  • Is it possible to virtualize war file execution without separate J2EE container deployments?

    - by Smith
Let's say I want to allow my developers to upload their war files to a web app (not the application server itself) running on our intranet and that web app would then run those wars as if they were separate apps deployed individually in our J2EE container. In other words, we are not actually deploying the wars as separate apps in the container - they are simply running side-by-side inside this one web app that acts like a J2EE container. Is that possible? Something like a war virtualization app?

  • Best way to manage JSON object via GET and POST in php.

    - by Kucebe
My site does some short ajax call in JSON format, using jQuery. At client-side i'd like to send object just passing it in ajax function, without being forced to wrap it in an object literal like this: {'JSON_Obj' : myJSON_Obj }. For the same reasons, at server-side i'd like to manage objects without the binding of $_GET['JSON_Obj'] or $_POST['JSON_Obj']. For example, using file_get_contents("php://input"), i can manage POST requests in that way, but in GET format it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  • Understanding REST through an example

    - by grifaton
My only real exposure to the ideas of REST has been through Ruby on Rails' RESTful routing. This has suited me well for the kind of CRUD-based applications I have built with Rails, but consequently my understanding of RESTfulness is somewhat limited. Let's say we have a finite collection of Items, each of which has a unique ID, and a number of properties, such as colour, shape, and size (which might be undefined for some Items). Items can be used by a client for a period of time, but each Item can only be used by one client at once. Access to Items is regulated by a server. Clients can request the temporary use of certain items from a server. Usually, clients will only be interested in getting access to a number of Items with particular properties, rather than getting access to specific Items. When a client requests use of a number of Items, the server responds with a list of IDs corresponding to the request, or with a response that says that the requested Items are not currently available or do not exist. A client can make the following kinds of request: Tell me how many green triangle Items there are (in total/available). Give me use of 200 large red Items. I have finished with Items 21, 23, 23. Add 100 new red square Items. Delete 50 small green Items. Modify all big yellow pentagon Items to be blue. The toy example above is like a resource allocation problem I have had to deal with recently. How should I go about thinking about it RESTfully?

  • MySQL Config File for Large System

    - by Jonathon
We are running MySQL on a Windows 2003 Server Enterpise Edition box. MySQL is about the only program running on the box. We have approx. 8 slaves replicated to it, but my understanding is that having multiple slaves connecting to the same master does not significantly slow down performance, if at all. The master server has 16G RAM, 10 Terabyte drives in RAID 10, and four dual-core processors. From what I have seen from other sites, we have a really robust machine as our master db server. We just upgraded from a machine with only 4G RAM, but with similar hard drives, RAID, etc. It also ran Apache on it, so it was our db server and our application server. It was getting a little slow, so we split the db server onto this new machine and kept the application server on the first machine. We also distributed the application load amongst a few of our other slave servers, which also run the application. The problem is the new db server has mysqld.exe consuming 95-100% of CPU almost all the time and is really causing the app to run slowly. I know we have several queries and table structures that could be better optimized, but since they worked okay on the older, smaller server, I assume that our my.ini (MySQL config) file is not properly configured. Most of what I see on the net is for setting config files on small machines, so can anyone help me get the my.ini file correct for a large dedicated machine like ours? I just don't see how mysqld could get so bogged down! FYI: We have about 100 queries per second. We only use MyISAM tables, so skip-innodb is set in the ini file. And yes, I know it is reading the ini file correctly because I can change some settings (like the server-id and it will kill the server at startup). Here is the my.ini file: #MySQL Server Instance Configuration File # ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # Generated by the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard # # # Installation Instructions # ---------------------------------------------------------------------- # # On Linux you can copy this file to /etc/my.cnf to set global options, # mysql-data-dir/my.cnf to set server-specific options # (@localstatedir@ for this installation) or to # ~/.my.cnf to set user-specific options. # # On Windows you should keep this file in the installation directory # of your server (e.g. C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server X.Y). • Running an application from an USB device...

    - by Workshop Alex
I'm working on a proof-of-concept application, containing a WCF service with console host and client, both on a single USB device. On the same device I will also have the client application which will connect to this service. The service uses the entity framework to connect to the database, which in this POC will just return a list of names. If it works, it will be used for a larger project. Creating the client and service was easy and this works well from USB. But getting the service to connect to the database isn't. I've found this site, suggesting that I should modify machine.config but that stops the XCopy deployment. This project cannot change any setting of the PC, so this suggestion is bad. I cannot create a deployment setup either. The whole thing just needs to run from USB disk. So, how do I get it to run? (The service just selects a list of names from the database, which it returns to the client. If this POC works, it will do far more complex things!)

