  • TransactionScope Prematurely Completed

    - by Chris
    I have a block of code that runs within a TransactionScope and within this block of code I make several calls to the DB. Selects, Updates, Creates, and Deletes, the whole gamut. When I execute my delete I execute it using an extension method of the SqlCommand that will automatically resubmit the query if it deadlocks as this query could potentially hit a deadlock. I believe the problem occurs when a deadlock is hit and the function tries to resubmit the query. This is the error I receive: The transaction associated with the current connection has completed but has not been disposed. The transaction must be disposed before the connection can be used to execute SQL statements. This is the simple code that executes the query (all of the code below executes within the using of the TransactionScope): using (sqlCommand.Connection = new SqlConnection(ConnectionStrings.App)) { sqlCommand.Connection.Open(); sqlCommand.ExecuteNonQueryWithDeadlockHandling(); } Here is the extension method that resubmits the deadlocked query: public static class SqlCommandExtender { private const int DEADLOCK_ERROR = 1205; private const int MAXIMUM_DEADLOCK_RETRIES = 5; private const int SLEEP_INCREMENT = 100; public static void ExecuteNonQueryWithDeadlockHandling(this SqlCommand sqlCommand) { int count = 0; SqlException deadlockException = null; do { if (count > 0) Thread.Sleep(count * SLEEP_INCREMENT); deadlockException = ExecuteNonQuery(sqlCommand); count++; } while (deadlockException != null && count < MAXIMUM_DEADLOCK_RETRIES); if (deadlockException != null) throw deadlockException; } private static SqlException ExecuteNonQuery(SqlCommand sqlCommand) { try { sqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); } catch (SqlException exception) { if (exception.Number == DEADLOCK_ERROR) return exception; throw; } return null; } } The error occurs on the line that executes the nonquery: sqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();

  • Help Modifying Generic REST Helper PHP Example Code to Support XML DOM

    - by Jennifer Baker
    Hi! I found this example PHP source code at HTTP POST from PHP, without cURL I need some help modifying the example PHP source to support XML DOM for manipulating a REST API. I thought that if I update the CASE statement for the XML section below from $r = simplexml_load_string($res); to $r = new DOMDocument(); $r->load($res); that it would work but it doesn't. :( Any help would be appreciated. function rest_helper($url, $params = null, $verb = 'GET', $format = 'xml') { $cparams = array( 'http' => array( 'method' => $verb, 'ignore_errors' => true ) ); if ($params !== null) { $params = http_build_query($params); if ($verb == 'POST') { $cparams['http']['content'] = $params; } else { $url .= '?' . $params; } } $context = stream_context_create($cparams); $fp = fopen($url, 'rb', false, $context); if (!$fp) { $res = false; } else { // If you're trying to troubleshoot problems, try uncommenting the // next two lines; it will show you the HTTP response headers across // all the redirects: // $meta = stream_get_meta_data($fp); // var_dump($meta['wrapper_data']); $res = stream_get_contents($fp); } if ($res === false) { throw new Exception("$verb $url failed: $php_errormsg"); } switch ($format) { case 'json': $r = json_decode($res); if ($r === null) { throw new Exception("failed to decode $res as json"); } return $r; case 'xml': $r = simplexml_load_string($res); if ($r === null) { throw new Exception("failed to decode $res as xml"); } return $r; } return $res; }

  • How to call Android contacts list?

    - by aZn137
    Hi, I'm making an Android app, and need to call the phone's contact list. I need to call the contacts list function, pick a contact, then return to my app with the contact's name. Here's the code I got on the internet, but it doesnt work. Please help: import android.app.ListActivity; import android.content.Intent; import android.database.Cursor; import android.os.Bundle; import android.provider.Contacts.People; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ListAdapter; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.SimpleCursorAdapter; import android.widget.TextView; public class Contacts extends ListActivity { private ListAdapter mAdapter; public TextView pbContact; public static String PBCONTACT; public static final int ACTIVITY_EDIT=1; private static final int ACTIVITY_CREATE=0; // Called when the activity is first created. @Override public void onCreate(Bundle icicle) { super.onCreate(icicle); Cursor C = getContentResolver().query(People.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); startManagingCursor(C); String[] columns = new String[] {People.NAME}; int[] names = new int[] {R.id.row_entry}; mAdapter = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.mycontacts, C, columns, names); setListAdapter(mAdapter); } // end onCreate() // Called when contact is pressed @Override protected void onListItemClick(ListView l, View v, int position, long id) { super.onListItemClick(l, v, position, id); Cursor C = (Cursor) mAdapter.getItem(position); PBCONTACT = C.getString(C.getColumnIndex(People.NAME)); // RHS 05/06 //pbContact = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.myContact); //pbContact.setText(new StringBuilder().append("b")); Intent i = new Intent(this, NoteEdit.class); startActivityForResult(i, ACTIVITY_CREATE); } }

  • How to store a file on a server(web container) through a Java EE web application?

