  • How to turn off SSL on heroku

    I'm redirecting a domain to Heroku using a cname. Currently Its working but is giving me an ssl error. Is there a way to turn off ssl on heroku? Heres the SSL Error This is probably not the site you are looking for! You attempted to reach app.grewpr.com, but instead you actually reached a server i identifying itself as *.herokuapp.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration on the server or by something more serious. An attacker on your network could be trying to get you to visit a fake (and potentially harmful) version of app.grewpr.com. You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site. When I try to go to http://pure-chamber-1979.herokuapp.com/ it automatically redirects me to the ssl version. Is there a way to turn this off?

  • link_to syntax with rails3 (link_to_remote) and basic javascript not working in a rails3 app?

    i am wondering if the basic link_to syntax is completely broken in current rails3 master or if i am doing some wrong syntax here. = link_to "name", nil, :onlick => "alert('Hello world!');" should actually produce an alert on click. very simple. does not work on my rails3 project! (also no error output!) any ideas? for the general link_to syntax i could not find an example where i could combine a link_to_remote with a confirmation, remote and html class (see my try below) = link_to "delete", {:action => "destroy", :remote => true, :method => :delete, :confirm => "#{a.title} wirklich L&ouml;schen?" }, :class => "trash" even the rails3 api does not help me here: http://rails3api.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html help!

  • Rails3 - will_paginate plugin strange output

    I have the will_paginate plugin working in an application, but when I paginate a resource it just spits out the HTML as text, doesn't provide links to the next pages and such. And when I manually type in the URL the plugin is working it just doesn't make <%= will_paginate @products %> into links such as next 1 2 3 ... last Ideas?

In my Image model, I have: class Image < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :image, :styles => { :display => "500x500>", :thumbnail => "95x95>"} Then in my Views, my form contains this: -form_for @image, :html => { :multipart => true } do |image| %tr %td.woc_left =label_tag :image, 'photo to upload', :class => 'required' %td.woc_center =image.file_field :image In my Mysql table, I have a column called "image_file_name" (string). However, when I try to upload an image and submit it, I see 2 errors prohibited this from being saved There were problems with the following fields: Image Paperclip::CommandNotFoundError Image Paperclip::CommandNotFoundError What am I doing wrong? It's not in a form, and I can't find a way to serialize it to move onto setting up the AJAX update.

  • Two part form in Rails

    I have some two nested resources, so that a Product can have many Bookings. On one page in a different controller I want to create a new booking and since it's a "general" booking I want a select menu to appear in a modal window where the user is able to pick one of the existing products and then go to the booking page. How can I do this? I have no problem setting up the modal and the "New booking" page is already there. What I need is a form that generates a list of existing products, picks the selected product id and then gets /products/:product_id/bookings/new . Any help appreciated! I realize my title does not describe my problem very good so better suggestions are highly welcome!

I get the menuname in the routes.rb and it's call the static controller show method. match '/:menuname' = 'static#show' And static_controller.rb: @static=Staticpage.where("menuname = ?", params[:menuname]) But if I want print @static.title in the view, I get this error: undefined method `title' for # Whats wrong? the SQL query looks good: SELECT staticpages.* FROM staticpages WHERE (menuname = 'asd')

    Hi, I've been going through the Rails Guides, but have gotten stuck on associations after going through validations and migrations. So, I have the following models Job and Person, where a Person can have many jobs.     I have the following relation in my rails app: genre - has many - authors authors - belong to genre and has many books books - belongs to authors and belongs to users (users can add books to the db) in my controller I have: @books=current_user.books(:include => [:author => :genre], :order => 'books.created_at DESC')--- -- In my controller I used to have: @authors = Author.All @genres = Genre.All etc. -- In my view I have @genres.each do |genre| @authors.each do |author| if author.genre_id == genre.id stuff end end end Now that I'm using eager loading, I can't imagine this is the best way to do this (nor does it work as I don't have the @ variables) - I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how to approach this?

    Hi, when I do the following def somefunction @texts = A.find_all_by_someid(someid) respond_to do |format| format.xml { render :xml => @texts } end end it gets the string from the db correctly, except if the string has leading whitespaces, it seems they are trimmed. Note: the whitespaces are there in the db correctly What can I do to conserve those whitespaces? Thanks

    Hello, i have some issue with database. Okay, i have two models - Page and Item. Page for displaying some content. Item - this is item discription. So, i work on small ecommerce shop. Okay, all of this models can have some comments. So, this is my Comments model at this moment: Comments - string : id text : body integer : page_id integer : item_id So when some one add comment to page - page_id will be filled with current Page id. And if some one add comment to item - item_id will be filled. Okay, i know what the best way is to create STI or Polymorphic assoc, but does i really need this way for my situation?   • Expanding a row in a div-based table

    I have a stack of <div> elements that show a name. I'd like to include a + link off to the side that, when clicked, expands the <div> and adds more detailed information (from a RoR controller). After poking around on the net, I found link_to_remote and related RoR stuff, but I can't seem to get the right combination to work together. Can someone point me to a tutorial or show what the controller and view interaction should look like? Thanks!

