  • Checkbox not checking inside div in Firefox

    - by mike
Weird problem. I don't know if anyone can shed some light on this? I have a checkbox inside a div. It works fine in IE but not Firefox. I have to click the space around the checkbox that is occupied by the div (sort of like a label) for the checkbox to tick on and off. Directly clicking the checkbox does not show it as ticked on or off, even though in firebug it is showing that it is in a checked state and an unchecked state. Only in FF does this happen.....

I'm learning Javascript right now. Can anybody tell me why the second code block traces a empty path for -launch(this)- but using the first code block it gives me the right path? "<form action='"+launchwebsite+"/subsite/' method='post' target='_blank' onsubmit='launch(this)'>" and this not: "<a onclick='launch(this)' title='launch' class='iblack' /></a></div>" Best Uli

  • how to make a border area go around the content of a page where there is a footer fixed to the bottom of the page and an header fixed to the top

    - by user277498
consider the following: http://jsfiddle.net/PxabT/10/ There are 3 divs hd, bd, ft. hd is fixed to the top. ft is fixed to the bottom. I want the lime colored border to go totally around the white central area without increasing the height of the ft or hd divs. How do I achieve that? Many thanks! edit: see http://jsfiddle.net/PxabT/15/ which is a step forward by changing the borders to padding.

  • Dictionary to Json object, "Expected expression"

    - by MrW
I'm trying to convert a dictionery into a json object, so that I can work with it in my front end. sortFields = <%= SchrodersHtmlHelper.ToJson(ViewData["SortInfo"])%>; However, I keep on getting "Expected expression" for this all the time and I'm clueless why. Could anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Edit: The conversion works fine, but I still get this issue in the front end, causing the browser to complain about it.

  • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

    - by Kevin
I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing. Could anybody please assist me with figuring out why the site isn't displaying properly in IE, and how to fix it? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Site: WebuildCAhomes dot com

  • Setting CSS attributes on Change using jQuery

    - by Nick B
I want to change css visibility and display attributes using jQuery on click when the state of another div's visibility attribute changes. (Many apologies for the obfuscated markup, but needing to manipulate someone else's construction): There are four instances of [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"] in this page. I want to set [data-label="trash"] and [data-label="Sort Options"] to visibility: visible; display: [empty value] when any of the [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"]'s attributes changes to 'visibility', 'visible'. Else, if none of [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"]'s have the attribute 'visibility', 'visible', I want to set [data-label="trash"] and [data-label="Sort Options"] back to their initial states: display: none; visibility: hidden;. Here's the markup: <div data-label="Sort Options" style="display: none; visibility: hidden;"> <div data-label="trash" style="display: none; visibility: hidden;"></div> </div> <div data-label="Checkbox"> <div data-label="Unchecked"></div> <div data-label="Checked" style="display: none; visibility: hidden;"></div> </div> Here is what I have tried unsuccessfully: $('[data-label="Checkbox"]').click(function() { if ('[data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"]').css('visibility', 'visible') { $('[data-label="trash"], [data-label="Sort Options"]').css({'display': '', 'visibility': 'visible'}); } else { $('[data-label="trash"], [data-label="Sort Options"]').css({'display': 'none', 'visibility': 'hidden'}); } }); Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  • How to override "inherited" z-indexes?

    - by Earlz
    I am needing to override the notion of inherited z-indexes. For instance in this code <style> div{ background-color:white; top: 0px; bottom: 0px; left: 0px; right: 0px; } </style> <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 2;"> div 1 <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 3;"> div 2 </div> </div> <div style="position: fixed; z-index: 2;"> div 3 </div> http://jsbin.com/epoqo3/3 I want for div 2 to be displayed, but instead div 3 is displayed. How can I change this behavior without changing my structure.

  • JQuery form validator that is W3C Valid

    - by Rudiger
Im doing some form validation on a website and I've tried to use JQuery Validator and it works find but isn't valid as it uses custom attributes. I've tried every which way to make it valid but it seems besides some other custom javascript, which is not an option, it isn't valid. Has anyone come across one that is valid? Or some other way to make it valid? I've tried custom dtds, adding the attribute to the doctype but that leaves a ] on the page. Cheers

  • How do I cancel a text selection after the initial mousedown event?

