However, I'm only being supplied a LibraryId, so I'm forced to traverse their list of Consortium, find which one contains the given id, then iterate over the branches and remove the one that matches the id. • Gson serialization depending on field value

  I have a POJO that is similar to: public class MyGsonPojo { @Expose @SerializedName("value1") private String valueOne; @Expose @SerializedName("value2") private boolean valueTwo; @Expose @SerializedName("value3") private int valueThree; // Getters and other stuff here } The issue is that this object has to be serialized into a json body for a call to the server. Some fields are optional for the request and if I even send it with default and null values, the API responds differently (Unfortunately changing the api is not an option). So basically I need to exclude fields from serialization if any of them is set to a default value. For example if the field valueOne is null the resulting json should be: { "value2" : true, "value3" : 2 } Any idea how to make this a painless effort? I wouldn't want to build the json body manually. Any help would be great. Thank you in advice.

• Applying styles to a GridView matching certain criteria

  Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to ASP.Net so it's probably just me being a bit stupid, but I just can't figure out why this isn't working. Basically, I have a GridView control (GridView1) on a page which is reading from a database. I already have a CSS style applied to the GridView and all I want to do is change the background image applied in the style depending on if a certain cell has data in it or not. The way I'm trying to handle this change is updating the CSS class applied to each row through C#. I have the code below doing this: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s.Length > 0) { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } In theory, the data from Cell[7] will either be null or be a string (in this case, likely a person's name). The problem is that when the page loads, every row in the GridView has the new style applied to it, whether it's empty or not. However, when I change it to use hard coded examples, it works fine. So for example, the below would work exactly how I want it to: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s == "Smith") //Matching a name in one of the rows { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } It seems as if the top piece of code is always returning the string with a value greater than 0, but when I check the database the fields are all null (except for my test record of "Smith"). I'm probably doing something very simple that's wrong here, but I can't see what. Like I said, I'm still very new to this. One thing I have tried is changing the argument in the if statement to things like: if (s != null), if (s != "") and if (s == string.empty) all with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated and don't hesitate to tell me if I'm just being stupid here. :)

  Hello, I have a question related to correct handling of returns of the DAO library I'm writing for one project. This library probably is going to be used by another people and I want to do it correctly. So I would like to know, how I should deal with return statements of the functions of my DAO. Example 1 I have function to getCustomer which should return String. In case query doesn't return any result should I return null, empty string or throw some kind of Exception? Example 2 I have function getCutomerList which return ArrayList. In case query doesn't return any result should I return null, empty ArrayList or throw some Exception? Example 3 Some sql exception was detected, what should I do: throw exception or do try..catch of the block where it can occur? What is the "good" practice or "best" practice to apply in my case? • Race condition for thread startup

  A similar question was asked here, but the answers generally all seem to relate to the lambda notation. I get a similar result without the lambda so I thought I'd ask for some clarification: Say I have something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); One would expect the following output: Thread 0 Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Now I realise that the threads aren't started in any particular order, so let's just assume that the above lines can come out in any order. But that is not what happens. What instead happens: Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 or something similar, which leads me to believe that rather than passing the value if i, it is passing the reference. (Which is weird, since an int is a value type). Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { int j = i; Console.WriteLine("Thread " + j); }))).Start(); does not help either, even though we have made a copy of i. I am assuming the reason is that it hasn't made a copy of i in time. Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); Thread.Sleep(50); } seems to fix the problem, however it is extremely undesirable as we're wasting 50ms on each iteration, not to mention the fact that if the computer is heavily loaded then maybe 50ms may not be enough. Here is a sample with my current, specific problem: Thread t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(delgate() { threadLogic(param1, param2, param3, param4); })); t.Start(); param1 = param2 = param3 = param4 = null; with: void threadLogic(object param1, object param2, object param3, object param4) { // Do some stuff here... } I want threadLogic() to run in its own thread, however the above code gives a null reference exception. I assume this is because the values are set to null before the thread has had a chance to start. Again, putting a Thread.Sleep(100) works, but it is an awful solution from every aspect. What do you guys recommend for this particular type of race condition?

  I have a TreeView with check boxes, and when a user checks a child node, I want to go up the tree and check each parent. However, for some reason my application blows up whenever I touch the parent node. For the nodes in my tree, I've extended TreeNode to create my own objects with some data that I need to store in them, but I still reference them as TreeNodes when checking/unchecking.   Hi, I want to test an "Adapter" object that when it receives an xml message, it digest it to a Message object, puts message ID + CorrelationID both with timestamps and forwards it to a Client object.=20 A message can be correlated to a previous one (e.g. m2.correlationID =3D m1.ID). I mock the Client, and check that Adapter successfully calls "client.forwardMessage(m)" twice with first message with null correlationID, and a second with a not-null correlationID. However, I would like to precisely test that the correlationIDs are set correctly, by grabing the IDs (e.g. m1.ID). But I couldn't find anyway to do so. There is a jira about adding the feature, but no one commented and it is unassigned. Is this really unimplemented? I read about the alternative of redesigning the Adapter to use an IdGenerator object, which I can stub, but I think there will be too many objects.=20 Don't you think it adds unnecessary complexity to split objects to a so fine granularity?   I keep getting errors using Sql Compact. I have seen that it is possible to create table constraints in compact edition as shown here. And according to the documents found here it provides "Full referential integrity with cascading deletes and updates". So am I really not allowed to do the following or am I making a mistake? I have tried using dlookup(txtBeginBalance = Dlookup("EndBalance", _ "Schedules","[ScheduleID] = Form![Schedules]![ScheduleID]-1) but there is no effect but if I use txtBeginBalance = txtEndBalance the value of txtEndBalance is assigned to the value of txtBeginBalance of the same record (want next record). Secondly, how can I set focus to the next record if a contro(txtAmountPaid) is not null on clicking the btnAddPayment or assigning the value of a calculation when the control is 0 or null ? Thanks

I tried to solve this problem with grundy but i'm unable to reduce the sequence to a grundy number because it both player don't have the same option to move. Can anyone give me a hint to solve this problem ?

  I have two related models (one to many) in my django app and When I do something like this ObjBlog = Blog() objBlog.name = 'test blog' objEntry1 = Entry() objEntry1.title = 'Entry one' objEntry2 = Entry() objEntry2.title = 'Entry Two' objBlog.entry_set.add(objEntry1) objBlog.entry_set.add(objEntry2) I get an error which says "null value in column and it violates the foreign key not null constraint". None of my model objects have been saved. Do I have to save the "objBlog" before I could set the entries? I was hoping I could call the save method on objBlog to save it all.
