  • ASP.NET MVC Html Helper Extensions and Rendering Their Required "include"s

    - by Jimbo
I have build a custom Html Helper extension as follows: public static string DatePicker(this HtmlHelper helper, string name, string value) { return string.Format(@"<script type='text/javascript'> $(document).ready(function(){{ $('#{0}').datepicker({{ changeMonth: true, changeYear:true, dateFormat: 'd-M-yy', firstDay: 1, showButtonPanel: true, showWeek: true }}); }}); </script> <input type='text' name='{0}' id='{0}' value='{1}'>", name, value); } The problem is that this now requires the page to "include" the following: <script src="/Scripts/jquery-1.4.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/Scripts/jquery.ui.datepicker.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> And a few other items. The questions are as follows: Is there a serious processing overhead if I were to include these items in EVERY page (like in the Site.Master for example) thus negating the need for the HtmlHelper to organise the "includes" - considering there would end up being about 20 includes for all the different types of jQuery UI widgets used throughout the site. If the HtmlHelper sorts out the "includes", it will add one every time this DatePicker is used (often there are two on a page) Does anyone have a way of determining whether or not the user has already rendered the same type of control on the page, thus not re-including the same jquery libraries when multiple instances of the DatePicker (for example) are used?

Anyone knows how to fix this?

  • How can I make jQuery Autocomplete replaces only certain word - not full string?

    - by user553640
    I am using bassistance.de jQuery Autocomplete function. Have text like "hello to you @john" I made, Autocomplete run only when character @ is in word. But when I click on the needed item, it replaces me full text. How can I do so - to replace only "@john"? Or maybe there is another Autocomplete plugin for jQuery, which has such ability? $('#input_line').autocomplete('data.php', { extraParams: {input: function(){return GetTextareaWord("input_line");}} });

  • What was the name of that interactive jQuery wizard plugin?

    - by poru
Hello, a few weeks or months ago a (I think jQuery plugin) wizard was released, which allows you to do interactive "tutorials". You were able to create interactive boxes which relates to html elements and you were able to change to color of these boxes to red. It's also possible that it was "just" a javascript script and not a jquery plugin.

  • Any good example about Autocomplete with Zend Framework? (JQuery and ZendX)

    - by joanballester
Hi guys, I have a problem, I don't find good examples of "autocomplete" with zend framework (using jQuery with zendx). I need one that works to understand how to develop it. Someone has done it? Thank you very much in advance PS: I know how to do it without ZendX, I mean, doing the form myself (and using jquery as usual with a autocomplete.php file using the parameter typed in the input field), but I would like to use the zend framework properly, so I would like to know if someone has made it.

  • Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML?

    - by Ben McCormack
Is there a built-in jQuery function for encoding a string as HTML? I'm trying to take the text a user types into a text box and then put that text into a different area of the page. My plan was to take the .val() from the text box and supply that to the .html() of the <div> element. Perhaps there's a good jQuery plugin to help with this (if it's not built-in) or a better way overall to accomplish this goal.

  • How do you optimize stunicholls' "Professional dropdown #2" with jquery?

    - by geff_chang
Link to menu: Professional dropdown #2 I was wondering if these posts Suckerfish meets jQuery or Son of Suckerfish dropdowns in jQuery could optimize the menu above. I need the menu to be optimized for IE6, because when I use the menu as it is, the menu hangs after I click on a menu item that loads a page with heavy processing. It takes too long for the menu to be enabled again. Any ideas?

  • How can I set up JQuery autocomplete like Stackoverflow's tags input field?

    - by d03boy
I'm using PHP and I've never really done anything with Javascript or JQuery or AJAX. I'm just wondering if there are any available solutions to accomplish the same effect of auto-completion that SO uses for entering tags. There are plugins which can handle one word but I haven't seen any that handles multiple words. Also, I hear JQuery is hosted on google code. Is it a good or bad idea to link directly from that?

