• ProcessCmdKey - wait for KeyUp?

  Hi, I'm having the following issue in a WinForms app. I'm trying to implement Hotkeys and I need to process Key messages whenever the control is active, no matter if the focus is on a textbox within that control, etc. Overriding ProcessCmdKey works beautifully for this and does exactly what I want with one exception: If a user presses a key and keeps it pressed, ProcessCmdKey keeps triggering WM_KEYDOWN events. However, what I want to achieve is that the user has to release the button again before another hotkey action would trigger (so, if someone sits on the keyboard it would not cause continuous hotkey events). However, I can't find where to catch WM_KEYUP events, so I can set a flag if it should process ProcessCmdKey messages again? Anyone can help out here? Thanks, Tom

  I have a web application, which works fine if I include my user controls with <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC1" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc1.ascx" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" TagName="MyUC2" Src="~/UserControls/MyUc2.ascx" %> But I need to use the namespace due to needing to integrate with Umbraco. When I replace the register declaration with: <%@ Register TagPrefix="mine" Namespace="MyAssembly.UserControls" Assembly="MyAssembly"%> I get a null reference exception in the UserControl's Page_Load event (which references an ASP.NET control which is used by the UserControl itself. I find this pretty bizarre, but I've found very little information on how to fix it.

• NSKeyedArchiver save method ( that i made) crashed the iphone simulator

  i saw this approach on a tutorial, and the message is working for their example but when i implement this it does not work. from what i can tell the iphone simulator crashes when i do a [ self saveSettingsData]. TheSettings is class object that i declare and initialize in the appdelagate with these methods. the error says terminating due to uncaught exception. i am new to the iphone sdk and objective, so i really can't figure out what is going on thanks to any one who can help, i am ready to literally pull my hair out. I don't care about the consistency of reads from t2 when doing an insert .. select and want to set the transaction isolation level to READ_UNCOMMITTED. How do I go about setting it in JPA?

• WCF Custom WSDL XmlSerializerOperationBehavior

  Hi, I have code that builds a custom WCF wsdl on the fly. In one particular scenario, the WSDL exported should use the XmlSerializerOperationBehavior as the IWsdlExportExtension as opposed to the default DataContractSerializerOperationBehavior IWsdlExportExtension. However, every time I try this from the WSDL generation code, I get a null reference exception from the ExportBody method of the XmlSerializerMessageContractExporter (which is used internally in System.ServiceModel by the XmlSerializerOperationBehavior ExportContract method). I've reflector'd it and I can't see anything obviously wrong. For some reason, .NET also doesn't want to work with source stepping in this scenario... Simply, the most basic way I can reproduce this is var c = ContractDescription.GetContract(typeof(IMyService)); foreach (var op in c.Operations) { op.Behaviors.Remove(typeof(DataContractSerializerOperationBehavior)); op.Behaviors.Insert(0, new XmlSerializerOperationBehavior(op)); } new WsdlExporter().ExportContract(c); // throws NullReferenceException Does anyone have any ideas on this? • Is .net 4.0 really not capable of sending emails with attachments larger than 3MB's

  I recently had an issue after upgrading my .net framework to 4.0 from 3.5, I did this because in 4.0 the SMTPClient finally sends a QUIT command to the SMTP server.   I am getting this exception from a MySqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(): Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length The command text is as follows: INSERT INTO accounts (username, password, salt, pin, banned, staff, logged_in, points_a, points_b, points_c, birthday) VALUES ('adminb', 'aea785fbcac7f870769d30226ad55b1aab850fb0979ee00481a87bc846744a646a649d30bca5474b59e4292095c74fa47ae6b9b3a856beef332ff873474cc0d3', 'cb162ef55ff7c58c7cb9f2a580928679', '', '0, '0', '0', '0', '0', '0', '2010-04-18') Sorry for the long string, it is a SHA512 hash. I tried manually adding this data in the table from MySQL GUI tools, and it worked perfectly. I see no "out of range" problem in these strings. Does anybody see something wrong?

