  • Corporate Efficiency

    - by AndyScott
Thoughts on streamlining the process of getting someone up to speed when they join a project as a new hire; or as is common in some companies, switch from one project to another: Has anyone heard of a strategy (including emphasis towards consistent, ongoing documentation) that would bring a user up to speed quickly? Has there been any thought given to focused documentation, specific to a role within a project? Or formalized mentoring within a project, that goes beyond a “system walkthrough”?   Often it's overlooked what time is wasted when a senior level worker is brought on board.  It's assumed that they will know the right questions to ask. They are the type of people that normally learn quickly, and in their own ways, so let them get by with what's out there.   Having a user without a computer will cost you measurable worker hours, making it an easy target to shoot at (and rightly so). Not getting them up to speed as quickly as possible is an efficiency issue, that seems to have become an industry standard as an accepted loss. Given the complexity of the projects within most companies, and the frequency with which users are shifted from one project to another based on need; I think this is an area that bears consideration.

  • Change the Log Level of Node Manager.

    - by adejuanc
This is useful to troubleshoot issues related to Node Manager, such as problems starting a Managed Server or reasons a server could be (re)started. To change the Log Level of Node Manager, you need to edit the nodemanager.properties file. This is usually located at: <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager What you need to modify is property: ...LogLevel=INFO... Information about the appropriate values for this property is available in the Node Manager Documentation at 10.3 WebLogic Documentation (and in further releases) which states: LogLevel: Severity level of logging used for the Node Manager log. Node Manager uses the same logging levels as WebLogic Server. Default value: INFO However, this is incorrect. WLS has its own implementation of LogLevel, but Node Manager uses the standard Log Level from the java.util.logging.Level class. Therefore, the possible values for Node Manager LogLevel, in descending order are: SEVERE (highest value) WARNING INFO CONFIG FINE FINER FINEST (lowest value) The highest value provides only messages at the severe level. The warning level provides warning messages and severe messages, and so on. Besides those levels, ALL and OFF are also accepted. For example, if you only want Severe messages to be logged, select SEVERE. If you need the most detailed tracing available, select FINEST. For more information on what it will log at each level, please read the Java SE API for LoggingLevel.

  • UDK - How to make sure a PhysicalMaterial mask actually works?

    - by tomacmuni
Hello, I have been reading the documentation for UDK about physical materials and masks. I have my 1bit BMP mask, and the two physical material assets I want to shoot off in the black and white channels. I have applied my material to both a rigid body and to a skeletal mesh and neither apparently uses the mask. If I assign a regular physical material (one that doesn't use a mask) then it will work fine, but this defeats the point because it gives only one hit reaction. In the documentation it states that it is possible to extend a class on which we want to use a physical material based on the KActor class's usage. How to do that? Here is the quote: "The following properties [ie, ImpactEffect - Particle system to spawn at the point of impact + ImpactSound - Sound to play when an impact occurs] allow you to attach sounds and effects to physical collisions. These only work on classes which support them, which at the moment is only KActor. By looking at the implementation in KActor though, you can add this functionality to other classes (or you can subclass KActor)." Essentially, how to make sure a PhysicalMaterial mask actually works? What code could be added to a skeletal mesh class perhaps, to get it going? Any help appreciated.

  • maxItemsInObjectGraph limit required to be changed for server and client

    - by Michael Freidgeim
We have a wcf service, that expects to return a huge XML data. It worked ok in testing, but in production it failed with error  "Maximum number of items that can be serialized or deserialized in an object graph is '65536'. Change the object graph or increase the MaxItemsInObjectGraph quota."The MSDN article about   dataContractSerializer xml configuration  element  correctly  describes maxItemsInObjectGraph attribute default as 65536, but documentation for of the DataContractSerializer.MaxItemsInObjectGraph property and DataContractJsonSerializer.MaxItemsInObjectGraph Property are talking about Int32.MaxValue, which causes confusion, in particular because Google shows properties articles before configuration articles. When we changed the value in WCF service configuration, it didn't help, because the similar change must be ALSO done on client. There are similar posts:http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6298209/how-to-fix-maxitemsinobjectgraph-error/6298356#6298356You need to set the MaxItemsInObjectGraph on the dataContractSerializer using a behavior on both the client and service. See  for an example.http://devlicio.us/blogs/derik_whittaker/archive/2010/05/04/setting-maxitemsinobjectgraph-for-wcf-there-has-to-be-a-better-way.aspxhttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/2325321/maxitemsinobjectgraph-ignored/4455209#4455209 I had forgot to place this setting in my client app.config file.http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9191167/maximum-number-of-items-that-can-be-serialized-or-deserialized-in-an-object-graphttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/5867304/datacontractjsonserializer-and-maxitemsinobjectgraph?rq=1 -It seems that DataContractJsonSerializer.MaxItemsInObjectGraph has actual default 65536, because there is no configuration for JSON serializer, but  it complains about the limit.I believe that MS should clarify the properties documentation re default limit and make more specific error messages to distinguish server side and client side errors.Note, that as a workaround it's possible to use commonBehaviors section which can be defined only in machine.config:<commonBehaviors> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <dataContractSerializer maxItemsInObjectGraph="..." /> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors></commonBehaviors>v

