  • JQuery addclass to another div (but not parent) if no data is found

    I have this to add a class to the main table that the report is in if there is no data returned. $('#report-area table td:contains("Sorry, your search did not return any data")').parents('#reportArea').addClass('no-report-data') However, I have another div area "#report-footer" but it's not inside #report-area. I'd like to also add the .no-report-data class to "#report-footer" as well but in this case I don't think the .parents selector will work. Is there another selector I can use to do this?

We have tried this and didn't work: var value = $('th').children('input:hidden').val(); Can anyone help us? We would really appreciate it.

  • jquery specific show buttons on hover

    I have an application creating a bunch of divs through a loop. Each div has the class "product" so it looks like <div class="product"> !.....stuff here ....! <div class="show_on_hover">...buttons here... </div> </div> so there are about 12 of these same divs per page. I would like to hover over a specific one and show the specific "show_on_hover" div which is initially set to display:none. $('.product').hover(function() { $(.show_on_hover).show(); }, function () { $(.show_on_hover).hide(); } ); That is what I have so far but it will show ALL of the .show_on_hovers on the page so I am wondering how to get only the specific one you have moused over to show. This effect is seen on youtube when you mouseover any of the comments, and some comment tools pop up. Thanks!

  • IE not showing jquery append() images

    Ok, so i took John Raasch's slideshow script and modyfied it too dynamicly fetch images from folders on the server through ajax. The slideshow work like a charm in FF and Chrome but IE is not showing the images. And since IE's javascript debugging possibilities is close to none I cant figure out what is crashing.     I built a slideshow/decision-making game in Flash but would like to try to redo it using jQuery. The slideshow part seems simple enough, however I have a series of user decisions that I'm not sure how to approach. In flash, if the user makes a decision, I would just store this in a variable or shared local objects, is this the same for jQuery? i.e. mix regular javascript variables with the jQuery?

    Hi, I need to take data from external file and format it, the problem is, i want to have that data stored into a variable. Load method works for me, because i need to load not the whole document, but just a part of it, but then again, i want to load to variable and not to some dom element. $.get can do this, but it doesn't support selectors. Is there any way I could make this? Now examples: Mine external file consists of a table, which has format like this: <table><tr><td><img /></td></tr><tr><td><a></a></td><td><span></span></td></tr></table> I need to extract img, a and span tags because I need them to be displayed in different order than they're now. So, is there any chance for me that i could make this work? Thanks.

I'm trying to write a function where any time a checkbox is selected, it generates a string with all the names concatenated.   • Submit form if ajax validator returns true using jquery

    I am not sure where I'm going wrong. The idea is that before the form is submitted, one of the input fields is sent to a server-side validator via ajax. If the response is 1, the input is valid and the form should be submitted. If the response is 0, the form should not be submitted. The issue is that I can't figure out how to set a variable within the ajax request function that will prevent the form from being submitted.     Hi All, I have a text area field where i need to provide information about the word count when the user enters some text in the field. Length of the field is supposed to be 500 Characters. Initialy it must show min characters:100 | 0 of 500 // 0 of 500 must be in red color and once the user enters come character need to update the count as well. Once the user reaches the count say the min character 100, i need to display min characters:100 | 100 of 500 // 100 of 500 must be in green color. How can i do this?? is there any plugin for the same??? let me know your thoughts on this.

    Got myself in a funny situation: page has three tables. Using sortEnd, any time you sort one table, it sorts the other three. However, since I bound sortEnd to the function that does the sorting, you get a infinite loop of sorting/resorting.   • Jquery JSON .each() doesnt work in Google Chrome

    I have a really simple chat application on a site which works pretty good. This is driving me nuts, have tried everything I've come across online for days but I can't seem to get it right. Please someone help! I can provide testserver if someone wants to firebug it themselves ;)

  • How do I get jquery & mootools to play nice?

    I've been using Mootools 1.2.4 as my JS framework of choice. I've added Checkout by Amazon to one of my pages, and they inject jQuery 1.2.6 into the page and messes up my dollar function (among other things). I have control over Mootools, but not jQuery. I would rather not rewrite my existing code to accomodate jQuery since Checkout by Amazon was an afterthought and plug-in element. Any thoughts or suggestions are recommended. Thanks!

    I can't understand why in Opera and IE the following code does not work... $("#form_" + $(this).attr('id')).serialize(); I checked it by only getting the attribute; worked I checked if I could get the form data without serialize; worked How should I code this? Tried a lot of combinations and stuff but nothing works.. why does this isn't working in opera? In chrome I have no problems... To answer some of the questions below I have multiple forms on my page, each with an unique id (from_1, form_5 etc.) I checked this and is correct. The form data needs to be fetched when a select changes, so data call is fired by an change event.

  • Issue with changing an attribute with jquery

    Hello, I'm having an issue with changing the attribute for an id and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I guess it doesn't help that I'm new to this also. I have a function that tests to make sure that I am pulling the correct id from the row in my form that I have dynamically created. It goes something like this: myFunction() { var id = $(id).attr("id"); alert("This is my id " + id); } This works with no problem and when I click the button assigned to alert me of my id it will give give me the id of the dynamic row in my form. The issue is now when I try to change the id with this: changeId() { var newId = $(id).attr("id", "x"); alert("This is my new id " + newId); } What happens in this case is that it will alert saying "This is my new id [object Object]" instead of giving me the new id. Any suggestions? I'd really appreciate any help with this.
