Passing parameters to a delphi TFrame

To avoid singletons and global variables I'd like to be able to pass parameters to a TFrame component. However since a TFrame normally is included on form at design time it is only possible to use the default constructor. The parent form can of course set some properties in the OnCreate callback after the TFrame has been created. However this does not ensure that a property is not forgotten, and the dependencies are not as clear as using a constructor. A nice way would be if it was possible to register a factory for creating components while the dfm file is being read. Then the required parameters could be passed to the TFrame constructor when created by the factory. Is there a way of accomplishing this? Or does anyone have a better solution on how to pass parameters to a TFrame?

I am modelling a DVD Rental Store: A Client gives its clientNumber to the System. The System checks whenever the given clientNumber is valid. The Client gives the name of the DVD he wants to rent. ... n. ...I will later have to form an association between a new instance of "RentDVD" class concept to the current Client c. My Domain Model is something like: I've made the Contract for the first and second operations as: Preconditions: none Postconditions: there exists a Client c such that c.clientNumber = clientNumber. Now, I don't know if I should form an association between this Client c and the DVDStore(that I intend to use as front-end). If I don't make the association, how will I later be able to "reference" this same Client? Should I be making an association between Client and a different concept? Thanks

java.util.Date.toString() is printing out wrong format

The following code prints out "vmtDataOrig.creationdate=2012-11-03" VmtData vmtDataOrig = VmtDataDao.getInstance().loadVmt(1); System.out.println("vmtDataOrig.creationdate=" + vmtDataOrig.getCreationDate().toString()); Here is the definition of the creationDate field in the VmtData class: private Date creationDate = null; Here is the hibernate mapping of the creationDate field to the database table column: <property name="creationDate" column="CREATIONDATE" type="date"/> The CREATIONDATE column in the MySQL database table is of type "date", and for the record retrieved it has the value "2012-11-03". The Javadoc for the java.util.Date.toString() method says it is supposed to print the Date object in the form "dow mon dd hh:mm:ss zzz yyyy". Anyone know why it is printing it out in the form "yyyy-MM-dd"?

transfer parameter to next request

I have a situation where clicking a link in one column on the datatable opens A update FORM in the same page. The problem is when I hit the submit button for update, the render is set to false again of that update panel which was previously set true by parameter passed clicking the link. I tried htmlhiddenInput and did setValue and getvalue but the value is lost. Is there any way I can save that parameter send from link, when clicked, even after submitting the form. I achieved it doing session but I dont wanna use session. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Problem with onscreen keyboard on Droid

Hi all i am developing an application which has a general text entry form. So while testing on my moto droid, i am facing a strange issue-- when i touch an input field ( which is at lower end of the screen) -- the on screen keyboard pops up and hides the input field. So user have to enter blindly. So is this a sdk issue OR it is particular for droids OR am i doing something wrong??? I have tested this same form on G1, Hero..i see no issues at all. Please help...

How to replace all id attributes of a child collection of complex types using jQuery in ASP.net MVC

Here's my situation: I'm writing an ASP.net MVC 1 website and I have a create/edit form that uses the default model binding to parse the form into a strongly typed complex object. The object I'm posting has a child collection of another complex type and the way I format my id's for the model binder is as follows: <div class="childContainer" >  <%= Html.TextBox("ChildCollectionName[0].ChildPropertyName", /* blah blah */ ) %> <%= Html.TextBox("ChildCollectionName[0].OtherChildPropertyName", /* blah blah */ ) %>  </div> This gets rendered as <div class="childContainer" > <input id="ChildCollectionName[0]_ChildPropertyName" ... /> <input id="ChildCollectionName[0]_OtherChildPropertyName" ... /> ... </div> <div class="childContainer" > <input id="ChildCollectionName[1]_ChildPropertyName" ... /> <input id="ChildCollectionName[1]_OtherChildPropertyName" ... /> ... </div> For each entry in the chlid collection. This collection is dynamically created in the form using jQuery, so entries can be added, removed etc. and whenever there's an operation on the collection I need to update the indexes so that it's bound correctly on the server side. What's the best way to replace all the html input id's when I'm updating the index within the child e.g. replace all [*] -- [N] where N is the correct index. using jQuery / JavaScript ? I have something coded now, but its buggy and I think there is a simpler solution. Also, if you have an easier way to identify the child collection I'll take any advice on that as well. Thanx!