  • NFS mount of /var/www to OS X

    - by ploughguy
I have spent 2 hours trying to create an NFS mount from my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server to my OS X desktop system. Objective: three way file compare between the code base on the Mac, the development system on the local Linux test system, and the hosted website. The hosted service uses cpanel so I can mount a webdisk - easy as pie - took 10 seconds. The local Ubuntu box, on the other hand - nothing but pain and frustration. Here is what I have tried: In File Browser, navigate to /var/www/site and right-click. Select share this folder. Enter sharename wwwsite and a comment. Click button "Create Share". Message says - you can only share file systems you own. There is a message on how to fix this, but the killer is that this is sharing by SMB. It will change the LFs to CR-LFs which will affect the file comparison. So forget this option. In a terminal window, run shares-admin (I have not been able to convince it to give me the "Shared Folders" option in the System Administration window - Maybe it is somewhere else in the menu, but I cannot find it) define an NFS export. Enter the path /var/www/site, select NFS enter the ip address of the iMac and save. On the mac, try to mount the file system using the usual methods - finder, command line "mount" command - not found. Nothing. Tried restarting the linux box in case there is a daemon that needs restarting - nothing. So I have run out of stuff to do. I have tried searching the documentation - it is pretty basic. The man page documentation is as opaque as ever. Please, oh please, will someone help me to get this @38&@^# thing to work! Thanks for reading this far... PG.

  • Why only one video shows up in ASP.NET Video panel ?

    - by user284523
    It is possible to have multiple videos with Flowplayer http://flowplayer.org/demos/installation/multiple-players.html To do so in ASP.NET DYNAMICALLY, one has to use a Panel (see http://idevwebs.com/Default.aspx?id=25): <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <!-- A minimal Flowplayer setup to get you started --> <!-- include flowplayer JavaScript file that does Flash embedding and provides the Flowplayer API. --> <script type="text/javascript" src="flowplayer-3.1.4.min.js"></script> <!-- page title --> <title>Minimal Flowplayer setup</title> </head><body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div id="page"> <h1>Minimal Flowplayer setup</h1> <p>View commented source code to get familiar with Flowplayer installation.</p> <!-- this A tag is where your Flowplayer will be placed. it can be anywhere --> <!-- player #1 --> <asp:Panel ID="panelVideo" runat="server"> </asp:Panel> <!-- this will install flowplayer inside previous A- tag. --> <script type="text/javascript"> flowplayer("player", "flowplayer-3.1.5.swf"); </script> <!-- after this line is purely informational stuff. does not affect on Flowplayer functionality --> <p> If you are running these examples <strong>locally</strong> and not on some webserver you must edit your <a href="http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html"> Flash security settings</a>. </p> <p class="less"> Select "Edit locations" &gt; "Add location" &gt; "Browse for files" and select flowplayer-x.x.x.swf you just downloaded. </p> <h2>Documentation</h2> <p> <a href="http://flowplayer.org/documentation/installation/index.html">Flowplayer installation</a> </p> <p> <a href="http://flowplayer.org/documentation/configuration/index.html">Flowplayer configuration</a> </p> <p> See this identical page on <a href="http://flowplayer.org/demos/example/index.htm">Flowplayer website</a> </p> </div> </form> </body></html> and then add video anchor dynamically public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { this.panelVideo.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("<a href=\"" + "http://blip.tv/file/get/" + "KimAronson-TwentySeconds58192" + ".flv\" style=\"display:block;width:388px;height:230px\" id=\"player\"></a>")); this.panelVideo.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl("<a href=\"" + "http://blip.tv/file/get/" + "KimAronson-TwentySeconds67463" + ".flv\" style=\"display:block;width:388px;height:230px\" id=\"player\"></a>")); } } But it works only partially as the first video shows up not both. And all html below doesn't show up either.

