  • XSLT Transformation of XML File

    - by Russ Clark
    I've written a simple XML Document that I am trying to transform with an XSLT file, but I get no results when I run the code. Here is my XML document: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <Employee xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="XSLT_MVC.Controllers"> <ID>42</ID> <Name>Russ</Name> </Employee> And here is the XSLT file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt" exclude-result-prefixes="msxsl" xmlns:ex="XSLT_MVC.Controllers" > <xsl:output method="xml" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:copy> <!--<xsl:apply-templates select="@* | node()"/>--> <xsl:value-of select="ex:Employee/Name"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Here is the code (from a C# console app) I am trying to run to perform the transform: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Xml; using System.Xml.Xsl; using System.Xml.XPath; namespace XSLT { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Transform(); } public static void Transform() { XPathDocument myXPathDoc = new XPathDocument(@"docs\sampledoc.xml"); XslTransform myXslTrans = new XslTransform(); myXslTrans.Load(@"docs\new.xslt"); XmlTextWriter myWriter = new XmlTextWriter( "results.html", null); myXslTrans.Transform(myXPathDoc, null, myWriter); myWriter.Close(); } } } When I run the code I get a blank html file. I think I may have problems with the namespaces, but am not sure. Can anyone help with this?

  • Return pre-UPDATE column values in PostgreSQL without using triggers, functions or other "magic"

    - by Python Larry
    I have a related question, but this is another part of MY puzzle. I would like to get the OLD VALUE of a Column from a Row that was UPDATEd... WITHOUT using Triggers (nor Stored Procedures, nor any other extra, non-SQL/-query entities). The query I have is like this: UPDATE my_table SET processing_by = our_id_info -- unique to this instance WHERE trans_nbr IN ( SELECT trans_nbr FROM my_table GROUP BY trans_nbr HAVING COUNT(trans_nbr) > 1 LIMIT our_limit_to_have_single_process_grab ) RETURNING row_id If I could do "FOR UPDATE ON my_table" at the end of the subquery, that'd be devine (and fix my other question/problem). But, that won't work: can't have this AND a "GROUP BY" (which is necessary for figuring out the COUNT of trans_nbr's). Then I could just take those trans_nbr's and do a query first to get the (soon-to-be-) former processing_by values. I've tried doing like: UPDATE my_table SET processing_by = our_id_info -- unique to this instance FROM my_table old_my_table JOIN ( SELECT trans_nbr FROM my_table GROUP BY trans_nbr HAVING COUNT(trans_nbr) > 1 LIMIT our_limit_to_have_single_process_grab ) sub_my_table ON old_my_table.trans_nbr = sub_my_table.trans_nbr WHERE my_table.trans_nbr = sub_my_table.trans_nbr AND my_table.processing_by = old_my_table.processing_by RETURNING my_table.row_id, my_table.processing_by, old_my_table.processing_by But that can't work; "old_my_table" is not viewable outside of the join; the RETURNING clause is blind to it. I've long since lost count of all the attempts I've made; I have been researching this for literally hours. If I could just find a bullet-proof way to lock the rows in my subquery - and ONLY those rows, and WHEN the subquery happens - all the concurrency issues I'm trying to avoid disappear... UPDATE: [WIPES EGG OFF FACE] Okay, so I had a typo in the non-generic code of the above that I wrote "doesn't work"; it does... thanks to Erwin Brandstetter, below, who stated it would, I re-did it (after a night's sleep, refreshed eyes, and a banana for bfast). Since it took me so long/hard to find this sort of solution, perhaps my embarrassment is worth it? At least this is on SO for posterity now... : What I now have (that works) is like this: UPDATE my_table SET processing_by = our_id_info -- unique to this instance FROM my_table AS old_my_table WHERE trans_nbr IN ( SELECT trans_nbr FROM my_table GROUP BY trans_nbr HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 LIMIT our_limit_to_have_single_process_grab ) AND my_table.row_id = old_my_table.row_id RETURNING my_table.row_id, my_table.processing_by, old_my_table.processing_by AS old_processing_by The COUNT(*) is per a suggestion from Flimzy in a comment on my other (linked above) question. (I was more specific than necessary. [In this instance.])

  • Performing dynamic sorts on EF4 data

    - by Jaxidian
    I'm attempting to perform dynamic sorting of data that I'm putting into grids into our MVC UI. Since MVC is abstracted from everything else via WCF, I've created a couple utility classes and extensions to help with this. The two most important things (slightly simplified) are as follows: public static IQueryable<T> ApplySortOptions<T, TModel, TProperty>(this IQueryable<T> collection, IEnumerable<ISortOption<TModel, TProperty>> sortOptions) where TModel : class { var sortedSortOptions = (from o in sortOptions orderby o.Priority ascending select o).ToList(); var results = collection; foreach (var option in sortedSortOptions) { var currentOption = option; var propertyName = currentOption.Property.MemberWithoutInstance(); var isAscending = currentOption.IsAscending; if (isAscending) { results = from r in results orderby propertyName ascending select r; } else { results = from r in results orderby propertyName descending select r; } } return results; } public interface ISortOption<TModel, TProperty> where TModel : class { Expression<Func<TModel, TProperty>> Property { get; set; } bool IsAscending { get; set; } int Priority { get; set; } } I've not given you the implementation for MemberWithoutInstance() but just trust me in that it returns the name of the property as a string. :-) Following is an example of how I would consume this (using a non-interesting, basic implementation of ISortOption<TModel, TProperty>): var query = from b in CurrentContext.Businesses select b; var sortOptions = new List<ISortOption<Business, object>> { new SortOption<Business, object> { Property = (x => x.Name), IsAscending = true, Priority = 0 } }; var results = query.ApplySortOptions(sortOptions); As I discovered with this question, the problem is specific to my orderby propertyName ascending and orderby propertyName descending lines (everything else works great as far as I can tell). How can I do this in a dynamic/generic way that works properly?