    - by Yatendra Goel
    I have developed a Java EE web application. This application allows a user to upload a file with the help of a browser. Once the user has uploaded his file, this application first stores the uploaded file on the server (on which it is running) and then processes it. At present, I am storing the file on the server as follows: try { FormFile formFile = programForm.getTheFile(); // formFile represents the uploaded file String path = getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") + "/" + formFile.getFileName(); System.out.println(path); file = new File(path); outputStream = new FileOutputStream(file); outputStream.write(formFile.getFileData()); } where, the formFile represents the uploaded file. Now, the problem is that it is running fine on some servers but on some servers the getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("") is returning null so the final path that I am getting is null/filename and the file doesn't store on the server. When I checked the API for ServletContext.getRealPath() method, I found the following: public java.lang.String getRealPath(java.lang.String path) Returns a String containing the real path for a given virtual path. For example, the path "/index.html" returns the absolute file path on the server's filesystem would be served by a request for "http://host/contextPath/index.html", where contextPath is the context path of this ServletContext. The real path returned will be in a form appropriate to the computer and operating system on which the servlet container is running, including the proper path separators. This method returns null if the servlet container cannot translate the virtual path to a real path for any reason (such as when the content is being made available from a .war archive). So, Is there any other way by which I can store files on those servers also which is returning null for getServlet().getServletContext().getRealPath("")

  • ganglia graphs like munin for cpu, etc?

    - by CarpeNoctem
    I'm coming from munin and a CPU graph contains data for system, user, nice, etc ALL on one graph. I just installed ganglia and setup the basic monitoring. It appears that each type of cpu data is a separate graph! WTF is this and can I change the defaults to combine these into a single per host? That is my question, how do I combine cpu data into a single graph. Also, can I change the layout to something closer to munin's day-week side-by-side layout? I'm trying to be impartial and give ganglia a chance. ;)

  • How to set icon to title bar for each Activity in Tablelayout in android

    - by Venu Gopal
    In my tablayout example, i have created 3 tabs, as usually i set 3 activities for each tab. I can set image to title bar of activity, which adds the intent to each tab. Due to this, the image in the title bar is visible in all 3 tabs. My requirement is to set a different image to title bar for each activity. I followed this to set image to title bar. But when i am going to do the same thing to each activity, getting android.util.AndroidRuntimeException: You cannot combine custom titles with other title features this error and application is terminated. manifest.xml <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.aptitsolution.tablayout" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0"> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/MyTheme"> <activity android:name=".TabLayoutDemo" android:label="@string/app_name" > <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name="AlbumsActivity"></activity> <activity android:name="ArtistsActivity"></activity> <activity android:name="SongsActivity"></activity> TabLayoutDemo.java public class TabLayoutDemo extends TabActivity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE); setContentView(R.layout.main); getWindow().setFeatureInt(Window.FEATURE_CUSTOM_TITLE, R.layout.my_title); Resources res = getResources(); // Resource object to get Drawables TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); // The activity TabHost TabHost.TabSpec spec; // Resusable TabSpec for each tab Intent intent; // Reusable Intent for each tab // Create an Intent to launch an Activity for the tab (to be reused) intent = new Intent().setClass(this, ArtistsActivity.class); // Initialize a TabSpec for each tab and add it to the TabHost spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("artists").setIndicator("Artists", res.getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_tab_artists)) .setContent(intent); tabHost.addTab(spec); .... .... • NullPointerException with static variables