  • Link Error : xxx is already defined in *****.LIB :: What exactly is wrong?

    - by claws
Problem: I'm trying to use a library named DCMTK which used some other external libraries ( zlib, libtiff, libpng, libxml2, libiconv ). I've downloaded these external libraries (*.LIB & *.h files ) from the same website. Now, when I compile the DCMTK library I'm getting link errors (793 errors) like this: Error 2 error LNK2005: __encode_pointer already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 3 error LNK2005: __decode_pointer already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 4 error LNK2005: __CrtSetCheckCount already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 5 error LNK2005: __invoke_watson already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 6 error LNK2005: __errno already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 7 error LNK2005: __configthreadlocale already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Error 8 error LNK2005: _exit already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR90D.dll) LIBCMTD.lib dcmmkdir Documentation: This seems to be a popular error for this library so, they do have a FAQ entry addressing this issue which ( http://forum.dcmtk.org/viewtopic.php?t=35 ) says: The problem is that the linker tries to combine different, incompatible versions of the Visual C++ runtime library into a single binary. This happens when not all parts of your project and the libraries you link against are generated with the same code generation options in Visual C++. Do not use the /NODEFAULTLIB workaround, because strange software crashes may follow. Fix the problem! DCMTK is by default compiled with the "Multithreaded" or "Multithreaded Debug" code generation option (the latter for Debug mode). Either change the project settings of all of your code to use these code generation options, or change the code generation for all DCMTK modules and re-compile. MFC users beware: DCMTK should be compiled with "Multithreaded DLL" or "Multithreaded DLL Debug" settings if you want to link the libraries into an MFC application. Solution to same problem for others: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2259697/vscopengl-huge-amount-of-linker-issues-with-release-build-only says: It seems that your release build is trying to link to something that was built debug. You probably have a broken dependency in your build, (or you missed rebuilding something to release by hand if your project is normally built in pieces). More technically, you seem to be linking projects built with different C Run Time library settings, one with "Multi-Threaded", another one with "Multi-Threaded Debug". Adjust the settings for all the projects to use the very same flavour of the library and the issue should go away Questions: Till now I used to think that Name mangling is the only problem that may cause linking failures if its not been standardized. Just now I knew there are other things also which can cause same effect. Whats up with the "Debug Mode" (Multi-Threaded Debug) and "Release Mode" (Multi-Threaded)? What exactly is happening under the hood? Why exactly this thing is causing linking error? I wonder if there is something called "Single-Threaded Debug" and "Single-Threaded" which again causes the same thing. Documentation talks something about "Code Generation Options". What Code Generation Options? WTH are they? Documentation specifically warns us not to use /NODEFAULTLIB workaround. (example /NODEFAULTLIB :msvcrt ). Why? How would I cause troubles? what exactly is it? Please explain the last point in the documentation for MFC users. Because I'm going to use MFC later in this project. Explain Why should we do it? What troubles would it cause if I don't. Anything more you'd like to mention? I mean regarding similar errors. I'm very interested in Linker & its problems. So, if there are any similar things you can mentions them or some keywords atleast.

  • Android programming. Application stopped unexpectedly.

    - by user277704
I've just created a prototype of interface for my android app and tried to run it. Unfortunately I get an error that my app has stopped unexpectedly (my reputation doesn't allow me to post images so follow my links): screenshot of error message This is layout mode of editing. • Wcf Facility Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled.

