  • How to display a confirmation message in Tapestry5?

    I am developing a website as part of my final year project and I want to display a message which confirms that an email has been sent. I know how to display custom error messages on a form i.e. You cannot go any further until the following errors are fixed : login name not known! I want to display a message which will say: your email has been sent! after I send an email. I have been told that I should display this message through the flash. I am unsure on how to do this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have some user-specific data that I need to store in SharePoint and make accessible to the user through custom webparts. Let's say a list of favorite URLs. What would be the most straightforward way to store this information? Some builtin propertybag for SPUser or similar that I'm not aware of. SPList, associated through User column. Custom database table, associated through SPUser ID. Otherwise? Sounds like a RTFM to me, but I'm probably asking google the wrong questions.

  • Where is Win7's jump list data stored?

    As per Jumplist Extender, I'm trying to prevent other apps from refreshing their jump lists (it's assumed that the user WANTS to do this, seeing as this is a JL editor.) One idea is to look for file or registry changes, where the data may be stored, and prevent the data from being written to. The question is, where is the jump list data stored? It has to be somewhere! I know there's a folder location for pinned items, but I forgot what it is. It'd be great if I can get the "task" data, as well. Here's the original report.

    This should be relatively easy to do, but after several hours straight programming my mind seems a bit frazzled and could do with some help. I have a C++ class which I am currently using to store read/write data to file. I was initially using binary data, but have decided to store the data as CSV in order to let programs written in other languages be able to load the data. The C++ class looks a bit like this: class BinaryData { public: BinaryData(); void serialize(std::ostream& output) const; void deserialize(std::istream& input); private: Header m_hdr; std::vector<Row> m_rows; }; I am simply rewriting the serialize/deserialize methods to write to a CSV file. I am not sure on the "best" way to store a header section and a "data" section in a "flat" CSV file though - any suggestions on the most sensible way to do this?

    I am using the following code in Wordpress to query events (custom post type) and order them by date chronologically.. query_posts( array( 'post_type' => 'events', 'showposts' => 10, 'orderby' => 'meta_value_num','meta_key' => '_ecmb_datetime' ) ); Where the meta key _ecmb_datetime is, this is the timestamp of the event. I don't want to show events that have already happened, so my question is how do I only show events happening after my current time, and how do I sort reverse chronologically? Any help is greatly appreciated

    I just looked into wikipedia's entry on out-of-band data and as far as I understand, OOB data is somehow flagged more important and treated as ordinary data, but transmitted in a seperate stream, which profoundly confuses me. The actual question would be (besides "Could someone explain what OOB data is?"): I'm writing a unix application that uses sockets and need to make use of select() and was wondering what to do with the exceptfds parameter? Do I need to put all my sockets into this parameter and react to such events? Or do I just ignore them?

  • Loading a CSV file using jQuery GET returns the header but no data

    When reading a CSV file from a server using the jQuery 'GET' function I do not get any data. When I look at the code using FireBug I can see the GET request is sent and the return value is '200 OK'. Also I see that the header is returned correctly so the request is definitely made, and data is returned. This is also what I see in Wireshark. Here I see the complete contents of the CSV file is returned as a standard HTTP response. But the actual data is not there in my script. Firebug shows an empty response and the 'success' function is never called.   • What is a good approach to preloading data?

    Are there best practices out there for loading data into a database, to be used with a new installation of an application? For example, for application foo to run, it needs some basic data before it can even be started. I've used a couple options in the past: TSQL for every row that needs to be preloaded: IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT * FROM Master.Site WHERE Name = @SiteName) INSERT INTO [Master].[Site] ([EnterpriseID], [Name], [LastModifiedTime], [LastModifiedUser]) VALUES (@EnterpriseId, @SiteName, GETDATE(), @LastModifiedUser) Another option is a spreadsheet. Each tab represents a table, and data is entered into the spreadsheet as we realize we need it. Then, a program can read this spreadsheet and populate the DB. There are complicating factors, including the relationships between tables. So, it's not as simple as loading tables by themselves. For example, if we create Security.Member rows, then we want to add those members to Security.Role, we need a way of maintaining that relationship. Another factor is that not all databases will be missing this data. Some locations will already have most of the data, and others (that may be new locations around the world), will start from scratch. Any ideas are appreciated.

    Hi all, In my aplication, I want a tableview with different cell structure depending upon the category of data that's getting loaded in it [I have different categories like video, editorial etc with different structure of data like video has a single label, editorial has 3 labels etc]. I can load different nib files based on the data coming from xml parser. Now when the cell is tapped, I want to show its detailed view on a new viewController. So my question is is it possible to use only 1 viewController show different fields depending upon the category of data in the cell. Or do I need to create different viewControllers for each of the categories?

    I have a web application running on LAMP with a testing server and a production server. Is there a standard practice for keeping the data on the testing server in sync with the production server? The data on the testing server gets out of date pretty quick and I feel like there must be an easier way than just dumping the production server and copying it onto the testing server every so often. It's not important that the data is in total sync, just that the testing server represents the production enviornment as accurately as possible.