  • Enable Proxy Authentication for normal windows application.

    - by Lalit
    my company's internet works on proxy server with Authentication(i.e. Browser prompts with window for username/password everytime i tried to access any web page). Now i have some windows application which tries to access internet(like WebPI/Visual Studio 2008 for rss feeds), but as they are unable to popup the the authentication window, they are unable to connect with internet with error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required . Here the exception is VS2008, first time it always fails to load rss feeds on startup page, but when i click on the link, it shows authentication window and everything works fine after that. my question is: How can i configure normal windows application(through app.config/app.manifest file) accessing web to able to show the authentication window or provide default credentials. For explore this furthor, i have created one console application on VS2008 which tries to serach something on google and display the result on console. Code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Net; using System.IO; namespace WebAccess.Test { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Console.WriteLine("Enter Serach Criteria:"); string criteria = Console.ReadLine(); string baseAddress = "http://www.google.com/search?q="; string output = ""; try { // Create the web request HttpWebRequest request = WebRequest.Create(baseAddress + criteria) as HttpWebRequest; // Get response using (HttpWebResponse response = request.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse) { // Get the response stream StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); // Console application output output = reader.ReadToEnd(); } Console.WriteLine("\nResponse : \n\n{0}", output); } catch (Exception ex) { Console.WriteLine("\nError : \n\n{0}", ex.ToString()); } } } } When running this, It gives error Enter Serach Criteria: Lalit Error : System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authen tication Required. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at WebAccess.Test.Program.Main(String[] args) in D:\LK\Docs\VS.NET\WebAccess. • Flex+JPA/Hibernate+BlazeDS+MySQL how to debug this monster?!

    - by Zenzen
    Ok so I'm making a "simple" web app using the technologies from the topic, recently I found http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex_hibernate.html so I'm following it and I try to apply it to my app, the only difference being I'm working on a Mac and I'm using MAMP for the database (so no command line for me). The thing is I'm having some trouble with retrieving/connecting to the database. I have the remoting-config.xml, persistance.xml, a News.java class (my Entity), a NewsService.java class, a News.as class - all just like in the tutorial. I have of course this line in one of my .mxmls: <mx:RemoteObject id="loaderService" destination="newsService" result="handleLoadResult(event)" fault="handleFault(event)" showBusyCursor="true" /> And my remoting-config.xml looks like this (well part of it): <destination id="newsService"> <properties><source>com.gamelist.news.NewsService</source></properties> </destination> NewsService has a method: public List<News> getLatestNews() { EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(PERSISTENCE_UNIT); EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager(); Query findLatestQuery = em.createNamedQuery("news.findLatest"); List<News> news = findLatestQuery.getResultList(); return news; } And the named query is in the News class: @Entity @Table(name="GLT_NEWS") @NamedQueries({ @NamedQuery(name="news.findLatest", query="from GLT_NEWS order by new_date_added limit 5 ") }) The handledLoadResult looks like this: private function handleLoadResult(ev:ResultEvent):void { newsList = ev.result as ArrayCollection; newsRecords = newsList.length; } Where: [Bindable] private var newsList:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); But when I try to trigger: loaderService.getLatestNews(); nothing happens, newsList is empty. Few things I need to point out: 1) as I said I didn't install mysql manually, but I'm using MAMP (yes, the server's running), could this cause some trouble? 2) I already have a "gladm" database and I have a "GLT_NEWS" table with all the fields, is this bad? Basically the question is how am I suppose to debug this thing so I can find the mistake I'm making? I know that loadData() is executed (did a trace()), but I have no idea what happens with loaderService.getLatestNews()... @EDIT: ok so I see I'm getting an error in the "fault handler" which says "Error: Client.Error.MessageSend - Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Status 404: url: 'http://localhost:8080/WebContent/messagebroker/amf' - "

