  • Select form children when multiple forms are present jQuery

    - by afreeland
I am dealing with a webpage that has multiple forms..some basic HTML forms and some AJAX forms. I have a created validation for inputs, let me give an example...if an input has a class="required" whenever a submit button is pressed if any required classes are empty then the form doesnt submit. Which works great...until you have multiple forms with required fields that dont apply to the section your submitting. I am able to find the closest form $(this).closest("form") and it gets me the form element properly, I then need to be able to loop only through the children of that form. I have tried: .children(':input'), .find('input') and honestly to many to list. Here is the code for when a button is selected $('#formSubmit').click(function (e) { var submit = true; var form = $(this).closest("form"); var formID = $(form).attr("id"); e.preventDefault(); $(form).children(":input").each(function () { if ($('#ERROR').length > 0) { submit = false; alert("Please fix errors to continue"); } $('.required').each(function () { if ($(this).val() == "" || $(this).val() == undefined) { submit = false; $(this).css({ 'background-color': '#fef236' }); } }); }); if (submit == true) { this.form.submit(); } }); //End of #formSubmit Also of interest I have started creating forms with ids that are GUID's so they will be unique and allow me to target things without any issues, just wanted to throw that out there if it can help lead to a solution I appreciate any help =)

  • Looping through array values using JQuery and show them on separate lines

    - by user3192948
I'm building a simple shopping cart where visitors can select a few items they want, click on the "Next" button, and see the confirmation list of things they just selected. I would like to have the confirmation list shown on each line for each item selected. HTML selection <div id="c_b"> <input type="checkbox" value="razor brand new razor that everyone loves, price at $.99" checked> <input type="checkbox" value="soap used soap for a nice public shower, good for your homies, price at $.99" checked> <input type="checkbox" value="manpacks ultimate choice, all in 1, price at $99"> </div> <button type='button' id='confirm'>Next</button> HTML confirmation list <div id='confirmation_list' style='display:none;'> <h2>You have selected item 1</h2> <h2>Your have selected item 2 </h2> </div> JS $(function(){ $('#confirm').click(function(){ var val = []; $(':checkbox:checked').each(function(i){ val[i] = $(this).val(); }); }); }); I ultimately want to replace the words 'Your have selected item 2' in h2s with the values selected from each check box. With the code above I'm able to collect the values of each checkbox into an array val, but having difficulty looping through and displaying them. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • [jQuery] Get width of element after resizing it

    - by infinito
Hello, Is it possible to get the size of an element after resizing it using $(el).css()? My code is: function resize() { $(".combobox").css('width', '100%'); var width = $(".combobox").width(); } I've get the real value of the combobox only after calling the function a second time. The first time is gets the width before executing $(".combobox").css('width', '100%'); I suppose this is fault of the DOM not being recreated after the .css(). Is there any way to force DOM reloading? Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery clone( true ) not working with dynamic elements

    - by elclanrs
Take the following example: $.fn.foo = function() { var $input = $('<input type="text"/>'); var $button_one = $('<button>One</button>'); var $button_two = $('<button>Two</button>'); $button_one.click(function(){ $input.val('hey'); }); $button_two.click(function(){ $input.replaceWith( $input.val('').clone( true ) ); }); this.append($input, $button_one, $button_two); }; Check the demo: http://jsbin.com/ezexah/1/edit Now click "one" and you should see "hey" in the input. Next click "two" and then click "one" again and it doesn't work. Even using the true option in clone to copy all events it still does not work. Any ideas?

  • jQuery responds to click() differently for user and programmatic triggers

    - by Moss
Here's the code: this.Form.find("input[type=checkbox]").click(function(event) { if ($(this).is(":checked")) { console.log("checked"); } else { console.log("unchecked"); } }); If the checkbox is not checked, and I click with the mouse, I get "checked". If I trigger it programmatically like $("#someCheckbox").click(), I get "unchecked". How to make the two behave the same way?

  • Use jQuery.post() result in javascript function

    - by Juvlius
I've got no clue how to do the following, so I wasn't sure what to search for either. For validating my registration form I've a javascript function that checkes the existence of the inserted username in the database onblur of the username textfield. function checkUsername(username){ $.post("checkmail.php", {mail: mailcheck} , function(data){ var $response=$(data); var response = $response.filter('#mail-response').text(); if(response == "taken") { document.getElementById('username').style.borderColor = rood; valid = false; } }); } This works fine, but now I want to validate it again onsubmit of the form in case users decide to submit an existing username. function validateForm() { var valid = true; //checks different fields //now check voor username existence var username = document.getElementById('username').value; checkUsername.call(username); if (!valid) { return false; } else { return true; } } I'm not familiar enough with Javascript to get this working. Probably thinking in the wrong direction...

  • Need help with jquery sorting

    - by Klerk
    I have a column within which are multiple 'records' (each a div). Each record has a bunch of fields (each a span whose id is the fieldname). I want to allow the user to sort all the records based on a field. I also want, the field that has been sorted to be moved to the beginning of the record. So I came up with this. But its really slow for a large sets. Not sure whats the best way to do this. Any ideas? $(".col1 div").sort( function (a,b) { if($(a).children("."+field).text() > $(b).children("."+field).text()) return -1; else return 1; }).appendTo(".col1");
