What is a good C++ library for hash tables / hash maps similar to what java offers. I have worked with Google Sparsehash, but it has no support for collisions.
Anyone know of a more permissive license (MIT / public domain) version of this:
http://library.gnome.org/devel/glibmm/unstable/classGlib_1_1ustring.html
('drop-in' replacement for std::string thats UTF-8 aware)
Lightweight, does everything I need and even more (doubt I'll use the UTF-XX conversions even)
I really don't want to be carrying ICU around with me.
Hello,
in my python project I call a c++ dll using ctypes library.
That c++ dll consists on a wrapper dll that calls methods of a c# com interop dll.
Sometimes I have a COM exception. I like to see what it corresponds exactlly but I don't know how to do it?
How can I attach the c++ debugger to this situation?
Thanks in advance
Hi everyone,
I have a UITableView with a sectionIndexTitles, and when I do a rotation, some cells are displayed like if I were on the previous orientation. When I don't have sectionIndexTitles, there is no problem. Is it just a bug in a library, or is there a secret tip I don't know to fix it ?
Tank you
Not completely a programming question, but its close enough so here goes:
In Mac OS I'll put user-specific files for my app in ~/Library/Application Data/{MyApp}/ and in *nix I'll put them in ~/.{MyApp}/ - where should I put them for Windows?
I'll be using Ruby's File.expand_path to get to this directory, so if there's a windows equivalent of ~ then that's fine.
(Answers for Windows XP, Vista and 7 would be appreciated if they're not the same)
I am trying to Catch exceptions and log it.
Presently I have written a Utility method and Passing the Exception to it in the catch block and finally logging the application using MS Enterprise Library 4.0.
I want to know is there any other better way to log errors.
Show exception message in the same view for some type of exceptions for rest navigate to error page.
If someone can help me on this!

Is there a library or good tutorial which covers creating in-app settings, like this:
http://img.skitch.com/20090625-s8bf6ahybwe3cesd1id38h3nt.jpg
What I would like is if it:
doesn't use the built-in Settings app
is controlled by a plist file with various Dictionaries and Arrays
creates a nice looking table view
allows text fields as well as switches and sliders and ticks etc
doesn't have any of the annoying problems I've come across when trying to build my own version (not scrolling to show the textfield, cells disappearing)
It would appear that the iphone dev world is crying out for such a thing.
THANK YOU!

Hello all,
It seems that every project has an "util" module with various code snippets used throughout other files and which don't fit any particular pattern. I want to improve my "util" library, so please post here the most useful class / function / macro that you use in all your C/C++ projects. Please keep the entries small (under 100 lines) and give only one example per post.
Thank you.
Hi,
Is sequential coupling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequential_coupling) really a bad thing in code?
Although it's an anti-pattern, the only risk I see is calling methods in the wrong order but documentation of an API/class library with this anti-pattern should take care of that. What other problems are there from code which is sequential? Also, this pattern could easily be fixed by using a facade it seems.
Thanks
I've been using matplotlib in a Python project. It is great.
I have now to plot data in a C++ project. Is anyone aware of a plotting library in C or C++?
Note that I cannot accept GPL licensed libraries.
Hi All,
Please somebody help me.
I want to compress a folder (which contains images & text files as well as few sub folders) in zip,rar,tar format & then give it for download to user.
Is there any class/api/library/code to do so.
I am working on Joomla CMS.

Shahu.
So, I want to be able to modify already instanced C++ objects in a scripting language. I have been looking at Lua with LuaBind and Python with SWIG or Boost::Python, but all I see is how to make new instances of the objects, but I want to modify already existing ones.
Example:
C++:
Player playerOne = new Player();
Scripting Language :
playerOne.Transform.x += 5;
Is this possible, and if so, wat would you suggest as a good Language/library to achieve this with?
Yesterday, I have been watching discussion here, about compilers and linkers. It was about C library function definitions. I have never thought of that, so it inspired me to do some searching, but I cannot find exactly what I want. I wonder, what is the smallest syntax you need to add into your source code to enable just printf() function. I mean the function declaration from stdio.h you need.
What good IDE would you recommend for C++ (GNU) programming, with support for the wxWidget library and a GUI builder/designer all in one? Can be either for windows or linux.
I am interesting to do some transformation, like change one color to another, count all used colors, and resize image. I DO NOT want to use any exist library, I would like write myslelf all code.
Summing up: How could I open BMP file and change it?
hi,
i'm using the mshtml library for parsing out html via MSHTML.HTMLDocument.
my question: is there a way to assign a javascript function to a dom element?
i've tried something like:
div.onmouseover = "function(){alert('mouseover')}"
and
div.setattribute "onmouseover" , "function(){alert('mouseover')}"
without success (no error but no effect either).
anyone knows if its possible?
thx
I've had a big problem in some library code, which I've pinned down to a single statement:
System.out.println((String) null);
Ok, the code doesn't actually look like that, but it certainly calls println with a null argument. Doing this causes my whole applicaio to throw an unexpected NullPointerException.
In general, should println throw this exception under that circumstance, or is this non-standard behavior due to a poor implementation of the out instance?
Ok this situation is a bit difficult. But I am trying to embed a Java Jar into a C# form. Not as a new window or new process.
The Jar will be a game that uses the LWJGL library.
The C# Form will be a "wrapper" for it with tools and more.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this even possible?
Hi, there.

I´m working on a little aplication of security, but i recived an array that means a bytes, and that bytes can be interpreted as a assembler code, so my cuestion is.... some one knows a library that a i can use on my aplication that can execute this bytes and show what it do, or something like that?

Is there an API that works for pre OS 3.2 for getting the current time of a video being played back? There's this one
http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/MediaPlayer/Reference/MPMediaPlayback_protocol/Reference/Reference.html
But it's 3.2 or later....
Is there any way to do this with the MPMoviePlayerController API?
I need a simple floating point rounding function, thus:
double round(double);
round(0.1) = 0
round(-0.1) = 0
round(-0.9) = -1
I can find ceil() and floor() in the math.h - but not round().
Is it present in the standard C++ library under another name, or is it missing??
I'm trying to use the google_search ruby library (code follows) but it complains that 'cattr_accessor is an undefined method' - any ideas why this might be or how I could fix it?

require 'google_search'
