  • How to use php variables (arrays) in mysql select statements?

    - by davidconn
Hi everybody, How do you use a php variable (array) inside a mysql select statement? I am designing an auction site and currently working on a page that lets people view a list of all the current bids for an item. I want to display 3 columns: amountbid - the amount each bidder has bid for the item (held in tblbid) bidderid - the id of each bidder who has bid (found in tbluser) total_positivity_feedback - how many users have left positive feedback for the bidder (calculated from tblfeedback) To find the 'amount' and the 'bidderid' columns i pass the essayid URL parameter from the previous page. This works fine. Despite this, i can't display the total_positivity_feedback column for the various users who have made each bid. My mysql query looks like this: select tblbid.bidderid, tblbid.amount, (select count(tblfeedback.feedbackid) from tblfeedback WHERE tblfeedback.writerid = "ARRAY VARIABLE GOES HERE") AS total_positivity_feedback FROM tblbid WHERE tblbid.essayid = $essayid_bids I assume that the only way to accomplish this is to make the variable contain the bidderid's of those people who bid for that particular essay? I can't seem to work out how to do this tho?!? Many thanks for your help

  • Creating Oracle stored procedure that returns data

    - by user3614327
In Firebird you can create a stored procedure that returns data an invoke it like a table passing the arguments: create or alter procedure SEL_MAS_IVA ( PCANTIDAD double precision) returns ( CANTIDAD_CONIVA double precision) as begin CANTIDAD_CONIVA = pCANTIDAD*(1.16); suspend; end select * from SEL_MAS_IVA(100) will return a single row single column (named CANTIDAD_CONIVA) relation with the value 116 This is a very simple example. The stored procedure can of course have any number of input and output parameters and do whatever it needs to return data (including multiple rows), which is accomplished by the "suspend" statement (which as it name implies, suspends the SP execution, returns data to the caller, and resumes with the next statement) How can I create such kind of stored procedures in Oracle?

  • Error when creating database in MySQL using Netbeans 6.8

    - by nix
I am trying to create a database using MySQL statements in NetBeans 6.8. However, I keep getting Error code 1064. I don't know what the problem is really since the same statements work in NetBeans 6.0. Here is the error: Error code 1064, SQL state 42000: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '; /*!40000 ALTER TABLE students ENABLE KEYS */; -- -- Definition of table `w' at line 1016 Line 46, column 1

  • SSAS Reporting Services - Set specific language / translation

    - by Chris
Hi all, in the data warehouse there's a default language for the measures, and I added a translation for German captions. In a Visual Studio Report Server project, when creating a query with my German OS, the cube and its measures are displayed in German language. When dragging measures to the mdx query windows, the default measure name is used. That's what I want and what I expect, since when writing MDX queries I would like to use the default measure names. But when executing the query, the columns created for each measure is translated to German again. This resuls in having German columns names within my dataset, which I dont want. I'd like to have the english column names. I already tried to change the connection string to: Data Source=server;Initial Catalog=DataWarehouse;LocaleIdentifier=1033 But that doesn't help, I still see German translations. Anyone knows how to set a specific translation?

  • Problem using OLEDBCOMMANDBUILDER.

    - by Lullly
So, here it goes: I need to copy data from table in access database, in another table from another access database. Column names from tables are the same, except the fact that the FROM table has 5 columns, the TO table has 6. here is my code: dsFrom.Clear() dsTO.Clear() daFrom = Nothing daTO = Nothing conn_string1 = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="etc.mdb;" conn_string2 = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="database.mdb;" query1 = "Select * from nomenclator_produse" query2 = "Select * from nomenclator_produse" Conn1 = New OleDbConnection(conn_string1) conn2 = New OleDbConnection(conn_string2) Conn1.Open() conn2.Open() daFrom = New OleDbDataAdapter(query1, Conn1) daTO = New OleDbDataAdapter(query2, conn2) daFrom.AcceptChangesDuringFill = False dsFrom.HasChanges() daFrom.Fill(dsFrom, "nomenclator_Produse") dsFrom.HasChanges() Dim cb = New OleDbCommandBuilder(daFrom) dsTO = dsFrom.Copy daTO.UpdateCommand = cb.GetUpdateCommand daTO.InsertCommand = cb.GetInsertCommand daTO.Update(dsTO, "nomenclator_produse") Because the FROM table has 5 rows and the other has 6, i'm trying to use the InsertCommand generated by the DataAdapter of the first table. It works, only that it inserts the data from the FROMTABLE in the same FROMTABLE, instead of TOTABLE. :| please help me :(

