Nuclear meltdowns are horrifying – remember the Chernobyl incident in Russia? The Chernobyl reactor meltdown released 400 times more radio active material than the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The effects of nuclear meltdowns are beyond imagination of a common man, thousands of people loose their lives and many more lakhs of people suffer with radiation related diseases for many years. Nuclear Meltdowns are dangerous, but how do they happen? What causes a nuclear meltdown? In simple terms – Nuclear meltdown is an accident that happens due to severe overheating of a nuclear reactor and results in release of nuclear radiation into the environment.  How A Nuclear Meltdown Happens? According to Wikipedia A meltdown occurs when a severe failure of a nuclear power plant system prevents proper cooling of the reactor core, to the extent that the nuclear fuel assemblies overheat and melt. A meltdown is considered very serious because of the potential that radioactive materials could be released into the environment. The fuel assemblies in a reactor core can melt if heat is not removed. A nuclear reactor does not have to remain critical for a core damage incident to occur, because decay heat continues to heat the reactor fuel assemblies after the reactor has shut down, though this heat decreases with time. A core damage accident is caused by the loss of sufficient cooling for the nuclear fuel within the reactor core. The reason may be one of several factors, including a loss of pressure control accident, a loss of coolant accident (LOCA), an uncontrolled power excursion or, in some types, a fire within the reactor core. Failures in control systems may cause a series of events resulting in loss of cooling. Contemporary safety principles of defense in depth, ensure that multiple layers of safety systems are always present to make such accidents unlikely.     Possible Duplicate: Will a PCI-E V2.0 Graphics Card work with a PCI-E V1.0 Motherboard? My HP Pavilion p6754y has a PCI Express x16 slot on it's motherboard, I want to put a video car with something higher than either NVIDIA 8800GTS 512MB or greater or ATI 3850 512MB or greater but the only video cards I can find with those specs are PCI Express 2.0 x16. Is the PCI Express 2.0 x16 compatible with the PCI Express x16 slot?

    I am using ubuntu 10.04 LTS in my lenovo laptop and have a android ICS device. I want to create a wifi-hotspot in ubuntu, which I can later use for connecting android device. I need this setup for capturing the packets from android device and later analysing them using wireshark in my ubuntu. I tried to create a new hotspot using "Create a new wireless Network" wizard from network manager applet, but for some reason the following happens. It breaks the existing internet connection(either the WLAN, or ethernet) Its not visible in the list of available WIFI hotspots in the android device.   • Can't play blu ray on sony vaio fz

    Hi. I have a Sony Vaio FZ (VGN-FZ31M) with a blu ray drive. I have just recently purchased the 2001 Space Odissey in blu ray but haven't been able to play on my laptop. When I try to play it with WMP i get this: "Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD. The disc was created in a manner that the Player does not support." and this with VLC: "VLC cannot open MRL. Check log for details." I have once formatted the pc and done a clean install without the sony vaio recovery cd. Is it possible that it is necessary a specific blu ray driver that I have not installed? Thanks.

    I'd like to sell instructional videos over the web. Primarily, I'd like uses to subscribe to the site and be allowed access to videos over the internet. Secondarily, I might sell DVDs for those who have poor internet connections or would like a physical copy, or possibly I'd sell eBooks and the like in the future. Regarding the subscriptions: I'd like a system that automatically sends out e-mails when it is time to renew I'd like to be able to offer free trials Users without a free trial or subscription should not be able to access the content Incidentally, I plan to host videos on my current web host and move them to a CDN when volume (and capital) make this a good idea. While I have no intention to go crazy with the DRM, it seems expedient not to directly link to the files -- how can I link to them indirectly? It would be nice to support multiple payment processors -- specifically, I'd like to avoid a PayPal only approach. Are there any web applications (or plugins) you'd recommend for something like this? While I've set up and administered several web technologies, I've never done anything with e-commerce. I see there are possibilities like osCommerce, one friend recommends using WordPress with plugins, and it really appears that for any given CMS, you can graft on components like this, although I imagine that not all are created equal. As I'm not tied to a particular web application (and, while open source software that can run on a LAMP [p=perl, python, php] stack is preferable), I'd like to make a good choice at the beginning.

    I'm developing a 2D game for Android and i'm using the framework which has been told in the book which named Beginning Android Games by Mario Zechner.So my framework is well designed and using OpenGL 1.1.It's similar to libgdx. When i put my textures adjacent each other in my 2d surface,there are some spaces size as 1 px.But this problem only occur on my tablet.There aren't a problem like this on my phone.It's like in this picture: What can be the problem?I can't fix it from one week.

    It's great having lots of video on demand options, but actually choosing something to watch is turning into a mess - I have to jump from one website or application to another. I'd like to have a single queue where I can add and prioritize movies and TV I want to watch from any source: iTunes purchases, iTunes rentals, Netflix on demand, Amazon video on demand, Hulu, etc. I'd like the consolidated queue to be accessible from Front Row on my Mac Mini. Does such a thing exist?

    I have been playing games like MW2 recently and, as a programmer, I tend to ask myself how do they make the game so immersive. For example, how to they simulate bullet speed. When an NPC fires a bullet from his gun, does the bullet really travel from his gun to the given target or do they they completely ignore this part and just put a bullet hole on the target? If the bullet is really travelling from the gun to the target, at what speed is it actually travelling?

  • DIY Homemade Hybrid Rocket Engine [Video]

    Remember the guy with the cool DIY astronaut ice cream build? He’s back with a mini hybrid rocket engine that runs off oxygen and acrylic. I built a small rocket engine for demonstration purposes. The engine is built from a 2″ diameter acrylic rod through which I drilled a 0.5″ hole. The oxygen at 80 psi or less is passed through the hole and then is forced through a convergent-divergent nozzle at the tail end. The nozzle’s throat is about 0.25″ and expands to 0.625″. I lit the engine by inserting a burning cotton swab (with wooden stick) while a small amount of oxygen was flowing. The acrylic catches fire very easily in a pure oxygen environment. The engine can be throttled and shut off completely, which is a major benefit to hybrid engine designs. Solid-fuel rockets cannot be throttled or shut off, which makes them difficult to control.