    - by cvista
Hey I'm trying to connect to my Wcf service which is configured using castles wcf facility. When I go to the service in a browser i get: Metadata publishing for this service is currently disabled. Which lists a load of instructions which i cant do because the configuration isnt in the web.config. when I try to connect using VS/add service reference i get: The HTML document does not contain Web service discovery information. Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://s.ibzstar.com/userservices.svc'. Content Type application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8 was not supported by service http://s.ibzstar.com/userservices.svc. The client and service bindings may be mismatched. The remote server returned an error: (415) Cannot process the message because the content type 'application/soap+xml; charset=utf-8' was not the expected type 'text/xml; charset=utf-8'.. If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again. Anyone know what I need to do to get this working? The end client is an iPhone app written using Monotouch if that matters - so no castle windsor on the client side. cheers w:// Here's the Windsor.config from the service: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <components> <component id="eventServices" service="IbzStar.Domain.IEventServices, IbzStar.Domain" type="IbzStar.Domain.EventServices, IbzStar.Domain" lifestyle="transient"> </component> <component id="userServices" service="IbzStar.Domain.IUserServices, IbzStar.Domain" type="IbzStar.Domain.UserServices, IbzStar.Domain" lifestyle="transient"> </component> The Web.config section: <system.serviceModel> <serviceHostingEnvironment aspNetCompatibilityEnabled="true"/> <services> </services> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior name="IbzStar.WebServices.Service1Behavior"> <!-- To avoid disclosing metadata information, set the value below to false and remove the metadata endpoint above before deployment --> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="true"/> <!-- To receive exception details in faults for debugging purposes, set the value below to true. Set to false before deployment to avoid disclosing exception information --> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false"/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> My App_Start contains this: Container = new WindsorContainer(new XmlInterpreter(new ConfigResource())) .AddFacility<WcfFacility>() .Install(Configuration.FromXmlFile("Windsor.config")); As for the client config - I'm using the wizard to add the service.

  • Android: Adding static header to the top of a ListActivity

    - by GrandPrix
Currently I have a class that is extending the ListActivity class. I need to be able to add a few static buttons above the list that are always visible. I've attempted to grab the ListView using getListView() from within the class. Then I used addHeaderView(View) to add a small layout to the top of the screen. Header.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" > <Button android:id="@+id/testButton" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Income" android:textSize="15dip" android:layout_weight="1" /> </LinearLayout> Before I set the adapter I do: ListView lv = getListView(); lv.addHeaderView(findViewById(R.layout.header)); This results in nothing happening to the ListView except for it being populated from my database. No buttons appear above it. Another approach I tried as adding padding to the top of the ListView. When I did this it successfully moved down, however, if I added any above it, it pushed the ListView over. No matter what I do it seems as though I cannot put a few buttons above the ListView when I used the ListActivity. Thanks in advance. synic, I tried your suggestion previously. I tried it again just for the sake of sanity, and the button did not display. Below is the layout file for the activity and the code I've implemented in the oncreate(). //My listactivity I am trying to add the header to public class AuditActivity extends ListActivity { Budget budget; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { Cursor test; super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.audit); ListView lv = getListView(); LayoutInflater infalter = getLayoutInflater(); ViewGroup header = (ViewGroup) infalter.inflate(R.layout.header, lv, false); lv.addHeaderView(header); budget = new Budget(this); /* try { test = budget.getTransactions(); showEvents(test); } finally { } */ // switchTabSpecial(); } Layout.xml for activity: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"> <ListView android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" /> <TextView android:id="@android:id/empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/empty" /> </LinearLayout>

  • Problem with cometd and jetty 6 / 7

    - by Ceilingfish
Hi chaps, I'm trying to get started with cometd (http://cometd.org/) and jetty 6 or 7, but I seem to be having problems. I've got an ant script that packages my code up into a war with the cometd 1.1.1 binaries and jetty binaries that are appropriate to the version of jetty I deploy the war to (so 7.1.2.v20100523 binaries when I deploy to jetty 7.1.2.v20100523 and 6.1.24 when I deploy to 6.1.24). I first tried getting a setup with version 7.1.2.v20100523, but when I tried to deploy I got a very long stack trace sample of which is: 2010-05-26 15:32:12.906:WARN::Problem processing jar entry I wanted to create a custom bottom button bar layout, I've created a xml file : <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" style="@android:style/ButtonBar" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="horizontal" android:padding="0dp" > <Button android:id="@+id/media_menu_button" style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_margin="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/media_menu_button" /> <Button android:id="@+id/scenario_menu_button" style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_margin="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/scenario_menu_button" /> <Button android:id="@+id/rooms_menu_button" style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_margin="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/rooms_menu_button" /> <Button android:id="@+id/shortcut_menu_button" style="?android:attr/buttonStyleSmall" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="match_parent" android:layout_margin="0dp" android:layout_weight="1" android:text="@string/shortcut_menu_button" /> as you can see I've given all the buttons width 0dp and weight of 1. then, I've created a class that extends the linear layout class : public class BeLightBottomBar extends LinearLayout implements OnClickListener { private LayoutInflater mInflater; private Context contexnt; private Button mShortcutMenuButton; private Button mRoomsMenuButton; private Button mScenarioMenuButton; private Button mMediaMenuButton; public BeLightBottomBar(Context context, AttributeSet attrs) { super(context, attrs); //inflate the view this.contexnt = context; mInflater = (LayoutInflater) context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); LinearLayout barView = (LinearLayout) mInflater.inflate(R.layout.belight_bottombar, null); addView(barView); //get all the instances of the components of the bar mShortcutMenuButton = (Button) barView.findViewById(R.id.shortcut_menu_button); mRoomsMenuButton = (Button) barView.findViewById(R.id.rooms_menu_button); mScenarioMenuButton = (Button) barView.findViewById(R.id.scenario_menu_button); mMediaMenuButton = (Button) barView.findViewById(R.id.media_menu_button); //set this as a click listener mShortcutMenuButton.setOnClickListener(this); mRoomsMenuButton.setOnClickListener(this); mScenarioMenuButton.setOnClickListener(this); mMediaMenuButton.setOnClickListener(this); ... ... ... } the problem is when i add this class to the main activity xml <belight.homecontrol.components.BeLightBottomBar android:id="@+id/button_bar" android:layout_width="match_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_alignParentBottom="true" android:layout_margin="0dp" android:padding="0dp" /> the weight stops working, all the buttons are different. and I don't know why !? if I just copy paste the bottom's bar xml code to the main xml file it works fine, the problem only occurs when using it as a whole. P.S. Is it a good practice to create a component this way? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks, Dan