  • MULTIPLE CRITERIA TABLE JOIN

    - by user1447203
I have a table listing clothing items (shirt, trousers, etc) named . Each item is identified with a unique CLOTHING.CLOTHING_ID. So a blue shirt is 01, a flowery shirt is 12 and jeans are 07 say. I have a second table identifying outfits with a column for shirts, for trousers, shoes etc. For example Outfit 1: shirt 01, trousers 07 (i.e. blue shirt with jeans) Outfit 2: shirt 12, trousers 07 (so flowery shirt with jeans). This table is named and each outfit is unique with OUTFIT_LIST.OUTFIT_ID. I want to produce a select statement that will list each outfit's contents, i.e. find the clothing specified in Outfit 1. Any help would be very much appreciated, and apologies in advance if I am missing a very simple solution. I have been playing with JOINS of all descriptions and CONCATS and so on with now luck - I am very new to this. Thanks.

  • MySQL some columns Distinct

    - by Adam
I have the following query that works well. SELECT DISTINCT city,region1,region2 from static_geo_world where country='AU' AND (city LIKE '%geel%' OR region1 LIKE '%geel%' OR region2 LIKE '%geel%' OR region3 LIKE '%geel%' OR zip LIKE 'geel%') ORDER BY city; I need to also extract a column named 'id' but this messes up the DISTINCT as each ID is different. How can I get the same UNIQUE set of records as above but also get the 'id' for each record? Note: sometimes I can return a few thousand records so a query for each record isn't possible. Any ideas would be very welcome...

  • Grouping and retrieving most recent entry in a table for each group

    - by Lisa
First off, please bear with me if I don't state the SQL question correctly. I have a table that has multiple columns of data. The selection criteria for my table groups based on column 1(order #). There could be multiple items on each order, but the item #'s are not grouped together. Example: Order Customer Order Date Order Time Item Quantity 123456 45 01/02/2010 08:00 140 4 123456 45 01/02/2010 08:30 270 29 123456 45 03/03/2010 09:00 140 6 123456 45 04/02/2010 09:30 140 10 123456 45 04/02/2010 10:00 270 35 What I need is a result like: Order Customer Order Date Order Time Item Quantity 123456 45 04/02/2010 09:30 140 10 123456 45 04/02/2010 10:00 270 35 This result shows that after all the changes the final order includes 10 of Item 140 and 35 of Item 270. Is this possible. python

  • Prioritize SQL WHERE clause

    - by JaTochNietDan
Basically I want to do this: SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE x = 'hello' OR x = 'bye' LIMIT 1'; I want it to return 1 value, but to prioritize results from the 1st where clause. So if there exists a row where column x's value is "hello", it will not return the result from the 'bye' value. If the "hello" value doesn't exist though, it will return the result from the 'bye' value. Can't figure out a way to do it even though it seems fairly trivial. Any ideas?

  • Customers and suppliers database design issue

    - by hectorsq
I am developing a web application in which I will have customers and suppliers. Initially I thought on using a Customers table and a Suppliers table. Then when I was thinking on bank transactions, I noticed that each transaction needs to refer to a customer or a supplier, so I thought on using a single table named Business in which I will save both customers and suppliers. If I use Customers and Suppliers tables when I want to list the bank transactions I will have to search in both tables to get the company name. If I use a Businesses table I will have to use a business type column, and have the union of possible fields for all businesses types. Any suggestions on the design?

  • Username correct, password incorrect?

    - by jonnnnnnnnnie
    In a login system, how can you tell if the user has entered the password incorrectly? Do you perform two SQL queries, one to find the username, and then one to find the username and matching (salted+hashed etc) password? I'm asking this because If the user entered the password incorrectly, I want to update the failed_login_attempts column I have. If you perform two queries wouldn't that increase overhead? If you did a query like this, how would you tell if the password entered was correct or not, or whether the username doesn't exist: SELECT * FROM author WHERE username = '$username' AND password = '$password' LIMIT 1 ( ^ NB: I'm keeping it simple, will use hash and salt, and will sanitize input in real one.) Something like this: $user = perform_Query() // get username and password? if ($user['username'] == $username && $user['password'] == $password) { return $user; } elseif($user['username'] == $username && $user['password'] !== $password) { // here the password doesn't match // update failed_login_attemps += 1 }

  • Pattern for unidirectional has_many join?

