• IE6 and IE7 Standalone: What do they render differently?

  It's common knowledge on SO (see this question) that to run IE6 and IE7 you need a Windows box (or virtual box) with only those apps installed. I doubt this is true (they are the real versions, I think). The two browsers I'm interested in are: Standalone IE6 from the MultipleIEs install Standalone IE7 also from Tredosoft (but published elsewhere) These two plus a "real" install of IE8 give you three IE versions in one Windows install. We all know that "You're out of luck if you're trying to run them all reliably in one VM," but can someone please show me JS, CSS, or HTML (or a plugin, etc.) that does not work on the standalone versions as it should? Downvoters: I'm fixing the question so that it's less aggressive, but since there are no comments I don't know what you don't like about this question. Also: I have ALL the test cases set up (IE6, IE7 and IE8, as well as the standalone versions) so if anybody has any code they want me to test, I can do that.

  I'm writing a web app that will use twitter as its primary log on method. I've written code which gets the oauth token back from Twitter. My plan is now to Find the entry in my Users table for the twitter username retreived using the token, or create the entry if necessary Update the Users.TwitterOAuthToken column with the new OAuth token Create a permanent cookie with a random guid on the site and insert a record into my UserCookies table matching Cookie to User when a request comes in I will look for the browser cookie id in the UserCookies table, then use that to figure out the user, and make twitter requests on their behalf Write the oauth token into some pages as a js variable so that javascript can make requests on behalf of the user If the user clears his/her cookies the user will have to log in again to twitter Is this the correct process? Have I created any massive security holes? thanks!

  Maybe it's because it's Friday but I'm stuck on a simple problem. I'm building a FAQ page where a user clicks on a question, revealing the answer beneath it. I'm trying to get the next() function to just grab the next instance of an "answer" div but, despite not getting any JS errors, the hidden div isn't showing. • Making a web interface for neo4j

  I have a local neo4j database server and I want to build a web interface using javascript. Ideally I want to do all the querying and display the result client side for the website. I am mostly a Java programmer and unfortunately don't have much experience with Javascript. How can I do a cypher query from the website and return the result in a format which I can display easily in a table for example? I have seen examples of doing the querying server side with servlets or node.js but really would like to just have the neo4j server and the website client. I would be interesting in seeing a small working example if it is at all possible. Thanks for your time.

• Do I have to duplicate this function? - jQuery

  I'm using this function to create an transparent overlay of information over the current div for a web-based mobile app. Background: using jQTouch, so I have separate divs, not individual pages loading new. $(document).ready(function() { $('.infoBtn').click(function() { $('#overlay').toggleFade(400); return false; }); }); Understanding that JS will run sequentially when i click the button on the first div the function works fine. When I go to the next div if I click the same button nothing "happens" when this div is displayed, but if i go back to the first div it has actually triggered it on this page. So I logically duplicated the function and changed the CSS selector names and it works for both. But do I have to do this for each use? Is there a way to use the same selectors, but load the different content in each variation?

• jquery not working in mvc after publishing to server

  Hello, I've built an mvc application which contains some jquery code. When I run the app from my ide, everything works perfectly. When I publish to the server and open the page, the jquery does not work. I get object expected errors. Could this be due to my file mappings? here is a sample of my mapping in the app - <script type="text/javascript" href="../../Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.js"></script> I published the app to iis7 successfully, but the jquery is broken. I did publish to an application within an existing web site. Any thoughts?

This means that it can often be more space-efficient to have properties such as 't', or 'b' rather than 'title' or 'body', however for fear of confusion I would avoid this unless truly required! I am aware of solutions of how to do it I am more intrested in when is it truly required?

• BlueScreens on my ThinkPad with Windows 7 64 Bit and a SSD (CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION, ntoskernel.exe)

  I'm getting BlueScreens about every five days for more than three months. Here's an example: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. Of course the addresses change. My computer is a ThinkPad T400 (about 2 years old) with a SSD in it. I'm also running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. When I bought my computer, it had a 250GByte SeaGate HDD in it, which I replaced by a 500GByte HDD by Western Digital. Last september I bought a Corsair F120 SSD and replaced the HDD by this SSD. Then I bought a LEICKE HDD adapter for the UltraBay II where I plugged in my 500GByte HDD. This configuration ran about half a year without any errors. After re-installing Windows this spring, I am getting regular BlueScreens. Sometimes my system runs for about 2 weeks without a BSOD, sometimes I get several BlueScreens a day. The only thing that I noticed is, that I'm always running Google Chrome when it happens. Is there anyone who has made his/her own bad experiences whith some of my components or is there anybody who can tell me if it would be helpful to send my notebook to Lenovo?   I have to select web link when i mouse hover to particular frame in the webpage, the button(link to next page) will be visible. • Browser not handling exception from AJAX panel, ASP.NET c#

  Hi, i am having trouble catching errors in an AJAX panel. Even when i throw an exception in the c# code behind the front end completely ignores it. Here is the code i have setup, can anyone see why? I ideally want to show a js alert window on error. • Detecting support for a given JavaScript event?

  I'm interested in using the JavaScript hashchange event to monitor changes in the URL's fragment identifier. I'm aware of Really Simple History and the jQuery plugins for this. However, I've reached the conclusion that in my particular project it's not really worth the added overhead of another JS file. What I would like to do instead is take the "progressive enhancement" route. That is, I want to test whether the hashchange event is supported by the visitor's browser, and write my code to use it if it's available, as an enhancement rather than a core feature. IE 8, Firefox 3.6, and Chrome 4.1.249 support it, and that accounts for about 20% of my site's traffic. So, uh ... is there some way to test whether a browser supports a particular event? Thanks.

  Hello im developing some backends in ASP.NET 2.0 and i have put all the images in Cache, GZIPED my CSS, JS files and everything to speedup the load of each options. the performance its good and i have no problems with the clients but i want "MORE" fast loads and im looking for some recomendations. Is important to mention that those websites are using only in intranets so im thinking to implement my next projects using IFRAME for content that way (i think) the options will be loading faster because they not have to load the entire site. any help / recomendations? thanks in advance.

• Slide through view controllers but not with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer

  Here is my issue, i got 5 view controllers and i can switch between them trough swipe with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer class and xcode's storyboard. So this works, but, i dont like the slide effect. I like to make it in a way so you can exactly slide the view to another by dragging it. For example, like this slider in JS: http://dimsemenov.com/plugins/royal-slider/ Can anyone send me in the right direction? I searched on the internet but i cant find any functions or tutorial on how to do this. Thanks in advance! Edit: Im not looking the scroll view.
