• Creating and publishing exel file in MOSS 2007 using data from SQL sever.

  Hello, I need help in this matter: We have a template of exel file in which all calculations are already set. User can request a 'report'. Idea is to create a button on our site (SharePoint portal). After clicking on it a new exel file is generated. This means to get actual data from database (SQL server 2005 SP2), import them into template, let all calculations to generate proper data and then allow user to see this file. For now it's enough to publish final exel file in document library. I am quite new in WSS 3.0 and MOSS 2007 and I need some advice in what can be the best solution. Looks like a quite complex task for me. Is there some direct way how to accomplish this? Or maybe I need one tool to get data from database and to import this data into exel file (SSRS?) and other tool to publish it in document library (MOSS7 Exel services?). I heard something about PerformancePoint Server 2007, is this a way to follow? Thanks forward for any advice!

  Hello, I am writing an Apache module in C++. I need to store the common data that all childs need to read as a portion of shared memory. Structure is kind of map of vectors, so I want to use STL map and vectors for it. I have written a shared allocator and a shared manager for the purpose, they work fine for vectors but not for maps, below is the example: typedef vector<CustomersData, SharedAllocator<CustomersData> > CustomerVector; CustomerVector spData; //this one works fine typedef SharedAllocator< pair< const int, CustomerVector > > PairAllocator; typedef map< int, CustomerVector, less<int>, PairAllocator > SharedMap; SharedMap spIndex; //this one doesn't work I get compile time errors when I try to use the second object (spIndex), which are someting like: ../SpatialIndex.h:97: error: '((SpatialIndex*)this)-SpatialIndex::spIndex' does not have class type It looks like the compiler cannot determine a type for SharedMap template type, which is strange in my opinion, it seems to me that all the template parameters have been specified. • Replacing unversioned files in WiX major upgrade.

  I am still having this problem. This is the closest I have come to a solution that works, and yet it doesn't quite work. Here is (most of) the code: <Product Id='$(var.ProductCode)' UpgradeCode='$(var.UpgradeCode)' Name="Pathways" Version='$(var.ProductVersion)' Manufacturer='$(var.Manufacturer)' Language='1033'> Maximum="$(var.ProductVersion)" IncludeMaximum="no" Language="1033" Property="OLDAPPFOUND" / -- -- -- There is a later version of this program installed. The problem I am having is that I need the two files in the Database component to replace the previous copies. Since these files are unversioned, I have attempted to use the CompanionFile tag set to the PathwaysExe since that is the main executable of the application, and it IS being updated, even if the log says it isn't! The strangest thing about this is that the PathwaysLdf file IS BEING UPDATED CORRECTLY, and the PathwaysMdf file IS NOT. The log seems to indicate that the "Existing file is of an equal version (Checked using version of companion)". This is very strange because that file is being replaced just fine. The only idea I have left is that this problem has to do with the install sequence, and I'm not sure how to proceed! I have the InstallExecuteSequence set like I do because of the SettingsXml file, and my need to NOT overwrite that file, which is actually working now, so whatever solution works for the database files can't break the working settings file! ;) The full log is located at: http://pastebin.com/HFiGKuKN PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

• How to use routing in a ASP MVC website to localize in two languages - But keeping exiting URLs

  We have a couple ASP MVC websites just using the standard VS templates default settings - Working as wanted. But now I want to localize these website ( They are now in Dutch and I will add the English language ) I would like to use routing and not Resource because: 1. Languages will differ in content, numbers of pages, etc. 2. The content is mostly text. I would like the URLs to look some thing like this - www.domain.com/en/Home/Index, www.domain.nl/nl/Home/Index. But the last one should also work with - www.domain.nl/Home/Index - Witch is the exciting URLs. I have implemented Phil Haacks areas ViewEngine from this blogpost - http://haacked.com/archive/2008/11/04/areas-in-aspnetmvc.aspx. But only putting the English website in the areas and keeping the Dutch in old structure. Witch are served as Phils default fallback. But the problem is here that I have to duplicate my controllers for both language's. So I tried the work method described in this tread - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1712167/asp-net-mvc-localization-route. It works OK with the ?en? and /nl/ but not with the old URLs. • Types issue in F#

  Hello! In my ongoing adventure deep diving into f# I am understanding a lot of this powerful language but there are things that I still do not understand so clearly. One of the most important issues I need to master is types. Well the book I am reading is very straight forward and introduces entities and main functionalities with a direct approach. The first thing I could get start with is types. It introduces the main types as list, option, tuples, and so on... It is clearly underlined that all these types are IMMUTABLE for many reasons regarding functional programming and data consistance in functional programing. Well, no problems until now... But now I am getting started with Concrete Types... Well... I have problems in managing with types like list, option, tuples, types created through new operator and concrete types created using type keyword (for abbreviations, concrete types...). So my question is: how can I efficently catalogue/distinguish all types of data in f#???? I can create a perfect separation among types in C#, VB.NET... FOr example in VB.NET there are value and reference types while in C# there are only references and also int, double are treated as objects (they are objects while in VB.NET a value type is not a object and there is a split in types for this reason). Well in F# I cannot create such differences among types in the language. Can you help me? I hope I was clear.