  • Date formats in ActiveRecord / Rails 3

    - by cbmeeks
In my model, I have a departure_date and a return_date. I am using a text_field instead of the date_select so that I can use the JQuery datepicker. My app is based in the US for now but I do hope to get international members. So basically this is what is happening. The user (US) types in a date such as 04/01/2010 (April 1st). Of course, MySQL stores it as a datetime such as 2010-04-01... Anyway, when the user goes to edit the date later on, it shows "01/04/2010" because I am using a strftime("%m/%d/%Y) which doesn't make sense....so it thinks it is January 4th instead of the original April 1st. It's like the only way to accurately store the data is for the user to type in: 2010-04-01 I hope all of this makes sense. What I am really after is a way for the user to type in (or use the datepicker) a date in their native format. So someone in Europe could type in 01/04/2010 for April 1st but someone in the US would type in 04/01/2010. Is there an easy, elegant solution to this? Thanks for any suggestions.

In this application, when I make two ajax call asynchrounoulsy that would not do as I expceted. what is happening is even the second ajax call finishes i can see the result when the maximum time out ajax call finished. I mean i can see the both results in the same time, not one by one. for an example. I have 3 pages 1) main.aspx - for make two ajax request. 2) totalCount.aspx - to find the total count. (max it takes 7 seconds to return, as corresponding table contains 3 lak records) 3) rowCount.aspx - to find the row details. (max it takes 5 seconds to return result). due to this scene, I have planed to make asyn call in jquery ajax in asp.net. here is my code... function getResult() { getTotalCount(); getRows(); } // it takes max 7 seconds to complete // as it take 7 seconds it should display second.( I mean after the rows dispaying) // but displaying both at the same time after the max time consuming ajax call completed. function getTotalCount() { $.ajax({ type : "POST", async : true, url : "totalCount.aspx?data1=" + document.getElementById("data").value, success : function(responseText) { $("#totalCount").attr("value", responseText); } }) } // it takes max 5 seconds to complete. // after finished, this should display first.( i mean before total count displays) // but displaying both at the same time after the max time consuming ajax call completed. function getRows() { $.ajax({ type : "POST", url : "getrows.aspx?data1=" + document.getElementById("data").value, async : true, success : function(responseText) { $("#getRows").attr("value", responseText); } }); } I would like to know, If there is any possible to make asyn call in jquery ajax in asp.net. • What is the simplest and most impressive piece of jQuery code you've seen?

    - by Matias
I think the question is clear enough, but I'd like to clarify it because it's subjective at some point and I don't want it closed. I want to see some short jQuery examples with awesome results (either from the user or from the programmer perspective), that would not be that easy using straight javascript without any library. I find this question useful to be aware how using jQuery simplifies your js code.

  • How to bind to localStorage change event using jQuery for all browsers?

    - by David Glenn
How do I bind a function to the HTML5 localStorage change event using jQuery? $(function () { $(window).bind('storage', function (e) { alert('storage changed'); }); localStorage.setItem('a', 'test'); }); I've tried the above but the alert is not showing. Update: It works in Firefox 3.6 but it doesn't work in Chrome 8 or IE 8 so the question should be more 'How to bind to localStorage change event using jQuery for all browsers?'

  • What is the Dojo equivalent of jQuery's scope attribute?

    - by joolss
Hi. I'm a Dojo n00b. In jQuery, a DOM node or jQuery object can be passed as an attribute in a query, which sets the scope: var myScope = $('#someDiv'); $('a',myScope).addClass('red'); $('li',myScope).css('display','inline'); Now, in Dojo I can chain several .query()s after each other, but what should I do if I have a certain DOM node - not a nodeList - that I want to use as a scope? • Is there a JQuery equivalent class/library in PHP?

    - by DKinzer
Soon I'll be working on a batch script where I will need to make some changes to some HTML files. I know that I can use DOMDocument and DOMXPath to manipulate these files. But, I really love JQuery. It would be great if there was something a lot more like JQuery in the PHP world. Does anybody know if something like that exists? Thanks! D

  • jQuery, Animate opacity to 1 then remove the opacity property to make it better looking on IE

    - by Emily
Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks
