  • What tools can be used to download all images in a webpage?

    I would like to download all images in a web page. The tool should be smart enough to examine the css and javascript files in the page source to look for the images. Ideally, it should also replicate the folder hierarchy, saving the images in the correct folder. For example, the web page may have some images for menu items stored in images/menu/ and for background images it may be stored in images/bg/. Is there such a tool that you know of? (preferably in Windows but Linux is still ok) Many thanks to you all.

  • Will using two different tracking codes affect my SERP

    Hello everyone and thanks for your time! I am now facing a problem after a site migration. New site is basically an improved version of old site, with the same content and some extras. After pointing the domain name to the new site, the old site was still online for a while but didn't get any traffic. The new site has its own tracking code. So, old tracking code has age (something like 7 years) but no visitors for a month, but new tracking code is a month old with an acceptable traffic. How to you think google will react if I add old tracking code to new site? Thanks by advance!

  • PHP not working with hosting

    I have been playing with a php CMS site for someone that I am ready to deploy but am running into a couple problems that I assume to be hosting related. I have been developing and playing with it localy and deploying to a hosting environment friendly towards this specific CMS (joomla). I have recently been trying to deploy to a client's hosting and have been running in to some trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been in contact with the clients hosting and have had them set up a mysql DB for me and enable php. Simple php was working but joomla was not able to create the config files it needed to run on this hosting. Therefore I havnt been able to successfully deploy my work. While playing around with some simple php pages I have started getting http 500 errors and now cant seem to get anywhere. This is a smaller hosting company that seems willing to work with me but I dont really know what i need to ask from them to get me working. My questions to you webmaster geniuses would be as follows: Given the situation I have described, is there anything specifically i should do to get my joomla/php site running on this hosting? What specifically should I ask my current hosting providers to do to help me get working? Thanks

  • I am afraid that my University is not going to teach me enough information [closed]

    I attend a University and am a Computer Science major. I have barely entered into the major, as I am a sophomore. However, the coursework I am doing is extremely easy already and I feel as though this degree is going to lead me to a path of knowledge without knowing how to bring it all together. Therefore, I am coming to you to ask where I should begin learning on my own! I am willing to dedicate hours upon hours of learning to code outside of class, as it is truly my passion. I will begin by completing all work on http://www.codecademy.com, however I feel this will not be enough either. I would love to learn to integrate visual languages for video games such as NXA and C# combining it with C++ (as I understand video games can be created in this manner). I would also like to look into LUA and Python scripting. I am asking for advice as to where I should begin my personal studies of learning to program, as with my research it has become quite apparent that simply attaining a degree in Computer Science is quite frankly not enough.   • WHMCS Fatal error: Out of memory while View Invoice PDF

    I can log into WHMCS & can access everything I should be able to access, but if i try to click View PDF Invoice, the following error will occur, Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 67633152) (tried to allocate 76 bytes) in /home/xxxx/public_html/whmcs/includes/classes/class.tcpdf.php on line 8419 I have already set the allocated Memory limit to 256MB, but the error still occurs. At that time of the error, the process memory is exceeding the allocation I set.     I have a site created by Ruby on Rails. I had verified against Google Webmaster Tool some months ago, which was successful. One day webmaster starts giving me Re-verification fails. I tried again to verify my site using Meta tags and HTML files. But I kept having "Verification failed. The connection to your server timed out." Since then, Google stop crawling my site's content - though, somehow google still crawl my PDF contents on my site.

    In my country most of the sites are built using PHP and MySQL. Half of those sites use vbulletin and Wordpress. When it comes to companies, ministries and universities they use ASP.NET. I am not sure what should I learn to get more money as freelacer? Should I learn ASP.NET and focus my area to build companies and universities' sites? (And the question if they will know me one day and ask me to build any of their sites or not?) Or should I learn PHP and focus my business on people's sites and maybe some small formal sites? Which option will give me more money?