  • PyGTK: dynamic label wrapping

    - by detly
    It's a known bug/issue that a label in GTK will not dynamically resize when the parent changes. It's one of those really annoying small details, and I want to hack around it if possible. I followed the approach at 16 software, but as per the disclaimer you cannot then resize it smaller. So I attempted a trick mentioned in one of the comments (the set_size_request call in the signal callback), but this results in some sort of infinite loop (try it and see). Does anyone have any other ideas? (You can't block the signal just for the duration of the call, since as the print statements seem to indicate, the problem starts after the function is left.) The code is below. You can see what I mean if you run it and try to resize the window larger and then smaller. (If you want to see the original problem, comment out the line after "Connect to the size-allocate signal", run it, and resize the window bigger.) The Glade file ("example.glade"): <?xml version="1.0"?> <glade-interface> <!-- interface-requires gtk+ 2.16 --> <!-- interface-naming-policy project-wide --> <widget class="GtkWindow" id="window1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <signal name="destroy" handler="on_destroy"/> <child> <widget class="GtkLabel" id="label1"> <property name="visible">True</property> <property name="label" translatable="yes">In publishing and graphic design, lorem ipsum[p][1][2] is the name given to commonly used placeholder text (filler text) to demonstrate the graphic elements of a document or visual presentation, such as font, typography, and layout. The lorem ipsum text, which is typically a nonsensical list of semi-Latin words, is a hacked version of a Latin text by Cicero, with words/letters omitted and others inserted, but not proper Latin[1][2] (see below: History and discovery). The closest English translation would be "pain itself" (dolorem = pain, grief, misery, suffering; ipsum = itself).</property> <property name="wrap">True</property> </widget> </child> </widget> </glade-interface> The Python code: #!/usr/bin/python import pygtk import gobject import gtk.glade def wrapped_label_hack(gtklabel, allocation): print "In wrapped_label_hack" gtklabel.set_size_request(allocation.width, -1) # If you uncomment this, we get INFINITE LOOPING! # gtklabel.set_size_request(-1, -1) print "Leaving wrapped_label_hack" class ExampleGTK: def __init__(self, filename): self.tree = gtk.glade.XML(filename, "window1", "Example") self.id = "window1" self.tree.signal_autoconnect(self) # Connect to the size-allocate signal self.get_widget("label1").connect("size-allocate", wrapped_label_hack) def on_destroy(self, widget): self.close() def get_widget(self, id): return self.tree.get_widget(id) def close(self): window = self.get_widget(self.id) if window is not None: window.destroy() gtk.main_quit() if __name__ == "__main__": window = ExampleGTK("example.glade") gtk.main()

  • How to make efficient code emerge through unit testing

    - by Jean
    Hi, I participate in a TDD Coding Dojo, where we try to practice pure TDD on simple problems. It occured to me however that the code which emerges from the unit tests isn't the most efficient. Now this is fine most of the time, but what if the code usage grows so that efficiency becomes a problem. I love the way the code emerges from unit testing, but is it possible to make the efficiency property emerge through further tests ? Here is a trivial example in ruby: prime factorization. I followed a pure TDD approach making the tests pass one after the other validating my original acceptance test (commented at the bottom). What further steps could I take, if I wanted to make one of the generic prime factorization algorithms emerge ? To reduce the problem domain, let's say I want to get a quadratic sieve implementation ... Now in this precise case I know the "optimal algorithm, but in most cases, the client will simply add a requirement that the feature runs in less than "x" time for a given environment. require 'shoulda' require 'lib/prime' class MathTest < Test::Unit::TestCase context "The math module" do should "have a method to get primes" do assert Math.respond_to? 'primes' end end context "The primes method of Math" do should "return [] for 0" do assert_equal [], Math.primes(0) end should "return [1] for 1 " do assert_equal [1], Math.primes(1) end should "return [1,2] for 2" do assert_equal [1,2], Math.primes(2) end should "return [1,3] for 3" do assert_equal [1,3], Math.primes(3) end should "return [1,2] for 4" do assert_equal [1,2,2], Math.primes(4) end should "return [1,5] for 5" do assert_equal [1,5], Math.primes(5) end should "return [1,2,3] for 6" do assert_equal [1,2,3], Math.primes(6) end should "return [1,3] for 9" do assert_equal [1,3,3], Math.primes(9) end should "return [1,2,5] for 10" do assert_equal [1,2,5], Math.primes(10) end end # context "Functionnal Acceptance test 1" do # context "the prime factors of 14101980 are 1,2,2,3,5,61,3853"do # should "return [1,2,3,5,61,3853] for ${14101980*14101980}" do # assert_equal [1,2,2,3,5,61,3853], Math.primes(14101980*14101980) # end # end # end end and the naive algorithm I created by this approach module Math def self.primes(n) if n==0 return [] else primes=[1] for i in 2..n do if n%i==0 while(n%i==0) primes<<i n=n/i end end end primes end end end

  • Declare private static members in F#?

    - by acidzombie24
    I decided to port the class in C# below to F# as an exercise. It was difficult. I only notice three problems 1) Greet is visible 2) I can not get v to be a static class variable 3) I do not know how to set the greet member in the constructor. How do i fix these? The code should be similar enough that i do not need to change any C# source. ATM only Test1.v = 21; does not work C# using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace CsFsTest { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Test1.hi("stu"); new Test1().hi(); Test1.v = 21; var a = new Test1("Stan"); a.hi(); a.a = 9; Console.WriteLine("v = {0} {1} {2}", a.a, a.b, a.NotSTATIC()); } } class Test1 { public int a; public int b { get { return a * 2; } } string greet = "User"; public static int v; public Test1() {} public Test1(string name) { greet = name; } public static void hi(string greet) { Console.WriteLine("Hi {0}", greet); } public void hi() { Console.WriteLine("Hi {0} #{1}", greet, v); } public int NotSTATIC() { return v; } } } F# namespace CsFsTest type Test1 = (* public int a; public int b { get { return a * 2; } } string greet = "User"; public static int v; *) [<DefaultValue>] val mutable a : int member x.b = x.a * 2 member x.greet = "User" (*!!   • ASP.NET Client to Server communication

