  • How to convert floats to human-readable fractions?

    - by Swaroop C H
Let's say we have 0.33, we need to output "1/3". If we have "0.4", we need to output "2/5". The idea is to make it human-readable to make the user understand "x parts out of y" as a better way of understanding data. I know that percentages is a good substitute but I was wondering if there was a simple way to do this?

    - by Fidel
Hello, I've got an existing asp.net project written in vb.net. Another person has written a user control in c#. Could you please let me know the steps for adding that C# user control to the vb.net app? I've tried copying them to the folder and using "Add existing item", however it doesn't compile the code behind at all. Thanks, Fidel

  • Accessibility and usability issues when designing websites for older computer users

    - by Vafello
As a part of my final year university project I am designing a social networking website targeted mainly to older users. I was wondering what accessibility and usability issues should be taken into account when creating a website for such users, apart from obvious ones - such as bigger font, compatibility with current standards, straight-forward interface. Or maybe an older user is just the same as an average user and no special design is needed? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

    - by WtFudgE
Hi, I am creating an ASP.NET page where I need a couple of variables which hold pathnames and a chosen language etc... Not that many, let's say about 5. Should I use session variables for this? Atm I'm using public static variables but I'm not sure if this is the right way to do this. Any thoughts? Thx

  • C syntax or binary optimized syntax?

    - by Dpp
Let's take an simple example of two lines supposedly doing the same thing: if (value = 96 || value < 0) ... or if (value & ~ 95) ... Say 'If's are costly in a loop of thousands of iterations, is it better to keep with the traditional C syntax or better to find a binary optimized one if possible?

I am using jQuery's cycle plugin, and found that I can call up the default for "speed" by typing this into Firebug's console: $.fn.cycle.defaults.speed 1000 I would like to know how to call up the override I have for speed: $('.xxx').cycle({ speed: 1700 }); If you have the answer, please let me know the steps taken to figure it out so I can understand Firebug better. Thanks a bunch!

  • SQL: convert tokens in a string or elements of an array into rows of a table

    - by slowpoison
Is there a simple way in SQL to convert a string or an array to rows of a table? For example, let's stay the string is 'a,b,c,d,e,f,g'. I'd prefer an SQL statement that takes that string, splits it at commas and inserts the resulting strings into a table. In PostgreSQL I can use regexp_split_to_array() and split the string into an array. So, if you know a way to insert an array's elements as rows into a table, that would work too.

  • IIS5 to IIS6 upgrade, and the bin folder

    - by NickLarsen
We had a website running under IIS5 which used the bin directory as a housing for some asp pages as well as files for download and after upgrading to IIS6, we only get a 404 error when trying to access anything in that folder. We do not store any sensitive information in there, or code, and it would require a major overhaul of not only our system, but our clients' systems as well. Is there some configuration setting we are overlooking or is it just that IIS6 will no longer let you use the bin folder as just another directory?

  • Can one instance of a WCF service pass work on to another instance where this 2nd instance would rep

    - by Matt
Let's say I have 2 instances of the same web services. Is there a way that I can have the second instance of the web service perform a task at the behest of the first instance of the WCF service and reply directly to the original requester? I could code this and include logic in WCF-A to contact WCF-B under the right conditions and then passback the result, but returning to the requester directly from WCF-B would be easier. Also, I made a handy dandy chart.

  • F#: Recursive collect and filter over N-ary Tree

    - by RodYan
This is hurting my brain! I want to recurse over a tree structure and collect all instances that match some filter into one list. Here's a sample tree structure type Tree = | Node of int * Tree list Here's a test sample tree: let test = Node((1, [Node(2, [Node(3,[]); Node(3,[])]); Node(3,[])])) Collecting and filtering over nodes with and int value of 3 should give you output like this: [Node(3,[]);Node(3,[]);Node(3,[])]

  • How to iterate multiple enumerables in ruby?

    - by steenslag
    I know two arrays can be zipped and the result can be iterated with #each. But how do you do it with an unknown number of enumerables? Let's say anand = &w(1-0 0.5-0.5 0.5-0.5 1.0) carlsen = &w(0-1 0.5-0.5 0.5-0.5 1.0) kramnik = &w(0.5-0.5 0.5-0.5 0.5-0.5 1.0) players= [anand, carlsen, kramnik) #something smart players.each{|round|puts round} #first line should be "1-0 0-1 0.5-0.5"