    - by Kris
It occurred to me that if I have a has_many join, where the foreign model does not have a belongs_to, and so the join is one way, then I don't actually need a foreign key. We could have a column, category_ids, which stores a marshaled Array of IDs which we can pass to find. So here is an untested example: class page < AR def categories Category.find(self.category_ids) end def categories<<(category) # get id and append to category_ids save! end def category_ids @cat_ids ||= Marshal.load(read_attribute(:category_ids)) rescue [] end def category_ids=(ids) @cat_ids = ids write_attribute(:category_ids, ids) end end page.category_ids = [1,4,12,3] page.categories = Array of Category Is there accepted pattern for this already? Is it common or just not worth the effort?

  • Recordset Update errors when updating sql_variant field

    - by Stephen Nutt
I'm using C++ and ADO to add data to a SQL Server 2005 database. When calling the Recordset Update method for a sql_variant column I'm getting the error DB_E_ERRORSOCCURRED and the error message Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done. If the value I'm adding is NULL all works fine and all values going to the fields that are not sql_variant types work. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks [Edit] I have some more information. The value we are storing is the empty string - ADO appears to want to store this in the sql_variant as a nchar(0), which of course is not a valid SQL data type. Is there a way to get an empty string in a sql_variant using the ADO batch commands?

  • OneToMany association updates instead of insert

    - by Shvalb
I have an entity with one-to-many association to child entity. The child entity has 2 columns as PK and one of the column is FK to the parent table. mapping looks like this: @OneToMany(cascade = {CascadeType.ALL}, fetch = FetchType.EAGER ) @JoinColumn(name="USER_RESULT_SEQUENCES.USER_RESULT_ID", referencedColumnName="USER_RESULT_ID", unique=true, insertable=true, updatable=false) private List<UserResultSequence> sequences; I create an instance of parent and add children instances to list and then try to save it to DB. If child table is empty it inserts all children and it works perfectly. if the child table is not empty it updates existing rows! I don't know why it updates instead of inserts, any ideas why this might happen?? Thank you!

  • SSIS Script Component + Helper Assemblies (.dll's)

    - by Nev_Rahd
I got a script component which does Transformation / DataType conversions / Creating some calculated columns. All the transform validations / datatype conversion methods and for new column generation is put into custom .dll. As this script component would be same for all other tables, only thing is to define input / ouput columns and apply validation methods on required columns. This all works fine. On production server where do I need to deploy my .dll. Would just putting it into GAC will be enough or need to do something else. Regards

  • MySQL Database || Tables Issue

    - by user1780103
I'm trying to write up a script where the user is able to purchase an amount of points for dollars. I want the transaction to be inserted into MySQL. I keep facing a: "Column count doesn't match value count at row 1" error. And I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I have written up this: mysql_query("INSERT INTO paypal_donations VALUES (NULL, ".$account_id.", ".$char_id.", ".$price.", ".$dp.", NOW(), NOW(), 'Started', 0, 0, '', '');") or die(mysql_error()); But I don't know what to execute in MySQL, since I've never worked with it before. Could anyone write up a quick script that I can insert into MySQL for it to work.

  • In a Windows forms application, how can I use a listbox in a DataGridView coloumn instead of a combo

    - by Alex
I'm working on a windows forms application that uses a DataGridView. Some of the cells contain a DataGridViewComboBox. In some cases, I have several values to display in the combobox. For that scenario, it would be better to use a ListBox instead of a ComboBox. Is it possible to use a multi-column listbox within a DataGridView instead of a ComboBox? If so, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks much. Al D.