    - by Nelson
    Can you help me make sense of all the different ways to communicate from browser to client in ASP.NET? I have made this a community wiki so feel free to edit my post to improve it. Specifically, I'm trying to understand in which scenario to use each one by listing how each works. I'm a little fuzzy on UpdatePanel vs CallBack (with ViewState): I know UpdatePanel always returns HTML while CallBack can return JSON. Any other major differences? ...and CallBack (without ViewState) vs WebMethod. CallBack goes through most of the Page lifecycle, WebMethod doesn't. Any other major differences? IHttpHandler Custom handler for anything (page, image, etc.) Only does what you tell it to do (light server processing) Page is an implementation of IHttpHandler If you don't need what Page provides, create a custom IHttpHandler If you are using Page but overriding Render() and not generating HTML, you probably can do it with a custom IHttpHandler (e.g. writing binary data such as images) By default can use the .axd or .ashx file extensions -- both are functionally similar .ashx doesn't have any built-in endpoints, so it's preferred by convention Regular PostBack (System.Web.UI.Page : IHttpHandler) Inherits Page Full PostBack, including ViewState and HTML control values (heavy traffic) Full Page lifecycle (heavy server processing) No JavaScript required Webpage flickers/scrolls since everything is reloaded in browser Returns full page HTML (heavy traffic) UpdatePanel (Control) Control inside Page Full PostBack, including ViewState and HTML control values (heavy traffic) Full Page lifecycle (heavy server processing) Controls outside the UpdatePanel do Render(NullTextWriter) Must use ScriptManager If no client-side JavaScript, it can fall back to regular PostBack with no JavaScript (?) No flicker/scroll since it's an async call, unless it falls back to regular postback. Can be used with master pages and user controls Has built-in support for progress bar Returns HTML for controls inside UpdatePanel (medium traffic) Client CallBack (Page, System.Web.UI.ICallbackEventHandler) Inherits Page Most of Page lifecycle (heavy server processing) Takes only data you specify (light traffic) and optionally ViewState (?) (medium traffic) Client must support JavaScript and use ScriptManager No flicker/scroll since it's an async call Can be used with master pages and user controls Returns only data you specify in format you specify (e.g. JSON, XML...) (?) (light traffic) WebMethod Class implements System.Web.Service.WebService HttpContext available through this.Context Takes only data you specify (light traffic) Server only runs the called method (light server processing) Client must support JavaScript No flicker/scroll since it's an async call Can be used with master pages and user controls Returns only data you specify, typically JSON (light traffic) Can create instance of server control to render HTML and sent back as string, but events, paging in GridView, etc. won't work PageMethods Essentially a WebMethod contained in the Page class, so most of WebMethod's bullet's apply Method must be public static, therefore no Page instance accessible HttpContext available through HttpContext.Current Accessed directly by URL Page.aspx/MethodName (e.g. with XMLHttpRequest directly or with library such as jQuery) Setting ScriptManager property EnablePageMethods="True" generates a JavaScript proxy for each WebMethod Cannot be used directly in user controls with master pages and user controls Any others?

  • launching mapview from main activity (button)

    - by arc
    Hi all. Going round in circles here i think. I have an activity called Locate; public class Locate extends Activity { public static String lat; public static String lon; public static String number; public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.locate); final Button buttonMaps = (Button) findViewById(R.id.ButtonMaps); buttonMaps.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Button Pressed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); try { Intent i = new Intent(getBaseContext(), displayMap.class); i.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); startActivity(i); } catch (ActivityNotFoundException e) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Activity Not Found", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } }}); // Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "lat: " + lat + " long: " + lon + " from: " + testname, Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); } If I make the displayMap class into a normal Activity, and just have display a toast message confirming it has loaded - then it works fine. If i do this though; public class displayMap extends MapActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ public void onCreate() { setContentView(R.layout.displaymap); Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Display Map", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } @Override protected boolean isRouteDisplayed() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return false; } } Then as soon as I click the Button, I get a force close. I have the correct 'uses-library' tag in my manifest; <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" /> I don't get what it just force closes everytime i try and load it. If I make this my onClick handler then it will fire up a working googlemaps/default mapview public void onClick(View v) { Toast.makeText(getBaseContext(), "Button Pressed", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); Uri uri=Uri.parse("geo:"+Locate.lat+","+Locate.lon); StartActivity(new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, uri)); } But that is not what I am trying to do, I want my own - so that I can add overlays etc to it. But it does prove that the permission are set correctly and that the lib is there. The logcat error when the app FCs is a Unexpected DEX error. Can anyone point in the right direction here?

