  • make focusable element unfocusable on webkit

    - by Bill Keese
When a node has a tabIndex setting (other than -1), clicking it will give it focus. Removing the tabIndex setting should stop that behavior, so that clicking has no effect. However, on webkit, once a node has a tabIndex, even after tabIndex is removed, the node can still be clicked and focused. Setting tabIndex=-1 also has the same click problem. Anyone know a workaround to this problem? <div id="one">one (no initial tabindex)</div> <div id="two" tabindex=0>two (initially tabindex=0)</div> <button type=button onclick="document.getElementById('one').setAttribute('tabindex', 0)">set tabindex on first div</button> <button type=button onclick="document.getElementById('one').removeAttribute('tabindex', 0)">remove tabindex on first div</button> <button type=button onclick="document.getElementById('two').removeAttribute('tabindex', 0)">remove tabindex on second div</button> <button type=button onclick="document.getElementById('one').setAttribute('tabindex', -1)">set tabindex=1 on first div</button> <button type=button onclick="document.getElementById('two').setAttribute('tabindex', -1)">set tabindex=1 on second div</button>

  • How to style alternating rows in asp.net mvc

    - by YeahStu
I am using a <% foreach ...% loop to list a collection of items on my website. I want to add a different background color for the style of alternating rows in my list. I have found a way to do this but I am not satisfied with it as it seems like a hack. Here is what I have done to solve it so far: <table> <% int counter = 0; foreach (var item in Model) { counter++; if (counter % 2 == 0) { %> <tr class="colorfull"> <% } else { %> <tr> <% } %> ... Is there a best practice that I am missing that people are using for this scenario in ASP.NET MVC?

  • location.hash in an iframe scrolls the parent window

    - by Ben Clayton
Hi all. I have a page with an iframe. Inside the iframe is code (that I can't change) that sets location.hash to the id of an element in the iframe window. This has the unwanted effect of scrolling my outermost browser window so that the top of the window touches the top of the iframe. This is quite annoying as I have a toolbar above the iframe that is vital to my app. Is there any way of preventing the setting of location.hash affecting the scroll position of the main window? Will preventDefault help me out here? Thanks!

  • Clean and accesible Other option (Check box and text box)

    - by Svish
When I have a set of either check boxes or radio buttons I often need to have an Other choice. This check box or radio button is very often accompanied by a text box where the user is supposed to fill out what this Other is. How do you usually handle this set up? What kind of markup do you use? What do you require in your validation? Do you use java script for anything? For example: How do you make the form accessible? Do you use and how do you use the label tag, for example. Do you connect the check box and text box in any way with some javascript? For example, do you activate the text box when the check box is checked? Do you check or uncheck the check box automatically if the text box is filled out or cleared? Do you let validation fail with error messages if the check box is checked but the text box is not filled out, or if the text box is filled out but the check box is not checked? Or do you just consider it not filled out and not checked? Very unsure how to best deal with this issue, so any advice and examples are most welcome c",)

  • What is a robust jQuery Rich Text Editor with image upload capabilities?

    - by thinkswan
I know this question has been asked countless times, but answers are mixed, so I thought I'd test the waters and see what the latest verdict is out in the development community. I need a [preferably jQuery] rich text editor plugin that simply attaches itself to <textarea> elements and supports image uploads. It doesn't need to be too advanced. Just alignment, bold, italic, styles and image support. I tried CKEditor (along with CKFinder for image uploads), but it just has too many features and is too heavy for what I need. This is going to be used for simple webpage editing.

  • TextArea: Syntax Highlighted for TSQL?

    - by Abs
Hello all, I am looking for a very simple web based syntax highlighter where users can paste in code and be able to edit the code in a simple text area. I am hoping there is one for TSQL? The best I have found so far is this but this is SQL, I was hoping it to be TSQL. I could probably edit it myself but I am looking for something that I can easily drop into my web app. Thanks all

  • JQuery: Problem in getting element's width in Chrome

    - by Sarfraz
Hello, Suppose I have this image: <img src="images/01.jpg" border="0" rel="shadow" /> Then with JQuery, I get its width using: $('[rel="shadow"]').width(); Firefox and IE report correct dimensions of the image eg 140px while Chrome reports 0. How to solve this problem? Note: I don't want to set explicit width for images eg: <img src="images/01.jpg" border="0" rel="shadow" width="140" /> So, how to get width in cross-browser way which is not defined in width attribute of elements? Thanks

  • Scrolling when idle?

