  • Why is my ipad's wireless so flakey?

    I'm the proud owner of a new IPad here in the UK. All is good, except for the wifi, which is a bit flakey. It connects fine to my Draytek router which is set for WPA/WPA2 and 56g only, displaying full signal strength. Then, after a few minutes, it goes down to minimum strength... And sometimes it goes back up again. A few times, it seems to loose connection completely, and needs to be turned off and on again. I've looked at the Apple support site, and have tried their recommendations (which are not really very relevant), but still nothing. I've tried setting the router to wpa2 only, and setting long-preamble. Right now, I guess I want to know if it's a hardware problem with my device and should be returned, or if it's a problem with all ipads which will be resolved. Guess I could take it back to the Mac genius bar, but I find those guys so incredibly pretentious and, frankly, rather useless, that i'd rather wait until I've exercised other options!

    I am trying to run 'make' on a module in User Mode Linux to install a simple makefile. Here is my make file: obj-m := hello.o KDIR := /lib/modules/$(shell uname -r)/build PWD := $(shell pwd) default: $(MAKE) -C $(KDIR) SUBDIRS=$(PWD) modules When I run this in User Mode Linux I get the following error: make[1]: Entering directory /lib/modules/2.6.28/build' make[1]: *** No rule to make targetmodules'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/lib/modules/2.6.28/build' make: * [default] Error 2 The problem is that no files are present under /lib/modules/. There's no directory for 2.6.28 or build. From what I've read, these should be symlinks to /usr/src, but under /usr/src, I don't see any files under that either.

  • Optimize php-fpm and varnish for a powerfull server

    My setup is: Intel® Core™ i7-2600 and RAM 16 GB DDR3 RAM varnish+nginx+php-fpm+apc for a not very heavy WordPress blog with W3 Total Cache and CDN My problem is that after 55 hits per second according to blitz.io varnish starts giving out timeouts. CPU usage at this time is hardly 1%. Free memory at all time remains 10GB+. I tried benchmarking php-fpm directly with result of 150hits/s without any timeouts. But after that the CPU usage goes 100% and it stops responding. Can you help me optimize it to handle more?     I have a class that looks like the following: Public Class Utilities Public Shared Function blah(userCode As String) As String 'doing some stuff End Function End Class I'm running FxCop 10 on it and it says: "Because type 'Utilities' contains only 'static' ( 'Shared' in Visual Basic) members, add a default private constructor to prevent the compiler from adding a default public constructor." Ok, you're right Mr. FxCop, I'll add a private constructor: Private Utilities() Now I'm having: "It appears that field 'Utilities.Utilities' is never used or is only ever assigned to. Use this field or remove it." Any ideas of what should I do to get rid of both warnings?

This link link text suggests that by default the "print" statement prints numbers to 10 significant figures, but that does not seem to be the case in my results. How are the number of significant digits/precision determined? Can someone shed some light on this for me. Thanks in advance for your time and patience.

  • Wordpress FORCE UPDATE of permalink settings

    I've been having issues on creating new wordpress blogs where I'm setting permalinks via script on theme activation. However, even though they appear to be correct when I check the permalink settings in WP, my new pages are throwing 404 errors. The only fix I've found is that I have to go back to permalink options and click "Save Changes", even though, according to the display, I've made no changes to need to save... I'm setting permalinks to /%postname%/ Here's how I'm doing it. if(get_option('permalink_structure')==""){update_option('permalink_structure', '/%postname%/');} That script gets run when my theme is activated. Any ideas why it only partially does the job?

    This has been a fairly long-standing problem for us with our Hudson installation, and searching around the Hudson Wiki / Issue Tracker hasn't yielded any insight to this. The question: Is it possible to set certain default values for a maven2 build in Hudson? For example, we want all our projects to run the "clean" goal before a build, we want all our builds to poll the SCM hourly, and we want all our builds to deploy to our maven repository on build success. Right now, we have to manually set these setting for every project individually, which can be rather time consuming as we have 30+ different projects all being managed by Hudson. This is especially annoying if we need to change a particular setting that will affect all projects (e.g. change the repository URL). Given that I couldn't find any mention of this on the Wiki or Issue Tracker leads me to believe that I'm missing something obvious, but I cannot find an answer on my own.

    I don't like to use IE for my system default web browser. but I do want to set IE as my browser in VS2010 because it works a little nicer for debugging and I like to develop to the lowest common denominator. (jab, lol)... anyhow, can I default to debugging against IE? I know in VS2008 you just had to "Browse With..." on an .aspx page. But that option doesn't exist in VS2010 RC. What gives?

In this case some workarounds are to simply inline the decltype(T() / U()), to give the point class a default constructor, or to use decltype on the full result expression, but I got this error while trying to simplify an error I was getting with a version of op_div that did not require a default constructor*, so I would rather fix my understanding of C++ rather than to just do what works.   • Linking buttion to jQuery through service

    I have a small problem that should be very easy to overcome. For some reason I cant work this out. So the problem is I cannot get a button to link to some jquery.     Driving me mad on a personal project; I know I've done this before but elsewhere and don't have the code. As far as I can see, I'm setting the parameter, I'm setting its value, the connection is open, yet when I try to fill the dataset I get the error 'Procedure or function expects parameter "@test" which was not supplied'. (This is obviously a simplified test! Same error on this or the real, rather longer code though.)   • iphone problem adding splashscreen

    hi all, i've a little problem, i've add a default.png in my app and it work. I've modify my file, delete file and reference and upload my new file. On my iphone the image does not appear, only some second of blackscreen and after my app start. In the simulator the splashscreen appear. I've try to delete my app on iphone, make a clean all and rebuild & install but nothing... I've try to make clean all, close xcode, delete default.png to my project directory (sometimes exist, sometimes no), open xcode, add my file and build & install on my iphone but nothing... Any ideas?

  • CakePHP Bake association problem

    I have only two tables in my database with a one-to-many relationship between them (user hasMany messages) and am trying to get basic CRUD functionality going. Bake detects the associations correctly and specifies them correctly inside the model classes, but in controllers and views it looks like Cake doesn't know anything about those associations -- I don't even get a select tag for user_id when I go add a new message. Has anyone come across this problem before? What can I be doing wrong?   • FormsAuthentication redirecting to login page when visiting root of website

    I wanted to use FormsAuthentication to secure my static files as well on my site, so I followed the instructions located here http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/244/how-to-take-advantage-of-the-iis7-integrated-pipeline/ under title "Enabling Forms Authentication for the Entire Application". Now though, when I try to visit the site by going directly to http://www.mysite.com I get redirected to http://www.mysite.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f instead of it using my DefaultDocument I have set. I can go to my default document by just visiting http://www.mysite.com/Home.aspx without any issues because it is set to allow anonymous access. Is there something I need to add into my web.config file to make iis7 allow anonymous access to the root? I tried adding with anonymous access but no such luck. Any help would be much appreciated. What I want: I want to automate this process using buildout. My buildout will execute this paster command, feed in my preconfigured values to the paster. I haven't found a recipe which can do this.     I can't resolve this issue, I found a similar question here but: setting the workbook to Manual calculation (alt-m-x-m or alt-t-oformulas) didn't work Setting editor options to disable: Auto syntax check & Background compile didn't work anybody have any idea how to fix this very annoying behaviour, I'm used to quickly pop up VBA (alt-f11), f7 to get into code and write some quick procedures there... and it's hard to get out of that habit, I don't want to write any office extension to just add a single quote to every cell in the range For Each rg In Selection rg = chr(39) & rg.value Next F5, done...
