  • Navigating through code with keyboard shortcuts

    I'm starting to feel the need to run fastly through code with keyboard shortcuts, to arrive faster where I want to make any changes (avoiding use of mouse or long times holding [up], [left], [right] and [down]). I'm already using some: [home] - first position in current line [end] - last position in current line [ctrl] + [home] - first line of the entire code [ctrl] + [end] - last line of the entire code [pageup] - same vertical position, one screen above [pagedown] - same vertical position, one screen below [ctrl] + [pageup] - first line in current screen [ctrl] + [end] - last line in current screen [ctrl] + [left/right] - skipping word per word What have you got ? I use Visual Studio. (but I'm open to any answer, as I maybe can use others soon) obs: I've searched through stackoverflow and didn't find a nice question with this content, nor a list of keyboard code searching. If it's repeated, I'm sorry for not finding it, I'm here in my best intentions. This question is NOT about any shortcuts, and not only about visual studio, it's about running through code with shortcuts. Answers that suit the question so far: [Ctrl] + [-] - jumps to last cursor position [Ctrl] + [F3] - Jumps to next occurance of the word the curson is in [Shift] + [F3] - Same as the above, backwards. [F12] - Goes to definition of method/variable the cursor is in [Ctrl] + [ ] ] - Jumps to matching brace and select I'll ad more as there are answers.

  • page not show after issuing zf command

    hello guys, just simple question, recently i have setup a web server to build project using zend framework, after setup and see those welcome page saying that you are creating websites powered by zendframework, then i try issuing command, $ zf create controller alert i get the message that saying that i've successfully create controller, view and so on, but when i try to navigate to the page by URL, ex: www.mywebapp.com/alert the page is broken, i've check those tuts but none of them showing this case. can some one define which step i've skip? update: (25/5/2010) so i've found that there is no problem, is just that i've not configured properly my route to my web apps, so i have to type URL like this: www.mywebapp.com/index.php/alert how am I going to change this? i mean i want to explode "index.php" out of URL.

    Ok, I understand that using strings that have special characters is an encoding issue. However I am not sure how to adjust my code to allow these characters. Below is the code that works great for text that contains no special characters, but can you show me how and where to change the code to allow for the special characters to be used.     If you are familiar with TopCoder you know that your source-code gets a final "grade/points" this depends on time, how many compiles, etc, one of the highest weighted being performance. But how can they test that, is there some sort of simple code (java or c++) to do it that you could share for me to evaluate and hopefully write my own to test the programs I write for University? This is sort of a follow up question to this one where I ask if shorter code results in best performance. P.S: Im interested in both of how topcoders knows performance and writing code to test performance.

    I am working on a Visual Studio 2008 project that is already added to TFS server. I am not sure which settings and policies have been configured for the TFS (this is done by a separate dept, not developers) Every time I make an edit to a code file , the file is checked out automatically (without explicitly checking out the code file myself) Please help me locate this setting or policy because it is not very useful at the moment. Sometime you want to make a local change to try out something, and not necessarily check out the code....

    I'm trying to install Agile Uploader, but keep running into an error code 2101 (no other message besides that.) Any idea what error code "2101" means? Whenever I try to submit/upload (when I call agileUploaderSubmit()), nothing seems to happen and with Firebug mode on, all the log prints out is that code.   • Does malloc() allocate a contiguous block of memory?

    I have a piece of code written by a very old school programmer :-) . it goes something like this typedef struct ts_request { ts_request_buffer_header_def header; char package[1]; } ts_request_def; ts_request_buffer_def* request_buffer = malloc(sizeof(ts_request_def) + (2 * 1024 * 1024)); the programmer basically is working on a buffer overflow concept. I know the code looks dodgy. so my questions are: Does malloc always allocate contiguous block of memory ?. because in this code if the blocks are not contiguous , the code will fail big time Doing free(request_buffer) , will it free all the bytes allocated by malloc i.e sizeof(ts_request_def) + (2 * 1024 * 1024), or only the bytes of the size of the structure sizeof(ts_request_def) Do you see any evident problems with this approach , i need to discuss this with my boss and would like to point out any loopholes with this approach

