  • How do you access country/state/province polygons in google maps api?

    - by wmh1108
I have fairly large map overlay that I am displaying over the google maps data but would still like to see the country/state/province lines through my overlay (so the lines would essentially be on top of my overlay). As I understand, these lines are simply polygons drawn over the maps. Is there any way to access these? If so, how do I get them to show up through my overlay images?

  • Changing the block size of a dfs file in Hadoop

    - by Sam
I found that my map tasks is currently inefficient when parsing one particular set of files (total 2 TB). I'd like to change the block size of files in the Hadoop dfs (from 64MB to 128 MB). I can't find how to do it in the documentation for only one set of files and not the entire cluster, does anyone know the command that would change the block size when I upload it (ie copy from local to the dfs)? Thanks!

  • Is Perforce's C++ P4API thread-safe?

    - by Scott Bilas
Simple question - is the C++ API provided by Perforce thread-safe? There is no mention of it in the documentation. By "thread-safe" I mean for server requests from the client. Obviously there will be issues if I have multiple threads trying to set client names and such on the same connection. But given a single connection object, can I have multiple threads fetching changelists, getting status, translating files through a p4 map, etc.?

  • Weird send() problem (with Wireshark log)

    - by Meta
I had another question about this issue, but I didn't ask properly, so here I go again! I'm sending a file by sending it in chunks. Right now, I'm playing around with different numbers for the size of that chunk, to see what size is the most efficient. When testing on the localhost, any chunk size seems to work fine. But when I tested it over the network, it seems like the maximum chunk size is 8191 bytes. If I try anything higher, the transfer becomes extremely, painfully, slow. To show what happens, here are the first 100 lines of Wireshark logs when I use a chunk size of 8191 bytes, and when I use a chunk size of 8192 bytes: (the sender is 192.168.0.102, and the receiver is 192.168.0.100) 8191: http://pastebin.com/E7jFFY4p 8192: http://pastebin.com/9P2rYa1p Notice how in the 8192 log, on line 33, the receiver takes a long time to ACK the data. This happens again on line 103 and line 132. I believe this delay is the root of the problem. Note that I have not modified the SO_SNDBUF option nor the TCP_NODELAY option. So my question is, why am I getting delayed ACKs when sending files in chunks of 8192 bytes, when everything works fine when using chunks of 8191 bytes? Edit: As an experiment, I tried to do the file transfer in the other direction (from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.102), and surprisingly, any number worked! (Although numbers around 8000 seemed to perform the smoothest). So then the problem is with my computer! But I'm really not sure what to check for. Edit 2: Here is the pseudocode I use to send and receive data.

  • How do i make a picturebox selectable?

    - by acidzombie24
I am making a very basic map editor. I'm halfway through it and one problem i hit is how to delete an object. I would like to press delete but there appears to be no keydown event for pictureboxes and it will seem like i will have it only on my listbox. What is the best solution for deleting an object in my editor?

  • UnknownHostException again!

    - by Nitesh Panchal
Hello, I posted one question previously and all of them answered that there is some problem with DNS but i changed my DNS to many addressed and now i have the most reliable, google DNS :- 8.8.8.8 Still i get the same UnknownHostException. What can be the problem? This is my code :- DocumentBuilderFactory dbf = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder db = dbf.newDocumentBuilder(); Document doc = db.parse("http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/india"); Infact if i pass address as something very common like :- http://google.com i still get the same error. Please help me :(. I have my submissions tomorrow. Thanks in advance :) EDIT : If i type the same address in my mozilla, it works great. So, i am sure that there is no DNS problem. 2nd EDIT :- I found this link http://www.ehow.com/how_4747553_fix-unknownhostexception-java-applications-ubuntu.html But when i run the command sudo apt-get install lib32nss-mdns i get package not found. Somebody even mentioned :- -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true But where do i write this statement of Djava? I am using Netbeans 6.8 to run my web application

  • Confused about distinct/aggregate queries with (N)Hibernate

    - by nw
I'm not sure how to approach queries that don't map 1:1 to my persistent entities - in other words, distinct and aggregate queries. For example, I need to retrieve a distinct list of property values for populating a drop-down list. Should I write a class and a mapping for the "entities" that are returned by this query? Or should I just use the native DB provider and work with native data sets instead?

    - by user611967
Hi guys. I would like to start we that i'm not a very good english speaker, so excuse me if something is wrong. So I have this code header file : import @interface macViewController : UIViewController { UINavigationItem *navItem; UITextView *iTextView; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UINavigationItem *navItem; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITextView *iTextView; (IBAction) btnClicked; @end implementation file : import "macViewController.h" @implementation macViewController @synthesize navItem, iTextView; (IBAction) btnClicked { if (self.editing == YES) { self.editing = NO; [iTextView resignFirstResponder]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc]initWithTitle:@"Data Saved" message:@"Your data was saved" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; } else { self.editing = YES; [iTextView becomeFirstResponder]; } NSLog(@"works"); self.navItem.rightBarButtonItem = self.editButtonItem; self.navItem.rightBarButtonItem.action = @selector(btnClicked); } (void) textViewDidChangeUITextView *)textView { NSLog(@"works"); } So like you guess it's a view based app wich when i tap Edit button the keyboard pops-up then i press Done button and keyboard disappear and appear a alert view. • form_form and custom parameter in path_prefix

