  I have problem with customizing each page using pagecontrol and UIScrollView. I'm customizing Page Control from Apple. Basically I would like to have each page different with text and image alternately on different page. Page 1 will have all text, Page 2 will have just images, Page 3 will have all text and goes on.   I'm new to T-SQL; all my experience is in a completely different database environment (Openedge). I've learned enough to write the procedure below -- but also enough to know that I don't know enough! This routine will have to go into a live environment soon, and it works, but I'm quite certain there are a number of c**k-ups and gotchas in it that I know nothing about. The routine copies data from table A to table B, replacing the data in table B. The tables could be in any database. I plan to call this routine multiple times from another stored procedure. Permissions aren't a problem: the routine will be run by the dba as a timed job. Could I have your suggestions as to how to make it fit best-practice? To bullet-proof it?   I'm trying to generate some C# code using xslt - its working great until I get to generics and need to output some text like this: MyClass<Type> In this case I've found that the only way to emit this is to do the following: MyClass<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text>Type<xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&gt;</xsl:text> Where: Often it all needs to go on one line, otherwise you end up with line breaks in the generated code In the above example I technically could have used only 1 <xsl:text />, however usually the type Type is given by some other template, e.g: <xsl:value-of select="@type" /> I don't mind having to write &lt; a lot, but I would like to avoid writing <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&lt;</xsl:text> for just a single character! Is there any way of doing disable-output-escaping="yes" for the entire document?

  What is the best way to limit the amount of text that a user can enter into a 'textarea' field on a web page? The application in question is ASP .NET, but a platform agnostic answer is preferred. I understand that some amount of javascript is likely needed to get this done as I do not wish to actually perform the 'post' with that amount of data if possible as ASP .NET does have an upper limit to the size of the request that it will service (though I don't know what that is exactly). So maybe the real question is, what's the best way to do this in javascript that will meet the following criteria: -Must work equally well for both users simply typing data and copy/paste'ing data in from another source. -Must be as '508 compliance' friendly as possible.

The idea is that as I update the file, the version changes and I want this to be reflected across my site. • Can I flip the coordinate system without flipping text in iTextSharp?

  I have some chart-creating code written for a coordinate system in which a y-coordinate of 0 is the top of the page. We are now converting to iTextSharp, which uses the conventional system from mathematics where a y-coordinate of 0 is the bottom of the page. There are many calculations involved in producing the chart and I'd like to not mess with those calculations. I can partially "fix" the problem by transforming iTextSharp's coordinate system like this: pdfContentByte.ConcatCTM(1f, 0f, 0f, -1f, 0f, pdfDoc.PageSize.Height); This works great for lines, rectangles, and circles, but the text is now upside down! Is there a way to remedy this, using SetTextMatrix or otherwise?

  I am looking for a scripting (or higher level programming) language (or e.g. modules for Python or similar languages) for effortlessly analyzing and manipulating binary data in files (e.g. core dumps), much like Perl allows manipulating text files very smoothly. Things I want to do include presenting arbitrary chunks of the data in various forms (binary, decimal, hex), convert data from one endianess to another, etc. That is, things you normally would use C or assembly for, but I'm looking for a language which allows for writing tiny pieces of code for highly specific, one-time purposes very quickly. Any suggestions?

• How can I pass a dynamic backing bean into a JSF 2.0 page using facelets?

  Hi, I am using a JSF 2.0 to create a web app (purely jee6, without spring/seam etc.). I would like to have a single xhtml page but pass the proper backing bean / entity into it. For example, I would like to be able to edit a user other than the logged in user, I have a user edit page which displays the information of the logged in user (being tracked by my session), I would like to instead pass in a user selected from a list and edit that user's information, without switching the user that is stored in the session or creating a separate xhtml page (violating DRY). The "best" way I can see to achieve this would be to reuse the exact same xhtml page that I am using to display the logged-in-user's edit page, but simply pass in a different entity in some way. Perhaps calling the setter in the backing bean before redirecting to the page (if this is even possible) or some other solution that does not violate DRY. Perhaps I have designed this all wrong, is there a way to pass in entities to JSF pages? thanks.