    Hi, I have had my new rails program up for a few days now. I'm running it on Ubuntu 10.4 with apache2 in another location than the website it's made for (it's a standalone database application for physiotherapists). The people I made it for now want me to deploy it to the public part of their website, only with one change. Those who open it via the link in the public-part should not be able to click one button! I was thinking of doing something like this in my view: <% if session[:inside]%> <%=button_to 'Sækja mælitæki', @link_to_mt%> <%end%> How could I set session[:inside] only to true if the program was started from within the private part of the webpage? I thought of creating two new actions, the other would set session[:inside] to true and the other to false, but that seems to me like a security risk, is it not? BR, Sindri

    Hi, I am using Oracle as database for my Rails applications and have got some pretty intense tables. I'm trying to find the particular entries using a query like this Author.all( :conditions => { :name => names } ) I have been working SQlite all along and just migrated to Oracle which complains that IN clause has more than 1000 entries. Obvious workaround would be to break it into subclauses for which I need to write some raw sql queries. Is there anything in Rails that facilitate this?

    I'm building a Rails app backed by mongodb using mongoid. It's a one page app, with a HTML table, every field for every row of which, needs to be editable without refreshing the page. This is your usual Rails view ( like many in rails casts ) showing a table with rows and columns containing data. For example. I'm showing cars, and showing their make, model and notes They way I'm doing this is by appending _id of a mongo document to every column and marking it's field name in html id too. Then I pick up the value for $("#id") and send it to rails controller via AJAX and run @car.update_attributes method accordingly. Currently, one of my rows looks like this. <tr> <td id=<%= car.id %>_make> <%= car.make %> </td> <td id=<%= car.id %>_model> <%= car.model %> </td> <td id=<%= car.id %>_notes> <%= car.notes %> </td> </tr> // my function which is called onChange for every column function update_attributes(id){ var id = id.split[0]; var attribute = id.split[1]; $.ajax("sending id and attribute to rails controller"); } Is there any built it Rails magic which would let me update only a field in a model without refreshing the page? or.     Hi All, I am new to web development, and trying to get a hold on security issues. I went through this article on http://guides.rubyonrails.org/security.html these are some of the steps the author has mentioned how an attacker fixes session. 1. The attacker creates a valid session id: He loads the login page of the web application where he wants to fix the session, and takes the session id in the cookie from the response (see number 1 and 2 in the image). 2. He possibly maintains the session. Expiring sessions, for example every 20 minutes, greatly reduces the time-frame for attack. Therefore he accesses the web application from time to time in order to keep the session alive. 3. Now the attacker will force the user’s browser into using this session id (see number 3 in the image). As you may not change a cookie of another domain (because of the same origin policy), the attacker has to run a JavaScript from the domain of the target web application. Injecting the JavaScript code into the application by XSS accomplishes this attack. Here is an example: <script>?document.cookie="_session_id=16d5b78abb28e3d6206b60f22a03c8d9";?</script>. Read more about XSS and injection later on. 4. The attacker lures the victim to the infected page with the JavaScript code. By viewing the page, the victim’s browser will change the session id to the trap session id. 5. As the new trap session is unused, the web application will require the user to authenticate. 6. From now on, the victim and the attacker will co-use the web application with the same session: The session became valid and the victim didn’t notice the attack. I dont understand couple of points. i) why is user made to login in step5, since session is sent through. ii) I saw possible solutions on wiki, like user properties check and others why cant we just reset the session for the user whoever is login in when they enter username and password in step5? I have a few records for example, one with "another time test" and another with "last test of time" if i search "test" the first comes up but the second doesn't, and if i search "time" the second comes up but not the first. It is only seeing the last word of the record. what gives?

  • rails route question

    I am trying to build a search functionality which at a high level works like this. 1 - I have a Search model, controller with a search_set action and search views/partial to render the search. 2 - At the home page a serach form is loaded with an empty search object or a search object initialized with session[:search] (which contains user search preferences, zip code, proximity, sort order, per page etc). This form has a post(:put) action to search_set. 3 - When a registered user performs a set the params of the search form are collected and a search record is saved against that user. If a unregistered user performs a search then the search set action simply stores the params in the session[:search]. In either case, the search is executed with the given params and the results are displayed. At this point the url of in the location bar is something like.. http://localhost:3000/searches/search_set?stype=1 At this point if the user simply hits enter on the location bar, I get an error that says "No action responded to show" I am guessing because the URL contains search_set which uses a put method and even though I have a search_show (:get) action (which simply reruns the search in the session or saved in the database) does not get called. How can I handle this situation where I can route a user hitting enter into the location bar to a get method? If this does not explain the problem , please let me know I can share more details/code etc. Thanks!