  • Android Packaging Problem: resources.ap_ does not exist

    - by Galip
I am trying to fix a problem in Eclipse for like 3 hours and I haven't made any progress. Tomorrow is the customer coming to look at my app, and I have no time left. This is really frustrating! This morning when I was coding and I wanted to run my app on my device Eclipse crashed all of a sudden. 'aapt.exe has stopped working' After this Eclipse wasn't starting anymore. It froze at the splash image. I looked on the internet and tried different solutions like going back to Java SE 6 update 20, changing .ini file etc. in the end reinstalling Eclipse did the job. Shortly after that the 'aapt.exe has stopped working' returned. I found a solution by changing my projects target. 1.5, 1.6, 2.2 doesn't matter, as long as it's different than the one before. Now I get the Error generating final archive: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\xxx\bin\resources.ap_ does not exist error. I tried clean but that doesn't work. Deleting and automatically regenarting R.java also didn't work. I ran the same code in Netbeans with the Android plugin and there it gives me the 'aapt.exe has stopped working' again :( Please guys, how can I fix this? Edit: I think I may have found the reason. These are the error lines in the console: org.xmlpull.v1.XmlPullParserException: Binary XML file line #3: <bitmap> requires a valid src attribute at android.graphics.drawable.BitmapDrawable.inflate(BitmapDrawable.java:341) at android.graphics.drawable.Drawable.createFromXmlInner(Drawable.java:779) at android.graphics.drawable.Drawable.createFromXml(Drawable.java:720) at com.android.layoutlib.bridge.ResourceHelper.getDrawable(ResourceHelper.java:150) at com.android.layoutlib.bridge.BridgeTypedArray.getDrawable(BridgeTypedArray.java:668) at android.view.View.<init>(View.java:1846) at android.view.View.<init>(View.java:1795) at android.view.ViewGroup.<init>(ViewGroup.java:282) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.invokeFramework(Main.java:619) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.basicRun(Main.java:574) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.run(Main.java:1407) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.main(Main.java:1383) [2011-01-17 16:37:20 - gegevens.xml] Unable to resolve drawable "com.android.layoutlib.utils.ResourceValue@267e33de" in attribute "background" The file it's talking about is 'bg.png'. I deleted it from the drawable folder, waited for an error message, and then added it back. The red x next to the foldername got away, but still nothing different...

  • WCF ResponseFormat For WebGet

    - by michael lucas
WCF offers two options for ResponseFormat attribute in WebGet annotation in ServiceContract. [ServiceContract] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "greet/{value}", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare)] string GetData(string value); [OperationContract] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "foo", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] string Foo(); The options for ResponseForamt are WebMessageFormat.Json and WebMessageFormat.Xml. Is it possible to write my own web message format? I would like that when client calls foo() method he gets raw string - without json or xml wrappers.