  • CellTable + AsyncListViewAdapter<T> + SimplePager<T>, stuck with 'loading' bar when paging

    - by Jaroslav Záruba
    Hi I'm trying to make CellTable, AsyncListViewAdapter<T> and SimplePager<T> working together. I managed to display my data, but whenever I click either "go to start" or "go to end" button I get that 'loading' indicator which stays there till the end of days. (And AsyncListViewAdapter<T>.onRangeChanged doesn't even get called this time.) I went through the code-snippets in this thread, but I can't see nothing suspicions in what I've been doing. Is there some obvious answer to a rookie mistake? I shrinked my variable names, hopefully it won't wrap too much. protected class MyAsyncAdapter extends AsyncListViewAdapter<DTO> { @Override protected void onRangeChanged(ListView<DTO> v) { // doesn't get called on go2start/go2end :( Range r = v.getRange(); fetchData(r.getStart(), r.getLength()); } } private void addTable() { // table: CellTable<DTO> table = new CellTable<DTO>(10); table.addColumn(new Column<DTO, String>(new TextCell()) { @Override public String getValue(DTO namespace) { return namespace.getName(); } }, "Name"); // pager: SimplePager<DTO> pager = new SimplePager<DTO>(table); table.setPager(pager); adapter = new MyAsyncAdapter(); adapter.addView(table); // does not make any difference: // adapter.updateDataSize(0, false); // adapter.updateDataSize(10, true); VerticalPanel vPanel = new VerticalPanel(); vPanel.add(table); vPanel.add(pager); RootLayoutPanel.get().add(vPanel); } // success-handler of my fetching AsyncCallback @Override public void onSuccess(List<DTO> data) { // AsyncCallback<List<DTO>> has start field adapter.updateViewData(start, data.size(), data); if(data.size() < length) adapter.updateDataSize(start + data.size(), true); } Regards J. • Android - How to scan Access Points and select strongest signal?

    - by Donal Rafferty
    I am currently trying to write a class in Android that will Scan for access points, calculate which access point has the best signal and then connect to that access point. So the application will be able to scan on the move and attach to new access points on the go. I have the scanning and calculation of the best signal working. But when it comes to attaching to the best access point I am having trouble. It appears that enableNetwork(netid, othersTrueFalse) is the only method for attaching to an Access point but this causes problems as from my Scan Results I am not able to get the id of the access point with the strongest signal. This is my code: public void doWifiScan(){ scanTask = new TimerTask() { public void run() { handler.post(new Runnable() { public void run() { sResults = wifiManager.scan(getBaseContext()); if(sResults!=null) Log.d("TIMER", "sResults count" + sResults.size()); ScanResult scan = wifiManager.calculateBestAP(sResults); wifiManager.addNewAccessPoint(scan); } }); }}; t.schedule(scanTask, 3000, 30000); } public ScanResult calculateBestAP(List<ScanResult> sResults){ ScanResult bestSignal = null; for (ScanResult result : sResults) { if (bestSignal == null || WifiManager.compareSignalLevel(bestSignal.level, result.level) < 0) bestSignal = result; } String message = String.format("%s networks found. %s is the strongest. %s is the bsid", sResults.size(), bestSignal.SSID, bestSignal.BSSID); Log.d("sResult", message); return bestSignal; } public void addNewAccessPoint(ScanResult scanResult){ WifiConfiguration wc = new WifiConfiguration(); wc.SSID = '\"' + scanResult.SSID + '\"'; //wc.preSharedKey = "\"password\""; wc.hiddenSSID = true; wc.status = WifiConfiguration.Status.ENABLED; wc.allowedGroupCiphers.set(WifiConfiguration.GroupCipher.TKIP); wc.allowedGroupCiphers.set(WifiConfiguration.GroupCipher.CCMP); wc.allowedKeyManagement.set(WifiConfiguration.KeyMgmt.WPA_PSK); wc.allowedPairwiseCiphers.set(WifiConfiguration.PairwiseCipher.TKIP); wc.allowedPairwiseCiphers.set(WifiConfiguration.PairwiseCipher.CCMP); wc.allowedProtocols.set(WifiConfiguration.Protocol.RSN); int res = mainWifi.addNetwork(wc); Log.d("WifiPreference", "add Network returned " + res ); boolean b = mainWifi.enableNetwork(res, false); Log.d("WifiPreference", "enableNetwork returned " + b ); } When I try to use addNewAccessPoint(ScanResult scanResult) it just adds another AP to the list in the settings application with the same name as the one with the best signal, so I end up with loads of duplicates and not actually attaching to them. Can anyone point me in the direction of a better solution?

  • SHAREPOINT: Custom Field type property storage defined for custom field

    - by Eric Rockenbach
    ok here is a great question. I have a set of generic custom fields that are highly configurable from an end user perspective and the configuration is getting overbearing as there are nearly 100 plus items each custom field allows you to perform in the areas of Server/Client Validation, Server/Client Events/Actions, Server/Client Bindings parent/child, display properties for form/control, etc, etc. Right now I'm storing most of these values as "Text" in my field xml for my propertyschema. I'm very familiar with the multi column value, but this is not a complex custom type in sense it's an array. I also considered creating serilzable objects and stuffing them into the text field and then pulling out and de-serilizing them when editing through the field editor or acting on the rules through the custom spfield. So I'm trying to take the following for example <PropertySchema> <Fields> <Field Name="EntityColumnName" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="EntityColumnName" MaxLength="500" DisplaySize="200" Type="Text"> <default></default> </Field> <Field Name="EntityColumnParentPK" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="EntityColumnParentPK" MaxLength="500" DisplaySize="200" Type="Text"> <default></default> </Field> <Field Name="EntityColumnValueName" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="EntityColumnValueName" MaxLength="500" DisplaySize="200" Type="Text"> <default></default> </Field> <Field Name="EntityListName" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="EntityListName" MaxLength="500" DisplaySize="200" Type="Text"> <default></default> </Field> <Field Name="EntitySiteUrl" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="EntitySiteUrl" MaxLength="500" DisplaySize="200" Type="Text"> <default></default> </Field> </Fields> <PropertySchema> And turn it into this... <PropertySchema> <Fields> <Field Name="ServerValidationRules" Hidden="TRUE" DisplayName="ServerValidationRules" Type="ServerValidationRulesType"> <default></default> </Field> </Fields> <PropertySchema> Ideas?????