    - by tomekK
    I just hit very strange (to me) behaviour of java. I have following classes: public abstract class Unit { public static final Unit KM = KMUnit.INSTANCE; public static final Unit METERS = MeterUnit.INSTANCE; protected Unit() { } public abstract double getValueInUnit(double value, Unit unit); protected abstract double getValueInMeters(double value); } And: public class KMUnit extends Unit { public static final Unit INSTANCE = new KMUnit(); private KMUnit() { } //here are abstract methods overriden } public class MeterUnit extends Unit { public static final Unit INSTANCE = new MeterUnit(); private MeterUnit() { } ///abstract methods overriden } And my test case: public class TestMetricUnits extends TestCase { @Test public void testConversion() { System.out.println("Unit.METERS: " + Unit.METERS); System.out.println("Unit.KM: " + Unit.KM); double meters = Unit.KM.getValueInUnit(102.11, Unit.METERS); assertEquals(0.10211, meters, 0.00001); } } 1) MKUnit and MeterUnit are both singletons initialized statically, so during class loading. Constructors are private, so they can't be initialized anywhere else. 2) Unit class contains static final references to MKUnit.INSTANCE and MeterUnit.INSTANCE I would expect that: KMUnit class is loaded and instance is created. MeterUnit class is loaded and instance is created. Unit class is loaded and both KM and METERS variable are initialized, they are final so they cant be changed. But when I run my test case in console with maven my result is: T E S T S Running de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits Unit.METERS: m Unit.KM: null Tests run: 3, Failures: 0, Errors: 1, Skipped: 0, Time elapsed: 0.089 sec <<< FAILURE! - in de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits testConversion(de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits) Time elapsed: 0.011 sec <<< ERROR! java.lang.NullPointerException: null at de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits.testConversion(TestMetricUnits.java:29) Results : Tests in error: TestMetricUnits.testConversion:29 NullPointer And the funny part is that, when I run this test from eclipse via JUnit runner everything is fine, I have no NullPointerException and in console I have: Unit.METERS: m Unit.KM: km So the question is: what can be the reason that KM variable in Unit is null (and in the same time METERS is not null)

  • To have efficient many-to-many relation in Java

    - by Masi
    How can you make the efficient many-to-many -relation from fileID to Words and from word to fileIDs without database -tools like Postgres in Java? I have the following classes. The relation from fileID to words is cheap, but not the reverse, since I need three for -loops for it. My solution is not apparently efficient. Other options may be to create an extra class that have word as an ID with the ArrayList of fileIDs. Reply to JacobM's answer The relevant part of MyFile's constructors is: /** * Synopsis of data in wordToWordConutInFile.txt: * fileID|wordID|wordCount * * Synopsis of the data in the file wordToWordID.txt: * word|wordID **/ /** * Getting words by getting first wordIDs from wordToWordCountInFile.txt and then words in wordToWordID.txt. */ InputStream in2 = new FileInputStream("/home/dev/wordToWordCountInFile.txt"); BufferedReader fi2 = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in2)); ArrayList<Integer> wordIDs = new ArrayList<Integer>(); String line = null; while ((line = fi2.readLine()) != null) { if ((new Integer(line.split("|")[0]) == currentFileID)) { wordIDs.add(new Integer(line.split("|")[6])); } } in2.close(); // Getting now the words by wordIDs. InputStream in3 = new FileInputStream("/home/dev/wordToWordID.txt"); BufferedReader fi3 = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in3)); line = null; while ((line = fi3.readLine()) != null) { for (Integer wordID : wordIDs) { if (wordID == (new Integer(line.split("|")[1]))) { this.words.add(new Word(new String(line.split("|")[0]), fileID)); break; } } } in3.close(); this.words.addAll(words); The constructor of Word is at the paste.

  • Using Partitions for a large MySQL table

    - by user293594
    An update on my attempts to implement a 505,000,000-row table on MySQL on my MacBook Pro: Following the advice given, I have partitioned my table, tr: i UNSIGNED INT NOT NULL, j UNSIGNED INT NOT NULL, A FLOAT(12,8) NOT NULL, nu BIGINT NOT NULL, KEY (nu), key (A) with a range on nu. nu ought to be a real number, but because I only have 6-d.p. accuracy and the maximum value of nu is 30000. I multiplied it by 10^8 made it a BIGINT - I gather one can't use FLOAT or DOUBLE values to PARTITION a MySQL table. Anyway, I have 15 partitions (p0: nu<25,000,000,000, p1: nu<50,000,000,000, etc.). I was thinking that this should speed up a typical to SELECT: SELECT * FROM tr WHERE nu>95000000000 AND nu<100000000000 AND A.>1. to something of the order of the same query on a table consisting of only the data in the relevant partition (<30 secs). But it's taking 30mins+ to return rows for queries within a partition and double that if the query is for rows spanning two (contiguous) partitions. I realise I could just have 15 different tables, and query them separately, but is there a way to do this 'automatically' with partitions? Has anyone got any suggestions?

  • Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020009 (DISP_E_EXCEPTION)) in SharePoint Part 2

    - by BeraCim
    Hi all: Following this post which I posted some time ago, I now get the same error every time I try to rewire 2 web's URLs. Basically, this is the code. It runs in a LongRunningOperationJob: SPWeb existingWeb = null; using (existingWeb = site.OpenWeb(wedId)) { SPWeb destinationWeb = createNewSite(existingWeb); existingWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; existingWeb.Name = existingWeb.Name + "_old"; existingWeb.Title = existingWeb.Title + "_old"; existingWeb.Description = existingWeb.Description + "_old"; existingWeb.Update() existingWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false; destinationWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true; destinationWeb.Name = existingWeb.Name; destinationWeb.Title = existingWeb.Title; destinationWeb.Description = existingWeb.Description; destinationWeb.Update(); destinationWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false; // null this for what its worth existingWeb = null; destinationWeb = null; } // <---- Exception raised here Basically, the code is trying to rename the existing site's URL to something else, and have the destination web's url point to the old site's URL. When I run this for the first time, I received the Exception mentioned in the subject. However, every run after, I do not see the exception anymore. The webs DO get rewired... but at the cost of the app dying an unnecessary and terrible death. I'm at a complete lost as to what is going on and needs urgent help. Does sharepoint keep any hidden table from me or is the logic above has fatal problems? Thanks.

  • Broadcast receiver, check status, turning off connection with F8

    - by yoann
    I am using eclipse with android sdk 3.2 I have some problems to make my broadcast receiver working when the connection is lost. first I have checked the type of network to make sure I understand well : ConnectivityManager manager = (ConnectivityManager) getSystemService(CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE); boolean is3g = manager.getNetworkInfo( ConnectivityManager.TYPE_MOBILE) .isConnectedOrConnecting(); boolean isWifi = manager.getNetworkInfo( ConnectivityManager.TYPE_WIFI) .isConnectedOrConnecting(); NetworkInfo info = manager.getActiveNetworkInfo(); if (info != null) Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), info.getTypeName(), Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); else Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Pas de connexion", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); if (!is3g) Log.i("Network Listener", "DISCONNECTED"); else Log.i("Network Listener", "CONNECTED"); == this is a mobile network, I'm connected Then I press F8 or I make : telnet localhost 5554 gsm data off to stop the connection Here is my dynamic broadcast receiver in an activity : public class ActivityA extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.query); this.registerReceiver(this.networkStateReceiver, new IntentFilter( ConnectivityManager.CONNECTIVITY_ACTION)); } BroadcastReceiver networkStateReceiver = new BroadcastReceiver() { @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { ConnectivityManager connMgr = (ConnectivityManager) context .getSystemService(Context.CONNECTIVITY_SERVICE); NetworkInfo networkInfo = connMgr.getActiveNetworkInfo(); //i have tried several things : State networkState = networkInfo.getState(); // if (networkState.compareTo(State.DISCONNECTED) == 0) ... if (networkInfo != null && networkInfo.isConnected()) { Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "CONNECTED", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); Log.i("Network Listener", "Connected"); } else { Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "DISCONNECTED", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); Log.i("Network Listener", "Network Type Changed"); Intent offline = new Intent(AccountInfoActivity.this, OfflineWorkService.class); startService(offline); } }; My manifest : <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE"/> The problem is : when the activityA is launched, my broadcast receive something and it displays "Connected"(Log) and my toast. When I turn off the connection manually, nothing happend. My service is not started, log message are not displayed, only toast messages work ... And even better, when I turn on the connection again (by pressing F8), I test again the type of connection, Toast messages are shown but this time Log messages don't work. Problems happend when I press F8. Anyway, I think I miss something with broadcast receivers, it's not totally clear. Please help me.

  • How do I return a nested table from an oracle function using Java?