    Hi, I have all written code and i want to this code standarise by php code sniffer. I would like to know what is the best way to start with it . I had installed it but when i run the command phpcs /path/to/code/myfile.php in the command line i got the last one hundered line error from 310 to 410 . but if i want to see the starting errors of any line error how can i see that . Mostly errors are 322 | ERROR | Spaces must be used to indent lines; tabs are not allowed 322 | ERROR | Line indented incorrectly; expected at least 8 spaces, found 2 How can i solve these things easily and in future it don't repeat , what it saying that i should not use tab , and use space , by using space it will take time . and how can i start with basic standard ,because don't want to utilise more time in this right now. How could I order them? I probably have to write a many-to-many HQL query with the order-by clause? I though of passing the orderBy field name string to the query, or is there a better solution? Tables are: products, product_catalog, product_product_catalog (associative table) P.S. Using Play! Framework JPASupport for my entities.

    Hi, i googled for an hour now but maybe my Google-Fu is just too weak, i couldn't find a solution. I want to create an application that queries a service via JSON requests (all data and backend/business logic is stored in the service). With plain PHP it's simple enough since i just make a curl request, json_decode the result and get what i need. This already works quite well. A request might look like this: Call http://service-host/userlist with body: {"logintoken": "123456-1234-5678-901234"} Get Result: { "status": "Ok", "userlist":[ {"name": "foo", "id": 1}, {"name": "bar", "id": 2} ] } Now we want to get that into the Zend Framework since it's a hobby project and we want to learn about Zend. The problem is that all information i could find use a Database. Is there even a way to create a Zend Project that does not use a Database? And how can i write a model that represents the actions instead of objects and object-relations?

I have two options: 1] Allow everything to be in it, such as: [a-z|a-Z|0-9|_|$], and go on 2] Get an extra java grammar and use that grammar to parse that small code (is it actually possible and efficient?) Since option 2] is basically a double-check since when evaluating java code it's also being checked. Dim _startTick As Integer = Environment.TickCount 'Do some Task' Dim duration As Integer = Environment.TickCount - _startTick Logger.Debug("Time taken : {0}", duration) RaiseEvent Datareceived() Above code returns Time Taken :1200 Time Taken :1400 But if remove RaiseEvent it returns Time Taken :110 Time Taken :121 I am surprised that the raiseevent is called after the logging of time taken. How it effects total time taken. I am working on Compact framework. Update: In the Eventhandler I had given a MsgBox. When I removed the message box it is now showing time taken as 110,121,etc i.e. less that 500 milliseconds. If I put the Msgbox back in eventhandler it shows 1200,1400,etc i.e. more that a second. More surprised now.(Event is raised after the logging part)

    After six months of development on a project, our stakeholders have had a "gut check" and have decided that the path that we've been walking (a custom designed application framework and data access layer) is holding us (the developers) back from quickly developing the features they would like to see. After several days of debate management and the development team have decided to scrap the current incarnation and start over using ASP.net MVC, with Entity Framework as the bases of the a 'quick and dirty', lets just get it done project. In days following, our senior developer who has never worked with MVC or Entity Framework has finally gotten into a sample project and done some work. His take on ASP.net MVC, "this is not software engineering". So my question is this; what do you do, when one doesn't think the code is complicated enough?

    Programming languages/environments aside, are there many developers who are using a framework in PHP, ORM and still abide by encapsulation for the DAL/BLL? I'm managing a team of a few developers and am finding that most of the frameworks require me to do daily code inspection because my developers are using the built in ORM. Right now, I've been using a tool to generate the classes and CRUD myself, with an area for them to write additional queries/functions. What's been happening though, is they are creating vulnerabilities by not doing proper checks on data permission, or allowing the key fields to be manipulated in the form. Any suggestions, other than get a new team and a new language (I've seen Python/Ruby frameworks have the same issues).

  • OpenNETCF.Net.Ftp Behaving Flaky

    I tried posting on their boards (authors of this library), however it literally takes months for them to reply when it comes to the free software (can't blame them). But anyways I have found that this library is behaving weirdly - for instance, a major problem with my application is when someone is trying to sign in (through FTP), they provide a correct login and mistype the password, no reply is received from FTP server. I tried doing the same from command window just to verify that it's not the FTP server's fault; and FTP commands were received instantaneously. It almost looks as though this library eats the commands. The same actions often times will yield different results. Can anyone recommend a stable, reliable library to use with Compact framework? Or shed some light on this issue...?