  • getting autodiscover URL from Exchange email address

    - by Anthony
I'm starting with an address for an Exchange 2007 server: [email protected] And I attempted to send an autodiscover request, as documented at MSDN. I attempted to use the generic autodiscover address documented at the TechNet White Paper. So, using curl on PHP, I sent the following request: <Autodiscover xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/requestschema/2006"> <Request> <EMailAddress>[email protected]</EMailAddress> <AcceptableResponseSchema> http://schemas.microsoft.com/exchange/autodiscover/outlook/responseschema/2006a </AcceptableResponseSchema> </Request> </Autodiscover> to the following URL: https://domain.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml But got no response, just an eventual timeout. I also tried: https://autodiscover.domain.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml With the same result. Now, since my larger goal is to use Autodiscover with Exchange Web Services, and since all of the EWS URLs start with the same sub-domain as the Outlook Web Access address, I thought I'd give that a try: OWA: https://wmail.domain.exchangeserver.org So I tried: https://wmail.domain.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml And sure enough, I got back the expected response. However, I only knew the OWA sub-domain because it's the server I have access to and that I'm using to test everything. I would not know it for sure or be able to guess it if this were a live app and the user was entering in their own Exchange email. I know that whatever generic autodiscover settings must be turned on, because I can enter: [email protected] into Apple Mail on Snow Leopard and it finds everything without trouble. So the question is... Should https://domain.exchangeserver.org/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml have worked, and I just missed a step when trying to connect to it? Or, Is there some trick (maybe involving pinging the email address?) that Apple Mail and other clients use to resolve the address to the OWA subdomain before sending the autodiscover request? Thanks to anyone who knows or can take a wild guess.

  • how to Use JAXWS/JAXB rename the parameter

    - by shrimpy
    I use CXF(2.2.3) to compile the Amazon Web Service WSDL (http://s3.amazonaws.com/ec2-downloads/2009-07-15.ec2.wsdl) But got error as below. Parameter: snapshotSet already exists for method describeSnapshots but of type com.amazonaws.ec2.doc._2009_07_15.DescribeSnapshotsSetType instead of com.amazonaws.ec2.doc._2009_07_15.DescribeSnapshotsSetResponseType. Use a JAXWS/JAXB binding customization to rename the parameter. The conflict was due to the data type show below: <xs:complexType name="DescribeSnapshotsType"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="snapshotSet" type="tns:DescribeSnapshotsSetType"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> <xs:complexType name="DescribeSnapshotsResponseType"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="requestId" type="xs:string"/> <xs:element name="snapshotSet" type="tns:DescribeSnapshotsSetResponseType"/> </xs:sequence> </xs:complexType> I create a binding file try to address the issue...but it didn`t do the job <jaxws:bindings xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/" wsdlLocation="EC2_2009-07-15.wsdl" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxws" xmlns:jxb="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxb" xmlns:jaxws="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/jaxws"> <enableWrapperStyle>false</enableWrapperStyle> <jaxws:bindings node="wsdl:definitions/wsdl:types/xs:schema[@targetNamespace='http://ec2.amazonaws.com/doc/2009-07-15/']"> <jxb:bindings node="xs:complexType[@name='tns:DescribeSnapshotsType']//xs:element[@name='snapshotSet']"> <jxb:property name="snapshotRequestSet"/> </jxb:bindings> <jxb:bindings node="xs:complexType[@name='DescribeSnapshotsResponseType']//xs:element[@name='snapshotSet']"> <jxb:property name="snapshotResponseSet"/> </jxb:bindings> </jaxws:bindings> </jaxws:bindings> And the command i used, was like below <wsdlOptions> <wsdlOption> <wsdl>${basedir}/src/main/resources/wsdl/EC2_2009-07-15.wsdl</wsdl> <extraargs> <extraarg>-b</extraarg> <extraarg>${basedir}/src/main/resources/wsdl/Bindings_EC2_2009-07-15.xml</extraarg> </extraargs> </wsdlOption> </wsdlOptions> What is wrong with my code???? And you can check out my project by using svn.... svn co http://shrimpysprojects.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/smartcrc/AWSAgent/

I am following a tutorial on setting up jaxb marshaller in springws. I would rather use xml mappings than annotations, although for now I am getting the error message.

  • Common idiom in Java to Scala, traverse/Iterate Java list into Scala list

I am processing a XML document and iterating through nodes. I want to iterate through the nodes and build a new List of some type. How would I do this with Scala: Here is my XML traverse code: def findClassRef(xmlNode: Elem) = { xmlNode\"classDef" foreach { (entry) => val name = entry \ "@name" val classid = entry \ "@classId" println(name + "//" + classid) } } Where the line of println is, I want to append elements to a list.
