• How can I detect a debugger or other tool that might be analysing my software?

  A very simple situation. I'm working on an application in Delphi 2007 which is often compiled as 'Release' but still runs under a debugger. And occasionally it will run under SilkTest too, for regression testing. While this is quite fun I want to do something special... I want to detect if my application is running within a debugger/regression-tester and if that's the case, I want the application to know which tool is used! (Thus, when the application crashes, I could report this information in it's error report.) Any suggestions, solutions?

• Converting a JSP to a SharePoint webpart

  We have a large number of Java based servlets/portlets running in a BEA portal that we want to convert into SharePoint 2007 webparts. Many of the portlets use user preferences but the implementations are split between preferences being handled by the portlet directly and stored in a separate database from the portal. Others are using the BEA WebLogic API for user preferences. Three questions: Has anyone gotten a Java Servlet/JSP (compiled against JRE 1.4.2 and running on Tomcat 4.1) to run as a SharePoint 2007 webpart? How large of an effort was it in general (as in, was it measured in days/weeks/months)? Would it be easier to rewrite the portlet as native webparts at least as far as user preferences are concerned?

• Localizing MVVM based WPF applications

  What would be a good aproach to localize a MVVM based WPF allication that can change its language at runtime? Of course I could create a string property in the ViewModel for each and every string that is displayed somewhere in the View but that seems rather tedious to me. Is there a common approach/best practice for this?

  MSBuild in TFS 2010 has been replaced by Windows Workflow 4.0. It means when you are creating a Build Definition, you won't have a TFSBuild.proj to edit instead you must edit a workflow to customize your build. BTW am I correct if I say Microsoft is not supporting MSBuild in TFS 2010 and learning MSBuild as a TFS 2010 Team Build administrator doesn't worth? And another more question: Is microsoft going to replace Visual Studio Projects' language from MSBuild to something like Windows Workflow? Many Thanks

• javax script how to call a function in JavaScript from Java

  Hi All, I'm trying to call a function in JavaScript via Java. This works fine when directly reading a script as a string but I'm using CompiledScripts. When I do this with a compiled script it gives me method not found if I also add bindings. Without bindings it works but of course the function fails because it needs the bindings. Any ideas? • What kind of assemblies can be called using P/Invoke ?

  Hi all, I allready asked at: Is it possible to call unmanaged code using C# reflection from managed code ? if it is possible to call C/C++ library unmanaged function with Invoke and reflection from .NET and the answer is yes. What I am not clear about is can I call using P/Invoke ANY assembly written/compiled/build with other compilers on my Windows PC like Labwindows/CVI(have some kind of C compiler) or Java written dll's, exe. If this is possible is it the same as explained in above given link using "Marshal.GetDelegateForFunctionPointer" ? Thanks! Milan.

And it compiles C code well. but I found a weird thing for NOT operations. if i make code like int a; func(!a); and i studied MIPS instructions with text book that says "MIPS converts NOT operation to 'nor with zero'" So i thought it would converted like nor a a $zero but my compiler converts xori a a 0x0 sltu a 1 /////////////////////////////////////// i compiled the code with 'myaccount mipsel-unknown-linux-gnu-gcc -S myfilename.c' and it makes myfilename.s file.. what am i missing??

  I have a set of aspx pages that each live in their own directory and reference a single aspx.cs code behind file. This has worked fine previously because I never tried to pre-compile the site. IIS must have individually compiled each aspx, linking them to the contents of App_Code but never referencing more than one aspx at a time. Now that I'm trying to pre-compile the website using Web Deployment Projects I keep getting errors about the same class being found in multiple assemblies. I can't just drop the aspx.cs in App_Code and subclass it because it wouldn't be able to find the controls on the .aspx pages when compiling. Maybe I could explicitly define every control on the page in the .cs? But would that allow them to be wired up correctly? Any other ideas on how I can reference the same Page class from multiple .aspx pages and be able to pre-compile the entire website?

• Debugging segfault on swig/python/c++

  I am trying to figure out what the best way to debug a segault with swig/python/c++. A core file is being generated. I have a basic MessageFactory(defined in c++ that provides a simple interface to accept a few strings as input and return a string as output). This interface is then specified in a .i file. swig is used to generate Wrapper.cpp as well as a MessageFactory.py from the .i file. This along with supporting files is compiled into a dynamic lib. The point of failure , is when the MessageFactory is instantiated within python code. Any suggestions on how I can go about debugging this? I've tried running the script within pdb, what I know from that is import on the generated MessageFactory.py is whats causing the seg-fault.

• MySql UDF using shared library won't load

  I am attempting to create a mysql UDF which will match a fingerprint using Digital Persona's free linux SDK library. I have written a trivial UDF as a learning experience which worked fine. However, when I added a dependency to Digital Persona's shared object I can no longer get MySql to load my UDF. I added includes to DP's headers and compiled my UDF using: gcc -fPIC -Wall -I/usr/src/mysql-5.0.45-linux-i686-icc-glibc23/include -shared -o dp_udf.so dp_udf.cc I also tried adding the -static argument, but whenever I restart MySql, I get the error: Can't open shared library 'dp_udf.so' (errno: 0 /usr/local/mysql/lib/plugin/dp_udf.so: undefined symbol: MC_verifyFeaturesEx) MC_verifyFeaturesEx is a function defined "dpMatch.h" which I included, and is implemented in libdpfpapi.so which I have tried placing in the same location as my dp_udf.so and in /usr/lib. Am I doing something wrong with my call to gcc (my C++ skills are rusty) or does MySql not allow UDFs to use additional shared objects?

  Hey folks I've deployed an ASP.NET MVC app on IIS7 and Windows Server 2008. I've read posts on here, and around the web, but can't get the darn client-side caching to work. I'm trying to cache everything in the /Content folder. So far I've select that folder in IIS manager, and set the appropriate HTTP Response Headers (under Common Headers). I've also checked the web.config file in the /Content folder and the values there are being set. All resources in /Content come back with this (from FireBug): Cache-Control no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate Pragma no-cache Content-Type image/png Expires -1 Last-Modified Sun, 11 Oct 2009 19:01:40 GMT Accept-Ranges bytes Etag "f318d643a54aca1:0" Server Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET Date Sun, 11 Oct 2009 20:40:01 GMT Content-Length 620 Note the Cache-Control and Expires values for this static image being requested. • Does a .NET 4.0 website load faster for a reason?

  I have been using DotNetBlogEngine for many years, and today my host (JodoHost.com) officially turned on support for .NET 4.0. What I've noticed immediately is that the website loads tremendously faster on the first load, subsequent loads are only slightly faster. The website is compiled as a .NET 2.0 web application. Is there a known reason for this performance increase? Was there a change in the .NET 4.0 framework that improved the initial load time of websites into an application pool?   I am trying to update language specific text files ("po files") for Ubercart, but it is unclear who/where these files are maintained. • getting detailed information about structured exceptions

  My Visual C++ application is compiled with /EHA option, letting me catch structured exceptions (division by zero, access violation, etc). I then translate those exceptions to my own exception class using _set_se_translator(). My goal is to improve our logging of those types of exceptions. I can get the type of exception from the EXCEPTION_RECORD structure, and the exception address. I would like to be able to gather more information, like the source file/location where the exception is thrown, the call stack, etc. Is that possible? I do create an exception minidump on structured exceptions - is there a tool to automatically get the call stack from that?
