  • How to return a property name when comparing two properties at class-level

    Hi I have implemented an 'EqualTo' Validation Attribute, that compares two Properties of an object, during ModelBinding in ASP.NET MVC 2. The problem I have is not with it not working, because it does work. The problem is, when I do my request - which is an ajax request - I get back errors to my front-end, where it sets a class on the input fields to indicate invalid input. What it does is iterate through a list of Errors (in a JsonResult), and set a class. This is all dandy. But the ValidationAtrribute I am having trouble with is set at a Class-level, i.e., it's not like other ValidationAttributes where you set something like "[Required]" or something like that.     I have what I would consider a small sized iPhone app that uses SQLite. There is a singleton domain object which gets data from a SQLite database. Is it better to create and open the SQLite connection for each request, or to open the DB once and hold on to it for the duration of the app. The app's reason for being is the domain object so other objects will not need the DB.

    So I've got an IKBrowserView all wired up and happily dragging my custom datatype (provided lazily via PasteboardItem) from one window to another, but now I'm interested in detecting when the user drops some data onto the trashcan. Cocoa's documentation says to check the return type of the drag operation itself, but how exactly do I do this with an IKBrowserView? Once I call imageBrowser:writeItemsAtIndexes:toPasteboard: I don't seem to get any notifications other than the request for the pasteboard contents, which doesn't provide a pointer to the drag operation that invoked it.

  • What is a 'better' approach to query/save from server: DTO or Wcf Data Services?

    From my perspective, the Data Services and their query approach is useful when querying simple object graphs from your server-side domain model. But when you want to query complex dependencies I couldn't create anything good out of it. The classic DTO approach is fine-grained and can handle everything, but the downside is that you have to create Dto classes for every type of server-request which is time consuming and you have to synchronize the Dto type with your domain entity/business logic.

    I have tried a few options, none of which seem to work (if I have a simple multipart form with a named field, it works well, but when I don't know the name I can't just grab all files in the request...). I have looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/81451/upload-files-in-google-app-engine and it doesn't seem suitable (or to actually work, as someone mentioned the code snipped it untested).

  • Chrome extension - Localstorage not working

    I'm writing a Chrome extension that uses a content script to modify certain parts of a website. The content script worked fine until I tried to add an options page to my extension.   • Preferred Options for Webservice to Android

    I need to get an Android app to interface with an XML webservice (it's really just a request which returns XML), but as the data is large and includes some things I don't need (like a huge description block), I was thinking of transforming it via a server into a format that would be good for Android, and also to be reduced considering it will be used in a low bandwidth area. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good lightweight protocol? I'm especially thinking about libraries for Android that already exist for say REST or even delimited data.