    - by cwillu-gmail
I'm trying to implement a pop-up menu based on a click-and-hold, positioned so that a (really) slow click will still trigger the default action, and with the delay set so that a text-selection gesture won't usually trigger the menu. What I can't seem to do is cancel the text-selection in a way that doesn't prevent text-selection in the first place: returning false from the event handler (or calling $(this).preventDefault()) prevents the user from selecting at all, and the obvious $().trigger('mouseup') doesn't doesn't do anything with the selection at all. This is in the general context of a page, not particular to a textarea or other text field. e.stopPropogation() doesn't cancel text-selection. I'm not looking to prevent text selections, but rather to veto them after some short period of time, if certain conditions are met.

  • form validation with jquery and livevalidation

    - by ImpY
    I'm trying to do some form validation with livevaldation & jquery. I've a formular with an input field like that: <div id="prenameDiv" class="control-group"> `<input id="prename" name="prename" class="input-large" placeholder="Max" >` </div> So if there's an error on validation 'livevalidaton' adds the class 'LV_invalid_field' to the input - it looks like that: <div id="prenameDiv" class="control-group"> <input id="prename" name="prename" class="input-large LV_invalid_field" placeholder="Max" > </div> That's ok, but now I'll add another class 'error' to the div 'prenameDiv' when the DOM changes that it looks like that: <div id="prenameDiv" class="control-group error"> `<input id="prename" name="prename" class="input-large LV_invalid_field" placeholder="Max" ` </div> I tried it that way: if ($("#prenameDiv").bind("DOMSubtreeModified")){ `if ($("#prename").hasClass("LV_invalid_field")) {` $("#prenameDiv").addClass("error"); } } But nothing changes? Do you have some ideas?

  • Add a hover effect to all elements of a class [closed]

    - by Em Sta
    I made a simple website, it looks like this: But, as you can see, the hover effect only works on where the mouse actually is! (here ipsum) But my aim is that the hover works on all elements! So i added a class with the hover effect p.hov:hover, but see it yourself: <span id="motha"> <blockquote> <p class="hov">Lorem</p> <p class="hov" >ipsum</p> <p class="hov" >dolor</p> <p class="hov" >sit</p> <p class="hov" >amen</p> </blockquote> </span> p { color:#f2f2f2; background:#ff4a4a; font-size: 75px; line-height: 74px; font-weight:700; margin: 0 5px 24px; float:left; padding: 10px; margin: 0 5px 24px; font-family: 'Route', serif; } p.hov:hover {box-shadow: 1px 1px #666, 2px 2px #666, 3px 3px #666;} Sorry for my english! • jquery .blur for entire block of HTML

    - by Stacey
I have an HTML item for a 'drop down menu', structured like this... <li class="ui-dropdown-list" > <a href="#">Right Drop Down Menu</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> <li><a href="#">Item</a></li> </ul> </li> Using jQuery to make this a dropdown list, with the following code. jQuery.fn.dropdown = function () { var defaults = { button: null, menu: null, visible: false }; var options = $.extend(defaults, options); return this.each(function () { options.button = $(this); options.menu = $(this).find("ul"); // when the parent is clicked, determine whether dropdown needs to occur options.button.click(function () { options.visible ? lift(options.menu) : drop(options.menu); options.visible = !options.visible; }); // drop the menu down so that it can be seen. function drop(e) { options.button.addClass("open"); options.menu.show(); } // lift the menu up, hiding it from view. function lift(e) { options.menu.hide(); options.button.removeClass('open'); } }); }; I am trying to wire it up so that if the user clicks anywhere outside of the menu, it will collapse it. This is proving much more difficult than I anticipated; even trying to use page level events. Any suggestions? The menu itself never really 'receives' focus, so using .blur doesn't seem to be suiting the purpose.
