  • Does jQuery or JavaScript have the concept of classes and objects?

    I found the following code somewhere, but I am not understanding the code properly. ArticleVote.submitVote('no');return false; Is ArticleVote a class and submitVote() a function of that class? Or what does the above code mean? And is there any concept of classes and objects in jQuery or in traditional JavaScript? How to create them? Please share some reference links or code.

  • Relative links in CSS, after moving Wordpress

    I created a blog with Wordpress on a temporary test domain. I put it in the main directory, not a folder. Now I want to move it to the correct website, in a folder. I can update all of the MySQL values for the site URL, and the relative path links work just fine. The problem is that I can't seem to make my CSS path links work. I realize that my problem is that they are relative to the CSS file, in the WordPress theme, and not the page. But how can I fix this? Here is an example: #topNav {background:#3a93c3 url(wp-content/uploads/2011/07/blueNav.jpg) repeat-x;} I have tried adding './', '../', and '../../' to the beginning, but it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions?

    Is there a solution for cross browser event. I need to check if user closes their window and to throw an ajax request to my database to sign them out. I've looked everyone but most cases its not working in all browsers. Anyone have a solution? Or Alternative on how to do this perhaps a conditional statement depending on the browser? Thanks!

  • How can I force input to uppercase in an asp.net textbox?

    I'm writing an asp.net application. I have a textbox on a webform and I want to force whatever the user types to upper case. I'd like to do this on the front end. You should also note that there is a validation control on this textbox, so I want to make sure the solution doesn't interfere with the asp.net validation. Clarification: It appears that the CSS text-tranform makes the user input appear in uppercase, however under the hood, it's still lower case as the validation control fails. You see, my validation control checks to see if a valid state code is entered, however the regex expression I"m using only works with uppercase characters.

    Hi, I'm trying to change the borders in the style sheet of the template on my blog, but I've never done anything with css so I'm a little bit at a loss... I want to keep the dark background, but I want to create a small border with a slightly different color around my postings.     I'm in the process of coding my own Tumblr Theme. Well I was wondering how should I list the posts? In the basic theme, (the one you get when you sign up) doesn't use list items (<li>). But I saw in another theme that it does use list items. By the way, this is what I mean... <div class="post-text"><div> <div class="post-audio"><div> ... or <ul> <li class="post-text"></li> ... </ul> I'm confused on the way I should go - I want to go to the semantic way of doing it because the theme will be built in HTML5.

  • Using JS to POST a form in an iframe.

    I would like to POST a form in an iframe, generated like so: My JS loads an iframe inside the page, adds a form to the iframe and submits the form. What I would like to happen is the iframe to load the result of that request. So, I would effectively like to post a form and render the result inside the iframe, without touching the parent (apart from putting the iframe up for display in the first place). I am using the code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/133925/javascript-post-request-like-a-form-submit/134003#134003 but I can't get it to not reload the parent. I post the form, and instead of the iframe refreshing, the entire parent refreshes. I don't know why that is, since the url it's posting to is different and would at least redirect there. Can anyone help me with this problem? I just want a post inside an iframe and only within the iframe, basically.

    I am trying to create a dynamic hyperlink that depends on a value passed from a function: {% for item in field_list %} <a href={% url index_view %}{{ item }}/> {{ item }} </a> <br> {% endfor %} The problem is that one of the items in field_list is "Hockey Player". The link for some reason is dropping everything after the space, so it creates the hyperlink on the entire "Hockey Player", but the address is http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey How can I get it to go to http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey Player/ instead?

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly. For the front end I would let user to choose a year, then the click submit button. All the content in that year will be show up in separate table by month. When I click a list item I want jQuery to check if the first letter of the item matches the first letter in any table cell in my markup, if so the parent table row should be shown and other rows should be hidden.   • Very different font sizes across browsers

    Chrome/WebKit and Firefox have different rendering engines which render fonts differently, in particular with differing dimensions. This isn't too surprising, but what's surprising is the magnitude of some of the differences. I can always tweak individual elements on a page to be more similar, but that's tedious, to say the least. I've been searching for more systematic solutions, but many resources (e.g. SO answers) simply say "use a reset package." While I'm sure this fixes a bunch of other things like padding and spacing, it doesn't seem to make any difference for font dimensions. For instance, if I take the reset package from http://html5reset.org/, I can show pretty big differences (note the layout dimensions shown in the inspectors).
