  We want to give access to some Windows Server users so they can remotely have access to our server and download from a special folder of the server. The licenses we give to users, are time base. There should be 1 month, 2 month, ..., 1 year, ... licenses. CURRENT SITUATION (WHAT I DON'T WANT): When users are created and added to the OS, a solid expiration date is given. WHAT I WANT: Users' expiration date should be calculated automatically after first login. The user might not need his account right when purchases the license. In another words: When a license of the user we create is purchased at Jan 1st, he should use the license until Feb 1st. No matter whether he really logs in or not. He cannot come Feb 5th and begin using his license because that has expired then. What I want is that when he comes at Feb 5th and begins using, the license update until March 5th. CLARIFICATION (Update after MDMarra's comment) Working environment is Windows Server 2012. By the word 'user', I mean Native Windows Server Users. I was wondering how Python is able to do this? It's generally interpreted, so how does some of the code get compiled while another is interpreted - and in a different language? Why not just compile the whole thing?

• [Python] How do I read binary pickle data first, then unpickle it?

  I'm unpickling a NetworkX object that's about 1GB in size on disk. Although I saved it in the binary format (using protocol 2), it is taking a very long time to unpickle this file---at least half an hour. The system I'm running on has plenty of system memory (128 GB), so that's not the bottleneck. I've read here that pickling can be sped up by first reading the entire file into memory, and then unpickling it (that particular thread refers to python 3.0, which I'm not using, but the point should still be true in python 2.6). How do I first read the binary file, and then unpickle it? I have tried: import cPickle as pickle f = open("big_networkx_graph.pickle","rb") bin_data = f.read() graph_data = pickle.load(bin_data) But this returns: TypeError: argument must have 'read' and 'readline' attributes Any ideas?

  Hello, To keep things simple, please allow the "assumption" that some code requires the use of a full URL, even though the domain is on the same server, i.e. a simple file path cannot be used. TCP/IP?? Question: If a form action target = "http://this-full-URL.com/postdata" (for example) and that URL is also on the same server, then which happens first? A) Data is sent "out onto the web", and then returns to the same server, or B) Before sending any (possibly sensitive) data, the server (Linux, Apache, PHP), first "discovers" the target address is local, so (clearly) no data is sent over the net? That is, is there any way to return the first non-null value of several variables? e.g. Double a = null; Double b = 4.4; Double c = null; I want to somehow have a statement that will return the first non-null value of a, b, and c - in this case, it would return b, or 4.4. (Something like the sql method - return COALESCE(a,b,c)). I know that I can do it explicitly with something like: return a != null ? a : (b != null ? b : c) But I wondered if there was any built-in, accepted function to accomplish this.

• Mercurial - How to stop tracking modified file but keep the first version in repository.

  I create the hg repository with my source tree. I want to keep the first version of some files such as Makefile in the repository and then hg don't see it modified even through I modified it. Original problem is that ./configure usually modifies the Makefile but I don't want the build files to committed in the repository. So I want to keep only first version of configure and Makefile in the repository so that everybody who clone my repository can run ./configure by themself and not bother the repository I tried hg remove or hg forget but those are stop tracking and also delete the files in the next revision of reporitory. .hgignore doesn't do the things too. I think of hg revert everytimes I run ./configure or make but it's not efficient way. Are there any better ways?

  I have a html page with 10 columns but I don't have show all in same page instead I have to show only 4 column moreover I have to render those column on a button click call add column. What is the best approach to render 1-4 column first ? Fist column render first and on clicking button say add will render 2nd column , than 3rd and fourth. Now when i will load 5th column ...I will have to hide 1st column so that i will accommodate 4 columns but data inside that column will stay ....my limit is to show 4 column at a time and hiding leftmost .... any helpful javascript or jquery advice will be appreciated ..thanks!

  Hey guys, I'm using a client - server app. When a client starts, he gets a login-screen. When the server is not up yet, the call to the server will throw an exception which i catch (EndpointNotFoundException). I show a messagebox telling the user the server is offline. When he tries to reconnect again, it will throw another exception (CommunicationObjectFaultedException), even though the server is online. When a new client starts then, he can connect to the server. But the client who attempted before, still gets the error. My question now is how can the first client login after a failed first try without having to start his program again. So i want to clear the communicationchannel of its faulted state or something like that. Thanks in advance.

  I have the following string: "h3. My Title Goes Here" I basically want to remove the first 4 characters from the string so that I just get back: "My Title Goes Here". The thing is I am iterating over an array of strings and not all have the h3. part in front so I can't just ditch the first 4 characters blindly. I have checked the docs and the closest think I could find was chomp, but that only works for the end of a string. Right now I am doing this: "h3. My Title Goes Here".reverse.chomp(" .3h").reverse This gives me my desired output, but there has to be a better way right? I mean I don't want to reverse a string twice for no reason. I am new to programming so I might have missed something obvious, but I didn't see the opposite of chomp anywhere in the docs. Is there another method that will work? Thanks!

• Is it OK to repeat code for unit tests?

  I wrote some sorting algorithms for a class assignment and I also wrote a few tests to make sure the algorithms were implemented correctly. My tests are only like 10 lines long and there are 3 of them but only 1 line changes between the 3 so there is a lot of repeated code. Is it better to refactor this code into another method that is then called from each test? Wouldn't I then need to write another test to test the refactoring? Some of the variables can even be moved up to the class level. Should testing classes and methods follow the same rules as regular classes/methods? I was wondering if there was a standard authoring style or if everything is freestyle.   I am getting ready to start building a new web project in my spare time to bring to fruition an idea that has been bouncing around my head for a while. I have never gotten down whether I am better off first building the model and then the consuming application or the other way around. What are the best practices? What would you build first and why? I imagine that in general the application should generally drive the model, however the application like many websites really doesn't do much without the model. For some reason I find it easier at times to think in terms of the model since the application is really just actions on the model. Is this a poor way of thinking about things?   I just got an email, from a former user on my website He was complaining that Google still shows the contact page he created on my site, even though he deleted it a month ago This is the first time in many years anyone requests this I told him, that it's almost entirely up to Google what content it wants to keep/show and for how long. If it's deleted on the site, I can't do much, other than request a re-visit from the googlebot The user-page already now says something like "Not found. The user has removed the content" TL;DR: But the question is: Should I generally add a 404 header (or other) for dynamic user content that has been removed from the site? Or could this hurt the site (SEO)?
