  • Tootip steals mouse click

    I'm writing a custom TreeView from ScrollableControl. I decided to show tooltips when mouse is hover nodes with text too long to display. I find out when tooltips are shown, user would not be able to click the node to select it, because (I think) he's clicking the tooltip window, not my control. Is there any easy solutions? As I can see System.Windows.Forms.TreeView don't have this problem. Thanks!

    What is the best way for an SWT application to clean up resources before application exit? I see two options: 1) Add a DisposeListener to main window (or better, to the Display). Will it get run if an uncaught exception happens? 2) Use a shutdown hook. Any problems to be aware of there which aren't mentioned in Design of the Shutdown Hooks API?

  • Google Maps rendering locally but not in live environment

    I have a page that renders a simple google map for a specified location. This map renders without any problems at all when I run it locally on localhost, however, when I deploy this code to our live web servers (using our LIVE google API key for the appropriate domain) it fails to render, and upon putting a series of alerts within the javascript on the page, it appears that the 'Initialize' method (which should be called within body onLoad) is not being called. When I view the HTML source that is rendered on the live server it appears exactly as per the local version of the site (including the call to initialize() within the body onLoad event), albeit with the different maps API key. I have output the host (alert(window.location.host);) to ensure that the key I generated via the google maps api site, corresponds exactly to the live server, which it does. Does anyone have any ideas why it would be working locally but not when deployed to the live servers? The live site is hosted on 2 load-balanced web servers.   • Can I avoid a threaded UDP socket in Python dropping data?

    First off, I'm new to Python and learning on the job, so be gentle! I'm trying to write a threaded Python app for Windows that reads data from a UDP socket (thread-1), writes it to file (thread-2), and displays the live data (thread-3) to a widget (gtk.Image using a gtk.gdk.pixbuf). I'm using queues for communicating data between threads. My problem is that if I start only threads 1 and 3 (so skip the file writing for now), it seems that I lose some data after the first few samples. After this drop it looks fine. Even by letting thread 1 complete before running thread 3, this apparent drop is still there. Apologies for the length of code snippet (I've removed the thread that writes to file), but I felt removing code would just prompt questions.     So I've got an IKBrowserView all wired up and happily dragging my custom datatype (provided lazily via PasteboardItem) from one window to another, but now I'm interested in detecting when the user drops some data onto the trashcan. Cocoa's documentation says to check the return type of the drag operation itself, but how exactly do I do this with an IKBrowserView? Once I call imageBrowser:writeItemsAtIndexes:toPasteboard: I don't seem to get any notifications other than the request for the pasteboard contents, which doesn't provide a pointer to the drag operation that invoked it.

    The MFC program I am debugging is printing this message in the "Output" window in Visual Studio 9.0: HEAP[AppName.exe]: Invalid allocation size - 99999998 (exceeded 7ffdefff) I'm pretty sure this is due to a bad "new", uninitialized variable or similar error. The question is: how do I get the debugger to stop on this message so that I can view the stack trace and solve the problem?

    I'm revising this question after reading the resources mentioned in the original answers and working through implementing it. I'm using the google maps api to integrate a map into my Rails site. I have a markets model with the following columns: ID, name, address, lat, lng. On my markets/index view, I want to populate a map with all the markets in my markets table. I'm trying to output @markets as json data, and that's where I'm running into problems. I have the basic map displaying, but right now it's just a blank map. I'm following the tutorials very closely, but I can't get the markers to generate dynamically from the json. Any help is much appreciated!