  • probelm with recv() on a tcp connection

    - by michael
Hi, I am simulating TCP communication on windows in C I have sender and a receiver communicating. sender sends packets of specific size to receiver. receiver gets them and send an ACK for each packet it received back to the sender. If the sender didn't get a specific packet (they are numbered in a header inside the packet) it sends the packet again to the receiver. Here is the getPacket function on the receiver side: //get the next packet from the socket. set the packetSize to -1 //if it's the first packet. //return: total bytes read // return: 0 if socket has shutdown on sender side, -1 error, else number of bytes received int getPakcet(char *chunkBuff, int packetSize,SOCKET AcceptSocket){ int totalChunkLen = 0; int bytesRecv=-1; bool firstTime=false; if (packetSize==-1) { packetSize=MAX_PACKET_LENGTH; firstTime=true; } int needToGet=packetSize; do { char* recvBuff; recvBuff = (char*)calloc(needToGet,sizeof(char)); if(recvBuff == NULL){ fprintf(stderr,"Memory allocation problem\n"); return -1; } bytesRecv = recv(AcceptSocket, recvBuff, needToGet, 0); if (bytesRecv == SOCKET_ERROR){ fprintf(stderr,"recv() error %ld.\n", WSAGetLastError()); totalChunkLen=-1; return -1; } if (bytesRecv == 0){ fprintf(stderr,"recv(): socket has shutdown on sender side"); return 0; } else if(bytesRecv > 0) { memcpy(chunkBuff + totalChunkLen,recvBuff, bytesRecv); totalChunkLen+=bytesRecv; } needToGet-=bytesRecv; } while ((totalChunkLen < packetSize) && (!firstTime)); return totalChunkLen; } i use firstTime because for the first time the receiver doesn't know the normal package size that the sender is going to send to it, so i use a MAX_PACKET_LENGTH to get a package and then set the normal package size to the num of bytes i have received my problem is the last package. it's size is less than the package size so lets say last package size is 2 and the normal package size is 4. so recv() gets two bytes, continues to the while condition, then totalChunkLen < packetSize because 2<4 so it iterates the loop again and the gets stuck in recv() because it's blocking because the sender has nothing to send. on the sender side i can't close the connection because i didn't ACK back, so it's kind of a deadlock. receiver is stuck because it's waiting for more packages but sender has nothing to send. i don't want to use a timeout for recv() or to insert a special character to the package header to mark that it is the last one what can i do ? thanks

  • How can I make XSLT work in chrome?

    - by Eric
I have an XML document here that is served with a corresponding XSL file. The transformation is left to be executed client-side, without JavaScript. This works fine in IE (shock horror), but in Google Chrome, just displays the document's text nodes. I know that it is possible to do client-side XSL in Chrome, as I have seen examples of it, but I am yet to be able to replicate this success myself What am I doing wrong?

  • How does Page.IsValid work?

    - by Lijo
I have following code with a RequiredFieldValidator. The EnableClientScript property is set as "false" in the validation control. Also I have disabled script in browser. I am NOT using Page.IsValid in code behind. Still, when I submit without any value in textbox I will get error message. From comments of @Dai, I came to know that this can be an issue, if there is any code in Page_Load that is executed in a postback. There will be no validation errors thrown. (However, for button click handler, there is no need to check Page.IsValid) if (Page.IsPostBack) { string value = txtEmpName.Text; txtEmpName.Text = value + "Appended"; } QUESTION Why the server side validation does not happen before Page_Load? Why it works fine when I use Page.IsValid? UPDATE It seems like, we need to add If(Page.IsValid) in button click also if we are using a Custom Validator with server side validation. Refer CustomValidator not working well. Note: Client side validation question is present here: Whether to use Page_IsValid or Page_ClientValidate() (for Client Side Events) MARKUP <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> alert('haiii'); </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:ValidationSummary runat="server" ID="vsumAll" DisplayMode="BulletList" CssClass="validationsummary" ValidationGroup="ButtonClick" /> <asp:TextBox ID="txtEmpName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator ID="valEmpName" runat="server" ControlToValidate="txtEmpName" EnableClientScript="false" ErrorMessage="RequiredFieldValidator" Text="*" Display="Dynamic" ValidationGroup="ButtonClick"></asp:RequiredFieldValidator> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" onclick="Button1_Click" Text="Button" ValidationGroup="ButtonClick" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> CODE BEHIND protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string value = txtEmpName.Text; SubmitEmployee(value); } References: Should I always call Page.IsValid? • PHP Session doesn't get read in next page after login validation, Why?

