  • How to make a phone call in android and comes back to my activity when call is done

    - by hap497
Hi, I am launching an activity to make a phone call, but when I pressed the 'end call' button, it does not go back to my activity. Can you please tell me how can I launch a call activity which comes back to me when 'End call' button is pressed? This is how I'm making the phone call: String url = "tel:3334444"; Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_CALL, Uri.parse(url)); Thank you.

  • Android/Eclipse: Creating multiple builds with different com identifiers.

    - by Dave
Hi, I have an app that requires two builds - one is a demo app, the other uses the same codebase but uses a flag to introduce different functionality. The identifier must be different each time (e.g. com.siteA.appA and com.siteB.appB). However it doesn't appear to be trivial to use the refactor functionality in Eclipse to change the com identifier - all references change apart from the "import com.siteA.appA.R" reference. Is there a way to create different builds with different com identifiers/app name within Eclipse? Thanks

  • how do you remove the navigation bar on Android?

    - by Thierry-Dimitri Roy
When I listen to a YouTube video fullscreen in landscape on my Galaxy Nexus, the navigation bar on the right disapear after a few seconds (the bar which contains the "back", "home" and "recent apps" buttons ). I want to do the same thing when a user watch a video in my app. What is the code to hide the navigation bar? [UPDATE] Here is the bar I want to hide. Not the title bar, nor the action bar. The navigation bar. (the bar which contains the "back", "home" and "recent apps" buttons ). I also don't want to "dim" the buttons. I'm looking into removing the bar entirely (like the YouTube app does when you plan a video fullscreen in landscape mode)

  • Getting repeat values after copying 2-3 items to clipboard in android?

    - by Gurpreet singh
I am using clipboard code like below in my app.Everything is working fine if i copy one item at a time. But when we copy 2-3 items one after other and paste somewhere it starts retrieving repeated past value from clipboard rather than the current value. After googling a lot i came to know that its a problem with Samsung phones and i need to clear clipboard history for that. But i could not find any way to clear clipboard history. Public void CopyToClipboard { int pos = (Integer) v.getTag(); StatusEntity obj=getItem(pos); ClipboardManager clipmanager= (ClipboardManager)getContext().getSystemService(getContext().CLIPBOARD_SERVICE); ClipData clip=ClipData.newPlainText("data",obj.getStatus()); clipmanager.setPrimaryClip(clip); Toast.makeText(getContext(), "Copied to clipboard", 1000).show(); } Hoping that anyone of you can help me regarding this .Any help would be appreciated.

  • Android Nexus One - Can I save energy with color scheme?

    - by Max Gontar
Hi! I'm wondering what color-scheme is more energy-saving for AMOLED display? I've already decided to manage c-scheme according to ambient light, thanks to this post: Somewhat-proof, the link posted by nickf: Ironic Sans: Ow My Eyes. If you read that in a well lit room, the black-on-white will be the most pleasant to read. If you read it in a dark room, the white-on-black will be nicer. But if I want to save battery power, should I use bright content with light background or vice versa? Is it possible anyway (they say it's not)? Thanks!

  • Android: setting up a google map class. bit of advice required.

    - by Capsud
Hey there, Ok so this is what i've got. Button anandabutton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.anandaAddressButton); anandabutton.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { Intent myIntent = new Intent(view.getContext(),MapClass.class); startActivityForResult(myIntent,0); } }); This method opens up my MapClass class which at the moment I just have set to show the location of one place. But I have a load of buttons and rather than making a lot of different mapClass classes for each button, I am wondering can I just use the one class and depending on what button 'id' is pressed, it will check an 'if statement' and then put in the correct coordinates into the method to display the map. It would be a lot neater than coding up like 20-30 classes. I'm not sure if i've explained that right so if not let me know. Thanks for any help.

  • How to insert a SQLite record with a datetime set to 'now' in Android application?

    - by droidguy
Say, we have a table created as: create table notes (_id integer primary key autoincrement, created_date date) To insert a record, I'd use ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put("date_created", ""); long rowId = mDb.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); But how to set the date_created column to "now"? To make it clear, the initialValues.put("date_created", "datetime('now')"); Is not the right solution. It just sets the column to "datetime('now')" text.

  • Android: how can i tell if the soft keyboard is showing or not?

    - by binnyb
Heres the dilemma: I am showing a screen with 3 input fields and 2 buttons inside of a tab(there are 3 tabs total, and they are on the bottom of the screen). the 2 buttons are set to the bottom left and right of the screen, right above the tabs. when i click on an input field, the tabs and buttons are all pushed up on top of the keyboard. i desire to only push the buttons up, and leave the tabs where they originally are, on the bottom. i am thinking of setting the visibility of the tabs to GONE once i determine that the soft keyboard is showing, and visibility to VISIBLE once the soft keyboard is gone. is there some kind of listener for the soft keyboard, or maybe the input field? maybe some tricky use of OnFocusChangeListener for the edit text? How can i determine whether the keyboard is visible or not?

  • Android: I uploaded my first app! Keywords?...

    - by Allan
I've just uploaded my first app on the market. It all went and looks well. I tried a few keywords to search for it, words that I also have in my description AND promo text, but some words don't find my app, some do. How does the keyword strategy work for an app on the market, I couldn't find no documentation on it.

  • Android - How can I upload a txt file to a website?

    - by Donal Rafferty
I want to upload a txt file to a website, I'll admit I haven't looked into it in any great detail but I have looked at a few examples and would like more experienced opinions on whether I'm going in the right direction. Here is what I have so far: DefaultHttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpContext localContext = new BasicHttpContext(); private String ret; HttpResponse response = null; HttpPost httpPost = null; public String postPage(String url, String data, boolean returnAddr) { ret = null; httpClient.getParams().setParameter(ClientPNames.COOKIE_POLICY, CookiePolicy.RFC_2109); httpPost = new HttpPost(url); response = null; StringEntity tmp = null; try { tmp = new StringEntity(data,"UTF-8"); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : UnsupportedEncodingException : "+e); } httpPost.setEntity(tmp); try { response = httpClient.execute(httpPost, localContext); } catch (ClientProtocolException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : ClientProtocolException : "+e); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("HTTPHelp : IOException : "+e); } ret = response.getStatusLine().toString(); return ret; } And I call it as follows: postPage("http://www.testwebsite.com", "data/data/com.testxmlpost.xml/files/logging.txt", true)); I want to be able to upload a file from the device to a website. But when trying this way I get the following response back. HTTP/1.1 405 Method Not Allowed Am I trying the correct way or should I be doing it another way?

  • Accessing cookies in php which are set in java web application

    - by user866937
I am setting a cookie at the domain level on encrypted connection in Java web application running on tomcat and I would like it to be accessible in a php web application running on a same domain but different subdomain. Java web application running on https://javaapp.mycompany.com php web application running on https://phpapp.mycompany.com/subpath/index.php From java, I am setting the cookie with following parameters: Domain: .mycompany.com Send For: Encrypted connections only Expires: After 2 months Path: /subpath Name: __C Value: 1 Dumping all the cookies from my php web application running on https, I do not see any cookies getting dumped by the php web application. Whereas if I set the cookies in Java for any type of connection, only then php web application is able to see them if I run the php app on http instead of https. I believe php web app should be able to retrieve then cookies set for https only and for particular domain and all immediate sub-domains. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for the help.