    - by fguillen
Hi people, I have this route: # config/routes.rb map.namespace :backshop, :path_prefix => '/:shop_id/admin' do |backshop| backshop.resources :items end And I want to use the form_for magic to reuse the same form on both: new and edit views: <% form_for [:backshop, @item] do |f| %> This used to works, and used to build a create url for the item or update url for the item depending on the status of the @item object. But this is not working on this case because the routes don't exists without the shop_id parameter, and I don't know how to say to the form_for something like this: <% form_for [:backshop, @item], :shop_id => @shop do |f| %> Because it tries to use the @item like the :shop_id parameter. Or like this <% form_for [:backshop, @shop, @item] do |f| %> Because it tries to build this url: backshop_shop_order_path I Know I can just to extract the form_for declaration from the partial and do different calls on depending if new or edit: <% form_for( @item, :url => backshop_items_path( @shop ) ) do |f| %> and <% form_for( @item, :url => backshop_item_path( @shop, @item ) ) do |f| %> But I just wanted don't do this because I have a bunch of models and is a few boring :) Thanks for any suggestion f.

  • How Would you Mimic an Arbitrary Directory Structure with Rails Routes?

    - by viatropos
I want to be able to map Google Docs' folder system to urls in my application and am just wondering how I can say "route, I want you to match an arbitrary set of nodes, and the last one is the file (or possibly a directory, I can check in the controller)". So I could do things like: www.mysite.com/documents/folder1/childfolderA/document www.mysite.com/documents/root-level-doc Can the routes.rb file do something like this?

  • Network bandwidth bottleneck for sorting of mapreduce intermediate keys?

    - by Zubair
I have been learning the mapreduce algorithm and how it can potentially scale to millions of machines, but I don't understand how the sorting of the intermediate keys after the map phase can scale, as there will be: 1,000,000 x 1,000,000 : potential machines communicating small key / value pairs of the intermediate results with each other? Isn't this a bottleneck?

The scenario is as follows: Create an instance of a class (std::map) and sore it as global variable. Spawn threads. Threads read and use the same global instance of the class All spawned threads quit Global class instance is destroyed No mutex, no thread modifies the global class instance. Is this OK? Thank You

  • HashMap.containsValue - What's the point?

    - by Frederik
I've got a HashMap and I need to fetch an item by its integer value. I notice there's a containsValue() function, but it would appear I still have to iterate through the map to find the correct index anyway. My question is; why use containsValue() if I'm required to traverse it afterwards? Also, am I missing the point completely? ;-)

  • excluding previously randomized integer, and randomize again without it

    - by Rob
<?php if (isset($_POST['Roll!'])) { $sides = $_POST['sides']; $rolled = rand(1,$sides); echo "$rolled was rolled by the dice, it is now out!"; } ?> This is the code I currently have. After rolling that number, however, I want it to roll again, but without the previously rolled number, until it has rolled all number except one, which would be the winning number. I have no idea how to go about doing that. Any ideas? EDIT: I'm sorry, I should have been more clear, thank you all for the help so far, but I also need to echo each number rolled, such as echo "$rolledArray[0] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[1] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[2] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[3] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[x] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[x] was rolled, it lost.\n"; echo "$rolledArray[50?] was rolled, it lost."; EDIT AGAIN: Also I only want them to have to click Roll! once, not multiple times until they've rolled all the numbers, meaning no need for session, I think, though I could be wrong, most of you are clearly more experienced than me. Sorry, I should have mentioned that before as well.

  • Shortcut for moving between Vim windows

    - by Kamilski81
Let's say I have single Vim tab displaying 9 buffers (equally separated, like a table 3x3). Currently, to get from the top left window to the bottom right one, I have to press 3, Ctrl+W, J, and then 3, Ctrl+W, L. This is cumbersome and I would like to just be able to press Ctrl+9 to go to the 9th window and Ctrl+3 to go to the 3rd window, etc. Is there any easy way I can map something like this in Vim?

  • How to improve my software project's speed?

    - by Blitzkr1eg
I'm doing a school software project with my class mates in Java. We store the info on a remote db. When we start the application we pull all the information from the database and transform it into objects to use in our application (using java sql statemens). In the application we edit some of these objects and then when we exit the application we save or update information in the database using Hibernate. As you see we dont use Hibernate for pulling in information, we use it just for saving and updating. We have 2, but very similar problems. The loading of object(when we start the app) and the saving of objects(with Hibernate) in the db(when closing the app) is taking too much time. And our project its not a huge enterprise application, its a quite small app, we just manage some students, teachers, homeworks and tests. So our db is also very very small. How could we increase performance ? later edit: if we use a local database it runs very quick, it just runs slow on remote databases
