  • Indexing an image in-between already made content

    I have a pre-code page coded as follows: <div id="linearBg"> <div id="wrapper"> <div class="logo"></div> <div class="navigation"></div> <div class="video"></div> <div class="content"></div> </div> </div> Where linearBg is a gradient background, the back board of the website. Wrapper is the container for the inner div's, and the rest are content oriented. So i've already implemented this with styles and all sorts, but the thing is I want to add: <div class="watermark"></div> underneath/behind both the content and video div, sort of like a reverse watermark, I've tried z-indexing but i'm not an expert. Could you guide me on to do make this possible? Thanks in advance

  • Image sprite not lining up in firefox

    I am working with an image sprite to create my buttons. They work right in every browser except firefox. Lets say i have 2 spans next to eachother: <span class="spanleft"></span><span class="spanright"></span> and give them some styling(this is the actual code i use for the sprite) .spanleft{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 0; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:13px; } .spanright{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 -104px; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:30px; margin-left:0px; } Now this works in every browser i tested, the images line up great. But in firefox I get a small offset. Now i fiddled with the pixels a lot. Its not an offset of 1px, the offset is about 0.5 of a px. yeah. Ive made a screenshot of what i mean, and i'm going to put in the sprite for the buttons, they make lovely buttons, upstate,downstate,hover,disabled. You can use them in your projects. How I can give border then it's only show upon the text. if I give border to p-head then it's take border on some more places.

    I'm trying to print a specific part of my application. The application has a list of users, displaying their first and last name. When I click a user I get a popup with more detailed information about them. How would I go about printing just the popup for a user I clicked?   • Moving checkmarks in checkbox lists after page reload - Firefox only

    I'm getting some strange behavior in Firefox whenever I put checkboxes inside a list (ol, ul, dl), and then dynamically insert buttons above the list. If I start with a something simple list like this: <dl class="c"> <dt><label for="a1"><input type="checkbox" id="a1" />one</label></dt> <dt><label for="a2"><input type="checkbox" id="a2" />two</label></dt> <dt><label for="a3"><input type="checkbox" id="a3" />three</label></dt> </dl> and add some jQuery like this: $(document).ready(function(){ var a = $('<button type="button">a</button>'); var b = $('<button type="button">b</button>'); $('<div/>').append(a).append(b).insertBefore($('.c')); }); ...then open it in Firefox, it looks fine at first. But check the first checkbox, reload the page, and the check-mark jumps to the second box. Reload again, and it jumps to the third. Reload yet again, and no checkboxes are left checked. If I leave out one of the buttons by dropping one of the append calls, it's fine. If I change the buttons to divs or something similar, it's fine. If I replace the dl tag with a div (and get rid of the dt tags), it's fine. But I need both buttons, and the checkboxes have to be in a list for what I'm trying to build. Does anybody know what's causing this?

I want to preserve each of the elements onclick methods and play them back in the new fuction Im creating. What I want: When input1 is clicked, alert "hello" then alert "hello2" When Input2 is clicked, alert "hello2" When Input3 is clicked, alert "hello2"

  • Make a <div> square when there is a dynamically changing width based on percentage

    I am working on a web app that will generate an NxN grid based on the user's selection of N. I want the total width of the grid to be relative (ie 100% of the available space) so that users can print on various paper sizes. I can easily calculate the width of the squares in the grid by % (ie: 100%/N), but I am having issues calculating the height. The height of a web page is always going to be infinite unless I artificially limit it which, like I said, I don't want to do. How can I make the squares in my grid be square versus rectangular when the height and width constraints of my grid are dynamic and not square? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, I'm looking at the buttons used on twitter's home page, specifically the big orange 'signup' button. I see it is defined like this: <p id="signup-btn"> <a id="signup_submit" href="/signup"> <span>Sign Up</span> </a> </p> are they just using css to give the orange button appearance (which may just be a jpg), and also using css to specify the roll-over appearance (another jpg), and finally a third state for mouse-click (another jpg) to give the impression of a real clickable button? If that's how it works, what should I look for to do the same thing? In my case I just want to make a button I guess, like: <div class='mybutton'>Hello!</div> .mybutton { bgcolor: red; bgcolor-mouseover: yellow; bgcolor-mousedown: green; } yeah something like that would be great, Thanks