• Unbelievable: Cannot cast from class X to its super class

  I'm encountering a very weird problem with Spring (3.0.1.RELEASE), TestNG (5.11) and Maven Surefire (2.5). I have a test class that extends a Spring helper class for testNG so that test context can be loaded from an xml file (that contains some bean definitions). My project was imported into eclipse using m2eclipse (using Import Maven Project) The class run fine in Eclipse TestNG runner. However, it throws this exception with Maven Surefire Caused by: java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl cannot be cast to javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory at javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(DocumentBuilderFactory.java:123) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.DefaultDocumentLoader.createDocumentBuilderFactory(DefaultDocumentLoader.java:89) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.DefaultDocumentLoader.loadDocument(DefaultDocumentLoader.java:70) at org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefinitionReader.doLoadBeanDefinitions(XmlBeanDefinitionReader.java:388) I have eliminated all involved dependencies in my pom so that the two classes com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl and javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory are coming from JRE only (the rt.jar). So, it looks so unbelievable to me. I wonder if there is any mechanism in loading class that can explain for this behavior? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm populating a listview with a list of databases on a selected SQL instance, then retrieving a value from each database (It's internal product version, column doesn't always exist) I'm calling the below function to populate the second column of the listview: item.SubItems.Add(DBVersionCheck(serverName, database.Name)) Function DBVersionCheck(ByVal SelectedInstance As String, ByVal SelectedDatabase As String) Dim m_Connection As New SqlConnection("Server=" + SelectedInstance + ";User Id=sa;Password=password;Database=" + SelectedDatabase) Dim db_command As New SqlCommand("select Setting from SystemSettings where [Setting] = 'version'", m_Connection) Try m_Connection.Open() Return db_command.ExecuteScalar().trim m_Connection.Dispose() Catch ex As Exception 'MessageBox.Show(ex.Message) Return "NA" Finally m_Connection.Dispose() End Try End Function This works fine except it's creating a connection to each database and leaving it open. My understanding is the close()\dispose() releases only the connection from the pool in ado rather than the actual connection to sql. How would I close the actual connections after I've retrieved the value? Leaving these open will create hundreds of connections to databases that will probably not be used for that session.

• Python.expat can't parse XML file with bad symbols. How to go around?

  I'm trying to parse an XML file with expat, and here's the line where I get bad token exception: <tag k="name" v="???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????" /> xml.parsers.expat.ExpatError: not well-formed (invalid token): line 610127, column 37 The symbols in hex look like: \xd1? Seems like someone wrote this string (Russian alfabet) hitting backspace a few times. I set parser.returns_unicode = True, but this didn't help. The 1st line is <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>. I work with a bz2 file. (bz2.BZ2File) How can I parse the file?

  Hi, let's assume I have a table of Products with columns: Id, Name, Price and using NHibernate (or ActiveRecord) I map the table to the POCO: public class Product { public virtual long Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual double Price { get; set; } } Now if someday a new column named ShipmentPrice (let's assume it's double too) will be added to the Products table, is there any way I can automatically know that. For saying automatically I mean adding code to do that or getting an exception? (I assume I don't have control on the columns of the table or a way to know of any changes to the table's schema in advance)

  HI: I've a Delphi 7 program that I wrote many years ago, but I've lost the source code. It's a small program but very useful for me. I've tried to 'install' it again in a new Windows XP computer, just copying the folder with de data (.db paradox files), and configured the BDE connection. When the programm starts I receive an "Unknown exception" and halts. I've no idea why this happens, and can't debug cause the lost source code. I've tried in another computer with the same results. Any suggestions or ideas? What do you do in a situation like this? Thanks in advance.

• PATH and CLASSPATH in Windows7 7 / Eclipse

  So I would like to set PATH and CLASSPATH system variables so I can use javac and java commands in the command line. I can just compile and run java programs in eclipse but I would also like to be able to run them through command line. This is where I have Java installed: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java jdk1.6.0_20 jre6 And this is where eclipse stores my Java projects: D:\java-projects HelloWorld bin HelloWorld.class src HelloWorld.java I have set up the PATH and CLASSPATH variables like this: PATH: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin CLASSPATH: D:\java-projects But it doesn't work. When I write: java HelloWorld Or: java HelloWorld.class I get error like this: Exception in thread “main” java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld The error is longer, that's just the first line. How can I fix this? I'm mainly interested to be able to run compiled .class programs from the command line, I can do compiling in the eclipse.

