    I am trying to write greek characters to a file using java like this: String greek = "\u03c1\u03ae\u03bc. \u03c7\u03b1\u03b9\u03c1\u03b5\u03c4\u03ce"; try { BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("E:\\properties\\outfilename.txt")); out.write(greek); out.close(); } catch (IOException e) { } Not working. Tried to use javac -encoding ISO-8859-7. Also tried java -Dfile.encoding=ISO-8859-7. Assuming that as I do not have greek font in my pc, I downloaded achillies (greek font - Ach4.ttf).Installed it by going to control panel fonts. Any ideas?

    Hi, I'm trying to use JRuby in a custom application, and I don't seem to be able to load the JRubyEngine object.   • Strange permission errors with Windows Server 2008

    I just don't know a better way to describe my issue that is driving me nuts. I am trying to establish a test domain with virtual machines on a box that has Win7 with VMwware workstation installed. The purpouse with this domain will be so that we can try and test different situations before they go into the production network. I build a VM with WinSrv2008R2 and I am using that VM as a template to make other servers for the domain by making clones of it. Now I raise a DC with one clone and a member server with another clone - I add the server to the domain. I am following a standard procedure as always (it is not my first domain). Then I make an admin account and I am adding the admin to be a member of the Domain and Enterprise Admins group. That admin is admin with full priviledges on the DC.. no problem there. But on the other server has ... somewhat half the privileges and I cant log in via RDP. I tryed with another account. Same issues. For example (with half the privileges): I can't open the Even Viewer if I go via Start - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. But I can open the Even Viewer via the server manager. You can notice this on the image below. I mean WTF??? I am going crazy, I haven't experienced anything similar in my three years of expertise. I already lost 3 days troubleshooting this. Could this be related with the cloning? Perhaps if I make fresh installs of WinSrv2008 there won't be any problems? I've had raised test domains as VMs on other occasions before, and there weren't any problems then. This is VMware Workstation 8. I've made clones before, on Workstation 7 it didn't had any problems. Anyone has any ideas? UPDATE: This is the info from the event log when I try to access via RDP: An account failed to log on. When I try to put the files on an external hard drive it says that they are too large to transfer (each file is about 8 gigs). Just trying to figure out the best way to do this transfer. Alas, when I try that web sites still remember me in the window of the new session. Any ideas what's wrong in my setup? Thanks!

  • Can a http server detect that a client has cancelled their request?

    My web app must process and serve a lot of data to display certain pages. Sometimes, the user closes or refreshes a page while the server is still busy processing it. This means the server will continue to process data for several minutes only to send it to a client who is no longer listening. Is it possible to detect that the connection has been broken, and react to it? In this particular project, we're using Django and NginX, or Apache. I assumed this is possible because the Django development server appears to react to cancelled requests by printing Broken Pipe exceptions. I'd love to have it raise an exception that my application code could catch. Alternatively, I could register an unload event handler on the page in question, have it do a synchronous XHR requesting that the previous request from this user be cancelled, and do some kind of inter-process communication to make it so. Perhaps if the slower data processing were handed to another process that I could more easily identify and kill, without killing the responding process...

    I am adding images to a JPanel but the images are getting cut off. I was originally trying BorderLayout but that only worked for one image and adding others added image cut-off. So I switched to other layouts and the best and closest I could get was BoxLayout however that adds a very large cut-off which is not acceptable either.   • Problem connecting to SSH in office network

    I have trouble connecting via SSH to a server whenever I am in the office. I get as far as being prompted for my password and then after that there's a long wait which always ends in a Write failed: Broken pipe This is only for connecting via SSH. I use svn to commit files to a repository hosted on the same server and there are no hitches. Furthermore, this only happens in our office. When I go the university or whenever I am at home or at the coffee shop I am able to connect seamlessly. There are no firewalls in our office. It's just a basic wireless router connected to a modem setup. It's the same setup I have at home and I guess the same setup in the coffee shop. What are the causes for a broken pipe and why does this phenomenon only happen when I try connect via SSH and not when I work with svn on the same server? I can't type into the terminal. Is Putty the culprit now?