  • Using recursion to to trim a binary tree based on a given min and max value

    - by Justin
    As the title says, I have to trim a binary tree based on a given min and max value. Each node stores a value, and a left/right node. I may define private helper methods to solve this problem, but otherwise I may not call any other methods of the class nor create any data structures such as arrays, lists, etc. An example would look like this: overallRoot _____[50]____________________ / \ __________[38] _______________[90] / \ / _[14] [42] [54]_____ / \ \ [8] [20] [72] \ / \ [26] [61] [83] trim(52, 65); should return: overallRoot [54] \ [61] My attempted solution has three methods: public void trim(int min, int max) { rootFinder(overallRoot, min, max); } First recursive method finds the new root perfectly. private void rootFinder(IntTreeNode node, int min, int max) { if (node == null) return; if (overallRoot.data < min) { node = overallRoot = node.right; rootFinder(node, min, max); } else if (overallRoot.data > max) { node = overallRoot = node.left; rootFinder(node, min, max); } else cutter(overallRoot, min, max); } This second method should eliminate any further nodes not within the min/max, but it doesn't work as I would hope. private void cutter(IntTreeNode node, int min, int max) { if (node == null) return; if (node.data <= min) { node.left = null; } if (node.data >= max) { node.right = null; } if (node.data < min) { node = node.right; } if (node.data > max) { node = node.left; } cutter(node.left, min, max); cutter(node.right, min, max); } This returns: overallRoot [54]_____ \ [72] / [61] Any help is appreciated. Feel free to ask for further explanation as needed.

  • Displaying tree path of record in SQL Server 2005

    - by jskiles1
    An example of my tree table is: ([id] is an identity) [id], [parent_id], [path] 1, NULL, 1 2, 1, 1-2 3, 1, 1-3 4, 3, 1-3-4 My goal is to query quickly for multiple rows of this table and view the full path of the node from its root, through its superiors, down to itself. The ultimate question is, should I generate this path on inserts and maintain it in its own column or generate this path on query to save disk space? I guess it depends if this table is write heavy or read heavy. I've been contemplating several approaches to using the "path" characteristic of this parent/child relationship and I just can't seem to settle on one. This "path" is simply for display purposes and serves absolutely no purpose other than that. Here is what I have done to implement this "path." AFTER INSERT TRIGGER - requires passing a NULL path to the insert and updating the path for the record at the inserted rows identity INSTEAD OF INSERT TRIGGER - does not require insert to have NULL path passed, but does require the trigger to insert with a NULL path and updating the path for the record at SCOPE_IDENTITY() STORED PROCEDURE - requiring all inserts into this table to be done through the stored procedure implementing the trigger logic VIEW - requires building the path in the view 1 and 2 seem annoying if massive amounts of data are entered at once. 3 seems annoying because all inserts must go through the procedure in order to have a valid path populated. 1, 2, and 3 require maintaining a path column on the table. 4 removes all the limitations of the above but require the view to perform the path logic and requires use of the view if a path is to be displayed. I have successfully implemented all of the above approaches and I'm mainly looking for some advice. Am I way off the mark here or are any of the above acceptable? Each has it's advantages and disadvantages.

  • Problem Loading multiple textures using multiple shaders with GLSL

    - by paj777
    I am trying to use multiple textures in the same scene but no matter what I try the same texture is loaded for each object. So this what I am doing at the moment, I initialise each shader: rightWall.SendShaders("wall.vert","wall.frag","brick3.bmp", "wallTex", 0); demoFloor.SendShaders("floor.vert","floor.frag","dirt1.bmp", "floorTex", 1); The code in SendShaders is: GLuint vert,frag; glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); glEnable(GL_TEXTURE_2D); char *vs = NULL,*fs = NULL; vert = glCreateShader(GL_VERTEX_SHADER); frag = glCreateShader(GL_FRAGMENT_SHADER); vs = textFileRead(vertFile); fs = textFileRead(fragFile); const char * ff = fs; const char * vv = vs; glShaderSource(vert, 1, &vv, NULL); glShaderSource(frag, 1, &ff, NULL); free(vs); free(fs); glCompileShader(vert); glCompileShader(frag); program = glCreateProgram(); glAttachShader(program, frag); glAttachShader(program, vert); glLinkProgram(program); glUseProgram(program); LoadGLTexture(textureImage, texture); GLint location = glGetUniformLocation(program, textureName); glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE0); glBindTexture(GL_TEXTURE_2D, texture); glUniform1i(location, 0); And then in the main loop: rightWall.UseShader(); rightWall.Draw(); demoFloor.UseShader(); demoFloor.Draw(); Which ever shader is initialised last is the texture which is used for both objects. Thank you for your time and I appreciate any comments.

  • How can I see which shared folders my program has access to?