  • Is it possible to programatically catch JavaScript SyntaxErrors?

    - by Matty
    I don't think that this is doable, but wanted to throw it out to the community to confirm my suspicions. Let's say you're writing a program in another language like Python, PHP, or ASP. This program is intended to build another program written in JavaScript. However, the first program is unfortunately not immune to errors. So, occasionally, the program which builds the JavaScript program does some funky stuff and outputs a syntax error in the JavaScript source. Now some user goes and loads the program and it essentially halts, because the web browser running it can't properly parse the JavaScript. This user is probably not going to be happy. I wouldn't be. This brings me to my question. Is it possible to write an error handler that would catch these kind of syntax problems allowing the application to fail gracefully? Here's an example: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> window.onerror = errorHandler; function errorHandler(a,b,c) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } vara jfs; </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html> or <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> try { vara jfs; } catch (e) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html>

  • Lucene: Wildcards are missing from index

    - by Eleasar
    Hi - i am building a search index that contains special names - containing ! and ? and & and + and ... I have to tread the following searches different: me & you me + you But whatever i do (did try with queryparser escaping before indexing, escaped it manually, tried different indexers...) - if i check the search index with Luke they do not show up (question marks and @-symbols and the like show up) The logic behind is that i am doing partial searches for a live suggestion (and the fields are not that large) so i split it up into "m" and "me" and "+" and "y" and "yo" and "you" and then index it (that way it is way faster than a wildcard query search (and the index size is not a big problem). So what i would need is to also have this special wildcard characters be inserted into the index. This is my code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Lucene.Net.Analysis; using Lucene.Net.Util; namespace AnalyzerSpike { public class CustomAnalyzer : Analyzer { public override TokenStream TokenStream(string fieldName, TextReader reader) { return new ASCIIFoldingFilter(new LowerCaseFilter(new CustomCharTokenizer(reader))); } } public class CustomCharTokenizer : CharTokenizer { public CustomCharTokenizer(TextReader input) : base(input) { } public CustomCharTokenizer(AttributeSource source, TextReader input) : base(source, input) { } public CustomCharTokenizer(AttributeFactory factory, TextReader input) : base(factory, input) { } protected override bool IsTokenChar(char c) { return c != ' '; } } } The code to create the index: private void InitIndex(string path, Analyzer analyzer) { var writer = new IndexWriter(path, analyzer, true); //some multiline textbox that contains one item per line: var all = new List<string>(txtAllAvailable.Text.Replace("\r","").Split('\n')); foreach (var item in all) { writer.AddDocument(GetDocument(item)); } writer.Optimize(); writer.Close(); } private static Document GetDocument(string name) { var doc = new Document(); doc.Add(new Field( "name", DeNormalizeName(name), Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.ANALYZED)); doc.Add(new Field( "raw_name", name, Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.NOT_ANALYZED)); return doc; } (Code is with Lucene.net in version 1.9.x (EDIT: sorry - was 2.9.x) but is compatible with Lucene from Java) Thx

  • WCF Self Host Service - Endpoints in C#

    - by Kyle
    My first few attempts at creating a self hosted service. Trying to make something up which will accept a query string and return some text but have have a few issues: All the documentation talks about endpoints being created automatically for each base address if they are not found in a config file. This doesn't seem to be the case for me, I get the "Service has zero application endpoints..." exception. Manually specifying a base endpoint as below seems to resolve this: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.ServiceModel; using System.ServiceModel.Description; namespace TestService { [ServiceContract] public interface IHelloWorldService { [OperationContract] string SayHello(string name); } public class HelloWorldService : IHelloWorldService { public string SayHello(string name) { return string.Format("Hello, {0}", name); } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { string baseaddr = "http://localhost:8080/HelloWorldService/"; Uri baseAddress = new Uri(baseaddr); // Create the ServiceHost. using (ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(typeof(HelloWorldService), baseAddress)) { // Enable metadata publishing. ServiceMetadataBehavior smb = new ServiceMetadataBehavior(); smb.HttpGetEnabled = true; smb.MetadataExporter.PolicyVersion = PolicyVersion.Policy15; host.Description.Behaviors.Add(smb); host.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IHelloWorldService), new BasicHttpBinding(), baseaddr + "SayHello"); //for some reason a default endpoint does not get created here host.Open(); Console.WriteLine("The service is ready at {0}", baseAddress); Console.WriteLine("Press to stop the service."); Console.ReadLine(); // Close the ServiceHost. host.Close(); } } } } I still think I'm doing something wrong as I don't get the normal "This is a web service...etc..." page when I load up the url How would I go about setting this up to return the value of name in SayHello(string name) when requested thusly: localhost:8080/HelloWorldService/SayHello?name=kyle Do I have to create an endpoing for the SayHello contract as well? I'm trying to walk before running, but this just seems like crawling...Service has zero application endpoints...

