There is a serious problem with one of my servers time.
At some random hours (5:59 localtime in the following example) it goes 1 hour back and keeps doing this again and again next times it reaches 5:59. Like this: 5:59-4:59 … 5:59- 4:59 and so on. It stays in the loop until I manually update its time.
The server OS is Windows 2008 R2 Standard x64, acting as a standalone web server on the internet. time zone (UTC-05:00).

Any idea about what’s going on?

Does anyone know of a application that allows you to create torrent files via the command-line in Windows?
Update: I need a command-line version because I'm a programmer. I need to create the torrent programmatically, I can't have a window pop-up. There's a ton of uses for command-line torrent creation and I think it's very strange that I havent found a command line version from my hours of searching the Internet.
I had a dns forwarder configured that seems to be choking on a particular server name so I switched to using google's dns as a forwarder (8.8.4.4). When I change that setting in Windows DNS (Server 2008 R2) Do i need to restart the dns service for the change to take effect?
I ask because i can do a nslookup on the name using 8.8.4.4 and it resolves but even with 8.8.4.4 in my forwarders list it will not resolve when i run nslookup on my local DNS server.
While attempting to install .NET 3.5 SP1 on a fresh install of Windows 7 RC, nothing happens. The machine gives a UAC prompt. When selecting Yes, nothing happens.
Using the full redistributable package gives the same result: nothing.
Is there a reason why the .NET 3.5 SP1 installer would suddenly quit and not proceed with installation?
I recently purchased one of those new wave of point & shoot digicams (canon SD780) that shoot high definition 720p video.
Unfortunately it only writes to Quicktime files.
How can I go about editing these in Windows without spending any money? I found a few MOV to AVI or WMV converters but am experiencing some quality degradation in the output.
I need a windows 2003 hosted server for various websites that I develop and host. Any suggestions on a good deal out there?
I need full root access to IIS 6/7 and to be able to host multiple websites using host headers.
Thanks
I'm looking for a tool that will allow me to see all of the memory used by by Windows XP/2003 machine. I know that Process Explorer and others will show you what memory is being used by each process, but I need a full graphical view of all used and unused memory on my machine. I have seen an app that does this but cannot remember the name. Anyone know of a tool like this?
I want to use WMP to listen to music, but at the same time I'm sorting out some videos etc that I want to quickly preview in WMP. Is it possible to open another 'instance' of WMP without cutting off my music?

I know I can assign different wallpaper for each monitor that is connected to my computer in Windows 8(by right clicking and selecting "set for monitor 1,2,etc"), but I don't know how to assign different wallpaper slideshow or different theme for each monitor. Can anyone tell me how to do that? It is quite interesting to see different wallpapers on different monitors, but seeing static wallpaper on each of those monitors is no fun. thanks
I'm currently running my jsp pages on a windows 2003 server, apache tomcat 5.5 setup. My process involved is as follows:
make change to .java file
compile .java file
restart apache tomcat service
refresh browser
check c:\program files\apache software foundation\tomcat 5.5\logs
This is beyond cumbersome. Is there a better development platform to develop jsp pages which makes life alot easier?
thanks in advance
Saving an Excel or Word 2007 file to a network share is very slow in Office 2007. It might take as long as two minutes two save a 100kb file. What could be causing this?
The network share is hosted on a Windows 2003 server.
in windows 2003 server we have built in option to SYNC my documents, desktop, application data ... folders from client computers to server.
i am looking for some login script to to SYNC one special folder/Folders from Client computer to Server.
Thanks
The Windows 7 menu item highlight effect is quite subtle - on my machine, menu items go from light grey to having a light blue shading. This makes it quite hard to tell at a glance which exact menu item is highlighted at any one time. You can see an example (from Firefox) here:
Is there an easy way to increase the contrast of the menu item highlight effect, without having to go all-out to an over the top high-contrast color scheme?
I have a windows 7 x64 laptop, and every time I reboot all icons on my desktop are missing. I can get them back by right clicking on the desktop and selecting View - Show Desktop Icons, but I'd prefer they stayed on.
Is there a setting or known problem I should be looking at to fix this?
I would like to reskin Windows 7. I have bought Window Blinds, but I am looking for clean and simplistic Skins, Window Blind Skins are extremely pimped out.
Are there any alternative to Window Blinds?
Thanks

So how can I tell if this is faulty memory or some other hardware problem?
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S250.
I upgraded my Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM) and after that it doesn't wake up from sleep.
When I power it on it turns on but nothing happens, but if I press the reset button it boots and then wakes up, I mean, it doesn't reboot Win 7, it actually wakes up.
Anyone have any clue about such a weird behaviour?
It always worked fine on Vista. I have a GForce 8600 with the latest drivers.
I just got an ASUS 1005HA and immediately upgraded it to 2GB of RAM. However, when I open up the Windows System Dialog, it says their is only .99GB of RAM. CPU-Z sees the whole 2GB though. Anybody know what's going on here?
EDIT: The BIOS also reports the correct amount of memory in the system.
I'm looking to downgrade the version of windows 7 I have installed on my machine from Ultimate to Professional. I installed from and ISO I got off the MSDN but have just found out that I'm supposed to be using a retail licence on my machine. We've only got retail licences for Professional and I don't want to use and up the MSDN Licenses we have.
Is there a way to do this?
Sometimes you may open a program that you want to run as an administrator, but you may already have opened it not as an administrator. Is it possible to elevate the priviledges of an already running program in Windows 7 or do I have to close and restart as admin?
