Can I create a database using PDO in PHP

I am create a class which uses PDO to interact with MySQL. Can I create a new MySQL table using PDO?

I'm trying to come up with a way for players to fire their weapons and only hit for a certain percentage. For example, one gun can only hit 70% of the time while another only hits 34% of the time. So far all I could come up with is weighted arrays. I am new to SQL so please excuse my question if it is simple. I have a database with a few tables. 1 is a users table, the others are application tables that contain the users preferences for receiving notifications about that application based on the country they are interested in. What I want to do, is retrieve the e-mail address of all users that have an interest in that country. I am struggling to think about how to do this. php - efficent way to get and remove first line in file

Hello, I have a script that each time is called gets the 1st line of a file. Each line is known to be exactly of the same length (32 alphanumerci chars) and terminates with a "\r\n". After getting the 1st line, the script removes it. Now I do in this way: $contents = file_get_contents($file)); $first_line = substr($contents, 0, 32); file_put_contents($file, substr($contents, 32 + 2)); //+2 because we remove also the \r\n Obvioulsy it works, but I was wondering if there could be a smarter (or more efficent) way to do this??? In my simple solution I basically read and rewrite all the file just to take and remove the 1st line. Thanks!

Hi, i'm making a questionnaire about a service quality, its contains the options (poor, regular, good, very good). It's contains 6 questions (radio button) and a suggestion box (textbox). In the table of the database i created 6 rows for questions, 1 for suggestion and 1 for date (a friend of mine tole me to use this but i didn't get why). q1) I'm going to atribute a value form 1 to 4 to the radio buttons options, and i'd like to sum every answer for each question, and then divide by the numbers of user that answered that question and give the mean. how am i supposed to to that? I'd also like generate reports of the month, of the year. q2) not only about the questionnaire but for registration too. I need all the fields to be completed, no blank options, if he don't complete all of fields it'll not be submitted and there will be a warning message to the user. q3) about the field type, i'd like it to be the same class that is in the database, i'm having a "problem". Ex: Name(varchar) : 1234(int), in the field 'name' of the table of the database 1234 will be shown as name, and i don't want this, i want only the type that i declared in the construction of the table. q4) i'd also like to know if it's possible to create pizza graphics, about the percentage of each question, is this possible? q5) I'm using phpmyadmin and some of my id's are auto_increment, but 'cause of my tests they at a high number, i'd like to restart to 0 the ids number, is this possible? PHP: Extract direct sub directory from path string

I need to extract the name of the direct sub directory from a full path string. For example, say we have: $str = "dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4/filename.ext"; $dir = "dir1/dir2"; Then the name of the sub-directory in the $str path relative to $dir would be "dir3". Note that $dir never has '/' at the ends. So the function should be: $subdir = getsubdir($str,$dir); echo $subdir; // Outputs "dir3" If $dir="dir1" then the output would be "dir2". If $dir="dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4" then the output would be "" (empty). If $dir="" then the output would be "dir1". Etc.. Currently this is what I have, and it works (as far as I've tested it). I'm just wondering if there's a simpler way since I find I'm using a lot of string functions. Maybe there's some magic regexp to do this in one line? (I'm not too good with regexp unfortunately). function getsubdir($str,$dir) { // Remove the filename $str = dirname($str); // Remove the $dir if(!empty($dir)){ $str = str_replace($dir,"",$str); } // Remove the leading '/' if there is one $si = stripos($str,"/"); if($si == 0){ $str = substr($str,1); } // Remove everything after the subdir (if there is anything) $lastpart = strchr($str,"/"); $str = str_replace($lastpart,"",$str); return $str; } As you can see, it's a little hacky in order to handle some odd cases (no '/' in input, empty input, etc). PHP - MySQL - Select runs indefinitely

I have three tables listings: id, pid, beds, baths, etc, etc, etc, db locations: id, pid, zip, lat, lon, etc, etc, etc, db images id, pid, height, width, raw, etc, etc, db id, pid & db are indexed. db just references the mls provider a particular item came from. in images the raw column holds raw image data there are about 15k rows in listings/locations, and about 120k rows in images so there are multiple rows that have the same pid. when i do "select pid from listings" or "select pid from locations" the query completes successfully in about 100ms. when i do "select pid from images" it just hangs in sqlyog and never completes... i was thinking since the raw column contains alot of information that it might be trying to select that too, but my query doesn't try to select that so I can't imagine why it's taking so long... any idea why this is happening??

Converting a PHP array to class variables.

Simple question, how do I convert an associative array to variables in a class? I know there is casting to do an (object) $myarray or whatever it is, but that will create a new stdClass and doesn't help me much. Are there any easy one or two line methods to make each $key => $value pair in my array into a $key = $value variable for my class? I don't find it very logical to use a foreach loop for this, I'd be better off just converting it to a stdClass and storing that in a variable, wouldn't I? class MyClass { var $myvar; // I want variables like this, so they can be references as $this->myvar function __construct($myarray) { // a function to put my array into variables } }

PHP sleep() excution sequence while echoeing.

I have the following: echo time()." "; sleep(1); echo time()." "; sleep(1); echo time()." "; I wrote the preceding code with intention to echo time()." " ln 1,echo time()." " ln 4, wait a final second and then echo the final time()." ". Altough the time bieng echoed is correct when it comes to the intervals between time(), all echo functions are echoeing after the total of the waiting period/parameters in each sleep function. This is how the script runs: Excutes. Waits 2 secons. echoes 1275540664 1275540665 1275540666 Notice the correct incrementation in time() being echoed. My question is why is it not behaving like expected to where it echoes, waits a second, echoes again, waits one final second and then echos the last parameter? I know my question is a little confusing due to my wording, but i will try my hardest to answer any comments regarding this, thanks.