  Hi there, I need to find out if anything exists between two nodes. My XML looks like this: <event value1="1" value2="2" value3="3" <info="some info here"/> Line 1.</lb> Line 2.</lb></lb> Line 3.</lb> Line 4.</lb> </event> My goal is to convert the </lb> nodes to </br> HTML tags using XSLT. There is one additional requirement to fulfill though. In case there is one </lb> directly following another </lb> I want to output only one </br>. My XSLT looks like this: <xsl:template match="lb"> <xsl:if test="not(preceding-sibling::lb[1])"> <br/> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> The problem with the XSLT above is that it works correctly for line 1 only as the text between both nodes is ignored. The update handler in the DataSource is never invoked (not even for the first chosen switch and despite the DataSource for that first toggled switch is updated). • Range-based `for` statement definition redundancy

  Looking at n3092, in §6.5.4 we find the equivalency for a range-based for loop. It then goes on to say what __begin and __end are equal to. It differentiates between arrays and other types, and I find this redundant (aka, confusing). It says for arrays types that __begin and __end are what you expect: a pointer to the first and a pointer to one-past the end. Then for other types, __begin and __end are equal to begin(__range) and end(__range), with ADL. Namespace std is associated, in order to find the std::begin and std::end defined in <iterator>, §24.6.5. However, if we look at the definition of std::begin and std::end, they are both defined for arrays as well as container types. And the array versions do exactly the same as above: pointer to the first, pointer to one-past the end. Why is there a need to differentiate arrays from other types, when the definition given for other types would work just as well, finding std::begin and std::end? Some abridged quotes for convenience: §24.6.5 The range-based for statement — if _RangeT is an array type, begin-expr and end-expr are __range and __range + __bound, respectively, where __bound is the array bound. If _RangeT is an array of unknown size or an array of incomplete type, the program is ill-formed. — otherwise, begin-expr and end-expr are begin(_range) and end(_range), respectively, where begin and end are looked up with argument-dependent lookup (3.4.2).   I'm working within the parameters of an un-reachable developer, whom has created an html generation system for our products.. I've been trying to reach the developer but he has been rather un-available.. Thank you in advance for any help you might have to offer.

It works if i click some other button and click this button. What could be causing this issue and how can i solve it?

  I am trying to run a plugin designed for Vuze using Java. • Rails 2.3.2 trying to render ERB instead of HAML

  Rails is suddenly trying to render ERB instead of Haml and I can't figure out why. I've created new rails projects, reinstalled Haml, and reinstalled Rails. Here's exactly the steps I take when making my application (Rails 2.3.2): rails> rails test rails> cd test rails\test> haml --rails . rails\test> ruby script\generate model user email:string password:string rails\test> ruby script\generate controller users index rails\test> rake db:migrate Here's what the UsersController looks like: class UsersController < ApplicationController def index @users = User.all end end My routes: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :users end I now create views\users\index.html.haml: %table %th(style="text-align: left;") %h1 Users - for user in @users %tr %td= user.email %td= user.password Annnd run the server... I navigate to localhost:3000\users and I get this error message: Template is missing Missing template users/index.erb in view path app/views For some reason Rails is trying to find and render .erb files instead of .haml files. vendor\plugins\haml\init.rb exists, untouched. I've reinstalled Haml (Pretty Penny) multiple times and still get the same results. I've also tried adding config.gem 'haml' to my environment.rb but this also doesn't work. I can't figure out why suddenly rails will not render haml for me.

• Perl Script in background

  I have a perl script i made to automatically telnet into different servers . but its interface is only command line. To make it more user friendly for general windows users , i need to make GUI for it . My idea is to make GUI in a language like VB,java ,etc and let that call perl script . my script will run in background in a command prompt and whatever the result it displays back in GUI. Got some success. GUI in vb ,I run an instance of CMD in background ,run perl script in that .But that is wer program fails .As perl script runs in a thread for perl , i only get the output when script completes(rather say when it timeout). i need a mechanism where i can interact with the perl script , take output of script and show to user , then take input from user and so on . Please can you all suggest me some way to actually make this happen. PS: No limitation on using any language for GUI (as core work is done by perl script,GUI only there to give appropriate commands to script) Thanks in advance