What I did next was create a class that handles various data validation scenarios and store the results in an internal array.     I've used WCF RIA services with Entity Framework to build a simple application which can display and updates data about school courses. This was done by following the Microsoft tutorials. Now I would like to have a chart which shows a count for how many courses are on a key stage. Example: Key Stage 3 - 20 courses Key Stage 4 - 32 courses Key Stage 5 - 12 courses Displayed on any form of chart. I have no problem binding data to the chart in XAML. My problem is that I do not know how to correct way of getting the data into that format. The generated CRUD methods are basic. I have a few thoughts about possible ways, but don't know which is correct, they are: Create a View in SQL server and map this to a separate Entity in the Entity Data Model. Generating new CRUD methods for this automatically. Customise the read method in the existing DomainService using .Select() .Distinct() etc. Don't know this syntax very well labda expressions/LINQ??? what is it? Any good quickstarts on it? Create a new class to store only the data required and create a read method for it. Tried this but didn't know how to make it work without a matching entity in the entity model. Something I am not aware of. I'm very new to this and struggling with the concepts so if there are useful blogs or documentation I've missed feel free to point me towards them. But I'm unsure of the terminology to use in my searches at the moment.

  • C# to unmanaged dll data structures interop

    I have a unmanaged DLL that exposes a function that takes a pointer to a data structure. I have C# code that creates the data structure and calls the dll function without any problem. At the point of the function call to the dll the pointer is correct. My problem is that the DLL keeps the pointer to the structure and uses the data structure pointer at a later point in time. When the DLL comes to use the pointer it has become invalid (I assume the .net runtime has moved the memory somewhere else). What are the possible solutions to this problem? The possible solutions I can think of are: Fix the memory location of the data structure somehow? I don't know how you would do this in C# or even if you can. Allocate memory manually so that I have control over it e.g. using Marshal.AllocHGlobal Change the DLL function contract to copy the structure data (this is what I'm currently doing as a short term change, but I don't want to change the dll at all if I can help it as it's not my code to begin with). Are there any other better solutions?

  • Should I auto-increment the assembly version when I build my software?

    In Visual Studio 2003, you could easily set your project assembly to auto-increment every time you built it, but with Visual Studio 2005, this functionality was removed. You can still auto-increment your assembly version on every build, but it's a complicated custom build step instead of an integrated feature. I'm not sure why this was removed, but here's a question I should have asked a while ago - Should I be using a workaround to continue to auto-increment when I build, or is there a good reason to stop doing this, in favor of manually incrementing? Since Microsoft removed it from VS, perhaps there's a good reason, and I'm wondering if anybody knows it.

  • Saving ntext data from SQL Server to file directory using asp

    A variety of files (pdf, images, etc.) are stored in a ntext field on a MS SQL Server. I am not sure what type is in this field, other than it shows question marks and undefined characters, I am assuming they are binary type. The script is supposed to iterate through the rows and extract and save these files to a temp directory. "filename" and "contenttype" are given, and "data" is whatever is in the ntext field. I have tried several solutions: 1) data.SaveToFile "/temp/"&filename, 2 Error: Object required: '????????????????????' ??? 2) File.WriteAllBytes "/temp/"&filename, data Error: Object required: 'File' I have no idea how to import this, or the Server for MapPath. (Cue: what a noob!) 3) Const adTypeBinary = 1 Const adSaveCreateOverWrite = 2 Dim BinaryStream Set BinaryStream = CreateObject("ADODB.Stream") BinaryStream.Type = adTypeBinary BinaryStream.Open BinaryStream.Write data BinaryStream.SaveToFile "C:\temp\" & filename, adSaveCreateOverWrite Error: Arguments are of the wrong type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another. 4) Response.ContentType = contenttype Response.AddHeader "content-disposition","attachment;" & filename Response.BinaryWrite data response.end This works, but the file should be saving to the server instead of popping up save-as dialog.   • How can I execute an insert with data from a repeater-generated form whose data source is SQL?

    I'm storing multilingual data in a database whose model is language normalized (like this). For this particular problem the key for the table in question consists of a value entered by the user and a language from the language table. I'd like to dynamically generate a form with input fields for all available languages. The user inputs a key value then goes down a list of field sets filling out the information in each language. In this case there are two fields for every language, a name and a value (the value is language dependent.) I have all existing information displayed on the page with a gridview, below which I have a formview that is always in insert mode allowing the user to enter new data. Within the formview I have a repeater with an SQLDataSource that gets a list of available languages: <asp:Repeater ID="SessionLocaleRepeater" runat="server" DataSourceID="LocaleSQLDataSource" EnableViewState="false"> <ItemTemplate> <tr> <th scope="row"><%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "LocaleName") %></th> <td>Name:</td> <td><asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" Text="" /></td> <td>Number:</td> <td><asp:TextBox ID="TextBox2" runat="server" Text="" /></td> </tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> I figured that in order to insert this data I'd have to execute my sql server insert stored procedure for each item in the repeater; I am trying to use the formview inserting event. The problem is that the repeater isn't databound to the SQLDataSource until after the formview inserting event (inserting event is in PostBackEvent and databind is in PreRender), which means the controls and data are not available when the inserting event is fired. I tried databinding the repeater during the formview inserting event; the controls were available but the data was not. Would this have something to do with how/when the viewstate information is re-added to the controls? From what I've read, Viewstate is one of the first things to be restored. Given the order of events how can I get the data I need for the insert? I'm open to other solutions to creating dynamic input controls, but they will have to query the database to determine how many sets of controls to create.
