  • Information Extraction Toolkits

    - by MathGladiator
I'm looking for information extraction libraries where I can have semi structured information that may have either hidden or incomplete data. I want to train some classifiers to pull out content based on the structure. I'm working on building a tool where I can select text in the browser, and it will generate (via some web service call) a classifier that can be used on other documents to pull out text. I'm primarily looking at how the structure of the document can be used to indicate what the content is.

  • What is the best way to limit text input entry to numbers, lowercase letters, and certain symbols?

    - by Adam Maras
Without using jQuery, what is the best way to limit text entry of a textbox to numbers, lowercase letters and a given set of symbols (for example - and _)? If the user enters an uppercase letter, I would like it to be automatically converted to a lowercase letter, and if the user enters a symbol not within the given set, I would like to be able to instantly show a validation error (show some element adjacent to or below the text box). What's the cleanest cross-browser way of doing this without the aid of jQuery?

  • Javascript: achieving the Google Ad AJAX effect

    - by johnnietheblack
I need to create a portable script to give to others to implement on their websites that will dynamically show content from my database (MySQL). I know AJAX has a cross-site problem, but it seems that Google's ad's somehow manage the effect in a cross-browser / cross-site fashion. Knowing that I have to give people a simple cut/paste snippet to put in their website...how can I achieve this? How did Google?

  • How do I process Proxy Digg JSON for use with jQuery?

    - by Brett
I'm trying to deal with: "Requests made from Javascript running on your web pages must be proxied to avoid same-origin policy conflicts." I know how to work with the JSON once I've got it. But aside from copy-pasting the JSON results via my browser, I don't know how to localize it for use.

  • List of web-based interpreters of various programming languages

    - by Bolo
Let's say you're away from your computer and all you've got is a web browser. You'd still like to run a piece of code (e.g. to check an answer on SO). What are your options? Let's create a list of on-line interpreters of various programming languages. Here are some examples: Python: http://try-python.mired.org/ Haskell: http://tryhaskell.org/ Scala: http://www.simplyscala.com/ Many languages: http://ideone.com/ Many languages: http://codepad.org/

  • Heartbeat/DRBD failover didn't work as expected. How do I make the failover more robust?

    - by Quinn Murphy
I had a scenario where a DRBD-heartbeat set up had a failed node but did not failover. What happened was the primary node had locked up, but didn't go down directly (it was inaccessible via ssh or with the nfs mount, but it could be pinged). The desired behavior would have been to detect this and failover to the secondary node, but it appears that since the primary didn't go full down (there is a dedicated network connection from server to server), heartbeat's detection mechanism didn't pick up on that and therefore didn't failover. Has anyone seen this? Is there something that I need to configure to have more robust cluster failover? DRBD seems to otherwise work fine (had to resync when I rebooted the old primary), but without good failover, it's use is limited. heartbeat 3.0.4 drbd84 RHEL 6.1 We are not using Pacemaker nfs03 is the primary server in this setup, and nfs01 is the secondary. ha.cf # Hearbeat Logging logfacility daemon udpport 694 ucast eth0 192.168.10.47 ucast eth0 192.168.10.42 # Cluster members node nfs01.openair.com node nfs03.openair.com # Hearbeat communication timing. # Sets the triggers and pulse time for swapping over. keepalive 1 warntime 10 deadtime 30 initdead 120 #fail back automatically auto_failback on and here is the haresources file: nfs03.openair.com IPaddr::192.168.10.50/255.255.255.0/eth0 drbddisk::data Filesystem::/dev/drbd0::/data::ext4 nfs nfslock

  • Facebook Open Graph under a constrained application

    - by Hellnar
Hello For an embedded system with internet (which works under a set-top box) I want to develop a primitive Facebook interface where users can type their user-names and password, showing their latest notificationsa, messages and other casual stuff via the recent Facebook Graph API. This middleware program uses Java ME to run programs (such as this simple facebook app) and it can connect to internet however it doesn't have a real web browser. Under this circumstance, is it possible to achieve such Facebook application? If you think so, what approach would you suggest ? Thanks

  • why including www in a jquery load causes it to fail?

    - by zenna
Could someone enlighten me as to why including www in a ajax request causes it to fail. i.e. This works: $('#mydiv').load('http://mydomain.com/getitems'); But this doesn't (returns nothing) $('#mydiv').load('http://www.mydomain.com/getitems'); Note that www.mydomain.com/getitems is a valid domain, in the sense that if I point my web browser to it I am able to load the page.
