  • Real time web mashup

    Apart from the legal issues.. I'd like to create a website that is the exact copy of another website (I do not own but I know will let me do this) where I change a few things, mainly swap images and hide some divs.. So my "website".. how should I build it? I thought something like an Iframe and javascript but I have no idea if this makes sense.. any idea?

  • Can I use "map" as a substitute for "for each"/"for in"?

    For a little while now javascript has the "map" function to loop over arrays. It appears possible to use it as a 'foreach' operator for example: var arr = ['a','b','c'] var doubles = arr.map(function(val){ return val + val }) Is this better or worse than saying for(var i in arr){ ... 50/50: saves having to use the index but adds a callback; it doesn't seem very common so I hesitate to use it but still want to.

  • Is there a way to get a mobile Safari WebApp to "forget" its state?

    I have a nascent bridge scoring app that is meant to be stored locally on an iPod touch/iPhone (iPad? Would probably be fugly...) So far so good, got a custom icon rolling and basic JS navigation laid out, but my problem is that it retains its state when I quit the app. Is there a simple magic Apple meta tag for this? Or is it achieved with javascript? Thanks for any insight.

    I'm trying to get my Javascript code 100% JSLint clean. I've got some JS code that I've lifted from elsewhere to create a UUID. That code has the following line: s[16] = hexDigits.substr((s[16] & 0x3) | 0x8, 1); This line incites JSLint to generate two error messages: 1) Unexpected use of '&' 2) Unexpected use of '|' I don't understand why -- I'd appreciate counsel regarding how to recode to eliminate the error message.

  • Is it possible to resize text to fit a fixed size div?

    This seems like a pretty natural use case to me, though I haven't been able to find anything on it: Say I have a fixed-width div that is dynamically populated with some number. What's the best way to ensure that numbers with more digits take smaller font sizes such that they fit nicely into that fixed width? Is there some CSS property for this, or do I have to resort to Javascript hackage?

    Am getting a GMT time from my server in this format Fri, 18 Oct 2013 11:38:23 GMT My requirement is to convert this time to local time using Javascript, eg:/ if the user is from India, first i need to take the time zone +5.30 and add that to my servertime and convert the time string to the following format 2013-10-18 16:37:06 I tried with following code but not working var date = new Date('Fri, 18 Oct 2013 11:38:23 GMT'); date.toString(); Please help me to solve this issue, Thanks in advance

  • Track only iframe history

    I have a page which contains an iframe and I want to track the history of the iframe only. For instance, I went to another site in the main window and came back to my iframe test site.     i have a set of hyperlinks with href = javascript:method('category1') and likewise category2 category3 ... I want to select hyperlink with href containing category1 so i have written jQuery(a[href*='category1']) but dont know why it also selects hyperlinks with category10 category11 category12 ... also I understand that category1 is common in all of them but 'category1' should'nt be do i need to put ' with escape charaters.

For some reason this come is making a mess of things. I want to push: <p>DDDDDD</p> But instead it's pushing: [{"guideid":"1","guideitemtext":"<p>\u000a\u0009u000au0009DDDDDD</p>\u000a"}] Any ideas?