    - by Kasper Hansen
    My program needs to read and write to folders on other machines that might be in another domain. So I used the System.Runtime.InteropServices to add shared folders. This worked fine when it was hard coded in the main menu of my windows service. But since then something went wrong and I don't know if it is a coding error or configuration error. What is the scope of a shared folder? If a thread in my program adds a shared folder, can the entire local machine see it? Is there a way to view what shared folders has been added? Or is there a way to see when a folder is added? • How to generate an ASCII representation of a Unix file hierarchy?

    - by Jenn D.
    Hi, all. I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to generate some diagrams of some directories that have almost, but not exactly, the same hierarchy, so I can show them around at a meeting and we can decide which flavor we like best. I'm not interested in the "leaf" nodes, just the directories. The catch: I don't want to mess with X. This is a server system I deal with entirely through SSH. So I'm looking for something that will do ASCII layout, maybe with simple pipes-and-hyphens for lines or something. Does anyone know of such a utility? I'm sure I could write something myself, but it's such a fiddly little sort of project, with handling spacing and layout and such; I'd really like to discover that someone's done it for me. Alas, Google doesn't seem to know of such a thing...or if it does, it's hidden beneath heaps of excellent visual explications of the standard general Unix file hierarchy. Thanks!

  • How do I work with constructs in PHPUnit?

    - by Ben Dauphinee
    I am new into PHPUnit, and just digging through the manual. I cannot find a decent example of how to build a complete test from end to end though, and so, am left with questions. One of these is how can I prep my environment to properly test my code? I am trying to figure out how to properly pass various configuration values needed for both the test setup/teardown methods, and the configs for the class itself. // How can I set these variables on testing start? protected $_db = null; protected $_config = null; // So that this function runs properly? public function setUp(){ $this->_acl = new acl( $this->_db, // The database connection for the class passed // from whatever test construct $this->_config // Config values passed in from construct ); } // Can I just drop in a construct like this, and have it work properly? // And if so, how can I set the construct call properly? public function __construct( Zend_Db_Adapter_Abstract $db, $config = array(), $baselinedatabase = NULL, $databaseteardown = NULL ){ $this->_db = $db; $this->_config = $config; $this->_baselinedatabase = $baselinedatabase; $this->_databaseteardown = $databaseteardown; } // Or is the wrong idea to be pursuing?

  • [MFC] Creating multiple dialogs in an MFC app with no main Window, they become children of each othe

    - by John
    (title updated) Following on from this question, now I have a clearer picture what's going on... I have a MFC application with no main window, which exposes an API to create dialogs. When I call some of these methods repeatedly, the dialogs created are parented to each other instead of all being parented to the desktop... I have no idea why. But anyway even after creation, I am unable to change the parent back to NULL or CWnd::GetDesktopWindow()... if I call SetParent followed by GetParent, nothing has changed. So apart from the really weird question of why Windows is magically parenting each dialog to the last one created, is there anything I'm missing to be able to set these windows as children of the desktop? UPDATED: I have found the reason for all this, but not the solution. From my dialog constructor, we end up in: BOOL CDialog::CreateIndirect(LPCDLGTEMPLATE lpDialogTemplate, CWnd* pParentWnd, void* lpDialogInit, HINSTANCE hInst) { ASSERT(lpDialogTemplate != NULL); if (pParentWnd == NULL) pParentWnd = AfxGetMainWnd(); m_lpDialogInit = lpDialogInit; return CreateDlgIndirect(lpDialogTemplate, pParentWnd, hInst); } Note: if (pParentWnd == NULL)pParentWnd = AfxGetMainWnd(); The call-stack from my dialog constructor looks like this: mfc80d.dll!CDialog::CreateIndirect(const DLGTEMPLATE * lpDialogTemplate=0x005931a8, CWnd * pParentWnd=0x00000000, void * lpDialogInit=0x00000000, HINSTANCE__ * hInst=0x00400000) mfc80d.dll!CDialog::CreateIndirect(void * hDialogTemplate=0x005931a8, CWnd * pParentWnd=0x00000000, HINSTANCE__ * hInst=0x00400000) mfc80d.dll!CDialog::Create(const char * lpszTemplateName=0x0000009d, CWnd * pParentWnd=0x00000000) mfc80d.dll!CDialog::Create(unsigned int nIDTemplate=157, CWnd * pParentWnd=0x00000000) MyApp.exe!CMyDlg::CMyDlg(CWnd * pParent=0x00000000) Running in the debugger, if I manually change pParentWnd back to 0 in CDialog::CreateIndirect, everything works fine... but how do I stop it happening in the first place?

