I want to debug a javascript file that is embedded in the HEAD element.
I navigate to the site, see the code, and make a breakpoint:
But when I click on Reload, the script disappears and it doesn't stop at the breakpoint:
Debugging was working earlier so I know it works in general. What do I have to do so that Firebug always debugs my script?
I'm looking to create a custom date picker with code examples from several sources.
Is the code to display/hide an ASP.NET control when a user clicks a button usually done with JavaScript or ASP.NET code?
Please provide a simple example. (If ASP.NET, VB example preferred over C#)

Hi
What is the recommended way to transfer files via FTP and manage (rename, move, delete) files in an FTP server programmatically in a Windows Scripting Host script file (JavaScript/VBScript)? Preferably without requiring 3rd party ActiveX add-ons since these "extra" software will need to go through an approval process that will take a very long time, even for free (as in beer) and/or open source components.
The script is going to be run in a Windows 2003 Server in data center environment.
Thanks.
I'm searching to select a text from a div, then click on a bookmarklet that remove all html parts in the body except the div where the text is selected
maybe jquery can help with something like :
javascript:var%20s=document.createElement('script');s.setAttribute('src',%20'http://jquery.com/src/jquery-latest.js');document.body.appendChild(s);s.onload=function(){/*the code*/};void(s);
What bad things happen at the moment document.write() is invoked?
I've heard bits and peices about document.write having an adverse impact on the DOM or on the use of Javascript libraries. I have an issue in front of me that I suspect is related, but have not been able to find a concise summary of what damage the method does.
I am just a designer and don't know javascript well enough to figure out how to print a full content of a JScrollPane, not a visible part of it.
I would very much appreciate any help with the issue.
Thanks!
Im trying to close a child window with javascript and in firefox everything works fine but in chrome the window doesnt close
here is what im using
$(document).ready(function() {
if (window.opener && !window.opener.closed)
window.opener.location = "http://www.website.com"
window.close();
});
I tried a suggestion on google, but to no avail.
Anyone having a similar issue or know of a work-around?
Hey,
What's the easiest way to perform an FQL query from an ASP.NET application? Do I have to download the Facebook Developer Toolkit (which I only want to use as a last resort), or is there an easier way (maybe through javascript)? I'm not doing any heavy queries if that makes a difference. (I simply want to get the user's profile picture URL from my site. It might not even need FQL?)
Thanks for any suggestions
In javascript on a browser, I can do this to see if an object is DOM-related:
obj instanceof Node
How do I accomplish this with google desktop? Node is undefined, and this doesn't work either:
obj instanceof basicElement
in javascript, how to make alert bold n use h1 to h5 headers? Is this possible or simply plain alert is option?
how to include bold and h1 to this alert?

I have a set of data in one JSON structure:
[[task1, 10, 99],
[task2, 10, 99],
[task3, 10, 99],
[task1, 11, 99],
[task2, 11, 99],
[task3, 11, 99]]
and need to convert it to another JSON structure:
[{
label: "task1",
data: [[10, 99], [11, 99]]
},
{
label: "task2",
data: [[10, 99], [11, 99]]
},
{
label: "task3",
data: [[10, 99], [11, 99]]
}]
What's the best way to do this with javascript/java?
I would like to create an xml based website. I want to use xml files as datasources since it is a kind of online directory site. Can someone please give me a starting point? Are there any good online resources that I can refer to? I am pretty confortable with ASP and Javascript. Thank you in advance.
Best regards,

Does anyone have a no JavaScript way to make HTML radio buttons belonging to the same "group" have different "name" attributes?
While I figure there isn't any way, I'm working on a site which needs to still be function when JS is off, and this would be ideal.
I am looking for an online photo editor like http://services.snipshot.com (Javascript) or picnik.com/info/api (Flash) but I need one that I can host on my own server.. been searching for a while but no results.. any ideas?
I also love the idea behind pixenate.com/productinfo/Overview.html but its so expensive.
When putting code samples in my blog I would like the code to have all the appropriate colours. How can I do that?
Basically if I write:
foreach (ListItem item in items)
{
item.Text = "something";
}
I want it to appear in the correct colours like it does in my Visual Studio or here at stack*overflow*.
I'm bored of styling the colours of each key word manually. Is there a pre-existing javascript library I can use?
I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. I want to make a few minor changes to the default sam skin. What is the best way to do that?
Also, how does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css?).
This is how I'm loading the CSS and JS now:
<head>
...
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://yui.yahooapis.com/combo?3.1.0/build/cssreset/reset.css&3.1.0/build/cssfonts/fonts.css&3.1.0/build/cssbase/base.css"/>
...
</head>
...
<!--and at the end of the body tag:-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://yui.yahooapis.com/combo?3.1.1/build/yui/yui-min.js&3.1.1/build/oop/oop-min.js&3.1.1/build/event-custom/event-custom-base-min.js&3.1.1/build/event/event-base-min.js&3.1.1/build/json/json-parse-min.js&3.1.1/build/querystring/querystring-stringify-simple-min.js&3.1.1/build/io/io-base-min.js&3.1.1/build/dom/dom-base-min.js&3.1.1/build/dom/selector-native-min.js&3.1.1/build/dom/selector-css2-min.js&3.1.1/build/node/node-base-min.js&3.1.1/build/node/node-style-min.js&3.1.1/build/stylesheet/stylesheet-min.js&2in3.1/2.8.0/build/yui2-calendar/yui2-calendar-min.js&2in3.1/2.8.0/build/yui2-yahoo/yui2-yahoo-min.js&2in3.1/2.8.0/build/yui2-dom/yui2-dom-min.js&2in3.1/2.8.0/build/yui2-event/yui2-event-min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">//<![CDATA[
YUI().use('yui2-calendar', function(Y) {
var YAHOO = Y.YUI2;
var cal = new YAHOO.widget.Calendar("cal",{navigator:true,mindate:'1/1/2000');
cal.render();
// ...
The main problem I'm having is that it seems to dynamically load the Sam's skin, so any CSS I specify in my stylesheet or in the <head> section seem to be overridden. I can modify the style by getting the nodes and using YUI's Node.setStyle() method, but this doesn't seem like the best way to do things.
Note: The script does include more than I need for just YUI 2's calendar, but that's because I use YUI 3 for other things irrelevant to this question.
I have created simple javascript widget where login happens using Facebook Single Sign On. It logins the person whenever he is logged in to facebook (after authorization for the first time). However, it also logs out the user when Facebook logout happens. I want the person to not get logged out when the person logs out of Facebook?
Suggest me what is the way around.
Hi Everyone.
I want to create a JavaScript based box much like the one found on MSN or AOL with the navigational buttons. Box content must be spider-able by search engines.
On MSN you can find the box near top left corner. Note this box contains links and images.
Any idea how to implement this ?
Thanks.
Does anyone know of a good Job scheduler UI widget?
The ideal component would be a Javascript widget (hopefully JQuery) that allows a user to select a frequency which is converted to a cron expression.
Anything good out there?
I am using jquery corners javascript library to make the corners of a div rounded. It works fine, But if i specify a body background image/color or grident background color, corners are still white. How can i make these corners transparent?