  • ASP.Net Checkbox value at postback is wrong?

    - by Duracell
    We have a checkbox that is initially disabled and checked. It is then enabled on the client side through javascript. If the user then unchecks the box and presses the button to invoke a postback, the state of the checkbox remains as checked on the server side. This is obviously undesirable behaviour. Here is an example. <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="testcb.aspx.cs" Inherits="ESC.testcb" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <script type="text/javascript"> function buttonClick() { var cb = document.getElementById('<%= CheckBox1.ClientID %>'); cb.disabled = false; cb.parentNode.disabled = false; } </script> <div> <asp:CheckBox ID="CheckBox1" runat="server" Checked="true" Enabled="false" /> <asp:Button ID="Button1" runat="server" Text="Button" OnClientClick="buttonClick(); return false;" /> <asp:Button ID="Button2" runat="server" Text="Button2" OnClick="button2Click" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> And the Server-side code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; namespace ESC { public partial class testcb : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } protected void button2Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string h = ""; } } } So we break at the "string h" line and check the value of CheckBox1.Checked. It is true, even if it is unchecked on the form.

  • Odd "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" involving xWinForms

    - by Kyle
    Hey, I've been trying to get the xWinForms 3.0 library (a library with forms support in xna) working with my C# XNA Game project but I keep getting the same problem. I add the reference to my project, put in the using statement, declare a formCollection variable and then I try to initialize it. whenever I run the project I get stopped on this line: formCollection = new FormCollection(this.Window, Services, ref graphics); it gives me the error: " System.NullReferenceException was unhandled Message="Object reference not set to an instance of an object." • Serialization problem

    - by Falcon eyes
    Hi Every body I have a problem and want help. I have created a phonebook application and it works fine after a awhile i liked to make an upgrade for my application and i started from scratch i didn't inherit it from my old class,and i successes too ,my request "I want to migrate my contacts from the old application to the new one" ,so i made an adapter class for this reason in my new application with the following code using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.IO; using System.Windows.Forms; using System.Runtime.Serialization; using System.Runtime.Serialization.Formatters.Binary; namespace PhoneBook { class Adapter { PhoneRecord PhRecord; //the new application object CTeleRecord TelRecord; //the old application object string fileName; public Adapter(string filename) { fileName = filename; } public void convert() { PhRecord = new PhoneRecord(); TelRecord = new CTeleRecord(); FileStream OpFileSt = new FileStream(fileName, FileMode.Open,FileAccess.Read); BinaryFormatter readBin = new BinaryFormatter(); for (; ; ) { try { TelRecord.ResetTheObject(); TelRecord = (CTeleRecord)readBin.Deserialize(OpFileSt); PhRecord.SetName = TelRecord.GetName; PhRecord.SetHomeNumber = TelRecord.GetHomeNumber; PhRecord.SetMobileNumber = TelRecord.GetMobileNumber; PhRecord.SetWorkNumber = TelRecord.GetWorkNumber; PhRecord.SetSpecialNumber = TelRecord.GetSpecialNumber; PhRecord.SetEmail = TelRecord.GetEmail; PhRecord.SetNotes = TelRecord.GetNotes; PhBookContainer.phBookItems.Add(PhRecord); } catch (IOException xxx) { MessageBox.Show(xxx.Message); } catch (ArgumentException tt) { MessageBox.Show(tt.Message); } //if end of file is reached catch (SerializationException x) { MessageBox.Show(x.Message + x.Source); break; } } OpFileSt.Close(); PhBookContainer.Save(@"d:\MyPhBook.pbf"); } } } the problem is when i try to read the file ctreated by my old application i receive serialization exception with this message "Unabel to find assembly 'PhoneBook,Version=1.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicK eyToken=null" and the source of exceptionis mscorlib. when i read the same file with my old application(Which is the origin of the file)i have no problem and idon't know what to do to make my adapter class work.so can somebody help please.