  • How to redirect within a monad in Yesod?

    - by Squazic
    I'm currently using the fb package to write a Yesod app that takes data from Facebook. In my Handler, I've managed to get the first step of the authentication to work, but I need to redirect to the url that getUserAccessTokenStep1 returns, which I've defined as fbRedirUrl. I'm having trouble with all the monad wrapping and type checking to make sure I can redirect to this url. getAccessTokenR :: Handler RepHtml getAccessTokenR = do withManager $ \manager -> do FB.runFacebookT creds manager $ do fbRedirUrl <- FB.getUserAccessTokenStep1 redirUrl [] liftIO $ print fbRedirUrl

  • How can I visualise a "broken" hierarchical dataset?

    I have a reasonably large datatable structured something like this: StaffNo Grade Direct Boss2 Boss3 Boss4 Boss5 Boss6 ------- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- 10001 1 10002 10002 10057 10094 10043 10099 10002 2 10057 NULL 10057 10094 10043 10099 10003 1 10004 10004 10057 10094 10043 10099 10004 2 10057 NULL 10057 10094 10043 10099 10057 3 10094 NULL NULL 10094 10043 10099 etc.... i.e. a unique id , their level (grade) in the hierarchy, a record of their bosses ID and the IDs of the supervisors above. (The 2,3,4, etc refers to the boss at that particular grade). The system relies on a strict hierarchy - if you are my boss (/parent) then your boss must be my grandparent. Unfortunately this rule is not enforced within the data model and the data ultimately comes from other systems which don't even know about the rule, let alone observe it. So you and I may share the same boss, but our bosses boss won't be the same. note: I cannot change the data model I cannot fix the data at source. So (for the moment) I have to fix the data once it's in place. Once a fortnight someone will do something which breaks the model and I'll need to modify the procs slightly to resolve. Not ideal, but I'm stuck with this for the next six months. Anyway, specific queries are easy to produce but I find it hard to keep track of the bigger picutre. The application which sits on this runs without complaint regardless but navigating around the system becoming extraordinarily confusing. So my question is: Can anyone recommend a tool (or technique) for generating some kind of "broken tree" diagram in this sort of circumstances? I don't want something that will fix things for me, or attempt statistical analysis but at least something that will give a visual indication of how broken it is at any one time. Note : At the moment this is in a SQL Server database but I'm open to ideas utilising C#, Perl or Python.

  • Good practice to create extension methods that apply to System.Object?

    - by Christian
    Hello, I'm wondering whether I should create extension methods that apply on the object level or whether they should be located at a lower point in the class hierarchy. What I mean is something along the lines of: public static string SafeToString(this Object o) { if (o == null || o is System.DBNull) return ""; else { if (o is string) return (string)o; else return ""; } } public static int SafeToInt(this Object o) { if (o == null || o is System.DBNull) return 0; else { if (o.IsNumeric()) return Convert.ToInt32(o); else return 0; } } //same for double.. etc I wrote those methods since I have to deal a lot with database data (From the OleDbDataReader) that can be null (shouldn't, though) since the underlying database is unfortunately very liberal with columns that may be null. And to make my life a little easier, I came up with those extension methods. What I'd like to know is whether this is good style, acceptable style or bad style. I kinda have my worries about it since it kinda "pollutes" the Object-class. Thank you in advance & Best Regards :) Christian P.S. I didn't tag it as "subjective" intentionally.