• "Could not load file or assembly" error on trying to access auxillary assemblies from COM

  We have the project structure as follows: COMExposedCCW.dll -refers- BusinessLayer.dll -refers- Utils.dll COMExposedCCW.dll -refers- Utils.dll The COMExposedCCW.dll has been registered for COM interop. From the COM application{Excel} we can successfully create the CCW object and access its properties, but when we try to invoke methods that refer to the Business/Utils layer, it throws an exception that the file or assembly{Business/Utils} could not be found. The Business/Utils dlls are present in the same folder as the CCW. On copying the Business/Utils to the COM application directory it works fine. I've tried the following: Set "HintPath/" in the CCW project I dont want to dynamically load the assemblies using Reflection {there should be a more elegant solution} Thanks in advance.

• Blank space after file extension -> weird FileInfo behaviour

  Somehow a file has appeared in one of my directories, and it has space at the end of its extension - its name is "test.txt ". The weird thing is that Directory.GetFiles() returns me the path of this file, but I'm unable to retrieve file information with FileInfo class. The error manifests here: DirectoryInfo di = new DirectoryInfo("c:\\somedir"); FileInfo fi = di.GetFileSystemInfos("test*")[0] as FileInfo; //correctly fi.FullName is "c:\somedir\test.txt " //but fi.Exists==false (!) Is FileInfo class broken? Can I somehow retrieve information about this file? I really don't know how did that file appear on my file system, and I am unable to recreate some more of them. All of my attempts to create a new file with this type of extension have failed, but now my program is crashing when encoutering it. I can easily handle the exception when finding the file, but boy am I curious about this!

  Hello, I have a WCF Service (called "myservice.svc") that takes a message from a user and saves it to the database. It returns a response to the user in the form of a number.   Hello everybody, I am trying to read the output of a shell command into a string buffer, the reading and adding the values is ok except for the fact that the added values are every second line in the shell output. for example, I have 10 rows od shell output and this code only stores the 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, row .   I have various web pages that need to build up a URL to display or place it in an emitted email message. The code I inherited had this value for the name of the webserver in a Public Const in a Public Class called FixedConstants. I know Request.UserHostName or Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_HOST") works when invoked from a page but why does this return empty when invoked from a called method of a class file (i.e. UIFunction.vb)?

• Doing Forms With Just Windows SharePoint Services 3.0?

  For the most part my organization is happy with WSS 3.0 (no upgrading to MOSS) with one exception, there is really just one form we'd like to put up somehow. It's fairly big form (basically change requests for IT services, on paper it's easily 2 full 8.5 by 11 pages). We thought about Custom ASP.NET coding as a separate stand-alone page or maybe as a web part. What have other people out there done? MOSS and Infopath is not really an option as it really is too expensive for us at this time. Thanks in advance!

• Reporting services - custom library is not working after installing report on production Server

  Greetings, I created a report which uses custom library created by me. I've copied these libraries to the following folders: c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportServer\bin\ c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies\ Everything works find when I run the report using Visual Studio. When I install it on Production Server (where these dlls were also copied) the following error is returned: Failed to load expression host assembly. Details: The type initializer for 'MyParserForReportingServices.MyParser' threw an exception. (rsErrorLoadingExprHostAssembly) Can someone please help me?

• Robust C# Plugin System

  I am writing a tool which communicates with more than one version control system, either subversion or clearcase, and has various utilities which can be plugged into it. I though of using MEF to load the version control providers, and utiilities, both of which have interfaces definied for them. I've started to use MEF for this. But if loading any plugin fails (on half my clients machines, the ClearCase COM bindings won't be present, so loading will fail, on the other half SVN won't be installed, so the SVN plugin won't load) though, MEF throws an exception and no plugin works; I was hoping that the rest of the plugins would load. [ImportMany(AllowRecomposition = true)] public IEnumerable<IVersionControl> RegisteredProviders { get; private set; } Instead, if any providers fail to construct themselves, then RegisteredProviders is null. Is there a simple way of configuring MEF to achieve this (reporting exceptions but loading other instances), or do I have to change the interface to delay their intialisation failure until after MEF has instantiated the objects?