    I'm interested in whether there is a way to monitor HTTP(S) traffic on an Android phone? What I would like to do is to be able to retrieve all URLs that have been accessed on the phone's browser. I thought that there would be a browser intent for that, but have not seen anything - given I'm green, maybe I just did not know where to look? I followed the question and answer here, but it works only for hyperlinks which were clicked by the user, however I need to catch all URLs - including the ones typed in by the user. Basically I need to know about every single URL that was opened in the web browser. Can I register some kind of a handler with the browser? Is something like that feasible at all?

  • w3wp.exe in ASP.NET production app is using 100% CPU. How to find the problem ?

    Hi, we have an asp.net app in production where w3wp.exe is taking 100% CPU ( 4 cores - 4 threads at 25% ) and cpu load never goes down until we recycle the application pool ( the app is alone in the application pool ). Our error log has nothing, there is no exceptions being emitted ( or at least we don't catch them ) so we suspect it's code problem ( infinite loop / deadlock ). The problem only arises after some hours running with high load ( several thousand users ). There is any way to profile one of the EXISTING threads that is causing cpu load ? After taking a look to JetBrains's DotTrace Profiler seems like it's not possible for limitations of Profiling API and man, we haven't get to reproduce the problem in our testing environment. The app uses SQL Server 2005, LINQ2SQL and System.Transactions API. Any suggestion to find the problem ?

From the command line I try: mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o credentials=credfile The contents of credfile is: username=Administrator password=What@zR\!p3s When I run the above mount command I get "Access Denied". However if I run the following command it works: mount.cifs //server/share /mnt/share -o username=Administrator,password=What@zR\!p3s Please note the "\" is to escape the bang and I've tried this with and without it in the credentials file. Any suggestions?

  • server 2008 r2 - wbadmin systemstatebackup - system writer not found in the backup

    I am trying to manually run a systemstatebackup command on my server 2008 r2 box and I am getting an error code '2155347997' when I view the backup event log details. The command line tells me that I have log files written to the c:\windows\logs\windowsserverbackup\ path but I have no files of the .log type there. My command window tells me "System Writer is not found in the backup". However when I run vssadmin list writers I find System Writer in the list and it shows normal status with no last errors stored. I am running this from an elevated command prompt as well as from a logged on administrator account. My backup target path has permission for network service to have full control and it has plenty of free space. Looking in eventlog I have two VSS error 8194 that happen immediately before the Backup error 517 which has the errorcode 2155347997 listed. All three of these errors are a result of trying to run the command for the systemstatebackup. It's my belief that some VSS related permission is failing and exiting the backup process before it ever gets started. Because of this the initial code that creates the log files must not be running and this is why I have no files. When running the systemstatebackup command from the command prompt and watching the windowsserverbackup directory I do see that I have a Wbadmin.0.etl file which gets created but it is deleted when the backup errors out and stops. I have looked online and there are numerous opinions as to the cause of this error. These are the things I have corrected to try and fix this issue before posting here: Machine runs a HP 1410i smart array controller but at one time also used a LSI scsi card. Used networkadminkb.com's kb# a467 to find one LSI_SCSI entry in HKLMSysCurrentControlSetServices which start was set to 0x0 and I modified to 0x3. No changes. In HKLMSystemCurrentControlSetServicesVSSDiag I gave network service full control where it previously only had "Special Permission". No changes. I followed KB2009272 to manually try to fix system writer. These are all of the things I have tried. What else should I look at to resolve this issue? It may be important to note that I run Mozy Pro on this server and that was known in the past to use VSS for copying operations and it occasionally threw an error. However since an update last year those error event log entries have stopped.

  • xp stop error 50 page fault in non paged area

    I have a laptop that fails to boot with the BSOD error: "page_fault_in_non_paged_area" STOP: 0x00000050 (0xEC6B738D, 0x00000000, 0x8649308C, 0x00000000) The laptop has 2 memory DIMMs. I removed each DIMM one at a time and the error remained with just one DIMM installed. I have run spinrite 6.0 on the hard drive no errors found. Booted to recovery mode and ran CHKDSK /R, it found and fixed errors but still gets the stop error. Any other suggestions to try?