  Hi All. I've a VS2008 native C++ project, that I wish to compile as a DLL. It only references one external library (log4cplus.lib), and uses its functions. (also uses log4cplus's .h files , naturally). When I try to compile my project as a static library, it succeeeds. When I try as DLL, it fails : 1>MessageWriter.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: static class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl log4cplus::Logger::getInstance(class std::basic_string<wchar_t,struct std::char_traits<wchar_t>,class std::allocator<wchar_t> > const &)" (?getInstance@Logger@log4cplus@@SA?AV12@ABV?$basic_string@_WU?$char_traits@_W@std@@V?$allocator@_W@2@@std@@@Z) referenced in function "class log4cplus::Logger __cdecl Log(void)" (?Log@@YA?AVLogger@log4cplus@@XZ) There are 4 more errors just like this related to functions within log4cplus.lib.   I'm attempting to override and implement my own TabExpansion. In the function I want to parse the contents of $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text when a certain $lastword criteria is matched. The issue I have is that the variable $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text is resolved to the contents of my TabExpansion function rather than whatever text is in a PowerShell ISE tab. Here's simple test function. Open an ISE tab and paste the following tabexpansion function definition: function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Run the script in ISE. Next open another tab in ISE type some text and press the tab key The output will be function tabexpansion { $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text } Rather than whatever text was in the second tab. Is there any way to get $psise.CurrentFile.Editor.Text to resolve at runtime when used within a tabexpansion function?

  Hi all, I have an .aspx page in which I dynamically add web controls to a panel. The problem is when I hit the browser's back buton, it's displayed a version of the page that no longer exists on the server-side, because the controls are dynamically added. Let's say my aspx dynamically adds Control1. From there, I click a button that loads Control2. At this moment, if I press the browser's back button, it will display the page with Control1, but Control1 no longer exists on the server-side, so if I interact with it, some erractic behaviour will occur. Any ideas on this? Thank you very much.

• Windows Server 2008 R2 network adapter stops working, requires hard reboot

  TL;DR version: Turns out this was a Windows Server 2008 R2 kernel networking bug. After siccing Microsoft support on it, we (eventually) got an unpublished kernel hotfix from Microsoft to address it. If you, too, are experiencing mysterious low-level network driver failures requiring a reboot/bluescreen cycle, you might want that hotfix (or maybe Service Pack 1 whenever it is released, too.) We have been using HAProxy along with heartbeat from the Linux-HA project. We are using two linux instances to provide a failover. Each server has with their own public IP and a single IP which is shared between the two using a virtual interface (eth1:1) at IP: 69.59.196.211 The virtual interface (eth1:1) IP 69.59.196.211 is configured as the gateway for the windows servers behind them and we use ip_forwarding to route traffic. We are experiencing an occasional network outage on one of our windows servers behind our linux gateways. HAProxy will detect the server is offline which we can verify by remoting to the failed server and attempting to ping the gateway: Pinging 69.59.196.211 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 69.59.196.220: Destination host unreachable. Swapping network cards and switches I noticed the link light on the port of the switch for the failed windows server was running at 100Mb instead of 1Gb on the failed interface. I moved the cable to several other open ports and the link indicated 100Mb for each port that I tried. I also swapped the cable with the same result. I tried changing the properties of the network card in windows and the server locked up and required a hard reset after clicking apply. This windows server has two physical network interfaces so I have swapped the cables and network settings on the two interfaces to see if the problem follows the interface. If the public interface goes down again we will know that it is not an issue with the network card. (We also tried another switch we have on hand, no change) Changing network hardware driver versions We've had the same problem with the latest Broadcom driver, as well as the built-in driver that ships in Windows Server 2008 R2. Replacing network cables As a last ditch effort we remembered another change that occurred was the replacement of all of the patch cords between our servers / switch. We had purchased two sets, one green of lengths 1ft - 3ft for the private interfaces and another set of red cables for the public interfaces. We swapped out all of the public interface patch cables with a different brand and ran our servers without issue for a full week ... aaaaaand then the problem recurred. Disable checksum offload, remove TProxy We also tried disabling TCP/IP checksum offload in the driver, no change. We're now pulling out TProxy and moving to a more traditional x-forwarded-for network arrangement without any fancy IP address rewriting. We'll see if that helps. Switch Virtualization providers On the off chance this was related to Hyper-V in some way (we do host Linux VMs on it), we switched to VMWare Server. No change. Switch host model We've reached the end of our troubleshooting rope and are now formally involving Microsoft support.