    - by Julie
Can anyone point me to an example of code for a page that begins to automatically scroll when the user is idle for an amount of time? I think this is slightly beyond my skill set. I think JQuery or something similar might be appropriate but I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm designing a site for the nonprofit I work for and we don't have the money to hire a programmer. I wouldn't ask anyone to code anything for me, just to point me in the right direction. Thank you so much. Julie K.

  • Actual table Vs. Div table

    - by omfgroflmao
    This <table> <tr> <td>Hello</td> <td>World</td> </tr> </table> Can be done with this: <div> <div style="display: table-row;"> <div style="display: table-cell;">Hello</div> <div style="display: table-cell;">World</div> </div> </div> Now, is there any difference between these two in terms of performance and/or render speed or they're just the same?

  • sIFR3: controlling a and a:hover styles inside replaced through CSS rather than JS

    - by sneeuwitje
For graceful degrading and minimal coding for the sIFR feature on my websites I would want to define styles in CSS as much as possible. Here's what I do: Define a H3 tag to be replaced by sIFR3. H3 comes in varying colors by CSS depending on it's container, say body.blue-txt h3{ color: #009CDA; } body.white-txt h3{ color: #FFFFFF; } body.etc... H3 might contain an anchor (I'm aware of semantical issues, but that's just how it is ... sorry) With setting sIFR.useStyleCheck = true; sIFR3 will show replaced normal H3 text with correct color, but when it contains a link, it shows the Flash default #0000FF .... All fine; I can tweak e.g. blue text in sifr-config.js by using the css-parameter for sIFR.replace(): sIFR.replace(futura, { selector: 'body.blue-txt h3', css: 'a {color: #009CDA; }, a:hover { color: #009CDA; text-decoration: underline; }' }); But that would have to be coded for every single text-color in my sIFR replacements in both JS and CSS. So I would want to make the sIFR.useStyleCheck setting just respect the CSS in sifr-config.css like: body.blue-txt h3{ color: #009CDA; } body.blue-txt h3 a{ color: #009CDA; } body.blue-txt h3 a:hover{ color: #009CDA; text-decoration: underline; } Only this doesn't seem to work ... the link text keeps popping up as #0000FF and the hover is not underlined. Is this just Not A Feature (Yet), or am doing something wrong?

  • JQUERY CYCLE - Can I add page links to anchors assigned to Cycle's pager?

    - by christianDuncan
Hello everyone. Seems I've outdone myself. All the while I was creating this pretty little 'latest news' widget that fades on mouseover of each anchor. Then my colleague says, "Hey, Chris, these links don't work" ...oops. I would like to find out if I can have these anchors take the user to the relvent page on click. Currently Cycle is set to do its hocus pocus on mouseover. This is my Cycle code: $('#newsSlider .slides ul').cycle({ fx: 'fade', speed: 1000, timeout: 0, pager: '.slides-nav', pagerEvent: 'mouseover', pagerAnchorBuilder: function(idx, slide) { // return sel string for existing anchor return '.slides-nav li:eq(' + (idx) + ') a'; } And here is the dev site: http://slg-development.co.uk/Gradient_12859/ Any help would be hugely appriciated. Thanks everyone! Christian

  • JSP load external php not using iFrames

    - by Rudiger
I have a bit of an issue with a site I maintain. I have been asked to add a report to a page that sits in a jsp page. The reporting information comes from a MySQL database. The problem is to connect the jsp to the database would require added functions to code that I do not have the original source of. I thought about redoing all the db connection again but thats a lot of time for something that will probably be rewritten in 3 weeks. Then I thought of just using PHP to display the report in the jsp as I have other pages connecting to the database using php (long story as to why were are using 2 languages). But the only way I know of is by using iFrames which is a bit of a no no. Using the object tag I've seen also has errors in IE. What would be the best way to do this?
