• Setting an empty default value for a char-column in MySQL?

  Hi In phpMyAdmin I have a char(32) column that has no default value(ie. Default: None). When I try to insert data through a SQL query, it throws out an error saying that the column "doesn't have a default value". I need it to be empty, so instead I've just set it's default value as "As defined: " and then nothing in the value field. Is this a bad idea? And is it any better than simply throwing in an empty value for the column in the SQL query? Thanks for your time.

  I am using djcelery 2.1.4 with ghettoq 0.4.5 and django 1.2.3 and I am able to run tasks all day long, but when I try to use any broadcast functionality it fails without errors. Take the simplest case -- I run celeryd: python manage.py celeryd The daemon starts and I try to run a ping: >>> from celery.task.control import ping >>> ping() [] I can see the message that ping created appear in the database, but apparently none of the nodes are picking it up? Am I doing something wrong here? Does broadcast not work with carrot?

Or is this a praw limitation?

  Hi there, I learned that when executing commands in Python, I should use subprocess. What I'm trying to achieve is to encode a file via ffmpeg and observe the program output until the file is done. Ffmpeg logs the progress to stderr. If I try something like this: child = subprocess.Popen(command, shell=True, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) complete = False while not complete: stderr = child.communicate() # Get progress print "Progress here later" if child.poll() is not None: complete = True time.sleep(2) the programm does not continue after calling child.communicate() and waits for the command to complete. The two errors are: - return outside method definition - method main has return statement; needs result type I know find() would be better in this case, i am just learning and exploring the language.   I have an application with a central DataTier that can execute a query to a data table using an SQLDataAdapter. None of this code has changed but now all queries are taking at least 10x as long to execute a query returning even one record. The only difference is that I have been using the app in a VM but the issue has started mid way through using the application. eg, the speed issue has not manifested itself from the start of using the VM, rather half way through. Has anyone else had an issue with the SQL Data Adapter taking a long time to fill for no reason? executing the query in Management studio it runs in less than a second. Firewalls are disabled

  Hi, I write applications for Windowe ME and CE in C# .NET 2.0. Sometimes I’ve got problems because applications don’t work on some navigation devices. On Windowe ME it is not problem because .NET can be installed from a cab, but on most Windows CE devices it is impossible because after soft reset all changes disappear. I found out that in most difficult cases good solution is to put all dll-s belonging to .NET installation cab in the folder where the application runs and everything work well. However there are some devices for example Navroad NR460 (Windows CE 5.0) on which none of .NET applications work (it is funny because previous and next version of that navigation works well). I didn’t found on this device cgacutil.exe program. Is this possible to force the device to run any .NET application without installing the Windows again? What should I try to do to check if running .NET a applications is possible? What conditions should be fulfilled to run easiest application written even in .NET 1.0

  Have HTML pages with many sections and each section has a section title displayed as an image (to use nice font). The problem is that even if I specify an 'alt' and 'title' text on each image/title the Ctrl+F browser functionality does not find the text. Thought two possible solutions but not very happy about them 1) Use embed fonts. Problem: Can not find the font required by client to use and not sure about copyrights. 2) Have the text in the image in DIV near the image but hidden from user view. The base page handler gets the current user, and creates a login/logout url appropriately.   Hi, I have this RichTextBox and I have embedded some http links in it. I have set DetectUrls = true, and it displays the links correctly and handles in the event. In the same RichTextBox, I have one more string displayed which looks like this Type http://< Your host name Now, since DetectUrls= true, the portion "http://<" is displayed as a link, while I want this to be text. If I set the DetectUrls=false just before displaying this string, none of the other links are displayed as links. Is there a way to partially set DetectUrls for some strings and not for others?