    - by NetStar
I have a web site and when my users login it takes them to verify.php (where it connects to the DataBase and matches email and password to the user input and if OK puts client data into sessions and take the client to /memberarea/index.php ELSE back to login page with message "Invalid Email or password!") <?php ob_start(); session_start(); $email=$_POST['email']; $pass=md5($_POST['pass']); include("conn.php"); // connects to Database $sql="SELECT * FROM `user` WHERE email='$email' AND pass='$pass'"; $result=mysql_query($sql); $new=mysql_fetch_array($result); $_SESSION['fname']=$new['fname']; $_SESSION['lname']=$new['lname']; $_SESSION['email1']=$new['email1']; $_SESSION['passwrd']=$new['passwrd']; $no=mysql_num_rows($result); if ($no==1){ header('Location:memberarea/index.php'); }else { header("Location:login.php?m=$msg"); //msg="Invalid Login" } ?> then after email id and password is verified it takes them to ` /memberarea/index.php (This is where the problem happens.) where in index.php it checks if a session has been created in-order to block hackers to enter member area and sends them back to the login page. <? session_start(); isset($_SESSION['email'])` && `isset($_SESSION['passwrd'])` The problem is the client gets verified in verify.php (the code is above) In varify.php only after I put ob_start(); ontop of session_start(); It moves on to /memberarea/index.php , If I remove ob_start() It keeps the client on the verify.php page and displays error header is alredy SENT. after I put ob_start() it goes in to /memberarea/index.php but the session is blank, so it goes back to the login page and displays the error ($msg) "Invalid Login" which I programed to display. Can anyone tell me why the session cant pass values from verify.php to /memberarea/index.php

I just paste some code that made problem if you want see all code please tell me. After I debug the code, I found that if I set max thread to any and then the first thread always stuck in this loop. That bis.read(....) always return 0. Although, server had close stream and it not get out of the loop. I don't know why ... But another threads are work correctly. do { bytesRead = bis.read(byteArr, current, (byteArr.length-current)); if(bytesRead >= 0) current += bytesRead; } while(bytesRead != -1);

  • WCF hosting: Can access svc file but cannot go to wsdl link

    - by Impulse
Hello, I have a WCF service that is hosted in IIS 7.5. I have two servers, one for test and one for production. The service works fine on test server, but on the production server I have the following error. When I access the address http//..../service.svc I can see the default page that says: You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://..../service.svc?wsdl This will generate a configuration file and a code file that contains the client class. Add the two files to your client application and use the generated client class to call the Service. But when I click the wsdl link, I cannot go to the wsdl page. It returns me to this default web page without any errors. I am suspecting a network/firewall authorization error but does anybody have an experience like this one? All IIS settings are the same for test and production servers. Thank you, Best Regards.

  • How do you make a wrapped div fill the window horizontally?

    - by Alex Parkinson
I have a div which is contained by another 960px-wide centered div. I'm adding a background to the inner div which should expand all the way to the window's edges horizontally, essentially escaping the boundaries of its container. If I apply a large negative margin and equal amount of padding, this works on the left side, but the right side causes a scroll bar to appear. Does anyone know how I can achieve this without causing scroll bars?

  • mysql - multiple where and search

    - by Shamil
I'm trying to write a SQL query that satisfies multiple criteria. Of these, most are connected via a column, so joins are possible, however, some queries are such that I'd have to search additional tables for the information. What would be the least expensive and best way to do this? Let's say that we have a few tables. One table contains information such as sales information for a server: the salesperson, client id, service lease term, timestamps etc. It is possible that a client has multiple sales but with a different "service". I'd need to pick up all of the different ones. Another table has the quotes for the services, I'd need to pick some information out about this, whilst another, which could be joined to this one has some more information. Those tables are linked by a common client ID, so joins are possible, but I'd also need to search the first table for multiple instances of the client ID. Of course, I'd want to restrict the search to certain timestamps, which I can easily do as the timestamps are stored in MySQL format.

  • Why does my Perl TCP server script hang with many TCP connections?

    - by viraptor
I've got a strange issue with a server accepting TCP connections. Even though there are normally some processes waiting, at some volume of connections it hangs. Long version: The server is written in Perl and binds a $srv socket with the reuse flag and listen == 5. Afterwards, it forks into 10 processes with a loop of $clt=$srv->accept(); do_processing($clt); $clt->shutdown(2); The client written in C is also very simple - it sends some lines, then receives all lines available and does a shutdown(sockfd, 2); There's nothing async going on and at the end both send and receive queues are empty (as reported by netstat). Connections last only ~20ms. All clients behave the same way, are the same implementation, etc. Now let's say I'm accepting X connections from client 1 and another X from client 2. Processes still report that they're idle all the time. If I add another X connections from client 3, suddenly the server processes start hanging just after accepting. The first blocking thing they do after accept(); is while (<$clt>) ... - but they don't get any data (on the first try already). Suddenly all 10 processes are in this state and do not stop waiting. On strace, the server processes seem to hang on read(), which makes sense. There are loads of connections in TIME_WAIT state belonging to that server (~100 when the problem starts to manifest), but this might be a red herring. What could be happening here?