Is there a better way to serially submit multiple AJAX requests?

I have a page with multiple forms that I submit via Ajax POSTs serially. At first, I tried using synchronous XHR requests, but this causes the browser to lock up for the duration of the request, and breaks my DOM-manipulation effects, which is unacceptable. So the pattern I ended up using is basically this: var fcount = 0; // incremented for each form to be submitted function submit_form( num ) { var fdata = { ... }; // data from form # num $.ajax( { async: true, url: '/index.cgi', data: fdata, type: 'POST', success: function() { if ( num < fcount ) { submit_form( ++num ); } } } ); } $( '#submit_form_btn' ).click( function() { submit_form( 1 ) } ); The recursion strikes me as a bit of an ugly solution to what is essentially an iterative problem. Is there a cleaner or more elegant way that this could be handled?

mod_rewrite rule to work with get method

I'm using this rule: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1 [L] and in public folder I use: $url = $_GET['url']; when I try to acess something on url using slash or it works fine and I get: /cities/display/45 => Array ( [0] => cities [1] => display [2] => 45) But when I try to submit a form, i'm not able to acces the data: /cities/?field1=value1&field2=value2 => Array ( [0] => cities) How can I solve this? I need a rule that also gets form's submited values Thanks

JQuery Validate Dynamic Table

I'm using the JQuery validation plug to validate my entire form. I also have a dynamic table on my registration page where the user can register more people. I can validate the rest of the form fine but my goal is to validate the table inputs just the same. Here is my jfiddle code: tables I don't know why the add line won't work there but it definitely works on my page. Anyway, that code ends up validate ONLY the first row of my table, but I want it to validate every single row. Can anyone see any problems with the code?

Here is what I do: create a VCL Forms application. add the german language. add the german translation of the form caption using the translator. set my active language preference to german (project-language-set active...). build and run and I still get the english form caption. There is no xxx.deu file created. What am I doing wrong?

ASP.NET MVC: How can I explain an invalid type violation to an end-user with Html.ValidationSummary?

Serious n00b warning here; please take mercy! So I finished the Nerd Dinner MVC Tutorial and I'm now in the process of converting a VB.NET application to ASP.NET MVC using the Nerd Dinner program as a sort of rough template. I am using the "IsValid / GetRuleViolations()" pattern to identify invalid user input or values that violate business rules. I am using LINQ to SQL and am taking advantage of the "OnValidate()" hook that allows me to run the validation and throw an application exception upon trying to save changes to the database via the CustomerRepository class. Anyway, everything works well, except that by the time the form values reach my validation method invalid types have already been converted to a default or existing value. (I have a "StreetNumber" property that is an integer, though I imagine this would be a problem for DateTime or any other non-strings as well.) Now, I am guessing that the UpdateModel() method throws an exception and then alters the value because the Html.ValidationMessage is displayed next to the StreetNumber field but my validation method never sees the original input. There are two problems with this: While the Html.ValidationMessage does signal that something is wrong, there is no corresponding entry in the Html.ValidationSummary. If I could even get the exception message to show up there indicating an invalid cast or something that would be better than nothing. My validation method which resides in my Customer partial class never sees the original user input so I do not know if the problem is a missing entry or an invalid type. I can't figure out how I can keep my validation logic nice and neat in one place and still get access to the form values. I could of course write some logic in the View that processes the user input, however that seems like the exact opposite of what I should be doing with MVC. Do I need a new validation pattern or is there some way to pass the original form values to my model class for processing? Floated DIVs not flowing properly

Hi everyone, I am working on a photo gallery, each thumbnail is in its own DIV and floated to the left in a containing DIV. It has been displaying properly up until vertical thumbnails entered the equation. Now, when the next row should start, the first item of the following row is to the left of the last vertical DIV (thumbnail), rather than flush to the left of the containing DIV. Dojo slider: update value dynamically