  • .NET: Interface Problem VB.net Getter Only Interface

    - by snmcdonald
    Why does an interface override a class definition and violate class encapsulation? I have included two samples below, one in C# and one in VB.net? VB.net Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim testInterface As ITest = New TestMe Console.WriteLine(testInterface.Testable) ''// Prints False testInterface.Testable = True ''// Access to Private!!! Console.WriteLine(testInterface.Testable) ''// Prints True Dim testClass As TestMe = New TestMe Console.WriteLine(testClass.Testable) ''// Prints False ''//testClass.Testable = True ''// Compile Error Console.WriteLine(testClass.Testable) ''// Prints False End Sub End Module Public Class TestMe : Implements ITest Private m_testable As Boolean = False Public Property Testable As Boolean Implements ITest.Testable Get Return m_testable End Get Private Set(ByVal value As Boolean) m_testable = value End Set End Property End Class Interface ITest Property Testable As Boolean End Interface C# using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace InterfaceCSTest { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { ITest testInterface = new TestMe(); Console.WriteLine(testInterface.Testable); testInterface.Testable = true; Console.WriteLine(testInterface.Testable); TestMe testClass = new TestMe(); Console.WriteLine(testClass.Testable); //testClass.Testable = true; Console.WriteLine(testClass.Testable); } } class TestMe : ITest { private bool m_testable = false; public bool Testable { get { return m_testable; } private set { m_testable = value; } } } interface ITest { bool Testable { get; set; } } } More Specifically How do I implement a interface in VB.net that will allow for a private setter. For example in C# I can declare: class TestMe : ITest { private bool m_testable = false; public bool Testable { get { return m_testable; } private set //No Compile Error here! { m_testable = value; } } } interface ITest { bool Testable { get; } } However, if I declare an interface property as readonly in VB.net I cannot create a setter. If I create a VB.net interface as just a plain old property then interface declarations will violate my encapsulation. Public Class TestMe : Implements ITest Private m_testable As Boolean = False Public ReadOnly Property Testable As Boolean Implements ITest.Testable Get Return m_testable End Get Private Set(ByVal value As Boolean) ''//Compile Error m_testable = value End Set End Property End Class Interface ITest ReadOnly Property Testable As Boolean End Interface So my question is, how do I define a getter only Interface in VB.net with proper encapsulation? I figured the first example would have been the best method. However, it appears as if interface definitions overrule class definitions. So I tried to create a getter only (Readonly) property like in C# but it does not work for VB.net. Maybe this is just a limitation of the language?

  • synchronizing XML nodes between class and file using C#

    - by Sarah Vessels
    I'm trying to write an IXmlSerializable class that stays synced with an XML file. The XML file has the following format: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <logging> <logLevel>Error</logLevel> </logging> ...potentially other sections... </configuration> I have a DllConfig class for the whole XML file and a LoggingSection class for representing <logging> and its contents, i.e., <logLevel>. DllConfig has this property: [XmlElement(ElementName = LOGGING_TAG_NAME, DataType = "LoggingSection")] public LoggingSection Logging { get; protected set; } What I want is for the backing XML file to be updated (i.e., rewritten) when a property is set. I already have DllConfig do this when Logging is set. However, how should I go about doing this when Logging.LogLevel is set? Here's an example of what I mean: var config = new DllConfig("path_to_backing_file.xml"); config.Logging.LogLevel = LogLevel.Information; // not using Logging setter, but a // setter on LoggingSection, so how // does path_to_backing_file.xml // have its contents updated? My current solution is to have a SyncedLoggingSection class that inherits from LoggingSection and also takes a DllConfig instance in the constructor. It declares a new LogLevel that, when set, updates the LogLevel in the base class and also uses the given DllConfig to write the entire DllConfig out to the backing XML file. Is this a good technique? I don't think I can just serialize SyncedLoggingSection by itself to the backing XML file, because not all of the contents will be written, just the <logging> node. Then I'd end up with an XML file containing only the <logging> section with its updated <logLevel>, instead of the entire config file with <logLevel> updated. Hence, I need to pass an instance of DllConfig to SyncedLoggingSection. It seems almost like I want an event handler, one in DllConfig that would notice when particular properties (i.e., LogLevel) in its properties (i.e., Logging) were set. Is such a thing possible?

  • C# - How to override GetHashCode with Lists in object

    - by Christian
    Hi, I am trying to create a "KeySet" to modify UIElement behaviour. The idea is to create a special function if, eg. the user clicks on an element while holding a. Or ctrl+a. My approach so far, first lets create a container for all possible modifiers. If I would simply allow a single key, it would be no problem. I could use a simple Dictionary, with Dictionary<Keys, Action> _specialActionList If the dictionary is empty, use the default action. If there are entries, check what action to use depending on current pressed keys And if I wasn't greedy, that would be it... Now of course, I want more. I want to allow multiple keys or modifiers. So I created a wrapper class, wich can be used as Key to my dictionary. There is an obvious problem when using a more complex class. Currently two different instances would create two different key, and thereby he would never find my function (see code to understand, really obvious) Now I checked this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/638761/c-gethashcode-override-of-object-containing-generic-array which helped a little. But my question is, is my basic design for the class ok. Should I use a hashset to store the modifier and normal keyboardkeys (instead of Lists). And If so, how would the GetHashCode function look like? I know, its a lot of code to write (boring hash functions), some tips would be sufficient to get me started. Will post tryouts here... And here comes the code so far, the Test obviously fails... public class KeyModifierSet { private readonly List<Key> _keys = new List<Key>(); private readonly List<ModifierKeys> _modifierKeys = new List<ModifierKeys>(); private static readonly Dictionary<KeyModifierSet, Action> _testDict = new Dictionary<KeyModifierSet, Action>(); public static void Test() { _testDict.Add(new KeyModifierSet(Key.A), () => Debug.WriteLine("nothing")); if (!_testDict.ContainsKey(new KeyModifierSet(Key.A))) throw new Exception("Not done yet, help :-)"); } public KeyModifierSet(IEnumerable<Key> keys, IEnumerable<ModifierKeys> modifierKeys) { foreach (var key in keys) _keys.Add(key); foreach (var key in modifierKeys) _modifierKeys.Add(key); } public KeyModifierSet(Key key, ModifierKeys modifierKey) { _keys.Add(key); _modifierKeys.Add(modifierKey); } public KeyModifierSet(Key key) { _keys.Add(key); } }