  • ecommerce options for 5-6 products

    Hi, We're looking to develop a simple e-commerce solution to sell 5-6 products. We'd rather not have to use PayPal's buttons (buy it now!) if there's an existing alternative, but would also for budget/time constraints don't want to roll our own. Are there any small, basic ecommerce solutions available that would allow this? I did look at Foxy Cart but the monthly fee was a bit of a turn off. (I must sound extremely fussy I'm aware!) Something like Zen would just be overkill for our needs. Thanks for any suggestions.

  • Learn a NoSQL or become a badass with traditional RDMS - Where is/will the work be?

    I'm half way through my MSc and am thinking about my dissertation which I get 3 months to work on full time. Im very comfortable with the traditional Relational Database, the question is should I work on a project where I get a good understanding of something like Cassandra, or should I really push my RDMS knowledge to the limit. Getting great at something like MySQL is a solid safe option, will there really be much work for me with Cassandra in my tool belt? I would love to do either.... Thanks for your opinions and advice.

    Consider a web application installed on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 machine with the admin account. The application is accessible in the server as well as in the network when at least one session of the admin account is logged in. If there are no active sessions of the admin account, the web application is not accessible via the network, nor accessible locally when logged in with another user account. What would cause the web application to be inaccessible there's no Administrator session? Please suggest anything that might help find the solution.

  • Memeory Leak in Windows Page file when calling a shell command

    I have an issue on our Windows 2003 x64 Build Server when invoking shell commands from a script. Each call causes a "memory leak" in the page file so it grows quite rapidly until it reaches the maximum and the machine stops working. I can reproduce the problem very nicely by running a perl script like for ($count=1; $count<5000; $count++) { system "echo huhu"; } It is independent of he scripting language as the same happens with lua: for i=1,5000 do os.execute("echo huhu") end I found somebody describing the same issue with php at http://www.issociate.de/board/post/454835/Memory_leak_occurs_when_exec%28%29_function_is_used_on_Windows_platform.html His solution: Firewall/Virus Scanner does not apply, neither are running on the machine. We can also reproduce the issue on other Developer Machines running XP 64, but not on XP 32 Bit. The guilty guy for the allocation is C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs which runs all the basic Windows services. Does anybody know the issue and how to resolve it ?

    I'm kind of stuck at this part and was hoping that I'd get some assistance. I'm building a highscores page in PHP, that's going great, it works. however, I dislike the idea of "index.php?skill=name" and therefore wanted a bit of SEO in this. I have successfully replaced the url with a more friendly version: "highscores/skill/name" And this is where the problem starts, I have added pagination to the highscores and the page is read from the HTTP_GET page variable ($_GET['page']). I dislike the idea of "highscores/skill/name&page=2" and was hoping if you guys could assist me to make the url like the following: Page 1, so accessing the file without declaring the page number: DOMAIN.TLD/highscores/skill/name Page 1 so now the page variable is needed:DOMAIN.TLD/highscores/skill/name/2 As you can tell the "2" will define page 2 and load the correct data for page 2. However, I'm having much trouble in my .htaccess file to configure it this way. RewriteRule ^highscores\/skill\/(.*?)(\/(.*?)*)$ highscores/skills.php?skill=$1&page=$2 [L] # Skills page That is my latest attempt in order to get it to work, unfortunately it does not work, it makes the page look horrible (CSS doesn't work) and it doesn't go to the page specified on the URL.     W3Schools has a reputation of being incomplete, sometimes incorrect, and ridden with advertising; still, when looking to look up some things or link to documentation when answering a SO question, it still is the only handy cross-browser resource. There are other resources like the Mozilla Developer Network that is doing an increasingly great job documenting JavaScript, and the legendary and great Quirksmode. But they, as brilliant as they are, cover only parts of the areas I am talking about, and provide no community editing and quality control options. Is anybody aware of efforts to create a collaboratively edited, cross-browser HTML/CSS/JavaScript/DOM encyclopedia? If you will, I'm thinking of a challenger to W3Schools like SO was to Experts Exchange. (I thought this more suitable on Programmers than on SO proper - please correct me if I'm wrong.)