I am building an application where the user browses certain objects by scrolling and zooming. To change the zoom level I have successfully implemented a "dijit.form.HorizontalSlider" object. Every time the user changes the position of the silder, I can catch the "onChange" call and do something with that. However, the user can also zoom-in by double clicking inside the view zone, at which point the slider should change position automatically to reflect the new zoom level. My question is the following: what function or method should I call in my javascript to update the position of a dojo silder ? JQuery - Pass variables to PHP script via AJAX call and then display file

Hiya, I'm trying to generate Outlook event files for my events, doing so on the fly as and when someone requests it by pressing a link on the page. Here's what i've got so far, but I can't find out how to get the browser to download the content which is returned. C# Combobox and TabControl woes

enter code hereI have a TabControl on a Form and in the TabPages there are ComboBoxes. When the form OnLoad, I populate the ListItems in the ComboBoxes and the attempt to set default values to string.Empty. However, the ComboBox.SelectedText = string.Empty only works for the first TabPage. The other ComboBoxes ignore the command and take the default value as the first item in the list. Why is this so? How can I overcome it? Direct web URL to PayPal transaction

Having implemented PayPal's Website Payments Standard, I'd like to link to the details view of a transaction from my site's back end - just a simple direct web URL to the PayPal side. I don't know why this is tricky but when I try to get it from being logged in to the PayPal system it seems very obfuscated, in this form: history.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_history-details&info=[looks like some kind of GUID]&ptype=4&history_cache=[huge encoded string] I'm guessing it's by design but it's not very helpful if you want a quick way to jump to a transaction's details. I've tried the https://www.paypal.com/vst/id=1234 form (also with co.uk as I am UK-based) recommended on a few sites I saw in my search, but I am told that: The transaction ID in your link is invalid. This happens even when copying the transaction ID directly from PayPal's back-end order listing. Is there a reliable way to directly link to an order / transaction details page in PayPal?

Benefit of outputting JSON as opposed to plain HTML

Hey guys, Just wondering which is best here. I want to output data from a table in my DB then put a lot of this data into a html table on the fly on my page. Im working with Java on the server side. Basically I pull the results form the DB and have the raw data..just what next? There is a chance I may want to take data from multiple tables in order to combine it into one table for my site. I retrieve the results of the query from the DB, now do i create a text from it in the form of json which i can parse as json using jquery upon the return of the object to my browser?(kind of a sub question of this question: Is just using a stringbuilder the correct way to make a json object to output?) Or.. Should i build the HTML as a string and output that to the browser instead? Which is better and why? Thanks in advance!

apache tiles ordering problem

I have a problem with the order of rendering tiles. The menu gets rendered first and then the body of our webpage gets rendered. Each tile has it`s own controller that handles everything that tile needs to do. There are two forms. One in the menu and one in the body. Each one changes something in the menu and in the body. The problem is that if a form in the body changes something the menu gets rendered first and then the body controller handles form things and puts data to session, but menu is already done and the session was empty. I cant turn body and menu around becaouse there are other forms that work the other way around. How to deal with this problem? I do want every tile to have its own controller that deals with everything that tile does.

As soon as I try to redirect the page in the preRenderView method of the bean (just uncomment the code in the method), using handleNavigation() the bean is created again in the next view instead of using the allready created instance. Although the cid parameter is propagated to the next view ! Has anybody an idea what's wrong ? best regards Thomas

Creating 'select' listboxes using FormHelper in CakePHP

I have two models Category and Point. The associations are defined as: Category hasMany Point Point belongsTo Category I would like, when adding Points to my database, to be able to select the category it belongs to from a <select> box, along with the rest of the form data. Where would i need to set the category list and how could i do it? And how would i produce the select box? I assume it could be done with $form->input('categorieslist',array('type'=>'select')); //categorieslist needs //setting somewhere. But i am fairly new to Cake and not done much with associations before. Thanks.
