Button"); button.setFont(new Font("Lucida Grande",Font.PLAIN, 11)); gives me this giant button: Do I really have to create my own ImageIcon? Or can I somehow scale the default one, without too much of a hassle?

  • How to get components from a JFrame with a GridLayout?

    - by NlightNfotis
    I have a question about Java and JFrame in particular. Let's say I have a JFrame that I am using with a GridLayout. Supposing that I have added JButtons in the JFrame, how can I gain access to the one I want using it's position (by position, I mean a x and a y, used to define the exact place on the Grid). I have tried several methods, for instance getComponentAt(int x, int y), and have seen that those methods do not work as intended when combined with GridLayout, or at least don't work as intended in my case. So I tried using getComponent(), which seems fine. The latest method, that seems to be on a right track for me is (assuming I have a JFrame with a GridLayout with 7 rows and 7 columns, x as columns, y as rows): public JButton getButtonByXAndY(int x, int y) { return (JButton) this.getContentPane().getComponent((y-1) * 7 + x); } Using the above, say I want to get the JButton at (4, 4), meaning the 25th JButton in the JFrame, I would index through the first 21 buttons at first, and then add 4 more, finally accessing the JButton I want. Problem is this works like that in theory only. Any ideas? P.S sorry for linking to an external website, but stack overflow won't allow me to upload the image, because I do not have the required reputation.

  • JButton Image Ignoring GridBagConstraints

    - by daemor
    I am working on an application and have a screen that needs to have elements (namely some custom JButtons) appear and disappear based on a user selection. However for some reason, when I add these buttons to their pane, the buttton image goes to the top corner, and leaves the text in the center, completely ignoring GridBagConstraints. I am completely stumped on this one as I have done this same exact thing dozens of times earlier in the program without any issues. Here is an image of the problem: The problem is in this method here, and occurs down towards the bottom. public void init(){ contentPane.removeAll(); // Setup jlabels JLabel countyLabel = new JLabel("County"); countyLabel.setFont(new Font("Times New Roman", Font.PLAIN, 18)); JLabel measureByLabel = new JLabel("Measure By: "); measureByLabel.setFont(new Font("Times New Roman", Font.PLAIN, 18)); String[] countyChoices = {"Washtenaw", "Oakland", "Livingston"}; // setup components JComboBox<String> countyCombo = new JComboBox<String>(countyChoices); // place baseComponents c.weightx = 0.5; c.weighty = 0.5; c.gridx = 0; c.gridy = 0; c.anchor = GridBagConstraints.NORTH; contentPane.add(countyLabel, c); c.gridx = 2; contentPane.add(countyCombo, c); c.gridy = 1; c.gridx = 0; contentPane.add(trenchButton, c); c.gridx = 2; contentPane.add(bedButton, c); c.gridy = 2; c.gridx = 1; contentPane.add(systemSelection, c); c.gridy = 3; c.gridx = 0; contentPane.add(lengthButton, c); c.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH; c.gridwidth = 4; c.gridy = 4; c.gridx = 0; contentPane.add(choicePane, c); GridBagConstraints con = new GridBagConstraints(); con.weightx = 0.5; con.weighty = 0.5; con.gridx = 0; con.gridy = 0; choicePane.add(lengthButton, c); // revalidate and repaint choicePane.revalidate(); choicePane.repaint(); contentPane.revalidate(); contentPane.repaint(); } I have tried doing this in separate methods, the button looks fine when added to the contentPane, the pane is for sure set to gridbagconstraints as I used the expression JPanel choicePane = new JPanel(new GridBagLayout()) to initialize it.

  • Java Stopping JApplet Components from Resizing based on Applet Size

    - by Doug
    Creating a JApplet I have 2 Text Fields, a button and a Text Area. private JPanel addressEntryPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(1,3)); private JPanel outputPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(1,1)); private JTextField serverTf = new JTextField(""); private JTextField pageTf = new JTextField(""); private JTextArea outputTa = new JTextArea(); private JButton connectBt = new JButton("Connect"); private JScrollPane outputSp = new JScrollPane(outputTa); public void init() { setSize(500,500); setLayout(new GridLayout(3,1)); add(addressEntryPanel); addressEntryPanel.add(serverTf); addressEntryPanel.add(pageTf); addressEntryPanel.add(connectBt); addressEntryPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50,50)); addressEntryPanel.setMaximumSize(addressEntryPanel.getPreferredSize()); addressEntryPanel.setMinimumSize(addressEntryPanel.getPreferredSize()); add(outputPanel); outputPanel.add(outputSp); outputTa.setLineWrap(true); connectBt.addActionListener(this); The problem is when debugging and putting it in a page the components / panels resize depending on the applet size. I don't want this. I want the textfields to be a certain size, and the text area to be a certain size. I've put stuff in there to set the size of them but they aren't working. How do I go about actually setting a strict size for either the components or the JPanel.

  • Is it possible to include JButton in a JTable?

    - by Benjamin Confino
    I have a JTable that stores the results of a database query, so far so good. What I want is for the last column in each table to have a clickible JButton that will open the edit screen for the object represented in that row, and that means the button will need to know the details of the first column in the table from its own row (the ID from the database). Any advice? I already tried just adding JButtons but they turned into Text when I tried to run it.

  • Netbeans GUI editor problems

    - by RenegadeAndy
    Hey guys. Im making a portion of my app using the netbeans gui editor. Great so far. However ive added a new checkbox - and when i load the panel in my app the text attribute isnt shown...its just blank as if i have no caption on it... all the other ones display - so this is very annoying. It kind of seems that I have hit the limit on gui items or something, becasue any new items I add I cannot seem then, If i add new labels they dont show either :S! The other problems Im having are that the size of the window im editting appears to be fixed - every time i change it, it jumps back to the same size - how do i stop this from happening? Cheers Andy