  • Delegates in Action -Help

    - by Amutha
    I am learning delegates.I am very curious to apply delegates to the following chain-of-responsibility pattern. Kindly help me the way to apply delegates to the following piece. Thanks in advance.Thanks for your effort. #region Chain of Responsibility Pattern namespace Chain { public class Player { public string Name { get; set; } public int Score { get; set; } } public abstract class PlayerHandler { protected PlayerHandler _Successor = null; public abstract void HandlePlayer(Player _player); public void SetupHandler(PlayerHandler _handler) { _Successor = _handler; } } public class Employee : PlayerHandler { public override void HandlePlayer(Player _player) { if (_player.Score <= 100) { MessageBox.Show(string.Format("{0} is greeted by Employee", _player.Name)); } else { _Successor.HandlePlayer(_player); } } } public class Supervisor : PlayerHandler { public override void HandlePlayer(Player _player) { if (_player.Score >100 && _player.Score<=200) { MessageBox.Show(string.Format("{0} is greeted by Supervisor", _player.Name)); } else { _Successor.HandlePlayer(_player); } } } public class Manager : PlayerHandler { public override void HandlePlayer(Player _player) { if (_player.Score > 200) { MessageBox.Show(string.Format("{0} is greeted by Manager", _player.Name)); } else { MessageBox.Show(string.Format("{0} got low score", _player.Name)); } } } } #endregion #region Main() void Main() { Chain.Player p1 = new Chain.Player(); p1.Name = "Jon"; p1.Score = 100; Chain.Player p2 = new Chain.Player(); p2.Name = "William"; p2.Score = 170; Chain.Player p3 = new Chain.Player(); p3.Name = "Robert"; p3.Score = 300; Chain.Employee emp = new Chain.Employee(); Chain.Manager mgr = new Chain.Manager(); Chain.Supervisor sup = new Chain.Supervisor(); emp.SetupHandler(sup); sup.SetupHandler(mgr); emp.HandlePlayer(p1); emp.HandlePlayer(p2); emp.HandlePlayer(p3); } #endregion

  • Changing order of children of an SWT Composite

    - by Alexey Romanov
    In my case I have two children of a SashForm, but the question applies to all Composites and different layouts. class MainWindow { Sashform sashform; Tree child1 = null; Table child2 = null; MainWindow(Shell shell) { sashform = new SashForm(shell, SWT.NONE); } // Not called from constructor because it needs data not available at that time void CreateFirstChild() { ... Tree child1 = new Tree(sashform, SWT.NONE); } void CreateSecondChild() { ... Table child2 = new Table(sashform, SWT.NONE); } } I don't know in advance in what order these methods will be called. How can I make sure that child1 is placed on the left, and child2 on the right? Alternately, is there a way to change their order as children of sashform after they are created? Currently my best idea is to put in placeholders like this: class MainWindow { Sashform sashform; private Composite placeholder1; private Composite placeholder2; Tree child1 = null; Table child2 = null; MainWindow(Shell shell) { sashform = new SashForm(shell, SWT.NONE); placeholder1 = new Composite(sashform, SWT.NONE); placeholder2 = new Composite(sashform, SWT.NONE); } void CreateFirstChild() { ... Tree child1 = new Tree(placeholder1, SWT.NONE); } void CreateSecondChild() { ... Table child2 = new Table(placeholder2, SWT.NONE); } }

  • How to start writing out an existing AudioQueue in response to an event?

    - by Halle
    Hello, I am writing a class that opens an AudioQueue and analyzes its characteristics, and then under certain conditions can begin or end writing out a file from that AudioQueue that is already instantiated. This is my code (entirely based on SpeakHere) that opens the AudioQueue without writing anything out to tmp: void AQRecorder::StartListen() { int i, bufferByteSize; UInt32 size; try { SetupAudioFormat(kAudioFormatLinearPCM); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueNewInput(&mRecordFormat, MyInputBufferHandler, this, NULL, NULL, 0, &mQueue), "AudioQueueNewInput failed"); mRecordPacket = 0; size = sizeof(mRecordFormat); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueGetProperty(mQueue, kAudioQueueProperty_StreamDescription, &mRecordFormat, &size), "couldn't get queue's format"); bufferByteSize = ComputeRecordBufferSize(&mRecordFormat, kBufferDurationSeconds); for (i = 0; i < kNumberRecordBuffers; ++i) { XThrowIfError(AudioQueueAllocateBuffer(mQueue, bufferByteSize, &mBuffers[i]), "AudioQueueAllocateBuffer failed"); XThrowIfError(AudioQueueEnqueueBuffer(mQueue, mBuffers[i], 0, NULL), "AudioQueueEnqueueBuffer failed"); } mIsRunning = true; XThrowIfError(AudioQueueStart(mQueue, NULL), "AudioQueueStart failed"); } catch (CAXException &e) { char buf[256]; fprintf(stderr, "Error: %s (%s)\n", e.mOperation, e.FormatError(buf)); } catch (...) { fprintf(stderr, "An unknown error occurred\n"); } } But I'm a little unclear on how to write a function that will tell this queue "from now until the stop signal, start writing out this queue to tmp as a file". I understand how to tell an AudioQueue to write out as a file at the time that it's created, how to set files format, etc, but not how to tell it to start and stop midstream. Much appreciative of any pointers, thanks.