    I am following along in the latest Agile Web Development with Rails 4 book. In Chapter 11 (AJAX), the book instructs us to use the following code in the "create.js.erb" file: if ($('#cart tr').length == 1) { $('#cart').show('blind', 1000); } This code causes the #cart div to jump down without any content. After 1 second it appears. There is no sliding effect. I tried using slideDown(); as well, but the div just appears immediately. Out of curiosity, I tried slideUp(); when the div was visible. Voila. The div slid up. This appears to be a jQuery bug and wondered if anyone else has experienced this, or has any suggestions for me. Thanks.

    I have an input text in a form that has a problem in MSIE7. When the text field is filled and I continue typing, the background starts scrolling left along with the text. This is the form when the text field is filled http://img155.imageshack.us/i/screen2rl.jpg/ The background image, a white rectangle with rounded corners, scrolls left with the text, leaving the black background. This is the CSS for this text field: border: none; background: url('/wp-content/themes/pokerbuddy/images/field.png') top left no-repeat; width: 100px; height: 20px; padding: 0px; font-size: 80%; color: #399; display:inline; Is there any way to solve this in MSIE7?

  • Having onFocus do several things.

    So I have this input tag <input ... onFocus=...> and what I want is for a warning popup to come up if somebody clicks to write in the input field. After the person has read the warning he/she closes the popup and can continue to write in the field. I have managed to implement the popup just fine but my problem is that I lose focus on the input field when the popup comes up so the next time I click the field the popup comes back again and im back on square one. The system I work on uses php and javascript so and I cannot use anything other than that to solve the problem and my experience with both php and javascript is limited.

    I have a div which, when my page is first loaded, is about 100px from the top (it holds some buttons etc. for the page). When a user scrolls past it, I would like the div to "follow" the user in that it attaches to the top of the screen. When the user returns to the top of the page, I want it back in its original position.   • Aligning left and right in a simple footer

    I'm currently working on a simple footer, and I would like to align one line of text left and the other to the right. This is what I have so far: <div id="footer"> Last Updated: October 15, 2012 <!--left align--> Contact Us Login <!--right align (these will be links)--> </div> #footer { font-family: Arial; font-size: .9em; color: #24ACAE; border-top: 1px solid #24ACAE; margin-left: 90px; margin-right: 90px; padding-top: 5px; } The above code results in the two lines of text being next to each other and I've tried various ways of fixing this such as putting the the 2nd line in a span and aligning right and even putting the lines into a table. None of what I have tried has resulted in both lines being properly aligned. Using a margin-left alone does not work because when the first line is updated and becomes longer, it will push the second line downwards. Relative positioning seems to have the same issue. Hopefully there's something simple that I'm overlooking.

Every time the page loads I get a pop-up "to help protect your security, IE has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer". I don't know if getting myself into a lot of work by doing this as I am quiet new to PHP and MYSQL but I do have a good understanding/knowledge of the two. I want the below fields in my database. Job weekPeriod ------A list of weeks Monday Sunday dateWorked ------List Of dates in the form coming from a database e.g. 1/1/2011 startTime ------List of times from 12:00am11:00pm 30 min intervals e.g. 11:30-12:30 endTime ------List of times from 12:00am11:00pm 30 min intervals e.g. 11:30-12:30 totalHours ------Automated amount ------Automated based on dayWorked comments ------Any messages here I want to be able to fill in some drop down boxes through a form that will then submit all information to my database. I want the script to know that if the date worked is on a Weekday Mon-Fri e.g. my rate of pay is 30.00ph On a sat it is 35.00ph and on a Sunday it is 40ph I then want to create a page where i select a particular week and see how many hours i worked and how much i earn and so on. Please let me know if there is such a program already established or if this is something that requires a bit of time and if I could do it being new to PHP and MYSQL