  • How to easily get the unmatched condition in mysql

    - by leivli
I have a "server" table which has a column named 'SN' in mysql, when do query to retrive servers with some sns from 'sn1' to 'sn10000', we can: select * from server where sn in ('sn1','sn2','sn3',...'sn10000'); If there is only one sn in 'sn1'-'sn10000' which not exists in database, then the query above will retrive 9999 rows of result. The question is how can I easily get which one in 'sn1'-'sn10000' is not exists in database except the additional work, such as handling the result with shell script etc. I have an ugly sql like below can use: select * from (select 'sn1' as sn union select 'sn2' union select 'sn3' .... union select 'sn10000') as SN where not exists (select id from server where server.sn=SN.sn); Is Anyone has other better methods? Thanks.

  • MySQL returns fewer rows with GROUP BY statement

    - by bschaeffer
I've got a MySQL database that stores image information. Right now it only has three rows stored in the database, and each row is associated with something like, for instance, a unique blog post via a key column. As of right now, one "blog post key" has one image, and one has two images in the database. When I run this query, MySQL returns all three rows. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' However, when i add the GROUP BY statement I only get two rows... one for each key. SELECT `id`, `key`, `url` FROM (`images`) WHERE `key` = 'TpaS4G5h' OR `key` = '78855e44' GROUP BY `key` I'm sure there is a simple solution, but I don't know what it is... so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Easy way to compute how close an auto_increment is to its maximum value?

    - by David M
So yesterday we had a table that has an auto_increment PK for a smallint that reached its maximum. We had to alter the table on an emergency basis, which is definitely not how we like to roll. Is there an easy way to report on how close each auto_increment field that we use is to its maximum? The best way I can think of is to do a SHOW CREATE TABLE statement, parse out the size of the auto-incremented column, then compare that to the AUTO_INCREMENT value for the table. On the other hand, given that the schema doesn't change very often, should I store information about the columns' maximum values and get the current AUTO_INCREMENT with SHOW TABLE STATUS?

  • How to create a MySQL query for time based elements with a 'safe window'?

    - by pj4533
I am no SQL expert, far from it. I am writing a Rails application, and I am new at that as well. I come from a desktop programming background. My application has a table of data, one of the columns is the time at which the data was logged. I want to create a query with a 'safe window' around EACH row. By that I mean, it returns the first row, then for X minutes (based on the timelogged column) it won't return any data, once X minutes is up, it will return the next row. For example: ID | TimeLogged 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 2 | 3/5/2010 12:01:50 3 | 3/5/2010 12:02:03 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 6 | 3/5/2010 01:31:05 With a 'safe window' of 5 minutes I want to create a query to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 4 | 3/5/2010 12:10:30 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 (It skipped the 12:01:50 and 12:02:03 items because they occurred within 5 minutes of the first item.) Another example, with a 'safe window' of 15 minutes I want to return: 1 | 3/5/2010 12:01:01 5 | 3/5/2010 01:30:03 Perhaps I have to just return all data and parse it myself?

  • Finding center of fingerprints.

    - by an_ant
If we suppose that every fingerprint is made of concentric curves (ellipses or circles) - and I'm aware of the fact that not every fingerprint is - how can I find center of those concentric curves? Let's take this "ideal" fingerprint and try to find out its center ... My approaches were to try: Find the spectrum through columns/rows of the image and try to find columns/rows that maximize particular band of the spectrum. I thought that column going through the center would have most regular pattern of changing amplitudes - therefore, most recognizible harmonic. My second approach was to try to count the changes of black-and-white also through the columns and rows, and to maximize that amount among rows and columns also. While these methods work to the some extant, with some additional filtering, they fail, when fingerprint is "not ideal as this one is". Can you think of any different approach? Are there standard ways to do it?

  • Extendable accessing of sqlite database on android platform

    - by mscriven
Hi, I am fairly new to the android sdk and databases and have been searching for an answer to this quite some time. I am trying to build an app which has multiple tables within a database. e.g. one for weapons, armours etc. However, my DatabaseManager class which handles all of my table creating, DatabaseHelper inner class and populating of data is creating for an extremely large class requiring high maintenance. Every time I would like to add or remove a table column I need to change quite a few areas of code, - Every reference to the addition of a row in that table with data - The method that the above calls - The method returning all of the database rows - The code in the helper class creating the table - Any specific update methods My question is this: Surely there must be some better way of coding this system, maybe using a database isn't the best way to go, or am i just not used to such large classes having only learned java at university and my largest class consisting of a mere 400-600 lines of code. Thanks for any help!