• Data Access Layer, Best Practices

  I'm looking for input on the best way to refactor the data access layer (DAL) in my PHP based web app. I follow an MVC pattern: PHP/HTML/CSS/etc. views on the front end, PHP controllers/services in the middle, and a PHP DAL sitting on top of a relational database in the model. Pretty standard stuff. Things are working fine, but my DAL is getting large (codesmell?) and becoming a bit unwieldy. My DAL contains almost all of the logic to interface with my database and is full of functions that look like this: function getUser($user_id) { $statement = "select id, name from users where user_id=:user_id"; PDO builds statement and fetchs results as an array return $array_of_results_generated_by_PDO_fetch_method; } Notes: The logic in my controller only interacts with the model using functions like the above in the DAL I am not using a framework (I'm of the opinion that PHP is a templating language and there's no need to inject complexity via a framework) I generally use PHP as a procedural language and tend to shy away from its OOP approach (I enjoy OOP development but prefer to keep that complexity out of PHP) What approaches have you taken when your DAL has reached this point? Do I have a fundamental design problem? Do I simply need to chop my DAL into a number of smaller files (logically divide it)? Thanks.

Next step could be something like bash. Since the above one raises an exception, I tried to make it not raise exceptions, like this: rem=""" echo "Hello, world!" exit """ exit="" exit print "Hello, world!" The only issue is, of course, it won't print the hello world. And I really want it to print that hello world for me. Anyone can help with this? Also, any other language would do it, just don't break the previous ones (i.e. the answer still has to be valid Python code and print out the nice hello world greeting when run with Python.) Any ideas are welcome. I'm making this a community wiki so feel free to add ideas to the list.

One common misleading idea is that mod_python is like mod_php, but for python. That is not true. So what is equivalent of mod_php in python? You can write CGI scripts in Perl, Python, C, bash, or even Assembly :). So, I guess mod_cgi , mod_fastcgi, mod_scgi are their corresponding apache modules. Right? WSGI is some kind of optimized/improved inshort an efficient version specifically designed for python language only. In order to use this mod_wsgi is a way to go. right? This leaves out mod_python. What is it then? Apache - mod_fastcgi - FLUP (via CGI protocol) - Django (via WSGI protocol) Flup is another way to run with wsgi for any webserver that can speak FCGI, SCGI or AJP What is FLUP? What is AJP? How did Django come in the picture? These questions raise quetions about PHP. How is it actually running? What technology is it using? mod_php & mod_python what are the differences? In future if I want to use Perl or Java then again will I have to get confused? Kindly can someone explain things clearly and give a Complete Picture.

• Progressive MP4 video issues in Flash- Video stops rendering

  I'm currently working on a flash project that has an intro video that plays before heading into the main app. This video is an H.264 .mp4, 1550x540, and around 10MB. The problem thats currently driving me insane is that when I test it, occasionally the video will begin playing, and then suddenly stop rendering the video frames, leaving the audio playing in the background with nothing on screen. Once the file is played through fully (based on listening to the audio), my playback complete event fires like it should, but I can't find any info of people having similar issues. • Should I learn VB.NET or C#?

  Background I have decided to do my graduation project (yet to start) in .NET. Regarding it, I am bit confused about: what language should I learn: VB.NET or C#? What I have learnt from those who know it that both VB.NET and C# have: The same concepts VB.NET is simpler as it is more like English statements but also C# is simple too if you already know C (Which I do know) Question So considering some factors, e.g. career point of view, newness, challenging and beneficial, etc., what language should I choose?   I'm using Imagekit. View.py includes: def pics(request): p = Photo.objects.all() return render_to_response('Shots.html', {'p': p}) The following simple code in the template will generate associated images: {% for p in p %} <img src = "{{ p.display.url }}"> <img src = "{{ p.thumbnail_image.url }}"> {% endfor %} I'm attempting to generate a series of thumbnails {{ p.thumbnail_image.url }} which, when mouseover'd, will generate the slightly larger version of the image, {{ p.display.url }} via Javascript. The following code in the template attempts to do so: <html> <head> <HEAD> <script language="Javascript"> { image1 = new Image image2 = new Image image1.src = {{ p.thumbnail_image.url }} image2.src = {{ p.display.url }} </script> </head> <body> {% for p in p %} <a href="" onMouseOver="document.rollover.src= image2.src onMouseOut="document.rollover.src= image1.src"> <img src="{{ p.thumbnail_image.url }}" border=0 name="rollover"></a> {% endfor %} </body> </html> This will display the series of thumbnails, but the larger image will not display when mouseover'd. I believe it has to do with how I'm specifying the variable {{ p.display.url }}.
